ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) – Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will have a speaking role at the Republican National Convention, a GOP official tells CNN.

Giuliani was scheduled to deliver the keynote address Tuesday, but Hurricane Gustav forced Republicans to alter the program. Giuliani will speak later in the week.

Maybe Rudy will decide to skip his speech like he skipped out on so many of the early primaries.

He has to go down in history as a man who fell from grace. Right up there with John Edwards.

Riiiiight. Palin has more executive experience than Obama and Biden because she's been Governor of Alaska for 20 months.

By that logic, doesn't she have more executive experience than McCain?

Palin/McCain '08 LOL!!

Deb, Allentown, PA   September 2nd, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Charlotte, get over it. Obama made the right choice with Biden. If you think that Hillary will not have a position of importance in an Obama administration, you're sadly mistaken. What do you think she'll get from McCain. Nothing but disdain for Hillarycare. When McCain chose Palin, he truly thumbed his nose at Hillary supporters. He basically said, "well, women are interchangeable, so if the Hillary supporters wanted a woman, we'll give them this one."

Obama/Biden will take back the White House. A Hillary Clinton supporter and proud Democrat. Democrats will win!!!!!!!!!!

Who cares?

The GOP is without a voice on moral issues. The GOP base needs to step up and call a spade a spade. Now, I read Palin daughter is pregnant at 17 yrs of ages. What happened to the party of family issues? You get married first and then have kids. Ouch, I forgot, Palin doesn't feel these things should be taugh in school or home. I also read that she's engaged. Please somebody, talk to this girl. Two wrongs doesn't make a right. Palin needs to step-up and pull her name for VP and attend her family needs.

Guiliani is a Loser.

Thank God General Palin has been leading the Alaska National Guard for the past 20 months. Why during that time period, not a single Russian invader has dared cross the Bering Sea to take over our oil wells and Polar Bears in Alaska.

General Palin is a member of the separatist Alaskan Independence Party. That means she has plenty of foreign experience; she’s been running a foreign government at the national level the last 2 years.

Did anyone see Rudy on Fact the Nation this past sunday. When
asked about Governor Palin's experience to run this country over
Senator Obama he just laughed and laughed. Senator Palin has
more administrative experience than Senator Obama and Biden combined he said. Oh by the way Rudy she has more executive experience than Senator McCain.

Experience, experience. Look how experience showed in how you ran your campaign. Now Senator Obama – with little or no experience – ran a terrific campaign. So keep laughing Rudy, your campaign was
a joke.

The guy went to get a photo op at a shelter....whooooooooooo By doing so, he used resources that should have been deployed else where. Do you think they really needed the extra work involved in coordinating with Secret Service, and police??? Yikes!

Steve   September 2nd, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Guliani did a great job in a very dark time for New York and the country.
That was 7 years ago, and yet, he still keeps talking about it like it was yesterday. Let's move on, Rudy.

As far as Palin goes, I now see into the hearts and minds of the conservative right. It's OK if you pressure a state organization to fire someone who you think did something wrong to your family. It's OK if your daughter is having a baby out of wedlock. It's OK if your experience consists of being the mayor of a town of 6500, and a state that has a smaller population than most medium-sized cities in other parts of the world. As long as you keep spewing self-congratulatory nonsense about "right to life" and "hooray for the oil companies" you're a great candidate. What utter nonsense.

If McCain wins, at least we'll have high entertainment value, as he and Palin try to explain away the indictments.

I would be willing to bet that Palin withdraws in the next week or so. She's trouble.

CNN) – In a unanimous decision Thursday, the Federal Election Commission granted a request from John McCain’s campaign to withdraw from a program that provides presidential candidates with matching funds during the primary season.

The Democratic National Committee filed a complaint with the FEC earlier this year after the McCain campaign announced that it was withdrawing from the primary season matching funds program, in a bid to avoid spending restrictions that would have resulted if they participated. Democrats argued that the McCain camp could not legally opt out after obtaining a $4 million line of credit using the prospect of the public matching funds as collateral, and could not unilaterally withdraw without approval from the FEC, which did not have a voting quorum for much of the year. The party also called for an FEC investigation of McCain’s campaign finances.

