Laura Bush and Cindy McCain will address the convention.

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) – Cindy McCain and first lady Laura Bush will appear before the Republican convention Monday to encourage people to donate to the relief efforts in the Gulf region, a senior McCain campaign official told reporters in a conference call.

Watch: Cindy McCain and Laura Bush meet some delegates

Republican officials have dramatically scaled back the first day of the convention as Hurricane Gustav slammed into the Louisiana coast. In addition to Bush and McCain appearances, the convention will perform the bare bones official business needed to start the convention. Rick Davis, John McCain’s campaign manager, emphasized that all political activity will be suspended for the time being.

“We hope to regain our schedule at some point,” Davis said.

Davis also said that Target and FedEx will help convention attendees and the Red Cross send care packages to the Gulf region. Later in the week, delegates, staff and other volunteers will meet in Minneapolis to assemble the care packages. In addition, the McCain campaign is setting up a phone bank in the Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis to raise money for Gulf Coast charities.

Well good. It still cannot undue the harm done when Bush and McSame ignored Katrina. Appreciated but, as usual with republicams, too little too late.

bob in LA   September 1st, 2008 1:02 pm ET

The storm has not hit. The hurricane has been down-graded, yet the Republicans will turn this into a political event.
Where were these hypocrits 3 years ago?
Tell Laura and Cindy to cough-up their money and not ask the people of this country who have been devistated financially by the Republican leadership.

Enlightened Voter   September 1st, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Although they are probably okay ladies you couldn't pay me to watch either of them or any part of the sham that is the repuglican convention. And Kris, you must have had your ignorant ear muffs on when during the DNC convention when the repuglican politician prayed for rain during the convention. You repuglicans are so hypocritical! How do you guys sleep at night? And what is Obama supposed to do for the victims in Louisiana?" The same thing mccain will do, nothing because they can't, they aren't in charge yet you moron.

Someone in Ohio   September 1st, 2008 1:02 pm ET

@Kris
The "Obama gang" did not make those comments. Would you like us to pin the words of every single Republican on the "McCain gang" as well? Because multiple Republicans have said that natural disasters were punishing groups of people they didn't like before.

Rayna Hernandez   September 1st, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Yeah, and I believe when Katrina happened, John McCain and George Bush were ummmm... Celebrating John McCain's birthday, which is soo much more important, so Kris, you have the right idea about these guys.. It's not like they're doing this for political purposes..oh wait...

Millisa in Oregon   September 1st, 2008 12:58 pm ET

It just keeps getting better and better. The Republicans will be serving the White House on a silver platter to the Democrats come November. Thank you McCain for your fine choice. Obama Baby!

Saba   September 1st, 2008 12:57 pm ET

I respect Laura Bush and she will make a nice speech. But Cindy
better stay home and be save from shaking hands and get strained again. Believe me, you NEVER outshine Michelle.

BSmith for Obama   September 1st, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Our donations would certainly be more useful than a bunch of Republicans wetting their windbreakers to pose for the cameras.

nothing but the facts   September 1st, 2008 12:56 pm ET

How strange....Obama said he was going to do exactly these things
that McSame is doing now...why didn't he think about them before
Obama mentioned? Everything Obama mentions McSame copies...
surprise, surprise...He is looking for a goverment of CHANGE????
Who decided first of government of change?
Now he is going to take this mess in the South as...."look at me" I am
sooooo good! Vote for me....Sorry, it is not going to work either!!!

cindy   September 1st, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Kris, I'm on Obama's e-mail list and will certainly help out financially if called upon from Obama's camp to do so. I feel that Laura Bush and Cindy McCain, I will tune into and listen. Their husbands I wouldn't. I have admiration for those two women, even tho I'm on the blue team.

Roxy, New York   September 1st, 2008 12:53 pm ET

How exciting. NOT!!! Just kidding. I love Laura Bush. She's a true lady. I used to like Cindy McCain, but lately she seems like just a shadow of her past self.

mrreal   September 1st, 2008 12:52 pm ET

Are you serious??? Is this all the GOP have now? America let me just say no disrespect to either lady but be the smart ones and leave the shame to Mcbush>>>>>>>>>>>>>>your husbands

Saul-Independent   September 1st, 2008 12:52 pm ET

Kris,
I am part of Obama's e-mail list and i am willing to contribute immensely toward helping Storm victims. I also know many people on this list that are willing to volunteer and contribute toward helping others. Your comments about what Obama is able to do with this e-mail list is ill-inform and naive. Think before you make such stupid comment. You can dislike Obama, but do not belittle such an effort.

