Crowley: Where was this Fred Thompson last year?

Fred Thompson, the actor and former presidential contender, is now performing the way people expected he would when he ran for president last year: relaxed, eloquent, and good pacing.

Definitely not the Fred Thompson that showed up on the campaign trail last fall - His heart seems more into this ode to John McCain than any speech he ever gave running for president.

People keep talking about Palin's exectutive experience. She governed the 3rd from last smallest state for 1.5 years while Obama was running a National campaign for the same amount of time. Obama was well received by foreign leaders all over the world while Palin has never met with any other country's leader. Obama was a United States Constitutional professor, does Palin even know the Constitution?
Obama is a Harvard graduate and first black person to be president of the Harvard Law Review (leadership). Palin graduated from a small college with a degree in journalism and worked as a sports reporter. Obama worked as a community organizer right out of college and helped organize much needed help for the less needy. Palin owned a small fishing store in Alaska. On and on and on.

Obama has excellent experience, was President of Harvard Law Review, chose to be a community organizer over going to Wall Street, and was a Constitutional professor before he ever even ran for state senate. God knows this country needs someone who understands the constitution. The experience argument against Obama is getting very old. He has tons of experience, just not in Washington. He definately has more relevant experience than Palin.

I know, he is really fired up. Wonder what would have happened had he performed this way?

What's up with all of the cowboy hats. Are all the big oil guys from Texas at this convention or what? Maybe they have some time of there hands since they had to shut down operations for a couple of days.

Just what we need, more big oil cowboys to run this country again for 4 more years.

Oh common..he wasn't that good. He said nothing essential on the top issues which would fit togehter with the reality in the US..

Hey Candy – he's a good actor – he can memorize Rove's talking points. Am I the only one in the US that sees thru this hoopla? Karl Rove and Rush Limbaugh play this country like a fine guitar. Just look at PA, KY, WV, TX

  10. Common Sense

Fred Thompson personifies why we need to invest more in public education. He clearly could benefit from a third grade education...what a disgrace!!!!

  15. No Hillary = No Obama

He wasn't motivated to be President and it was so obvious – on the other hand we have Obama who can't hide his arrogance and ambition – which is also so obvious. Arrogance and ambition does not a President make. At least McCan has that humility that Obama claimed he has – yeah right.

    This is all so misleading.
Ask teachers about No Child Left Behind.
Ask Iraqi citizens how the war is going.
Ask nurses about today's health care.
I only hope, and need to believe, that people will see through this.

Why did he not speak of McCain's first wife, but he did speak of a hooker from Florida?

Fred Thompson didn't really want to be nominated. Soon after he got into the race he was clearly going through the motions without enthusiasm. Rather like Giuliani, who also appeared to think better of the whole idea once he got on the road.

    Let us face it:

When does life really begin? If your answer is AT the Time of Conception, then I will conclude that:

Jusus Christ had no LIFE before he was born as a man. Obama's answer, "I really do not know, is more humbling than what these idiots are preaching

  23. a real Pennsylanian

As far as I could observe the RNC crowd does not even reflect the diversity of AMERICA! Nothing against the elderly, it appeared to be a AARP convention. Thompson said nothing but a bunch of rhetoric... This country can not continue to exclude the core of americans ... Voting for Mcain takes us back....way back... Palin has two many family problems. Five kids....??? I can see why she needs a pay raise.
