Don't you remember the purpose of questioning?   September 2nd, 2008 9:27 pm ET

To Mike and others.

Your job is to question your government. DUH. Government is the problem; not the solution.

You just cannot see it.

I applaud Palin, and I would applaud any state to secede from the Union if they believe the US Constitution is violated.

PJ   September 2nd, 2008 9:24 pm ET

Talk about elitist and out of touch people. The RNC is nothing more or less than a national country club.

Tracey   September 2nd, 2008 9:18 pm ET

Women, we will have a bunch of children! Case closed! Are you thinking now?

Tracey   September 2nd, 2008 9:17 pm ET

Men and women, just remember, Roe-V-Wade overturned! Enough said!

Think about it..."KG"   September 2nd, 2008 9:13 pm ET

Yeah, "KG", cause that worked out so well for Texas the last time they seceded.

Texan for Obama   September 2nd, 2008 9:12 pm ET

As I native Texan, I'm ashamed…

Andrew   September 2nd, 2008 9:05 pm ET

Have they produced "Thank you W" buttons in the Chinese Lanquage?

They have benefited most from W's policy.

Tony   September 2nd, 2008 9:04 pm ET

Why oh why didn't those Texas Supreme Court buttons
contain also a picture of Clarence Thomas?

David   September 2nd, 2008 9:03 pm ET

All Texas is known for is giving America bad presidents LBJ, now GWB. I hope America learns its lesson this time before thinking again on putting another Texan in the White House

JB   September 2nd, 2008 9:01 pm ET

99% of America thinks Texas folk are just like W. Pompus, ignorant, white, and wrong.

MikeH   September 2nd, 2008 9:01 pm ET

I'm wondering when CNN will discuss the right-wing religous nutjob video that Sara Palin made, say it was "God's will" that America invaded Iraq, and pray to God to have a gas pipeline built in Alaska.

I'm wondering when CNN will discuss the FACT that Sara Palin was a member of an unamerican political group in 1994 that wanted to make Alaska an independant nation.

Palin is an extremist in excess of Bush.

C'mon CNN, post this, what are you afraid of?

TX NATIVE SON   September 2nd, 2008 8:59 pm ET

THEY DO NOT SPEAK FOR ALL OF US!!!

Tracey   September 2nd, 2008 8:58 pm ET

Did they also "thank" him for leaving our economy in such shambles, a war that was unjust and killed many. Did they also thank him for the bad economy and high gas prices. They should be saying "thanks" to the "end of a bad era" in the history of America!

AA   September 2nd, 2008 8:58 pm ET

Thank You W

Oh boy, now there's something you don't hear often. Wonder why. Oh yea, I'll give you 10 trillion reasons.

Peace.

Tanya   September 2nd, 2008 8:58 pm ET

Thanking Bush for Roberts and Alito!
Could there be a better reason NOT TO VOTE for McCain?! Ask yourselves this simple question: how would I explain to my children that I did it to them?

Xavier   September 2nd, 2008 8:56 pm ET

I am from Texas, and I can say that not all Texan's are as ignorant as these delegates. We need to kick the republicans out of our goverment!

Apathy   September 2nd, 2008 8:56 pm ET

The Texas hats were made in mexico with straw from china, thats how cheap they are.I just read it in the paper.Im laughing so hard at those blowhards.

Kelly   September 2nd, 2008 8:56 pm ET

Ok, I am a little upset here by the fact that media and who ever is more concerned about a Republican Nat. Convent., when there are people in the state of Louisiana who are without water, electricity, and food! Not to mention the people who evacuated and were turned around when crossing over into Texas! What is wrong with this country? Seriously? Who cares about the convention, millions of people are sitting in the dark with no air, gas in their cars, or food! Hello………………..COVER THAT

Republican making a run for it!!!   September 2nd, 2008 8:55 pm ET

After this mess of a party is over, I look for the dems to come out swinging with their usual well calculated and very tactful attacks on the war guy and the rest of the repuke's. If you look at the way these campaigns have been run you should clearly be able to see that Obama is the best man for the job. I have made up my mind and I am going to have to jump ship this election cycle and follow my heart. I want to be able to say that I voted for a Black man to be President not just because he is Black but because he is the right man out of the two and it feels good to do what is right for the country and not just voting republican to stay with the party. Vote for Obama in 08 and 2012.

Charlotte   September 2nd, 2008 8:54 pm ET

Roberts is more middle of the road then Bush expected.

Willa PA   September 2nd, 2008 8:51 pm ET

The Conservative party is very, very scary…

fred   September 2nd, 2008 8:51 pm ET

To those of you who are against drilling……..how do you expect to get gas prices down? Do you realize that if we make cars run on something else, we'll all have to buy new cars? I don't think everyone can afford to buy a new car right now. I think drilling here and drilling now is a great idea. Countries that get oil from Saudi Arabia like the U.S pay 3.00 a gallon to get that gas here. In countries with energy independence such as Venezueala, gas is 12 cents a gallon. Big difference. It's not the Bush administration's fault. Every other european country is paying just as much as us or more. Democrats just don't get these common sense facts.