The McCain campaign had said that the possibility of receiving public matching funds was not in reality the collateral for the line of credit that kept the Arizona senator’s campaign afloat.

The DNC has not yet said whether they will continue to press for a federal investigation.

Another reason I'm not watching. Just look at those schmucks in the picture.

And Molly, if you think this special needs baby does not need his mommy then you think again. I have a family member with a downs baby.....she is unmarried and HAS to work. She would give the world to be able to stay home and take care of this baby because he needs her more than you can know but she does not have that choice. She has to leave her child...she does not choose to leave her child. I know it is not the 70's but babies now have the same needs that they did in the 70's. The needs are just ususally met by someone besides mommy. And btw, Obama has said the pregnant girl is off limits. Seems like you must think shes fair game because you sure don't mind talking about her.

Palin disclosures raise questions about vetting

Alaskans say no one from McCain camp asked them about eventual VP pick

ST. PAUL – A series of disclosures about Gov. Sarah Palin, Senator John McCain’s choice as running mate, called into question on Monday how thoroughly Mr. McCain had examined her background before putting her on the Republican presidential ticket.

On Monday morning, Ms. Palin and her husband, Todd, issued a statement saying that their 17-year-old unmarried daughter, Bristol, was five months pregnant and that she intended to marry the father.

Among other less attention-grabbing news of the day: it was learned that Ms. Palin now has a private lawyer in a legislative ethics investigation in Alaska into whether she abused her power in dismissing the state’s public safety commissioner; that she was a member for two years in the 1990s of the Alaska Independence Party, which has at times sought a vote on whether the state should secede; and that Mr. Palin was arrested 22 years ago on a drunken-driving charge.

Look at what you are writing hear and read the writing on the wall. It is the uber left and the uber right that are ruining this country. You have to a left wing freak to get the democratic nomination and a right wing freak to get the republican nomination. Anyone with ideas that might seem sensible hasn't got a chance in either party.

Neither side/party truely cares what happens as long as long as THEY win and THEY have the power to do what they want, whether it is good for the country or not.

What happens when McCain gets yet another skin cancer growth and has to leave our government in charge of a creationist yahoo who doesn't believe in global warming, but believes that rape and incest victims should be forced to give birth.

Note to Songbird, by "change", the American public was hoping for change forward, not change back to the pre-enlightenment period.

And how to you Repuglicans justify the death penalty and your "pro-life" stances? When you are a glob of cells and goo, you're a person worthy of life, but not when you're fully developed? And how do you justify a smaller government but demand that it steps in and makes a woman choose a detrimental life decision against her own will?

You're all such hypocrites.

And with an 18% approval rating (lowest in history and lower than Bush) I do not see the Congress of Pelosi and reid doing anything that they promised. Obama Facts-

Was a US Senator of ONE year before he decided to run for President. Since then he has done nothing as a US Senator.

So, in effect, we are electing a State Senator to the highest office in our land. I don't know about you, but, I know some DUMB, useless state reps.

And just a reminder, Palin isn't running for Pres, she is the VP. If the Obama/Biden card were reversed, THEN it would be the same.

Obama has NO experience. And many scandals. He may have shown good judgement speaking out (notice I didn't say voting) against the war in Iraq. But he has shown poor judgement:

-Against the surge
-Buying a home at a discount from a felon
-Getting involved with Ayers
-Participating in a church(for 20 years) that is ANTI WHITE/ ANTI UNITED STATES

Have fun voting this year people. As I see it, it is the lesser of two evils. Who that is, I have not a clue.

UPDATED REPUBLICAN VALUES V1.01   September 2nd, 2008 12:08 pm ET

Republican Family Values V1.01 vs. Democratic Family Values V1.00

The RNC platform appears to require a rather abrupt update to the Far Right and Conservative family values plank.

Democratic Family Values V1.00

My oldest niece completed high school, earned a college degree, married and is currently expecting her first “blessing” in November and my brother and his wife are thrilled and looking forward to being Grandparents and are very “proud” of this accomplished young woman. They have promised to be “supportive” as long as the required duties are occasional baby-setting!

Updated Version Republican Family Values V1.01

This updated version was sanctioned by all the Republican Party leaders and the Far Right and the Conservatives effective September 1, 2008.