Viola   September 1st, 2008 12:51 pm ET

After 3 years, they are now concern, how touching. Instead of raising funds for the citizens, why don't they just release the funds that Mr. Bush pledged back in 2005. The FRAUD is this administration's response in 2005 and their fake concern in 2008. I guess the people on the Gulf Coast should be happy that this time "Brownie" is no where insight and Mr. Bush is not on vacation and Condi's not shopping for shoes in NY.

mark   September 1st, 2008 12:50 pm ET

Think about who's the FRAUD and hypocrits... GOP flopping between being positive and negative if it helps them. And dont' tell me they are about people in need. Where were they the first time.

Pat Carpenter   September 1st, 2008 12:50 pm ET

Kris,

That email list has generated twice the money that the Republicans got from the lobbyist. In addition, when some one on a fixed income like myself donates $50.00, thats 1/16 of my income, whereas the lobbyist donate chump change compared to their total available.

Anthony Caudill   September 1st, 2008 12:50 pm ET

Since when do campaigns raise money for charities? That is misrepresentation at its worst, and shows just how low McCain really is.

D. Stein   September 1st, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Okay, this is the McCain I have known for the last 25 years...part of the Keating 5...such good judgment and depth of character...too bad for the Repbulican party. Great way to keep the attention off the issues!!!

pat C.   September 1st, 2008 12:46 pm ET

THIS WILL BE ONE WASTE OF TONIGHT. HOPE SOMETHING GOOD IS RUNNING ON ANOTHER CHANEL.

Jon   September 1st, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Senator McCain voted against Katrina relief multiple times in 2005...now he's helping out the Louisiana region? or is it because he's trying to gain some votes much like him picking the inexperienced Sarah Palin to gain disgruntled Hillary voters. No Way, No How, NO MCCAIN!

Dave from Gainesville   September 1st, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Maybe Cindy will say once again that Palin's foreign policy experience arises from the fact that "Alaska is close to Russia"?

fred   September 1st, 2008 12:42 pm ET

See, this is what COUNTRY FIRST really means.

Bobby   September 1st, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Kelby in Houston   September 1st, 2008 12:40 pm ET

They haven't even spoken at the convention yet...lol..
Anyway, the reason that people are in need is because of the GOP. And in order to help the people in need the DNC needs to acquire more Senate seats, enough to block a philabuster or a veto. This is the party that helped strike down the expansion of CHIP, fought global warming and the scientist tooth and nail. This is the party that was all lip service when it came to alternative energy sources and voted against them when the time came. This is the same party that John McCain the Maverick had fight to get them to do the right thing. He earned the title "Maverick" going against this party's initial desire.

YOU HAVE HAD YOUR CHANCE REPUBLICANS.
This party has had over the Congress and the executive branch. You have scared Americans into voting you into office in overwhelming numbers across the nation. You put your policies and focus in place with disastrous results. YOU HAVE FAILED US AND YOURSELVES!

I will watch your convention but sheesh! Could you give me headline speakers that actually effect policy? That's okay. Right now, this party knows it stinks. That's why many of your party members are skipping this convention. But, I won't, I gotta hear this. It's gonna be like a punchline to a bad joke.

Dem for unity   September 1st, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Not a republican that is for sure but can respect efforts by the 1st Lady and potential 1st Lady to encourage support for relief of the Hurricane. Lets all have the poeple effected by this in our prayers.

M. Winners, Mesa, AZ   September 1st, 2008 12:38 pm ET

To quote Cheney as to these two speaking – "So".
All they are going to do is try and spin the repub convention into an advertisement about how "partriotic" they are for "giving up" their convention festivities – never mind that it's the HUMANITARIAN thing to do!
McCain gives us a clue as to how they are going to try and spin this when he says "Lets take of our republican hats and put on our American hats". Can it be any more obvious that the repubs are trying to make patriotic hay rather than genuine concern for fellow citizens?
Don't buy this necon BS America!

Mary in CT   September 1st, 2008 12:37 pm ET

Kris,
Obama's "email list" has enabled him to raise record amounts of money for his campaign and for the DNC. If he sends a message directly to his supporters encouraging them to help, there will be a response. He has also made appeals via radio and television. Mrs. Bush and Mrs. McCain are making an announcement at the GOP convention. Everyone should do what they can. Why don't you follow John McCain's example and think like an American instead of like a partisan dittohead?

