McCain should have select another VP. Palin just will not work

Unless Obama kills someone, or killed someone back in 1984, I'm voting for him no matter what.

It's not the fact that he had a DWI many years ago – wouldn't he have to obtain a special security clearance to travel to other countries and how would he get security clearance in the White House. My understanding is that George Bush also had to get certain clearances because of his DWI; correct me if I am wrong; I am writing from Canada and I know that anyone in his country cannot travel to other countries with a DWI record without special consideration, and depending on who you are – you don't get that clearance. I know this is a fact in a lot of other countries as well.

Or how a woman who preaches abstinence only sexual education will become a grandmother at 44 because her 17 year old daughter gets knocked up?

What was McCain thinking about?

Take a look at the Internet and you will see that the caribou, which Sarah Palin (Pain) shoots, skins and eats with zest is on the endangered species list.

It is obvious to me that John McCain doesn't care one bit what happens to this country should he win the Presidency and after he is gone, v. likely with his health history, v. suddenly. Having her as VP - a heartbeat away from becoming President is truly a scary prospect for countless numbers of reasons. If she really cared about this country, she would have acknowledged her limitations and not accepted the offer to become John McCain's offer.

With the loss of Hillary Clinton, whom I had hoped would be the Democratic candidate, I will not only vote for Barak Obama but will become a volunteer. And I'm disabled.

And I had one in 1989. Big deal. He obviously learned his lesson and moved on, or he would have had another one by now. Seriously, the liberals must be getting very worried to go back that far to dig up "dirt" on Palin. Is this all they can find? Gimme a break!

Let's not get carried away here, this is not really an issue 20 plus years later. The issue is that Gov. Palin is not now and never was qualified for this one-last-breath-away from the oval office job! As a man she would never have been considered for even a minute! As a woman, an independent, a mother and grandmother, I find this insulting to my intelligence. My decision was made by this move of McCain's.

This DUI was so long ago that I don't think it is relevant now. However agree with many of you as to the McCain vetting process. As for Sarah Palan's daughter, team McCain should have worked that into Palin's introductory speech, i.e. I am a soccer mom and soon to be gramma, three days ago when they unveiled their VP choice. Yes it would have been a surprise but it would have been over and done with by now as part of Sarah Palin's story. Revealing this now has brought her daughter into a brighter spotlight and she is now the story which is very sad for this 17 year old.

I bet the GOP hopes their entire convention gets cancelled due to the hurricane so they can avoid drawing attention to their BIG MISTAKE!

I am very much for Obama & Biden!! But this was 24 years ago. So although the Palins high moral ground that they stand on does seem to be questionable I can't hold this one against them. If was 2,3,4 years ago maybe.

I've had 3 friends killed by drunk drivers along with my dads brother and his 2 month old daughter. I also have friends with DUI's that are good people and would never want to harm anyone. Either way this is a moot article when a hurricane is destroying millions of peoples lives as we speak.

If Governor Palin has such a wonderful personality, why wasn't she able to reach her teenage daughter in a way that prevented her from having unprotected sex?? Her daughter was lucky not to get an STD. One of the great problems in America is unmarried teenage pregnancy. And now we are going to have a pregnant unwedded mother living in the White House...GREAT!!! HUH!!

Unfortunately for Sarah Palin John McCain was not wise enough to properly "vet" her so these damaging stories could not cast she and her family, (the nation's potentially 2nd family) in a negative light. But at the end of the day, what do these newest revelations say about Senator McCain's judgment in selecting Palin, and what does it say about Palin's parenting skills and family values (a theme the Republicans are so fond of), when her teenage daughter is already having unprotected sex, and as a result is now pregnant (it would also be interesting to know if the mom-to-be was 16 or 17 when she conceived this child).
Not only does Bristol’s pregnancy mean that both mother and daughter will each give birth during the same year, but perhaps Palin and the Republicans are forcing a shotgun wedding upon the father, whose age is not yet known.
The Democrats have already questioned McCain's judgment, and now his VP selection corroborates their concerns because even if he was anxious to steal the Democrats' thunder by announcing a female running mate, there were several other women he could have selected.

No matter how you feel about the Democratic ticket at least the one with the lesser experience was ELECTED, and made a VP selection of someone who would bring balance to the ticket and provides some responsibility. The Republican VP was SELECTED by one man that actually believes the Republican statements and beliefs as outlined above.
