Pawlenty and Romney had better toe the party line and defend McCain's poor judgment in picking Gov. Palin!

There's a decent chance Palin soon may be forced to resign due to the mounting crisis over her lack of qualifications. In that case, McCain might likely pick Pawlenty or Romney to save his campaign.

Would they think it was a "private matter" if it was Biden, Clinton or Obama's daughter? The Republican party would attack so quickly and relentless on the "family value" issue that it would make your head spend.

There is a reason why this is becoming less of an issue and not the firestorm it would be if the tables were turned.

I'm not surprised that 3 top Republicans support McCain's ill advised and poorly planned choice for VP. Are they going to act like sore losers and say, "Yes, she's horribly underqualified and he should have chose me". Its called party politics, and its is a reminder that because of the last 8 years of miserable leadership that the Republican's are desperate to create a legacy out of a latrine.

He could have selected any number of better qualified and experienced women or men as VP. I could care less whether it is a man or woman, old or young. If they are the best person for the job, then so be it. McCain's statement to everyone is that a 2 year governor is the best person for the job, and the proper replacement for him should anything befall him. I think not. Let her deal with her family buisness in her own way with her loved ones. Her national and political naiveté with a major political office is sufficient enough to dismiss this candidate outright.

Even if Palin wasn't the hot issue, Obama clearly has the vision, drive, and experience (even if not as extensive as the other candidates) to lead this country and provide a brighter and better day for all Americans.

Folks, there are major newspapers all over the country – including Anchorage, Alaska – running very informative pieces about Palin. You need to vet her for yourselves. Check places like Anchorage, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York….

You'll be amazed at what you aren't hearing on TV or radio. Her own home state newspaper has excellent info – including a front page article today about how she wasn't vetted by the McCain camp.

I will vote for Obama if Palin is on the ticket.

She voted for the pork belly project for the bridge to nowhere and now she reverses her opinion since she is running for VP. She also has the investigation going on for ethics which is the reason why we SHOULD NOT TRUST HER as our VP. Not to mention her 17 year old daughter is pregnant out of wedlock. What kind of example is this for young americans? I guess young woman will think if our vice president's daughter got preganant out of wedlock at 17, then why can't I? If a woman is going to claim that abstinence only education is a realistic way to teach safe sex to our children, and her 17-year old daughter has clearly not learned the lesson, then that pregnancy is now an issue on the table. You can't claim a type of teaching and then say that the policy does not apply to your family. Her daughter was apparently taught abstinence. Guess what, she had sex, didnt use a condom, and is now pregnant – all before graduating high school. Clearly the abstinence-only educational methods were NOT effectuve.

I’ve heard a lot of talk lately about what is on and off the table when it comes to politics and their family’s and their family’s choices. This is the conclusion I have come to with regard to Sarah Palin and her expecting daughter, and what topic are on and off the table for public discussion…

ON the table: The wonderful choice Bristol Palin has made in choosing to keep her child.

OFF the table: The effectiveness of abstinence only education, a campaign platform of Sarah Palin’s, and her ablility to use this stragety to effectively deter/reduce teenage pregnancies in her own family, let alone the state she currently governs or our nation as a whole.

OFF the table: Any mention of facts or statistics regarding the negative impact of teenage pregnancies (for both young men and women in that situation) with respect to furthering their education, job opportunities, etc. for both them and their children.

OFF the table: Statistics citing children of teenage mothers are more likely to have teenage pregnancies of their own.

OFF the table: Any discussion regarding the dangers of unprotected sex.

ON the table: The fact that the Palin family holds Bristol’s “CHOICE” to keep her baby, a private family matter.

OFF the table: The fact that if elected, Sarah Palin would pursue legislation (and Supreme Court Justices) to limit or eliminate this very same CHIOCE for other women.

ON the table: The wonderful fact that has Bristol has chosen to marry the father of her unborn child.

OFF the table: Any mention of statistics regarding the success/failure of marriages formed under these circumstances.

ON the table: The fact that having a pregnant teenage daughter only makes Sarah Palin more like “a real American”, and therefore only makes her more qualified and ready to lead our nation.

OFF the table: Any discussion of a Sarah Palin’s ability to parent and provide an effective role model to her children, and any correlation to how effective she may be as leader of our nation.