All parents are encouraged to teach “abstinence only” as birth control and never teach kids sex education in public schools. Then, when your 16 year old daughter partakes of pre-marital unsafe sex, which could have resulted in her catching a STD, in addition to the expected “blessing” . Advise her to marry the father, whether or not she actually loves him and do this all while both parties are only 17.

Choosing a role model:

Call me old fashioned, but when my other two nieces make such decisions, I hope they use their older sibling as an example, complete with the now outdated Democratic V1.00. Of course, should one or both chose the new Republican version V1.01 I am not sure “proud” would accurately describe my reaction, but I would be both loving and “supportive”. I just would never encourage them to adopt the Republican V1.01, they may miss a lot of the youthful experiences they would encounter using the Dem V1.00.

Robert M. Herbst   September 2nd, 2008 12:04 pm ET

It is great that everyone wishes to be American these days, but let's look at what did happen under a republican administration.

First we had Katrina, did the Bush Administration care then? How much of the response to Gustav can be contributed to the fact that everyone knows the world is watching.

What has happend in last three years in regard to the rebuilding of New Orleans and other gulf coast communities, and what would have happened if the storm was a category 3 or better?

Well, there has been for too little concern by the Bush administration as to the rebuilding of the gulf coast and the dislplacement of citizens. If the strom would have been worst–the situation on the ground would have been far worst.

The fact is, that the problems of New Orleans have not be solved, and most likely will notbe solved with republicans in the White House. They simply do not care to invest in the common peoples of our land.

How does a country care for its citizens and the state of the infrastructure without tax dollars? Who among us can afford to pay higher taxes for the sake of the United States of America.

I think since he was moved to a later date, I am guessing that Sarah Palin would decline VP in the next 24 hours and McCain would nominate Rudy G as the VP

Any takers on this view

I have never seen the Obama supporters SO angry and upset... McCain must have picked the right choice for VP.

Obama supporters are not only scared but showing it.

McCain/Palin are a much better/SAFER choice for America.
Obama is NOT qualified – he is an Arrogant, Radical FRAUD – and will never be elected.

For anyone in a small town like Palins alaska town of 6000 people.. How much money did your town recieve in earmarks from the goverment???? Any at all???

She got over 26 million dollars in earmarks while she was the mayor of Wasilla.. A town of 6000 people.. that a little over 4000 dollars a person !!!

Sounds like she knows the good ole boy network pretty good to me..

OH and she hired a lobbying firm to do it..
So much for reform...

And she has over 200 million in works for for earmarks for alaska one of richest states there is with all money coming in from big oil.

Might have turned down the bridge but not turning down millions more...

MLH   September 2nd, 2008 11:56 am ET

Wow, what's left to say. Except that while John McCain is busy questioning Senator Obama's judgment, many of us are shaking our heads and questioning HIS. The VP spot is not a part time slot that a parent with a special needs infant and four other children can handle. You just can't do it all, and do it all well enough. Most of us working moms know that.

carolflowery   September 2nd, 2008 11:50 am ET

I will watch every bit as I did the dem's convention, I unlike many of you, have to hear from both sides to really know why and who im voting for. By the way, for all of you who have a problem with Sarah Palin's daughter, dig this.

The United States has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the industrialized world. The Center for Disease control says that one-third of girls get pregnant before the age of 20. Teenpregnancy.org, a site managed by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, states that there are "750,000 teen pregnancies annually. Eight in ten of these pregnancies are unintended and 81 percent are to unmarried teens."

Educating teenagers about contraception makes them more likely to use contraception when they begin having sex, but it doesn't lower the age at first intercourse. Why? Probably because the decision where and with whom to become sexually active is a very complicated one, and may be rooted in family, peers, religion, the media and individual personality factors.

jeanette   September 2nd, 2008 11:48 am ET

Rudy lost all his credibility when he tried using 911 as his way to get nominated, and then started being an attack dog for JOhn McCain when his nomination failed.
Count the times he uses 911 in his speech (I won't be watching).
His basic speech is a noun a verb and 911.

All the republicans have is the war in Iraq, pro;ife and oil drilling – nothing else. Just listen to their speeches and you'll see.