Robert   September 1st, 2008 12:37 pm ET

God Bless these 2 ladies! I am happy that these 2 ladies have always loved America and have been proud of our country! I am happy the GOP and RNC will put the people first during this national crisis. I have now decided to vote for McCain/Palin!

BK   September 1st, 2008 12:36 pm ET

Thanks Mrs. Bush and Mrs. McCain. Obama will call his email list. The thoughts of Obama leading this country scare me to death. Everyone looks at the glitz and the glimmer and don't listen to the words. If we don't quit spending and balance the budget, China will own this country.

TEXAN for OBAMA!!!   September 1st, 2008 12:35 pm ET

Okay, so Michelle speaks on the first night of the DNC Convention and does an excellent job! Now, all of a sudden Cindy McCain is speaking on the first night of the RNC convention. BE ORIGINAL!!!

Kris – As for as the comments on the hurricane, instead of pointing to the Obama camp, you need to turn to James Dobson who prayed for rain on the day of Obama's speech.

And Kris, what did the Bush administration do about helping people in need? Thousands of people died in N.O. So please, I know the brillance of Obama and his staff is upsetting the heck out of you (e-mail list comment), but please, c'mon give honor to whom honor is due – BARACK OBAMMA!!!!!

Rob   September 1st, 2008 12:32 pm ET

the McCain campaign is a complete disaster – it's just been announced that Palins 17 year old daughter is 5 months pregnant. So much for conservative values. Palin obviously wasn't even vetted. McCain isn't fit to lead a parade never mind a country.

patrick   September 1st, 2008 12:32 pm ET

Kris, its called "Donors" thats what the email list is for. im sure you read that in the article, yet chose to read what you wanted to read.

Furthermore, how much do you really think Mccain can do anymore then anybody else. He is NOT president!

It s all on Bush!!

OBAMA WAS ELECTED PALIN WAS SELECTED   September 1st, 2008 12:32 pm ET

Laura Bush stated this morning that Palin was qualified to be President because she had experience as a mayor.

Cindy McCain stated Sunday Palin had national security experience because Alaska was next to Russia.

QUESTIONS TO ALL THE MOTHER'S OF AMERICA'S CHILDREN

Are you willing to take a chance that the welfare and safety of your own children, may at sometime in the future be the responsibility of the Republican party that actually believes that anyone, male or female, with experience as a city council member and the mayor of a village of 9.000 for 8 of her 10 years of “executive” experience, actually qualifies the candidate for the top office in the land?

The same Republican party believes that the fact that the state, which has a total population of less than the city of Atlanta, and which she is the current governor of for all of 20 months, during which time she has already come under the cloud of possibly abusing the power of her office. and is currently being investigated, is actually qualified for national security because the state is next to Russia?

No matter how you may feel about the Democratic ticket at least the one with the lesser experience was ELECTED, and made a VP selection of someone who would bring balance the ticket The Republican VP was SELECTED by one man that actually believes the Republican statements outlined above.

You parents out there need to think long and hard about this ticket but more importantly about the Republican party which is apparently so welling to cater to the Far Right that the entire Republican party is willing to put your own kids future in jeopardy, just so they can win an election?

How exactly is that considered "Country First"?

JOHN   September 1st, 2008 12:30 pm ET

Uh........not that Im a fan of Obama or anything, but the former secretary of the Dem convention made that comment, not Obamas gang, get your facts straight. And second, the email list actually is the reason that obama has raised on average 57 mill a month while mccain relies on big lobby money to raise around 25-30 mill a month,, umm yea....get you facts straigth again Kris.
But I do think it is good that the RNC is suspending the convention to help out, and Im glad both candidates are making an effort....again political divison should end, its not about republciasn or democrats helpin,g we are doing s oas americans

Obama/Biden- YES

All about manipulation of voters. How come the same concern didn't exist during Katrina and Rita? Oh I see.. election year stunts!!! I voted Republican but can't stand this now. And, Sarah Palin nomination stinks even more.

