John McCain has chosen Sarah Palin to be his VP.

(CNN) – Sen. John McCain has chosen Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice-presidential candidate on the Republican ticket for the White House in November, a senior McCain campaign official has told CNN.

Watch: McCain introduces Sarah Palin as his VP

Palin, 44, is a first-term governor who unseated incumbent Gov. Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary in 2006 and went on to defeat former Gov. Tony Knowles, a Democrat, in the general election.

An advocate of drilling for oil in her state's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, she is little known outside of Alaska.

If McCain thinks this pick will garner more of the women vote, he is sorely mistaken! His policies will hurt more women in this country regardless who is on his ticket! Palin is no HRC!

    Sounds great for Obama/Biden!!!

Two years of experience, previous job as a mayor of a town with 6,000 people in Nowheresville, Alaska, only 44-years-old, all good news.

Sure she's more attractive than Biden, but Biden will devour her in the debates. I'm sure she has stunning foreign policy credentials!

This is just another female Republican along the lines of Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin and all of the other attractive, inexperienced and naive GOP politicians. If you think this is going to get Clinton voters...well, lol.

No surprise here – typical pandering. If women voters fall for this, they deserve the setback McCain would mean for women's rights.

This is an insult to women... obviously just to pick up disillusioned Hillary voters. As what one might call a former 'PUMA', I'm firmly behind Obama now!!!

McCain has the audacity to say that Obama isn't qualified after 8 years in the Illinois senate and 3 years in the US Senate then appoints someone younger than Obama with only 2 years as a governer and previous experience in a city council? It's clear that they think they can peel women off of the dems simply by having a woman despite her qualifications.

Being a staunch conservative, I was hesitantly going to vote for McCain, but now I'm not sure I've even going to vote....His VP choice is very disappointing.

One question. Since John McCain doesn't support equal pay for women, would Sarah be paid less than the other male VPs before her.

No Way. No How. No McCain.

Sarah Palin has NO FOREIGN POLICY EXPERIENCE. Isn't that the reason John McCain has been saying Obama isn't ready?

If McCain thinks Palin is READY RIGHT NOW, then he is also saying that Obama must also be ready.