The main stream media best start revealing these people for what they are and what they stand for. Our country is at stake and shouldn't be handed over to McCain and Palin.

MikeH   September 2nd, 2008 11:48 am ET

I had a post accepted by the moderator on the Biden insult Ticker item, and now it's gone.

I have other posts on other ticker articles that are stuck in "awaiting moderation" limbo

CNN has Republican operatives infesting their panel of moderators. If CNN wants to be an official mouthpiece for the corrupt Republican party, then I understand the censorship, but if CNN wants to really retain the image of being somewhat unbiased, then it needs to clean house.

They surely can't talk much about the last 8 years....well they could I quess, the republicans are good at spinning. Ha I like to see their heads spin right off their shoulders.

JFK Dem @ 35   September 2nd, 2008 11:45 am ET

Ummm, I guess nobody goes for originality on these boards as I have seen several attacks on what Rudy may say. If he talks about 9/11, so be it - it was a dark day in history & the man had to react & act fast. Did he do everything right? No. Can we change this? No. Do we owe me he respect? Yes. Afterall, how many of us would even know where to begin on that day?! Exactly. Same with McCain & his POW status - it made him who he is, gave him perspective, & he deserves RESPECT for not only enduring it, but for being able to persevere on behalf of others as a public servant.

Palin does have more "executive" experience than any candidate (McCain, Obama, & Biden) - Political Science 101. The men have more legislative experience to be sure, but the office of President is in the executive branch, so some executive experience should be appreciated. So, her child made a bad decision - that's all we have been hearing from the media & liberal supporters. People make mistakes - Obama did with drugs such as cocaine, does it make him an awful person? No. He obviously learned from his mistakes & moved on.

I am tired of the childish supporters & I am glad that none of you are running. Just know that you really sully your candidate & make them unattractive when you use personal attacks to smear the opponent. Some people only get what they know from such comments - hence, a loss of votes.

57yo/w/w/ republican school teacher for Obama   September 2nd, 2008 11:44 am ET

I am ashamed that we can not proudly walk our President out to the rest of the country and tell them that we are gonna continue politics as usual but the reality is that we have messed up so bad that we can no longer stand on the republican message and say for sure that it is the right policies for the Nation. I am ready to give the dems a chance because I am getting older and we do not have the time to get this one wrong again. Besides we are all American's and Obama and the dems have great ideas and they had great vision on this war we should have never gotten into. And I know this war was wrong because Bush won't even come to the convention because McBush does not want to show how close they are. Want an example of how close they are, just look at the stupid decisions they make and the dumb things they say. Go Obama! Go America!

Nate St. Paul   September 2nd, 2008 11:43 am ET

A lot of people are saying McCain picke Palin because he's a maverick. He did it for the opposite reason. He's taylored his message and his policies to the far right since he started this campaign. This is more catering to the right of the republican party. She's a right winger and that's what McCain is trying to portray. It's nice that she's a woman- but if she was a man would McCain have picked her. I doubt it- so what are his intentions?? His motive is that he wants to appeal politically to as many people as he can so he can win. That's fine, but being 72 years old and having survived 4 bouts with cancer shouldn't he pick someone who's ready to govern?? Palin is a great person, I disagree with her policies but I have no problem with her as a person. However, it's ridiculous to think that she's qualified. She was the mayor of a town of 8000 people, and governor for less than two years of a state with less people than South Dakota. She's got a bachelor's degree in communications, oh and she played on the state championship basketball team and was almost Ms. Alaska. There are literally dozens more qualified conservative leaders in the US- both men and women. This is such a reach. When the excitement wears off peopel will wake up and realized the folly of this pick. This pick makes Obama and Biden the safe bet in the election.

Ex-Republicans for Obama   September 2nd, 2008 11:43 am ET

Wow!! An adulterer supporting and adulterer!!!! He has about as much clout as Karl Rove!!! John McCain is destroying our party with his irresponsible actions. He did a poor job of vetting Palin, an unknown with only two months till the general election!!! He has lost our vote.