Jose Cardenal   September 1st, 2008 12:28 pm ET

While I respect Laura Bush she and other GOP talking heads are now using the gender card. How dare you speak or say anything bad about Sarah Palin, if you do your being sexist. Maybe that's why the media has not given a true picture of who Sarah Palin really is, they are afraid of being called sexist. Laura Bush today used the gender card. What is truly sexist is if you vote for someone because of their gender on not based on the issues. These people are trying to put Palin on a pedestal because she is a woman. She is not a trophy. She is just another politicians who has certain policies and views that need to be looked at very closely.

where was mccain when katrina hit? o yeah, celebrating his birthday with his twin brother GW.

Liz   September 1st, 2008 12:25 pm ET

Maybe Obama's campaign can text his database members to request permission to contribute half of his campaign war chest to gulf coast charities?

Then Obama can follow through on his promise to accept public financing?

Teddy Teddy   September 1st, 2008 12:25 pm ET

The Republicans are old fashioned and do not really understand politics. It is high time the surrender to Obama Camp as they have lost touch. John Mccain is an old man and must take a rest and look after his family. For the fact that he has worn the US Army uniforms cannot make folks to elect him as President of USA. For a 72 year old man, he is only trying to make history as the oldest US President. Somebody who cannot remember how many houses he's got, do not know how to use computer and above all, chooses a lady who do not know anything outside Alaska as Vee Pee. That is to tell you how smart his brain is working. Quit now John MacCain.

They do not deserve to be pawns in a political game. At this moment, their safety is more important than political posturing from anyone.

lisa   September 1st, 2008 12:23 pm ET

give me a break, Kris. McShame is drawing resources away from the hurricane responders and obviously milking this disaster for all it's worth. During Katrina McShame was partying and eating birthday cake with Bush. Do you Americans have any memory at all?
This is great for McShame. So many repubs weren't showing up anyway, and now having bush drop out is the best thing to happen to his campaign.

Anthony   September 1st, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Trust the republican party to turn people's misfortune into political gain. What happened to FEMA and all the governmental agencies that are helping the victims. I forgot, NRC = Red Cross. Please stop this attempt to blackmail or bamboozle people regarding the elections. George W. Bush is a republican and we all know where he and McCain were during Katrina. All that said, don't forget that Obama's email list has raised the highest campaign contributions in the history of this US of America. So if that list moves, you can be sure that McSame and gang will be buried.

At a time like this, trashing one party or the other is simply unamerican. It's great that these two ladies are engaging in effort to help those in need. I don't care what their real agenda is but I think that is quite obvious as we remember the past. Obama is supportive too but everyone has their own way of helping. Should he plaster his face all over and engage in the political pandering? Think not...he is too American. too Presidential and too smart to use politics during this time of disaster. Let's give both sides our support in their individual efforts to help out! This is America we are supposed to be concerned about not our political future as some are making this out to be.

Anyone for President is better than McCain who is another 4 more years of the George W Bush, and anyone who is in their right mind would not cast a vote for McCain and his policcies of the past. I am not sure what McCain has on his little hidden agenda. He say's he would like to focus on the American people and put politics aside. But goes to New Orleans to what shake their hand and then what. It is all about politics-which is what he said he would not like to focus on. President Bush should truly be there as he failed the American people during Katrina. What the heck is McCain doing down there.....At least Obama is going to wait and visit after and help out accordingly after the hurricane. He is truly an upfront and honest person not putting politics first by going down there before the hurricane. He is not the president and the only hidden agenda he has is politics while he is down there, SHAME ON HIM!!!!

It is politics as usual for the Bush/McCain who would use the sad event of Gustav as a political weapon. They belong to the same group who had been praying for another terrorist attack (of the like of 9/11) to show what they consider as McCain's strength (which in reality is McCain's love for war). The same group who was praying for rain to rain out Obama's acceptance speech.

America, please let us not vote McCain and his team as they are no good for this great nation

La Raza   September 1st, 2008 12:06 pm ET

I like Laura, too bad she is married to an incompetent monkey.

steve dumford, Scotts valley ca.   September 1st, 2008 12:05 pm ET

So much for Greek Columns ,football stadiums and idol worship. Good job McCain.

S. Boatman   September 1st, 2008 12:05 pm ET

Cindy Mccain Is Going To Give A Speech Saying That Since Alaska Is Close To Russia That Means Palin Has Forge Policy Credentials! Ha Ha Ha! I Live In The State That Houses The Stealth Bombers. . . So I Am Qualified To Fly One! Ha Ha Ha!

sacto joe   September 1st, 2008 12:04 pm ET

Who cares? They aren't being nominated for President, like the flip-flopper Senator McCain who recently changed his mind about how important experience is to a potential Presidental candidate. They aren't being nominated for VP like Governor Palin, the female Dick Cheney.

