Palin backed abstinence education

(CNN) – Sarah Palin, who announced on Monday that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, indicated during her run for Alaska governor that she was a firm supporter of abstinence-only education in schools.

In a 2006 Eagle Forum questionnaire, Palin indicated that she supported funding abstinence-until-marriage education programs instead of teaching sex-education programs.

"Explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support," Palin wrote in the conservative group’s questionnaire.

The "abstinence-only" philosophy that she surely taught her daughter worked pretty well.

Holy Moses, how naive can you be? This is what they call ostrich policy. So are we going to have ostrich policy for the next four years? Hope not.

Exactly what we need in office...normal people, not highly educated people with excellent leadership skills and exceptional character. God forbid we follow the best of us. Let's just follow some normal, dysfunctional folks into the abyss.

The McCain aide insisted a key point to keep in mind is that Bristol decided to keep the baby, a decision "supported by her parents."

I think the key point is Bris didn't have the information to prevent an unintended pregnancy. Palin is cut from the same cloth as those how would let their daughters die of cervical cancer so they may fell sanctimonious about opposing sex outside of marriage. And she doesn't believe in evolution. Sarah? How old is the earth?

I Guess Her Daughter Didnt Listen Or Her Mother Was On The Campaign Trail! If You Say Attention To Your Children Things Like This Are Less Likely To Happen!

So what? What is your point?

So teaching isn't always 100% successful – lets scrap it altogether?

Obama is for it also... and his children may get pregnant as well.

Parents can teach... they can't force or imprison their children.

Abortion must be MUCH better. Much more moral.

I guess getting an Abortion is better because NO ONE knows about it and can berate you for it?

Unfortunately, even her daughter's misfortune probably won't be enough to change Palin's dangerous political position.

Haha what a perfect example of abstinence-only education. Good job Palin...NOT. I know its horrible to judge, but I'd bet something that her daughter heard a few false statements on condoms and decided "who needs it?" Yea?