OFF the table: Any and all discussion of anything negative regarding Bristol Palin’s pregnancy.

ON the table: Any and all positive spin that can be placed around the Bristol Palin pregnancy.

You may be able to take this “off the table” table of public politics…
BUT, you can not take this topic off of one table, my kitchen table. Or the table’s of parents around this country. This is a serious topic. It should be discussed, not shoved under the carpet, because it comes at an inconvenient time for the GOP.

If as they claim, John McCain chose Sarah Palin knowing that her teenage daughter was pregnant (which I don’t believe), then you chose to inject her and this topic into the race. If he didn’t know, then it calls into question the fact that he acted without having all the facts (sound familiar?). Either way it was either a poor decision, or the worst kind of political stunt/gimmick, exploited for a short term political gain. Either way, it shows a serious lack of JUDGEMENT!!!

So, morals are flexible now that the Republicans have all the problems. What a surprise.

I doubt very seriously if the McCain camp vetted MS. Palin as thorough as he indicated. We all know you honestly do not know a person until you live with them as did Joe Biden and Barack Obama. I guess like the current Administration and the President, they think that we are still in their pocket and that the American People just don't get it and won't get it (that the Republicans are corrupt and play dirty pool). Well we have opened our eyes, and no McCain you cannot just put anyone in the VP position and think that we as a people won't vet them. All this talk about Palin being such a "regular gal" is absurd. Fine, she's a nice lady with a sweet family having some private troubles, so elect her Vice President of the PTA. Same with McCain, who is a sincere old man who believes in a strong and proud America, making him an excellent candidate for president of the VFW. We should NOT be voting for the "average American" (as if owning seven homes is average), or the candidate we can best "relate to." Our President should be much smarter and more knowledgeable than the average American.

Governor Palin was NOT vetted. I truly feel for Bristol. This young woman has been put in the spot light concerning a very private matter. Too bad her mother is putting her political ambitions above her children. God help all Governor Palin's children especially her infant son and pregnant daughter. They need their mother's undivided attention RIGHT now.

Palin also tried to fire the librarian when she was mayor, because Palin was trying to ban certain books and the librarian would not allow her. The town fought back and Palin backed down.

They are wrong to say this is a non issue, if millions are talking about it, its an issue. We are concerned about how her policies are going to affect our daily lives. It was the same issue raised when Obamas affiliation to Rev Wright was questioned, how was that going to affect his policies. Same thing here. I am not judging, I too was a teenage mother. Having been raised in a religious family I chose to keep the baby. I would like my daughter to have a little more information when making decisions that are going to affect her body and life. I would be mortified if my daughter was having a baby and getting married at seventeen. Yes, I would support and love her, we all would, but the point is to avoid that isnt it? Isnt that what abstinence education is supposed to be about? Isnt that what Sarah wants for the rest of Americas daughters.

If my daughter was pregnant and 17, I would curse her out, chastize her, scream at her…..and then I would support her decision and love her what mother wouldnt. How wonderful Sarah is looking forward to being a grandma, well lady, and I am one, if thats what you want for my daughter, seventeen and pregnant, your crazy.

Just like your daughter had a choice and wants her privacy, I want my daughter to be able to make her choices privately. Just like your daughter can choose to have her baby because you and the family feel thats whats right for her. I want to be able to make the decision with my daughter. I want my daughter to have all the information available so she can make the decision that is best for her, based on her circumstances.

It's obvious that the Republicans are trying to destroy the political process by making this election about a singular social issue once again. Hmmm... Has this happened before? How about four years ago. The Bush administration wasn't able to keep their promises then because the issue was too polarizing to come to an agreement on. Again, a polarizing issue is going to motivate the conservative right to visit the polls and cast their votes without thinking.

With a brother who is about to return to Iraq in three months, I cannot stand the thought of a man who voted with Bush 90% of the time. Obama has collected 6 times as much donation money from our troops than McCain. Who do they believe in? Obama.

Where did the values of a small efficient government go? Who will regulate all of these social laws that the conservatives want to push through? How much money will that cost?

There is video of Sarah herself in front of her church in JUNE claiming "Iraq is a Task from God" in a call to prayer. Also apparently so is the pipeline, wanting people to pray for that.