Gayle   September 2nd, 2008 11:43 am ET

I'm an Obama supporter, but I have to say this. Hillary supporters were not just voting for Hillary because she was a woman. So to see McCain pick a woman to gain Hillary supporters is moronic. He has made a poor choice, which makes me happy. America can see what type of impulsive, rash, sexist president he would be. He underestimated women, and the American people.

Kick John and his campaign to the curb. Vote for Barack Obama.

I sure Rudy Giuliani will blast the Democrats on national security and invoke the memory of 9/11 many times during his speech at the convention. But in doing so, I hope Mr. Giuliani remembers not all those that lost their lives on September 11th or battling terror in Iraq or Afghanistan were Republican.

Show Giuliani, McCain, Palin and all the other republicans and independents who support McCain and Ms. "ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERICEN IN FOREIGN POLICY" that the American voter is a lot more intelligent than they give us credit for.

Think of your families, yourselves, the country when deciding in November for whom to send tothe White House.

Should they be elected and something happen to McCain, being a second-runner up in a ebauty pageant, a hockey mom, a hunter, fisher, etc., does NOT qualify her for the possible highest position in the country.

Mavericks are risky,

I'm going to disagree with you a bit. It's not about whether her children will keep her from doing a good job. No one would think of asking that if it were a man.

My problem with the situation is what kind of judgement she made in choosing to expose her daughter to all the scrutiny of the press. I mean here you have a 17 yr old girl that is going to have a baby and get married. That's hard enough. I'm guesses statistically speaking she's already at a disadvantage. But to be exposed to the press and have every detail of your life suddenly under a microscope? I don't see how in the world that could help her. Look at all these young girls like Britney Spears who are under constant scrutiny and are followed everywhere. Heck, I'd be crazy too if someone followed me around trying to take pictures all day. .

That's the kind of life this young girl is likely to face. Palin had to have known when she accepted the nomination that her daughter would have to endure that.

So for me it's not about can she do the job having children. It's why would she not put her daughters needs before her career?

911 is something that will surly be talked about. This was a tragic event and many American have forgot what happened. It shoud not be dragged into the ground though. Stay on the topics that is the Governments main goal. Either Rep or Dems. To protect and serve Americans PERIOD. To keep this country soverign. We are second to none and are losing this concept. People are sitting back and letting other people and countries dictating what we are about. Nothing, nothing will hurt thie country more than that. We are number one and will NOT be defeted anywhere anytime. Leave family situations out of this campaing. Both Dem and Rep. Sen Obama has make it plain to stop the family stuff. ALso so has McCain. Leave it out. Stick to the issues to continue serving and protecting the Americans citizens.

Remember folks, sticks and stones... Each party is calling each other so many different things. The Dems do it also. If the two parties would concentrate on the issues and what they will be bringing to this country, Instead of acting like 2 year olds. Whining, stomping their feet, raising their arms, lying down going in circles until they get their way. Just o silly. Everyone stop it and act civil to keep this country soverign. Get to the basics. Victory in Iraq, not to demean our military, oppose appeament and efforts to negotiate with dictators, support tax cuts, eleimate all earmarks, balance the budget, build new refineries, using nuclear facilities, expand coal mining, watching the envionment, SECURE OUR BORDERS, support agents at the border, free-markets solutions facing healthcare, fight for individual health saving accounts, , fight for choise with education and let parents decide, save social security anbd medicare from bankruptcy. , and to remember their primary goal land job is to protect and serve Legal Americans. Leave the sticks and stones at home. Doing all this will keep them too busy to look to avenues leading nowhere.

Mavericks are risky   September 2nd, 2008 11:18 am ET

The job of Vice President is a job that requires 200% of a person.

I am a woman and I have to say that I am VERY uncomfortable with the idea of anyone with a newborn, a pregnant teen, and two other children, taking on a LIFE OR DEATH responsibility for an entire nation- especially in a time of war. Especially when that person has very little experience to begin with.

Yes! We women are great multi-taskers and can do it all for the most part. My own mom raised three kids and put us all through college by herself, while maintaining a family business.
Women can be lawyers, medical professionals, anything we want to be; but there is also wisdom in knowing when you've bit off more than you can chew, and making clear decisions critical to the welfare of others.