We don't need liars and right wing bigots in the White House. Eight years is ENOUGH!

Shmoe   September 1st, 2008 12:03 pm ET

Kris,

It's quite amazing that you can spin the fact that because this Gustav is happening during the RNC (and the party has the full attention of the media) that somehow because the DNC is over, Obama and his campaign are doing nothing other than emailing people. Take a step back and look at your statements for a second - a rational person would realize what they're saying.

Deborah, Pittsburgh PA   September 1st, 2008 12:02 pm ET

Speaking of Cindy, she thinks that living next to Russia qualifies Sarah Palin for having foreign policy experience. God help us if McCain and Palin find it into the whitehouse. Maybe McCain pretends to care about hurricanes during election years, but let's remember that he and Bush were enjoying his birthday cake on a tarmac during Katrina.

Rob   September 1st, 2008 12:02 pm ET

wow–the Bush women talk .

Awet okbay   September 1st, 2008 12:01 pm ET

Please get this right America, we have the Dream Ticket right before us, making history for Election Year 2008. Barack Obama and Joe Biden will bring us hope again, changes that we so desparetly need and have needed for the last 8 years. I could go on forever when it comes to the Bush Administration but I shouldn't have too if you have been living in the same country I have, hearing a Huge Sucking Sound as our jobs are being sucked to China faster than the winds of Gustav could ever match. PLEASE for all of you Hillary Supporters, and you Undecided Voters.. November 4th, 2008 Vote for Barack Obama to be the Next President of the United States of America. Something has to GIVE/ Changes have to be made or we will eventually be a third world country, this is a very serious election, take it serious and VOTE OBAMA. Yes we can and Yes we will!!!

Ex-mod-GOP for Obama   September 1st, 2008 12:01 pm ET

The Republicans will no doubt use their admirable efforts to rally charity and volunteers for the inadmirable goal of defending their neglect for our infrastructure. Don't fall for the spin.

ryan   September 1st, 2008 12:01 pm ET

Im glad there asking for help now that it is an election year, where were they 3 years ago when katrina hit....oh yea No WHERE TO BE FOUND

Christie   September 1st, 2008 12:00 pm ET

Well tlhat's good that the two ladies have sense enough to push for some help. Last year was totally different when Busn was attending McCain's birthday party and neither of those two cared then or now. It's all political for McCain to get coverage!

mama4obama   September 1st, 2008 11:59 am ET

Kris- maybe you have forgotten about the McCain campaign doing the "rain dance" in hopes of a rainfall during the DNC convention.

What goes around comes back around......you should know better.

and...FYI....RNC and McCain are just following suit....Obama and Biden already beat them to the punch on raising money for the gulf region.

Dave   September 1st, 2008 11:58 am ET

Hey Kris:

Can't you tell political stunts when you see them, wake up. Everything the RNC is doing now is a pathetic attempt to save face after what happened with Katrina. If it wasn't an election year John McCain wouldn't give a flip about Louisiana.

Mike in Houston   September 1st, 2008 11:57 am ET

Kris,

I agree with you completely. I lived overseas for over 10 years, which means I have more foreign policy experience that Obama. What a joke that guy is, and Biden only adds to the misery.

leslie   September 1st, 2008 11:57 am ET

When McCain is back in the Senate maybe he will vote next time for Katrina relief.

Billy   September 1st, 2008 11:57 am ET

Will they explain why Palin lied about the bridge to nowhere?

M   September 1st, 2008 11:56 am ET

Kris, leave your hate comments at home where they belong.

NEVER OBAMA   September 1st, 2008 11:55 am ET

Barack Obama and Joe Biden don't stand a chance against John McCain and Sarah Palin.
McCain and Palin WILL clean up Washington.
I like John McCain. He has guts. Sarah Palin will make an excellent President for this country in 2012. This is a very smart lady with a good heart. She's young and full of piss and vinagar.SHE will be good for this country just as John McCain will be.
She truly is a breath of fresh air.

Kinda makes obama and his gang look even more dirty.

Gary Chandler in Canada   September 1st, 2008 11:55 am ET

The medium storm, Gustav, was actually a political gift to the Red team.
#1. It gave Bush and Cheney a quick out.
#2. They will SPIN all the previously confirmed 'no shows' into hurricane caused no shows.
#3. It took the extremely poor VP choice out of the head lines.
----
A badly divided and poorly attended convention, now, will not be seen. They got lucky!
(CNN make a list of those who had declared they would not attend, BEFORE Gustav reared its head.)

