Biden: Palin's good-looking

Biden and Obama campaigned in Ohio Sunday.
Biden and Obama campaigned in Ohio Sunday.

TOLEDO, Ohio (CNN) – Joe Biden says there are obvious differences between himself and fellow vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, but they’re not just on policy. She’s good-looking.

“There’s a gigantic difference between John McCain and Barack Obama and between me and I suspect my vice presidential opponent,” Biden said at an outdoor rally Sunday, getting ready to hit the GOP ticket for their economic policies.

“She’s good-looking,” he quipped.

“You are gorgeous!” a female supporter in the audience shouted out. Biden asked her to repeat it into the microphone so his wife at home would hear.

“I haven’t heard that in a long, long, long time,” Biden said as the audience laughed. “Being around this lean young-looking guy is making me feel pretty old, you know what I mean? I thought I was in pretty good shape until I hung out with this guy.”

At the rooftop rally, both Biden and Obama commented on Palin for the first time without prompting from reporters. Obama joked he’s now considering going to Palin’s home state of Alaska – the only state he says he hasn’t visited – but chose to focus his comments on her position on equal pay for women.

“John McCain’s new VP nominee seems like a very engaging person, a nice person. But I’ve got to say, she’s opposed – like John McCain is – to equal pay for equal work. That doesn’t make much sense to me.”

Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella called Obama's comments a disgrace and "an absurd accusation."

Obama later made sure his running mate realizes he's good-looking as well.

“You see, she thinks you’re gorgeous too Joe,” said Obama. “Jill goes back home and look what happens!”

“This is worth the run,” responded Biden.

    Palin is George Bush in a dress. You don't have to vote for Obama, but just don't vote for McCain/Palin. Write in someone or leave it blank. This is not about gynecology, it is about Ideology! As if I would vote just because someone is female. Bite me, Republicans.

    P.S. – McCain vetting team, I was head of the chess club and female, can I have a cabinet post?

    JEE...get over yourself. She was a beauty queen and yes she's hot. Why is that so hard to accept? Enough with this sexism crap!! Tell Palin to cut off her nose if acknowledging her good looks annoy her!

    CNN, Obama didn't make the comment....Biden did but you are in such a hurry to start the sexist storyline that you jumped the gun.

    TO ALL FELLOW OBAMA SUPPORTERS:
    IN MEMORY OF KATRINA VICTIMS, LET US SUSPEND OUR DIFFERENCES WITH THE OTHER SIDE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. LET US SEARCH OBAMA'S WEB SITE AND OTHERS TO FIND WAYS TO HELP THIS BATTERED REGION.

    Who cares – does anybody think she's visually ugly? From my research on Governor Palin it would appear though that the beauty, as is so often the case, may very well be only skin deep.

    If you are a female and play in politics. Then you are fair game. You want equal pay. Then take the equal bashing that goes along with politic.

    Don't look for your female side to be respected. If you are running for the same office as a male. I'm so sick of you females with this garbage.

    Now all of a sudden, Gov. Palin is on the GOP ticket and they want to change Washington. Today I watch her speech. The supporter was chating. Yes we can, how funny, but they will say BO is not ready to lead. Guess what. Bush is following BO and now McCopy is following
    BO. My question to the American people. Who is the leader? Can't guess. Answer Barack Obama.

    Gov. Palin don't even come close to Hillary!

    Oh and I'm female.

    well palin is good looking... thats why mccain picked her.
    McPander wanted a woman to get the PUMA crowd and what does he choose out of a whole list of Republican women? a former beauty pageant contestant who's been in political office less than obama has been running for prez who pretty much totes the perfect example of right wing party ideology
    pro-life
    pro-gun
    pro-oil
    anti-enviroment

    oh well, mccain likes them young and attractive, perhaps palin and cindy and pose together at the next buffalo chip bikini contest.

    Dear Jessica,

    If Palin were a man, she would not even be the VP pick> The only reason McCain picked her was because she was a woman. What a joke. She is no Hillary and she will not get my vote or my families vote.

    Are you kidding me? CNN picks one line out of his statement and attempts to fabricate controversy. This election is too important for the news agencies to be playing around with this total nonsense. As Senator Obama stated let the silly season begin. Report on the issues, please!!!

    Why is everyone getting upset about what he said. Rush Limbaugh was the first to say it and it didnt offend anyone. Would it have been better if he had said she was ugly.

    I guess when people jump on you for everything you say, and can't jump on you for what you've done, you must be doing something right.

    So what if red-blooded men think she's a hottie! It's just a statement, like "Mission Accomplished", which according to the GOP didn't mean a thing.

    WOW !!! All the comments made by the right wing about Senator Clinton and even Palin calling her a whiner and the Republicans want to start screaming and whining about Senator Biden's remarks. Even people in her own party have talked about her looks and that she was a beauty pageant winner.

    Palin = dead polar bears.

    McCain = invading Iran.

