You’ll probably hear one word from Laura Bush’s speech again and again this convention: Safe. We’ve kept you safe. It’s a major theme of the GOP convention.
What she didn’t talk about are the kind of achievements that two-term president Bill Clinton talked about in 2000, when he walked into the arena and his accomplishments scrolled across the stage: economics, economics, economics. You didn’t hear any of that from her, and probably won’t hear much from anyone else.

What's up with all of the cowboy hats. Are all the big oil guys from Texas at this convention or what? Maybe they have some time of there hands since they had to shut down operations for a couple of days.
The Republican convention is just sad. It is terrible. They are trying to bunch all of those people together to make it look like there are a lot of people there. I have never seen anything like this before.

Kept us safe?! We're closer to being on the brink of WW3 than ever! The world today is in more turmoil than it's been in years... and we've got our noses in every one of these conflicts.
If someone were to attack us today.. we would hardly have a military to defend ourselves right now! And McCain... I can truly see him trying to start a war with Russia.. because that would be good judgment.

Exactly. This convention, and campaign, is ripe with linguistic tricks. I like to hope, and believe, that the American public is intelligent enough to see through McCain's tactics. Obama is not perfect either, but the choice is clear. We must vote for change or we have no right to feel sorry for ourselves when we don't get it.
I lost my house and my job, can't afford gas or much food. He kept me safe from terrorist though I must admit.
But what about the current American people with no jobs and their kids are hungry?
We won't hear about that either, I guess.

Yeah because in the so called process of keeping us safe, they have bankrupt US. America is becoming a third world country. We are robbing Peter to pay Paul. We are paying nearly $5 for gas, we have the highest unemployment rate in history and the foreclosure rate is unprecedented. So thanks, First Lady. Thanks for keeping us safe!?

I felt that her speech was dry and unenthusiastic. I also felt it was a farse that he was not there yet his wife, mother, and father were there. Look around the convention hall, people are yawning and look bored. Lots of times people aren't even clapping. Compare to the DNC when it was wild almost the whole time lots of talking and excitement always when the camera panned the crowds. The convention hall doesn't even look full. No excitement there. Dry, old, more of the same. Where is Cindy McCain's hot pink cast she only had on for two days just in time to take the limelight off the pregnant daughter of Palin; its miraculously gone now.
Fred Thompson just told us she can field dress a moose. Well thank God. Lets vote her in right now. I've always known we've been missing that one quality in the leaders of our country. Field dressing a moose. I feel better and safer already.
People are being murdered and starving, and she talks about mosquito nets,,,which by the way the Bush administration had nothing to do with,,,,I feel sorry for her, having to stand up there for such a sorry excuse for an American president,,,,Our schools are underfunded and our children are uninspired,,,,,,NO NO NO NO NO Mccain

Putzing around in two never ending extremest building wars has made us safe? Will anyone call this out? Please?
