ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) – Republican National Committee co-chair Jo
Ann Davidson mistakenly referred to the party's presumptive vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, as "Sarah Pawlenty" at the Republican National Convention Tuesday.

Palin, the governor of Alaska, was a surprise choice to join Sen. John McCain on the Republican ticket. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty had been considered one of the front-runners for the slot.

This just adds to the comedy of errors by the republicans, but they want to run this country….yeah right! For the republicans to be so hard on Obama, He continues to contact himself in a presidental manner. Mybe the RNC should call this what it really is a circus

Erica   September 2nd, 2008 8:45 pm ET

If McCain wins, this is what we will have to deal with for another 4 yrs, wake up Americ we can't afford it. 8 is enough! McCain=Bush

Dumb Republicans   September 2nd, 2008 8:45 pm ET

Badly-run convention . . . poorly-vetted VP nominee . . . record budget deficits . . . unwinnable wars . . . officials caught soliciting fellatio in rest rooms while proclaiming "family values" . . . the GOP is a bunch of clowns.

Paris   September 2nd, 2008 8:45 pm ET

CNN why is this news worthy?

What is this?   September 2nd, 2008 8:45 pm ET

Given the RNC co-chair a break, we all didn't even know she existed as of 4 days ago…..

O/B 08

Matt   September 2nd, 2008 8:45 pm ET

Wow that is funny!! Sounds like something McCain would do, but the co-chair doing it too is funny. All the republicans are just a bunch of fools, there are still more gaffs to come.

chris lewis   September 2nd, 2008 8:43 pm ET

maybe its because she is in pawlenty of hot water. Palin will be gone in a week, and then obama will have to deal with a mccain/romney ticket which will be far more challanging.

Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Wait until McCain's wife speaks with her SAKS Fith Avenue 10,000 dollar out fit with the collar turned up like the stepford wives.

The Republican partys theme for the convention should be, THE BIGGEST LOSER.

These people are completly fony and corrupt and embarrasment to my party. I am switching Democratic for the sake of my country.

And they have the nerve to have Bush and Cheney speak.

GROSS

What subliminal messages? I've heard of mis-pronouncing a name, but this really says something. Just maybe the staff really wanted Pawlenty and were overruled?

Stacie, PA   September 2nd, 2008 8:42 pm ET

I agree with Mike, OH this should be a show to watch.

SayWhat?   September 2nd, 2008 8:42 pm ET

Now is not the time, but it will come

You are being used

jimmy   September 2nd, 2008 8:41 pm ET

ON THAT NOTE I WOULD LIKE TO ADD ONE:
A 6 YEAR OLD BOY WAS ASKED TO RECITE THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME AT SCHOOL AND HAD MEMORIZED IT FROM HIS PARENTS TEACHING. HE PLACED HIS RIGHT HAND OVER HIS CHEST AND SAID : I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND TO THE REPUBLICANS FOR WHICH IT STANDS , ONE NATION UNDER GOD , INDIVISIBLE WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. AFTERWARDS THE TEACHER SAID: YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO SAY FOR THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS , TO WHICH THE BOY REPLIED, BUT MY PARENTS TOLD ME WE WERE ALL REPUBLICANS..

McCain is a 72 year old puppet   September 2nd, 2008 8:41 pm ET

The fact that Republican talking heads and McCain supporters are somehow still finding a way to talk positively about this McCain/Palin ticket goes to show you just how desperate and fanatical these people are.

Democrats, Independents, and smart Republicans: STAY ALERT.

These people are obviously willing to do and say anything (like that being the governor of Alaska gives you national security credentials), and we have to be able to match this intensity with an equally spirited commitment to the TRUTH and the FACTS (the fact of the matter is that the Palin pick shows that John McCain has no judgement whatsoever and would put the country at risk for the sake of his campaign).

How can anyone still be undecided with the display that the McCain campaign has put on over the last few days?

This is absurd.

Have some pride in being an American and vote Obama/Biden!