It is WAY TO RISKY to be using Sarah Palin as an experiment to the argument that a person (man or female) can run the country while raising a newborn child and pregnant teen.

Her daughters pregnancy IS EXTREMELY RELEVANT because now more than ever, her daughter will need her mother, and some of us have loved ones in Iraq. When it comes to security, this is our business.

The Vice President's job is not a part time job, nor is it on smaller scale like the job of mayor of Wasilla or Gov. of Alaska for 17 months. She hasn't been in office long enough for things to fall apart.

Many things can happen when a person is overwhelmed at their workplace: family and children can be neglected, or their work is neglected. Her daughter is pregnant- how could this be a reflection of Sarah Palin's own overwhelmed life? Teen pregnancy happens a lot in America- but let's also ask ourselves why it happens and I guarantee that the own-ness in not on teens alone.

I wish the family well and support Palin at a difficult time in her family's development, but that does not mean I will vote for her or think that she is capable. This job means way too much to risk.

Sorry McCain. You picked the wrong woman.

Cindy   September 2nd, 2008 11:18 am ET

Based on the Ticker snippets I've been reading lately, I expect a bunch of off the wall statements, that make no sense. Guliani uses 9/11 like McCain uses his POW years.

However, he is a better "speaker" than McCain is. I'll give him that much....

J from DC   September 2nd, 2008 11:17 am ET

Who Cares: McCain has removed the diapers off the Republican Party, exposing their astronomical incompetency, not to mention their hypocrisy on conservative family values. 4 more years of this???

Not So Delusional   September 2nd, 2008 11:17 am ET

I don't understand the whole Giuliani thing. If it wasn't for 9-11, Guiliani would still be nothing more than a below average politician caught up in scandal after scandal.

CNN, you're so silly. You gave rise to this idiot Giuliani just like you did with your no-talent "anchor" Miles O'Brien during the shuttle disaster. Talk about a joke. You guys sure do know how to attempt to make someone relevant when they shouldn't be.

James   September 2nd, 2008 11:16 am ET

Giuliani is a joke.

Noun, verb, 9/11

His campaign strategy for the presidency shows just how unintelligent he is and also the people he surrounds himself with for advice and guidence.

He is a looser who's name has allowed him to have a public stage to be a hatchet man for McCain and lie and distort facts.

EBC   September 2nd, 2008 11:15 am ET

Gulliani needs to go home to his mistress-wife and shut the hell up. NO ONE cares about what he has to say politically. This guy is just another Karl Rowe "wanna-be". NO ONE voted for him for President, gee I wonder why....

Actions SPEAK louder than words folks... the GOP is here waving their banner stating "WE'RE PROUD TO SUPPORT TEENAGE PREGNANCY" across this country!! It's truly gives new meaning to the word "Evangelicals" who live by the Bible on an strict "as-needed political basis".

You have John Libber-mouth praising John McCain's pick as a "fresh" choice. FACT: Sen. John McCain did NOT even consider Gov. Palin until 4-5 days before he picked her. John McCain wanted to pick Joe Lieberman, the conservatives said HELL NO!! So John McCain just went behind their backs!! Nice huh?

Yeah.... but can you honestly TELL us if Gov. Palin's daughter would have CHOSEN to be "politically" forced to get married at age 17 OR to have a baby or NOT, if her mother was NOT in the political arena? How much of this whole mess is politically corherced on her daughter Bristol? It seems to me like, Gov. Palin is making ALL the decisions for her daughter Bristol to gain political sympathy.

I don't know about anyone else, but I would NEVER be waving an "I AM PROUD MY 17 YEAR OLD MINOR DAUGHTER IS PREGNANT AND BEING FORCED TO GET MARRIED". Bottom line.

John McCain played the American voters as fools in his thinking that we view this pregnancy as a "positive" message to all minor girls in this country by GLAMORIZING it.

Many GOP Conservatives and Evangelicals, are lying through their teeths if they think this is a "positive" message to this country. This whole nonsense that every family makes "mistakes" is just silly. If this were MY family or YOURS, the GOP would be crucifying us big time!!!

If this were Sen. Obama's daughter or Chelsea, they would have been RAKED OVER THE COALS by John McCain's and his GOP Conservatives "attack dogs" in a heartbeat. Just take Karl Rowe for example.