Lisa in NC   September 1st, 2008 11:54 am ET

Not having bush/ cheney speak is the best thing Mcsame has going for him at their convention. At least Laura can put a sentence together.
Not that I would want hear it.

True Independant   September 1st, 2008 11:53 am ET

Republicans are attempting to save face, we remember Katrina and will never forget. Stop the pandering!

Obama/Binden 08'

I don't believe it!   September 1st, 2008 11:51 am ET

Republican are only talking this stuff to get political gain.. They got their butts kicked last time (of course under GWB watch) Even after the the Hurricane happen last time we sat 5 days in water. (Under GWB watch) I was still living in a Trailer (under GWB watch) McCain, didn't do anything to help, only the Democrats.. So don't think you are going to make me change my mind.. I'm sick and tired of GWB and the Republican party, they are not help to us POOR People.

Cindy & Lori are both rich! Both have been rich all their lives. Cindy was born with a silver spoon. So she has no knowledge to know what us POOR people feel!

Jan   September 1st, 2008 11:51 am ET

Thank goodness someone cares about the American people. I am disgraced and disgusted about high profile democrats clapping in glee about the hurricane disrupting the Rep convention. I have news for you haters-an extravaganza debacle costing millions is not what America is all about. It was for Obama, Oprah, Gore and that poor joke of a VP candidate. Appears that the Republicans are super organized for this disaster–different than democrats who ran the state with Katrina.

E.C.Coleman   September 1st, 2008 11:51 am ET

GREAT! Two of the finest ladies in political circles will be speaking. Both are wonderful speakers and models for the GOP. Way to Go! Looks like N.O. escaped the 'big one' and both Bush and McCain will be able to attend the Convention!

Matt   September 1st, 2008 11:51 am ET

Watch out Obama's got something up his sleeve. He's not an idiot, and his campaign staff knows what they're doing, and I'm sure they know to deal with the unexpected. Remember that Wright scandal, how Obama just flawlessly destroyed that thing, or even his wife's weird USA comments that one day? Boom! Then for VP, he ripped apart experience criticisms. Obama is in now the "safe choice" which is a strange irony, but I'm sure he knows what to add some juice to that role.

Margaret   September 1st, 2008 11:50 am ET

YAWN...

I guess it's better than having to suffer through Shrub or McCain.

Get Real   September 1st, 2008 11:48 am ET

The funny thing is Gustav gave Bush/McCain the perfect excuse not to have Lil'bush Wack George speak. No one cares about Bush and it will show on McCain

Once again RNC will use women ... Palin, Laura, Cindy and who ever else let's them play them.

eugene   September 1st, 2008 11:47 am ET

WHO CARES ABOUT THE GOP,WHY IS MCCAIN TRYING TO KEEP HIS VP FROM TALKING TO THE MEDIA?THIS WOMAN COULD BE IN CHARGE OF 300 MILLION PEOPLE,I WANTS TO HEAR HER VIEWS ON THE ECONOMY AND NATIONAL SECURITY,IT SEEMS TO ME THE MCCAIN CAMP DONT WANT HER GIVING INTERVIEWS,THIS IS VERY SCAREY BECAUSE THIS WOMAN COULD BE PRESIDENT NEXT YEAR BECAUSE OF MCCAINS AGE,SO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEEDS TO HEAR HER OUT

DeeJam - Los Angeles   September 1st, 2008 11:46 am ET

I don't want to seem cynical with such a great effort to help. My only thought on all of this is that I think the McCain campaign is somewhat relieved that they don't have to compete with the DNC's convention. This potential disaster gave them their out. Nonetheless, good job RNC. I would have hated to see you all attempting to party when a big part of our country is suffering. You did well.

common sense   September 1st, 2008 11:44 am ET

What a great First Lady Laura Bush has been. Let's hope that the next first lady is as eloquent as she was.

Kris   September 1st, 2008 11:43 am ET

Good Job Ms. Bush & Ms. McCain!!!!
The obama gang's comments about the RNC convention – and our current first lady are a Disgrage to your guy!

What exactly will the DNC and obama/FRAUD do about helping people in need – oh – call up his e-mail list – that will really help!