Concerned   September 2nd, 2008 8:50 pm ET

Watch out America! One of the main reasons that John McCain should not be elected President of the United States of America is the Supreme Court. Can you imagine the Justices that he would attempt to appoint? Enough is enough! Wake up America! I love my counttry too much to see us continue to continue path.

Just say "No" to McCain! No Way! No How! No McCain! I want a President that I can claim as my President, a man or woman of whom I can be proud. McCain is not the answer. I have not had a President that I could claim for about 8 long years. Again, Enough is Enough!

Oil Price - Unrelated to Domestic Production   September 2nd, 2008 8:50 pm ET

Domestic production won't help oil price. The reason - it's determined by the world market. For example . . . a barrel pumped from Gulf of Mexico will be sold wherever in the world it will get the best price. It won't be sold in the U.S., in order to fetch a lower price. The market doesn't work that way.

Moreover, an increase in U.S. production would not affect overall world supply. First of all, it would be a drop in the bucket. That never changes price. Besides, total production around the world is tied to total demand. So, increased production from U.S. would have the effect of decreasing production elsewhere . . . causing oil prices to be unchanged.

It's not rocket science. World price of a global commodity isn't changed by increased domestic production. It just isn't.

Thank you W !?!

what planet do these men live on??

McCain is a 72 year old puppet   September 2nd, 2008 8:47 pm ET

It should be:

"Drill here. Drill now. Pay a nickel less in 10 years."

Do the research America!

Ask yourself: How many things have the Republicans been wrong about over the last 8 years?

fred   September 2nd, 2008 8:46 pm ET

I really like Bush's appointees. They are one of the things that Bush did right during his presidency.

Robert   September 2nd, 2008 8:45 pm ET

Even the people wearing "drill here" shirts can understand this math : gas was $1.46 a gallon when Bush took office.

Evangelical for OBAMA   September 2nd, 2008 8:43 pm ET

JESUS said that a tree is known by its fruits.
A bad tree cannot produce good fruits neither can a good tree produce good fruits.

Judging BUSH by his fruits, we can clearly state that he is a BAD tree.

So called evangelicals who do not recognize these are either ignorants or hypocrites like the Pharisees.

Frank, Germany   September 2nd, 2008 8:40 pm ET

Palin was picked because the Republican base thought McCain was too liberal… if this goes on the Libertarian Party will replace the Republicans as the second major party.

Tim Doyle   September 2nd, 2008 8:39 pm ET

There is a reason the GOP is now called Greater Oil Profits!

Dumb Texans   September 2nd, 2008 8:39 pm ET

This is proof that some Texans are dumb.

Oil price is determined by world market. Oil pumped from a U.S. location such as the Gulf gets sold wherever in the world it gets the best price. Just like oil produced outside the U.S. Extra U.S. oil production would affect oil price, only if it radically increased total global supply of oil. That won't happen. First, extra U.S. production would be a drop in the bucket. But even if it greatly increased total global supply . . . it would be offset by less production elsewhere. Total global production is guided by total global demand. More production from on place just means less production from another, with the global market constantly adjusting to reach an equilibrium.

Are you guys following this? It's not rocket science. Bottom line - global market makes source of the oil unimportant, in terms of setting price.

Republicans Hate America   September 2nd, 2008 8:38 pm ET

no more rednecks running our country!

Jan Illinois   September 2nd, 2008 8:37 pm ET

Thanking Bush ? I cant wait for Texas to get to welcome there beloved President home for GOOD. You can all head down to Crawford and watch him live like a shiek on the money that he's stolen from all americans (even Texans).

What?   September 2nd, 2008 8:34 pm ET

Remember, They want us to react so they can use anything to blame our party candidate and supporters. Don't be FOOLED by their hired hands and make any negative comments.

We should now see it's has BEEN their PLAN from the very first blunder.

If there is any negative comments after this article, it's just them pretending to be DEMOCRATS……..WE WILL LET THEM WORD FIGHT AGAINST EACH OTHER…

David, Silver Spring, MD   September 2nd, 2008 8:28 pm ET

It's not Grand Old Party, it's Grand Oil Party.

Either way, it's time for the GOP to head off to the porch and the rocking chair.

Joe in MN   September 2nd, 2008 8:27 pm ET

It's too bad Frank that per capita, Democrats are more educated than Republican, holding higher college degrees and graduate degrees.

Dready1rasta   September 2nd, 2008 8:27 pm ET

What do you expect out of people who still wear those stupid hats? Uh, Hello, it's 2008 not 1888!

Ken Pittsburgh   September 2nd, 2008 8:25 pm ET

Why would Texas thank Bush for the supreme Court this will make a lot of the other parts of the country Mad.

Derek in Seattle   September 2nd, 2008 8:23 pm ET

Conservative SC justices are an injustice.

Donald, Canton NC   September 2nd, 2008 8:23 pm ET

All this country needs is for McCain to have the opportunity to stack the Supreme Court with more of his cronies.

Enough damage has been done to the Constitution and Country already from this Court.

Sherry, Atlanta   September 2nd, 2008 8:23 pm ET

WE ALL KNOW WHAT 'DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW" WILL PRODUCE! *****BAD INVESTMENT*****

DIDN'T "GUSTAV—KATRINIA, ETC." NOT TEACH US ANYTHING?

