I am sure McCain is so disappointed that King George will not be at the convention. Because we all know how important that it was for Bush to be there! I would just love to hear a new speech about his strategery in Iraq or about how "more and more of our imports come from overseas, or my how there are rumors on the INTERNETS about the Republican party or "Pubs". The history books will tell of how Bush was one of the worst Presidents in (as he would say) AMURICUN history.

I hope he speaks at the convention so everyone can see how identical he is to John McCain. For how unpopular George Bush is everywhere, it is strange that someone that voted with him 95% of the time could even be competing with Barack Obama.

Just goes to show how party politics really hurts our political process. John Adams had it right from the start....

How convenient - for both McCain and Bush.
That way McCain still avoids having to hug and stand should to shoulder with his icon, the great role model of the Replublican party.

But I hope it really does happen, at least. I can't wait to hear the wisdom star dust sprinkling out of Bush...

I concur with Earl and Dori.

I thought McCain would be just like Bush, but I was wrong. He is worse. And so is his VP pick. I wonder what else will come out about Palin in the next couple of days?

The delegates at the Republican convention may still support George Bush but the majority of the American electorate does not. Bush appearing at the convention with John McCane would, in no way, enhances his chances of an election victory in November. John McCane was, at one time, a good and decent man who I held in high regard but, since entering this campaign, he is just another far-right politican whose embraces the policies of the Republican Party that are no longer relevant in our country. I see McCane as the past and Obama as the future.

Spare us!!!!

Don't waste prime time TV on this irrelevant criminal!!

It'll be nice Cheney is out of the country, but at what expense? Instigating more problems with Russia?

How about Bush responding to Russia's charge that we supplied Georgia with weapons??????

Maybe Bush should be giving a satellite interview for a new job, something more on his level -- RETIRED from public life.

Will he be wearing his republican hat or his American hat?
He is so pathetic. He has ruined our country's standing in the world. He has ruined the well-being of millions of Americans and lined the pockets of cronies. The republicans are really glad he didn't appear in person - especially McBush. I can't wait for his term to be over and for President Obama to give our beloved country a refreshing change and a path to greatness once again.

McCain now Bush are running away from doing a speech via satellite to avoid Americans seeing how unintelligent they are without reading every single word. These two guys didn't do too well in first grade because they were able to hide behind being bullies. Ignorance is bliss.

I figure the real reason Bush & Cheney bowed out of speaking at the convention was that they were afraid they would get booed right off the podium. I think the majority of Republicans are as fed up and sick of both of them as the rest of the country is. They just saw the hurricane as an "excuse" to not go to the convention.

I can hardly wait to hear him speak. He should have an opportunity to detail all of his accomplishments over the past 8 years. This should take 20 to 30 seconds and the convention can move on.

I think George would do himself a lot of good if he were to say--- My administration wasn't there when the American people needed them most during Katrina. I will do everything in my power to make sure what happened in Katrina, doesn't happen again.....

He'd get a few points in my book. Right now everything surrounding Gustav appears politically driven.

Finally I think it would have said lots if the RNC didn't let Bush speak--- unless Bush is going to separate himself from McCain--- I don't see how this helps me support McCain.

Bush just wasn't the greatest president .

President Bush, perhaps an apology is in order? I voted for you twice, and am very sorry with what I got in return. Never has our country been in such shaky condition...and yet you seem to show no concern. I am a Republican voting for Obama and Biden in 2008. Despite all the rubbish McCain throws at him, Obama sticks to his message, which is that our country is too Great to let it go down the drain in this way. Let's fight to make it strong once again!

Gosh America wake up!....the greatest democracy in the world and we might elect another 4 years of the last 8.

I think as American we have a solemn and important duty to put our prejudices and predispositions aside and elect the BEST President....not someone who agrees with OUR positions on cultural and religious beliefs.

I am a Catholic but do i want a "Pope and chief" or a President. It is so obvious that Obama-Biden is our best candidate for President/Vice-President

Vote the best candidate...to fix this country...that's what democracy is about...Vote with your head not your hate!