Poor Rudy... just craving for any level of "spotlight" since NO ONE cares what he does or says anymore.

Helen   September 2nd, 2008 11:14 am ET

Who cares???

Tony   September 2nd, 2008 11:14 am ET

If McCain is elected in November, and should something happen to him while in office, we can all take comfort that we have a second-runner up beauty queen as our president before we get nuked off the planet.

Natasha   September 2nd, 2008 11:12 am ET

How does this help John McCain? LOL.......this is going to be a good laugh.

Tony   September 2nd, 2008 11:12 am ET

McCain has no more credibility on the judgment issue than he now has on the experience issue.

Keep digging that hole Johnny Boy!

I am still amazed as is everyone you speak to about Palin, now her daughter is pregnant !! she was pregnant while her Mom was pregnant. tell Mom to take care of her kids and leave the country running to some one who has a functional brain!!! Thank God for Obama!!!!

OBAMA......08

Obama-Junkie, IL   September 2nd, 2008 11:01 am ET

The GOP Convention is trying to line-up as many pro McCain/Palin speakers as it can. Giuliani will try make a case for McCain/Palin based on experience because Palin has more "executive experience" than Obama/Biden.

This will fail. As more and more Republican pundits are interviewed, none of them answer in the "affirmative" that Palin is the best Republican choice for VP, especially as more of her political and personal history are revealed to the public.

Michael "C" Lorton, Virginia   September 2nd, 2008 11:01 am ET

Republicans would best serve their interest by putting a muzzle on Rudy and buying him a plane ticket back to New York.

I just can't stand Giuliani. There's a huge difference between being a Mayor and knowing how to be President. Please go away...

Steve, New York, New York   September 2nd, 2008 10:57 am ET

Take it from a NATIVE NEW YORKER – with the exception of his (so-called) heroics on 9/11, this guy is nothing but a bully and a loser. His own children don't seem to like him very much . . .why should we?

However, he would have made a better VP pick than Palin (I really don't understand that decision – though I'll give it to her – she is quite beautiful)!

Ian from BROOKLYN, NY   September 2nd, 2008 10:56 am ET

Ontaya   September 2nd, 2008 10:53 am ET

This guy is so pathetic. Every time I hear him speak I cringe what a bum!

Dems, stay vigilant so that the election is not stolen like they did against Al Gore. I am suspecting that they may want to do a Mugabe style this fall.

Dale, Kentucky   September 2nd, 2008 10:51 am ET

Why does this guy even matter?
Giuliani is a Mayor, not a leader of a nation!
It shows how much the Republicans are relying on the "Fear Factor" to try and win this election.

Good. We love Rudy's character and he will make a great speech (unlike all the very boring Dem speeches we heard last week).

And we Republicans all LOVE sarah Palin and are so excited about this election now. You OB supporters are all so childish trying to paint Sarah in a negative light, but it is never going to work. She's awesome and has added something huge to the McCain campaign and the republican party.

But my fellow Americans, I want to tell you that 9/11 could have been much worse if I was not there. I managed the whole 9/11 so very good. I am the 9/11 man. Please clap. Did I get it right?

This is not a hate post! I have nothing bad to say about Giuliani, but I do wonder how he became so important in the eyes of the republicans. He put on a hard hat and visited the ruins of the twin towers where so many Americans died. He was the mayor of New York! What did he do that no other mayor would not have done?

Brendan H., San Antonio, TX   September 2nd, 2008 10:44 am ET

The Democrats will own the Whitehouse for 24 years because of what George W. Bush has done to this country, and how he polarized it with his belligerent Redneckism.

Tony   September 2nd, 2008 10:20 am ET

Two facts that prove Palin and McCain are not right for the country are:

1) The Evangelicals are crazy about her adn think she would make a great VP, and:

2) BUSH thinks it's agood idea.

That last one should terrify everyone and get them voting for Obama.

Two loosers supporting each other. The only winner was Bush but instead the nation has lost.

themanwhosawtomorrow   September 2nd, 2008 10:10 am ET

What does he know to say? It would be the most boring speech ever, as he is all about a noun, a verb and 9/11.

