John McCain has chosen Sarah Palin to be his VP.

(CNN) – Sen. John McCain has chosen Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice-presidential candidate on the Republican ticket for the White House in November, a senior McCain campaign official has told CNN.

Watch: McCain introduces Sarah Palin as his VP

Palin, 44, is a first-term governor who unseated incumbent Gov. Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary in 2006 and went on to defeat former Gov. Tony Knowles, a Democrat, in the general election.

An advocate of drilling for oil in her state's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, she is little known outside of Alaska.

So, what are her qualifications to the Commander in Chief?

Younger than Obama. So unknown that she is a wildcard. Not even one full term as governor of Alaska.

She hasn't even got any Washington expereience, good or bad. What a stupid choice! Thank you, John McCain!

I was a Hillary Clinton supporter seriously worried about Barack Obama's experience. I know Governor Palin, and I think she is a fantastic choice for Senator McCain. She actually has more executive experience than Senator Obama. I have been wavering on which way to go, and this pick solidifies it for me. Senator McCain is ready to be president, and I can cast my ballot for a woman that I really admire. Senator McCain, you have my vote.

This women is not Hilary. What experience does she have. Women said over and over again that they voted for Hilary because she was the most experienced? How does this woman compare? no contest. PANDER BEAR is awake and growling. With this pick, McCain says experience doesn't matter. There is no reason to vote for a party that failed americans. END OF STORY.

Awesome! Palin is a breath of fresh air!

The difference between Palin and Obama is that Palin is the VP, not running for President. In addition, she has a history of success, not corruption.

    McCain/Palin 08!!! Woot!

Sad choice. Romney was the right guy to choose.

Sorry, Juan McCain, you just lost my vote. Guess I'm not voting this time since I can't vote for a RINO and I certainly can't vote for the Socialist.

NOT GOOD. The fact that she is a woman will get McBush in office and continue the downward spiral.

Young, inexperienced mother of five. What happens if John McCain expires and Sarah Palain becomes our president?? She didn't think she even had a chance to become his V.P. She has way to many things on her plate. Barack/Biden '08

    huh?
So what are the requirements for VP these days?

With a resume like Palin's, I think that I could achieve consideration for VP in a couple of years LOL.

good choice. She has about the same experience as obama. He was a "community advocate" and a senator for a few years. She has been a governor for a few years.

No matter how you look at it governor > senator.

And another difference, she's NOT running for President

one year as governor of a tiny (electorally) state. and before that, a city councilwoman. and the Repubs say obama is inexperienced??? pure hypocrisy.

stick a fork in mccain, he's done.

(and ladies, both mccain and palin are anti-choice, and want to overturn roe v. wade. think about it)

How in the world can a woman with 1-1/2 years of experience as Governor, with no experience in national security issues, possibly be picked as a running mate by the oldest man ever to run for President. Is McCain senile, or does he think he'll live forever? What in heck does he think is going to happen if he can't serve? Oh, my God, the Republicans really do want to destroy this country!

What a stupid choice, but maybe Obama has a chance now. A 44 year old woman from Alaska with no experience to be the VP for an old man. If something happens to him, do we want her as President? I don't think so.

    You just blew it McBush.

I just can't wait for the VP debate!!!!!
Whoever is moderating can't complete doing the GOP bidding and keep foreign policy completely out of it.
Biden will filet her and deliver her in bite sized chunks for the McCain camp to eat with their humble pie come November.

Can we also start talking about Alaska politics now CNN – lets have a discussion about corruption and Ted Stevens and the Alaskan GOP

I have her campaign slogan right here:

Pallin – The Most Transparent Choice.

Just wait unti everybody sees her big ties to big oil, can't wait!!! Now if Hillary voters back McCain, they'll be giving this no-name the experience to run against Hillary when Hillary runs again. Better think about controlling your emotions, Hillary supporters and PUMAs.

While it's always wonderful to see more women on the national political stage, I have to wonder how McCain can continue to bash Obama's "lack of experience," considering his VP nominee is no more experienced.