400 OIL RIGGS ON THE GULF COAST. . .AND THEY WERE STILL CLEANING UP FROM THE LAST STORM THAT CAME THROUGH, BEFORE LAST WEEK-END!

WHEN WILL AMERICA GET SMART????

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   September 2nd, 2008 8:22 pm ET

I agree Frank Smith How does being a fighter pilot ensure that you will make a good president . their are plenty of great football players that would not make good coaches.

Someone with a law degree from Harvard ,12 years in politics, four years in Foriegn relations committee and has traveled to Iraq numerous times and many other countries . His views and wisdom on foriegn afffairs have been comunicated with americans for years now

Sarah Palin ********* we have no idea what she thinks about these matters and to expect the republican party to except this hasty decision based on John McCain meeting her ONE TIME .. is ridiculous. Now they have 60 days. Abortion rights sex education all these things are not going to keep our nation safe. Isn't national security the first priority of the president Apparently it's not JOHN MCCAINS

MI College Student   September 2nd, 2008 8:21 pm ET

FrankSmith, what it the world does that comment have to do with the post, nothing. You have posted close to the same comment in at least 3 other threads; why is that?

A.   September 2nd, 2008 8:20 pm ET

Should we expect anything less from the "Grand Old Party"? Of course not.

Rosalinda   September 2nd, 2008 8:19 pm ET

Frank Smith,

DON'T BE PART OF THE PROBLEM BE PART OF THE SOLUTION AND KEEP QUIET!!

GO HILARY & WE LOVE YOU BARACK!!

MESSAGE PAID FOR BY FRANK SMITH! LAUGH LIFE IS WAY TOO SHORT.

Roger from CA   September 2nd, 2008 8:19 pm ET

Idiots…. The lot of them. Unless the leases are magically approved overnight, the rigs magically built overnight, the oil comes out of the ground and gets to market magically overnight, and–MOST IMPORTANTLY–the amount of oil is 2000% or so more than the most optimistic estimates out there, then the near-to-middle term reduction in the cost of oil will be trivial.

MM   September 2nd, 2008 8:19 pm ET

"drill here, drill now, pay less" — delusional.

Peter, TX   September 2nd, 2008 8:18 pm ET

well, alright whatever you can find Republicans - even if it makes you look like you've lost your mind. Go ahead Republicans, I am enjoying this, better than Jon Stewart (well, almost).

This is one of the reason why Voting for Obama/Biden is needed now more then ever. People open your eyes and ears don't let our rights and freedoms be taken away from us.

For your children and yourself Vote for Obama/Biden and other democrats so we can get our country.

KG   September 2nd, 2008 8:16 pm ET

Texas, if Obama becomes President, please secede from the US, then come back and kick our behinds so we can get rid of him!!

jeff - Dallas   September 2nd, 2008 8:16 pm ET

As a non delegate, and a registered Independent, I am real concerned about the direction of the Supreme Court. The Court should be middle of the road, independent of party. It has gone way too conservative, and against individual rights.

50 year old college educated white Texan for Obama

That was the beginning of the end.

Eric   September 2nd, 2008 8:15 pm ET

The stupidity shown here in this article alone is astronomical. Those guys in Cowboy hats look pathetic.

Jay   September 2nd, 2008 8:15 pm ET

While I am grateful to President Bush for putting two strict Constitutionalist judges on the Supreme Court of the United States, I cannot help but recall that he originally wanted Harriet Miers for the job (which Samuel Alito ultimately got)…something that put we conservatives into open revolt over Bush's attempt to essentially put another Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the bench.

Happy we have two conservative stalwarts on the bench of the SCOTUS? You bet. But the credit does not go solely to Bush.

Render Thomas   September 2nd, 2008 8:14 pm ET

What are they thanking W for? Texas seems to be so out of touch with reality and if the two justices he appointed had their way the United States would probably become a theocracy… As for the "Drill here- Drill now…" buttons… That is just ignorance…

for real?   September 2nd, 2008 8:14 pm ET

"Drill here, drill now!?!"

That's what what Bristol told Levi.

Jeff in Houston   September 2nd, 2008 8:13 pm ET

I may have been raised here but THANK GOD I wasn't born here….

Phil Newton from Murphy, Oregon   September 2nd, 2008 8:11 pm ET

The Republicans have done such a splendid job of roughing THEMSELVES up, it hardly seems necessary to do any more.

It seems…unkind.

Poetic Justice   September 2nd, 2008 8:11 pm ET

Proud American   September 2nd, 2008 8:10 pm ET

Trouble witha capital T… this is what McCain will continue to let seep into our justice system.

FrankSmith   September 2nd, 2008 8:08 pm ET

As someone recently wrote:

2 out of every 3 democrats have low levels of intelligence!!! How any democrat can ever say no to a Constitutional Scholar (such as Obama) to vote for a fighting pilot amazes even me with mild mental retardation!

Even with my low level of IQ, I know that Hillary will never again have the chance that she just missed by running a "poorly" managed campaign.