    Obama = lying politician.

    Biden = loose cannon.

    I'd rather have a liar and someone who foam at the mouth before I'd ever support a ticket with PALIN on it. She conserves wildlife life like a jam maker conserves strawberries.

    Ken: you said that 'I don't think you are going to locate "shady" dealings in her background.' So you are not aware that she is currently being investigated for pushing to have her brother in law fired while he was going thru a messy divorce with Gov Palin's sister? She was also whole heatedly endorsed by the corrupt Ted Stevens. I have video proof of both!

    But you know what, she did do some serious, hard hitting reform work. So much so that she all but lost the Republican parties support in her first year; she has less then two years in office btw

    There are good things and bad things about Sarah Palin, and IMHO, the bad far outweigh the good. I think Huckabee would have been a far better choice for McCain's ticket. He is also an outsider, has strong religious ties and is proved to be very charismatic and capable of running a good campaign on a tight budget.

    McCain is more concerned with politics than America's safety, if he thinks Palin is qualified to look Putin in the eye.

    PEOPLE, PLEASE! Gov Palin is a woman, a mother, a wife and a well respected governor in a state truly run by men! Give her more respect than what it seems to be right now. Jokes as subtle as "she's good looking" only go back to the little old sexist joke about the pretty office worker who is just there to make the guys happy.

    How dare Obama or even Biden talk about her supposed lack of experience and HOW DARE CNN make such a big deal out of it when they have YET to make the same big deal about OBAMA!!! If we are to discuss her 'lack of experience' then let the conversation contain Obama as well.

    We must remember that McCain will leave office after his run as president by walking abroad the presidential helicopter himself like many other presidents. So Palin will not have to worry too much about being president until her TRUE time comes. Now Obama, well, he has to take a training course if he is elected before he gets behind the big desk.

    I don't think you are going to locate "shady" dealings in her background. by Ken, Virginia

    -She is under 'ethics' investigation now ... huh? How could you say you will not find shady dealings. The calls came from 'her' house eventhough she says her husband made them and she had no knowledge ... And now everyone wants to say it's ok because her ex-brother in law was a drunk suspected of child abuse ... If that was the case, let the cops and the judicial system handle .. for the governor to apply pressure is still wrong no matter how good her intentions were ... So there is 'shade' in Palins past/present/future

    People, let's not focus on this trival crap! Focus on this country and the risk that we are all going to be in if McSane is elected President. For me, that's more substantial than what Sarah looks like! Let's keep this conversation about the meat and gravy issues! I don't know about you guys, but Iam very afraid of this choice!

    Tom as for Palin getting the female vote because Obama is getting the black vote, speaks volumes about your character.

    Here is the rundown on the black communities voting history: Mondale=87% BV (Black Vote) Clinton=91 and 94% respectively (both more than Obama) Gore=90% and Kerry=88%.

    So unlike so many other factions in this country blacks vote their party and economic and social interests, so Sen. Clinton would have been receiving the same support had she been the nominee.

    Your suugestion reeks of sexism and racism, enlighten yourself.

    Well, well, well....my take on this is vastly different. These two people make me sick, and I'm not talking about Senator McCain and Governor Palin. With reference to the stupid, put-down remarks of both Dem candidates, I say at least John McCain does not feel threatened at having a woman campaigning at his side. Poor Hillary, you never had a chance with these two sexist rebrobates. After this, I'm even more proud to join the host of Hillary women who for sure will vote for McCain/Palin. To Joe (Gorgeous) Biden and Barack (the chosen one) I ask what will President Merckel of Germany say when she hears your remarks directed to the only woman in the race. Do I hear an apology coming down?

    Am I the only person disgusted and offended that Palin continues to have a discussion about "choosing" to keep her child who has down syndrome. Does this mean that she actually thought about having an abortion? I believe that even having these thoughts would make her a hypocrite. You have to question her values as she continues to use this child as political gain.

    There are many pro-choice women that have made the same decision to give birth and raise a child with down syndrome. I find this argument appalling and offensive.

    Eight sitting presidents have died in office. That's ONE in FIVE!

    Now McCain – a 72-year-old, four-time cancer survivor – wants us to risk having Miss Alaska with her finger on The Button?!?!

    Palin was picked out of right-wing pandering, tokenism and desperation. Women of America, please don't fall for this shameless ploy. She has two X chromosomes but she ain't no Hillary, she’s not even a Kay Bailey Hutchinson or another *qualified* Rep. Female. (And, in fairness, there are several.)

    I guess McCain wasn’t satisfied ditching his first wife on her death bed and gold-digging for a trophy wife, now he’s got himself a trophy VP as well. What character this guy has! (Wait for it… insert the GOP playing the POW-card here.)

    Ironic, isn’t it that McCain is always claiming that Obama would rather lose a war to win an election and then he pulls this irresponsible stunt ?!?!

    He should stick to the issues.
