Biden: 'Barack has real experience'

Biden has been on the road defending Obama's record.

(CNN) - Sen. Joe Biden on Wednesday defended criticism of running mate Barack Obama’s Senate record while campaigning in the crucial battleground state of Florida.

“Barack has real experience,” the Democratic VP candidate said. “This guy could have written his ticket to go anywhere. Anywhere at all.”

Biden was speaking at a campaign event focused on the economy in Fort Myers, Florida and discuessed Obama’s stance on the war in Iraq, his work on ethics reform in the Senate, and his proposals on solving the energy crisis. Biden also explicitly dismissed Senator John McCain’s experience in the Senate.

“30 years of bad experience ain’t worthwhile experience,” he said. “You’re not going to take your car—you’re not going to take your car back to a mechanic who for 30 years in a row has screwed it up.”

Biden himself has spent 36 years in the Senate. McCain has worked in Congress since 1982, serving in the Senate since 1987.

Biden was specifically responding to comments McCain aide Rick Davis made to The Washington Post earlier this week when he predicted that this election will come down to each candidates' personas.

"This election is not about issues," Davis said to The Post. "This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."

Biden sharply criticized that statement, citing the country's economic woes.

“Not about issues?” Biden said. “Well, let me tell you, that means to them this election is not about you being able to scrape up the tuition money to send your kid off to college this September. It's not about whether or not you're going to fill up your gas tank.”

You are all scared. You should be. Typing away furiously with what you think are "clever" little comments. They don't matter. You are just preaching to people that already agree with you. Bite your fingernails boys and girls. This is quickly slipping out of your control. I see your nervousness and bitterness in every word you type. I enjoy reading your attempts to matter.

This is so funny, but we will see come Oct. 2nd... Rep. had this all planned and they use comments on these blogs and say that the Obama camp is behind the sexism against Palin. Wow, big round of aplause for McCaine's campaign. Obama has never said anything sexist about this woman, only the media. But now the Rep. are saying, "Hey vote for us, because the media is being sexist!" What a bunch of crap... When the Rep. questioned Obama's experience it was fine, now that Palin's experience is being questioned it's sexist...

What is shocking to me is what is not being said. At the DNC there was an inclusive atmosphere. There were Spanish, African Americans, Oriental Americans etc. Look at EVERY picture from the RNC and all you see is a sea of Mostly RICH "none of my kids are in Iraq so I dont care how long we are there" people. The issues at
    hand are

What party or candidate speaks for ALL AMERICANS?
What party or candidate wants to end the war?
What party or candidate thinks the tax cuts for the wealthy ARE WRONG?
What candiate in 8 years has CHANGED on every single point
    (Swiftboating, Tax cuts,Afirmitive Action etc)

If HRC supporters feel that Mccain offers the BEST chance on solving the above problems not only are they misinformed but they are STUPID to.

"This election is not about issues..."?????? The Republicans have NO freakin clue...period....If you vote for John McCain and Sara Palin you are a FOOL! pure and simple..this has nothing to do with experience vs non-experience..(the repubs blew that argument when John picked Palin as his #2). This has nothing to do with sexism...(a woman with NO experience and questionable past is bad for the country just as if she were a man). This is about ISSUES and McCain/Palin are on the WRONG SIDE OF THEM!!

I must say I really, really enjoy watching the facist liberal movement scramble around when they are faced with honesty, integrity and morality. Character traits that are so foreign to them. But after 36 years in the make believe senate, Biden has long since given up any pretense of ethics. Honest career politiction, ethical lawyer, moral jurist, unicorn, leprecan are all mythical creatures and only exist in fairy tales told to children.

    Country first:

Does Palin have legislative experience? Does she have a policy to end the war in Iraq other than her statement that she does not have time to think about Iraq and the Iraq war is an act of God? She has been a part-time mayor where she was almost recalled for ethic violation. She has been governor for 18 months and already is under investigation for abuse of power. She hired a lobbiest for a town of 5,000 people and the lobbiest has connections with Jack Abramoff. She supported the bridge no where. Is not in charge of the national guard. Don't look at the title, but see what she has done which is nothing. She is unqualified. Just because she is governor for 18 mo. does not equate to knowing what you are doing.

Country First – Small town You are right. I am looking forward to watching Gov. Palin tonight. This will be the first time in my 58 years watching a Republican Convention. If someone told me – I would have never believed it.

Barack Obama Has very little if any experience when it comes to making decissions about how to run a country or even a state .

Here is a person who votes present on the floor but doesn,t vote to approve or disapprove the bills which are being discussed on the floor.

Here is a person who would not hold his hand over his heart while the pledge of allegiance was being said nor did he say the allegiance.

Here is a person who thinks it is wrong to wear a pin of the American Flag on his lapel. Why? because he doesn't think it is proper.

Here is a man who can't comprehend the total spectrun of the picture on what he is doing wrong in this campaign. He claims to have done this and that but when someone checks out his story and I said story
there is nothing to prove or back up what he claims to do.

Here is a man who presents the American people the solution to many problems,, when you look at the solution ITS IS A BANDAID

HERE IS A MAN THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE EXPERIENCE TO RUN OR BE PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY

The election' IS about the issues – at least if you're a person making less than 5 million a year.

    Thanks Joe.

  20. Morals and Values for sale!

Joe Biden...humble man, takes the train to work for 30 years. Loved his wife, lost her in an accident, and raised some good boys.

Married a good woman who stuck by his side and vice versa. Happily married close to 15-20 years.

Barack Obama, marries his true love. Two beautiful, well mannered daughters. Shows public affection for his wife and truly believes she is his partner and not his play thing. Gave up Money out of college at Harvard to work for less fortunate people. Turned down Major cash.

John McCain. POW...... and uh, well, POW and cheated on his first wife multiple times, left her for a younger, richer woman. Allowed Reagan and Nancy Reagan and Ross Perot to take care of Carol McCain more than he has.

Sarah Palin... mother of 5, Mayor and Gov of one of the least populated states in America. Claim to fame is the PTA and being a reformer who asks for Earmarks by the millions. Daughter pregnant at 17 out of wedlock.

Which party is the party of Morals again?

    WAY TO GO, JOE!

We the people... (you know, the people Bush has forgotten about)... have ALWAYS been focused on the ISSUES of this campaign. It is WAY TOO IMPORTANT not to!

Image seems to be more important to Republicans than really trying to come up with specific SOLUTIONS to cure America's woes.

I wish they would show clips of the officer who came before Biden, that was an amazing talk he gave, you can tell it came from the heart. Then Biden really blew me away with the realness to him. He spoke from the heart as well. I had to go to the bathroom a few time's and had to turn it off because I was at work but I really wish I didn't have to miss it, I wanted to see the whole thing so bad.

This election is not about issues. Are you kidding me. If you ever needed any evidence of how out of touch the Republican party is that has got to be it. Looking at the people that were attending the "convention" last night left me nauseated. It looked less like a convention and more like an Aryan Nation meeting.

Alaska has a state law, that which prohibits Moose from having sex on public roads.

But for a 17 year old girl to get pregnant seems to be ok. haha

By the way, Obama has more experience than palin and McCain together ever will have.
