ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) - A senior adviser to the McCain campaign confirmed Monday that Todd Palin, husband to Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in 1984.

"Yes, 24 years ago he had a DWI," senior McCain adviser Steve Schmidt told reporters in St. Paul.

Schmidt was asked if he was worried about the news, and replied, “I was not.”

The story was first reported by David Brody, a CNN contributor and Christian Broadcasting Network News Senior National Correspondent.

Didn’t Sarah Palin star in a television show in 2006 called Commander in Chief. She played a Vice President of a Republican President who suddenly dies in office, and she becomes the Commander in Chief. Oh, wait…that was Geena Davis. As I recall, the show was rather quickly cancelled because of LOW RATINGS!!! But, I guess we know one guy in politics that seemed to like it, and since he couldn’t appoint Geena Davis to be his VP…

It looks like for the Republicans the real storm is coming from the North.

This just shows how totally unprepared John McCain is to lead. By putting his personal short term political ambitions ahead of his country in his selection of Sarah Palin, he ignored the vetting process that should have let him be privvy to the landslide of negative information coming forth about the Palins.

She's under investigation for federal corruption charges and the family hid the fact that their seventeen year old daughter is pregant until bloggers caught on to the fact.

This is politics as usual. Eight is enough.

    Throw these bums out!

Ok...I'm an Obama supporter, but this is such a none issue. It happened in 1986 come on! But these are the things that the McCain campaign should have found if they had properly vetted her!

  8. NO SIDEKICK MCCAIN

Obviously McCain chose this woman as a political stunt and never vetted her and family. Now that they have 60 days or so left they are going through records but I say TOO LITTLE TOO LATE. The journalist was headed to Alaska and on the ground running before McCain camp could hide the truth. I look forward to the next couple of weeks to see how they handle the conflicts sure to brew over his pick.

    VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN 08/12

McCain's VP daughter is pregnant out of wedlock and no one seems to see a problem with this teen pregnancy is already a problem in this nation; Palin needs to take care of her own home first before jumping on her high horse. How can she help the nation with this issue? Also how about Palin's husbands DWI charge yeah this is the perfect family to put in the White House lol!!

What does this have to do with the future of the country? What REALLY matter is how many cavities Sarah's grandmother had.

Why don't you guys also look into NoBomas drug and gay allegations. No because you and Brokov and all the other "journalists" only leak stories damaging to repubs.

This isn't big news; the bigger news is that her daughter is pregnant, her husband works for an oil company, and her office is under federal investigation. That's tree strikes, red flags, or what ever you want to call it.

  23. Wow...

Pregnant teen daughter, husband with a DUI... By picking Palin, it seems Sen. McCain has decided to deny Republicans both the "experience" and "morality/family values" talking points that they love to drag out for every election. Now if only he'd stop using "noun...verb... POW" for every question he gets, we might have a real discussion on issues.

This DWI arrest was in 1984 – 24 years ago! Hardly relevant to this campaign. If his arrest had been in the last 5 – 10 years, I would be concerned.