Gotta Be Kidding   September 2nd, 2008 8:41 pm ET

Why is everyone talking about the great speech she gave on the 29th. It was written for her and she read it off of a teleprompter. Her speech tomorrow night is being written for her and she's reading it off of a teleprompter. SHE IS NOT SAYING WHAT SHE THINKS SHE'S ONLY READING WHAT SOMEONE WROTE FOR HER TO SAY. This tells me that she knows how to read – not much else!

sandee in Portland   September 2nd, 2008 8:41 pm ET

Holy Cow! The Republicans can't seem to get anything straight! So much for the Straight Talk Express.

Yinka   September 2nd, 2008 8:41 pm ET

What a shame. It confirms that the RNC are not supportive of this wrong choice and of thelack of judgement of Sen McCain.
(1) A RNC ally of Gov. Palin told CNN this morning "I don't know if she can do it or not, but we would have to wait and see"
(2) Gov. Tim Pawlenty said he read in the paper that Gov. Palin was vetted – you could sence the doubts in his mind regarding the level of vetting that McCain did

This guys can't get anything right.

McCain's Brain   September 2nd, 2008 8:41 pm ET

My theory, Palin will step down citing personal reasons. BUT they knew she would do it all along, they just wanted to say they offered the slot to a chic. Pawlenty will then get the position. Republicans are all about chicanery this time around.

mike d.   September 2nd, 2008 8:40 pm ET

Ha ha ha! Wishful thinking, repubs!

Awesome   September 2nd, 2008 8:40 pm ET

Freudian slip! She had probably just been talking about how S.P.'s going to bail out, and then they'll have to grovel to get Pawlenty to join the ticket.

Hahahahaha!

This GOP ticket is a train wreck. If I were 100% sure they wouldn't be elected, I'd be sitting back and laughing my head off. Unfortunately, I don't trust the Republicans as far as I can kick them, so I won't rest or relax until McCain and Palin have lost.

wannabeobamagirl   September 2nd, 2008 8:36 pm ET

well, in her defense, sarah palin HAS only been around for what, 5 minutes??? half the people in this country don't even know her FIRST name let alone her last!!! hah!

Adrienne   September 2nd, 2008 8:36 pm ET

Prime example of how much she was vetted. This young lady was picked from a hat to presumably pose as the next Hillary Clinton. Unfortunately, Gov. Palin is no Hillary Clinton and quite frankly we do not know who she is. However, what we do know is Gov. Palin is a disasterous choice for the "Grand Old Party" with her own drama and irrelevantness. As Democrats we have to give it to her, she sure does know how to make the headlines. Advice to Gov. Palin open your eyes and look around you. Your party has been exploiting people for years and do not become another one of their exploited, washed up politicians.

Sam Rose   September 2nd, 2008 8:32 pm ET

yea, I was watching and saw that–

guess that Pawlenty was the original choice and was written into her speech–a while back–

and they had to change it up when McCain went wacko on the RNC–and chose Ms Palin-no offense to Ms Palin–

looks like the speech writers only changed the first name—LOL—

Sacto Joe   September 2nd, 2008 8:32 pm ET

I'm more convinced than ever that Senator McCain has blown it with his selection for VP – but not because she's a woman and not because she's inexperienced. He's blown it because he FLIP-FLOPPED by picking someone with so little experience after he vociferously attacked his opponent on the same grounds!

Personally, I don't have a problem with either one's experience. I just have a problem when the guy who wants to head the country will say anything to win.

What?   September 2nd, 2008 8:32 pm ET

Remember, They want us to react so they can use anything to blame our party candidate and supporters. Don't be FOOLED by their hired hands and make any negative comments.

We should now see it's has BEEN their PLAN from the very first blunder.

If there is any negative comments after this article, it's just them pretending to be DEMOCRATS……..WE WILL LET THEM WORD FIGHT AGAINST EACH OTHER…

Danny   September 2nd, 2008 8:31 pm ET

Todd Palin, husband of Sarah, was a member of the secessionist Alaska Independence Party from 1995 through 2002. That's the information we just got from the Alaska Division of elections.

Probably not coincidentally, 2002 was the first time Sarah Palin ran for statewide office in Alaska.