John   September 2nd, 2008 10:10 am ET

Wonder if they'll get Ron Paul to speak.

Oh yeah, that's right, he's been barred from the RNC convention because, despite having a lot of Republicans vote for him, he doesn't go along with the RNC groupthink. He's had to hold a shadow convention with 10,000 attendees that the media will be trying very hard to ignore.

I never cared for Rudy, but thanks to Obamas' arrogance, I'm beginning to take a second look. My plan was to write in Hillary, Sarah has given me cause to rethink that decision. Not because she is a woman, but rather because Obama chose to ignore half the democrats in this election. 18 million/17 million, whatever, votes he could care less about. I am a Hillary supporter who thinks he made a big mistake in an election year that should have been a landslide for the democrats, allowing it to become a back and forth tie. I guess Michelles' comment about having to think about her vote, if Hillary became the nominee, is a major reason for me to think about my vote also.

MARINE4O'BIDEN   September 2nd, 2008 10:06 am ET

CNN Just like to block us from posting huh. Yes we are critical of the GOP so get use to it. They preach all this christian stuff but they are a bunch of adulterers, Giuliani and McCain, the religious zealots like Dobson are the same creatures who was in bed with the Romans during the time of Christ. Same people, different times, however CHANGE is on the WAY!

OBAMA-BIDEN 08

2008Elections   September 2nd, 2008 10:05 am ET

does anyone know if Mitt Romney will still be speaking on Day 3?

Florence S.   September 2nd, 2008 10:04 am ET

As a former Republican and current values voters can he explain what has happened to the GOP?

Isn't he a pro-abortion, pro-gay sex, adulterer whose own children won't talk to him for the way he treated his ex-wife? This is the GOP KEY NOTE SPEAKER?

How have we ended up nominating McCain, an admitted serial adulterer, liar, and scandle hound?

And now he picks this jezebel VP who is too busy telling everyone not to have abortions she fails to tell her unmarried 16 year old child "DON'T HAVE SEX"???

And i support, FULLY SUPPORT, Palin's decision to keep her child with Down. This is CLEARLY the right thing to do. My question is....is she never intended to have an abortion under any circumstances, then why did she get the Down's testing to begin with?????? She is a liar!!!!

Joshua   September 2nd, 2008 10:04 am ET

Giuliani is another Bush butt-kisser, just like McCain. Giuliani and McCain are a pair of one trick ponies. If it hadn't been for 9/11, nobody would have any idea who Giuliani was. And McCain was a POW, because he got his jet shot down – that's his big claim to fame.

Neither one can talk about issues and both have been staunch supporters of the worst president in all of US history.

Noun, verb 911...

Stupid Republicans will love it.

One loser for another

Candy West Virginia   September 2nd, 2008 10:03 am ET

I will be watching paint dry. On another note:
Repuglicans say they are the moral majority yet every time you hear a story about teen pregnancy cover-ups, married men having gay encounters in bathrooms or coke snorting politicians, it is a repuglican involved.
Repuglicans say they are staunchly patriotic yet ship our jobs overseas.
Repuglicans say they are pro life yet put Americans in harms way in a war started with lies.
Repuglicans say they care about the environment yet oppose laws to protect the envirnment.
Repuglicans say their candidate has experience yet he has shown horrible judgment throughout this campaign.
Repuglicans say they want peace yet their candidate says he would rather win a war then a campaign.

Scott NYC Independent   September 2nd, 2008 10:01 am ET

As a New Yorker I never understood the fame Giuliani received from 9/11. The fact of the matter is that every Mayor that this city has had would have been just as capable as he was if not more so. New York is a tough town and we don't take to light weight and incompetent candidates well. That said, Giuliani was not a great Mayor and many of us believed him to be heavy handed and suffering from tunnel vision during most of his two terms here. We have term limits, which we as a city voted into effect. Giuliani attempted to over rule the voters of New York by a back door method. He really wasn't that great people; good but not great. So what is his input on the convention, hope its not about the war on terror – he's a reactionary manager not a preventive one.

Republicans Hate America   September 2nd, 2008 9:59 am ET

It will go something like this:

9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11

The End.
