I firmly believe that 90% (or more) of all hate-speech on these blogs come from republicans trying to drive a wedge between Democrats. There are "Obama Supporters" writing nasty, nasty stuff about "PUMAS" and vice versa. Believe me, they are all repubs and paid by Karl Rove.

If you are a true Democrat, either a supporter of Obama, or an actual PUMA, then don't take any nasty comment you see to heart. It is all coming from Karl.
Ignore the repubs comments and listen instead to the positive message from true Democrats!

We have had a democratic congress for almost 2 years now, they
promised all kinds of changes and blamed the republicians for
not getting anything done. What have the democrats done for us so far?? Absolutley Nothing, a bunch of empty promises. Pelosi and Reid

As an African American I've always been patriotic but now I understand the intense patriotism that whites feel about this country. Its the kind of patriotism and love of country you feel when you know your leadership reflects you, your family and your community. White people have felt this type of patriotism as a result of representative government for 232 years. It breeds confidence that you can make it if you try. With Obama, blacks have been able to enjoy this feeling for the last 6 months.

It's great that an African-American is being nominated for president....just the nomination is so important. I think though that Obama will not win....he has only style and charisma to offer (and after last nights speech by Biden, we know only Barrack has the charisma on that ticket )....and I think McCain/Romney will be seen as "strength, experience, and preparedness" personified.

Now, I agree with those who will undoubtly respond that you can't put too much stock in the polls and that it's early, but this is encouraging.

Obama has had some difficulty communicating his message for two reasons; (1) the McCain camp and right wing-nut media has been pouring buckets of mud on him (most of it fabrication, exaggeration, and innuendo) keeping him on the defense and (2) Obama has real world solutions that reflect the complexity of the problems we face, not oversimplified solutions that won't solve problems but make great sound-bites like McCain's.

Last night, you heard the sharpening of the message into more punchy bits that can be more easily communicated. With a team of surrogates to support Obama – Biden, Clinton, Clinton, Kerry, Richardson, etc. they will be able to simultaneously get the message out while combating all the unethical and untrue smears coming from McCain and others. 10 weeks to victory – a great team, a multitude of donors, an army of volunteers! WE ARE AMERICA AND WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK!!!!

Does anyone seriously believe that it's a coincidence that this anniversary falls on the day an African American accepts the Democratic nomination?

This kind of political theatre does not happen by accident.

This date has been in the calendar since at least January 2007 and key figures in the Democratic party have clearly manipulated the process to deliver the nomination to Obama.

I think when this is over a lot of Dems credibility is going to come into question. A motivational speaker with no experience running on judgement? There was a lot of people that said we should not go to war. A lot of people thought we should have went to Afganistan instead of Iraq. When the attacks starting increasing in Afganistan the generals on the ground said we need more troops. It appears many democrats are swooning with convention fever and feel this election is all wrapped up. Frankly, the convention has seemed like a precisely scripted reality TV show (wonder if the Chinese helped with the production). The polls still show the race even and the real people on the street I see everyday here in fly-over country don't think very highly of Obama. I saw some interviews with young Obama supporters the other night who could not identify Pelosi, Biden, or Cheney, and could not articulate anything Obama plans to do if elected other than "change"; very telling.

I am 80 years old. I am white. I have seen many many elections. I have never seen the word"comander in chief" used in any one of them. Why does a war lord become so important? No one threatens our security, but we threaten the security of any nation that has rich oil potential. Can the problems of oil not be settled by diplomacy instead of war? We are not the only nation dependent on oil. I think the war mongers would rather see war than sharing peacefully this vital liquid, because they want to make more profit and total control over oil means more money for them. I can see how this is a significant event in the eyes of Americans, especially on the 45th anniversary of the speech. However, let's not annoint BO the president just yet. I still don't know anything about this guy or his actually thoughts on POLICY. Yes, I think he's a great speaker/motivator, but that does me no good if your going to increase my taxes, call home our troops before it's time, or not even drill on our own soil. I just hope that CNN gives McCain's choice for VP the same amount of coverage they gave for Biden. We'll see.
