Biden: 'Barack has real experience'

Biden has been on the road defending Obama's record.

(CNN) - Sen. Joe Biden on Wednesday defended criticism of running mate Barack Obama’s Senate record while campaigning in the crucial battleground state of Florida.

“Barack has real experience,” the Democratic VP candidate said. “This guy could have written his ticket to go anywhere. Anywhere at all.”

Biden was speaking at a campaign event focused on the economy in Fort Myers, Florida and discuessed Obama’s stance on the war in Iraq, his work on ethics reform in the Senate, and his proposals on solving the energy crisis. Biden also explicitly dismissed Senator John McCain’s experience in the Senate.

“30 years of bad experience ain’t worthwhile experience,” he said. “You’re not going to take your car—you’re not going to take your car back to a mechanic who for 30 years in a row has screwed it up.”

Biden himself has spent 36 years in the Senate. McCain has worked in Congress since 1982, serving in the Senate since 1987.

Biden was specifically responding to comments McCain aide Rick Davis made to The Washington Post earlier this week when he predicted that this election will come down to each candidates' personas.

"This election is not about issues," Davis said to The Post. "This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."

Biden sharply criticized that statement, citing the country's economic woes.

“Not about issues?” Biden said. “Well, let me tell you, that means to them this election is not about you being able to scrape up the tuition money to send your kid off to college this September. It's not about whether or not you're going to fill up your gas tank.”

    To leslie, MA

I know how you feel, but we democrats are on it.

Who is Sarah Palin, you ask?

Ms. Palin is an insipid moosehunter who has a special needs child and a 17 year old pregnant daughter who will soon participate in a shotgun wedding to her 18 year old boyfriend. Ms. Palin and her husband need to be at home taking care of their family crisis instead of carrying water for mccain.

Ms. Palin is up to her eyeballs in an abuse of power scandal. She was interviewed once by mcsenile before he decided that she was somehow qualified to run this country in case of his demise.

Obama and Biden are lawyers, neither of them have had honest work in their lifetimes. Biden – a man who can speak for hours and never say a thing. Obama – see the Saddleback interview.

    Some FACTS about Ms. Palin:

    1) Her husband was an active member of the Alaskan Independence Party, not once, but twice and she supported him both times. They want Alaska to secede from the U.S. and be it's own entity. I guess Sara thinks that if she succeeds she will, of course, run it.

    2) Palin voted for the "Bridge to Nowhere", Sen. Ted Stevens' pork barrel project, before she voted against it. Stevens says he is totally innocent, however the FBI ahs taped recordings of Stevens on the phone with contractors and Steves has hired lawyers to try to keep the tapes from being admissible at trial. Sound innocent to you?

    3) She is vehemently against sex education in the shools and says ABSTINENCE ONLY education. Perhaps she should have made that clearer to her daughter.

    4) She voted for Pat Buchannan in 2000 and shares MANY of his views.

    5) She met with, and hired lobbyists to try and secure $27 million dollars in pork barrel spending for her tiny town of only (50 employees), something McCain has proclaimed from day one he is against, but she was defeated.

    6) Her husband has an arrest record for drinking and driving, but I guess that is something that is so common in the Bush family, and with republicans in general, that they probably didn't think that was important when selecting her.

    7) She says God wanted the war in Iraq and that the U.S. should stay there.

    8. She is currently under investigation to see if she abused the power of her office by having a State Commissioner fired for not firing her brother-in-law who was having marital problems with her sister.

    9) McCain lied when he said that she had been vetted months ago. Fact is she was not vetted until the day before the announcement.

    10) McCain lied when he said that he knew about her daughter's pregnancy a few months ago. Fact is, he just found out this past Saturday.

    11) Her daughter's boyfriend said on his MySpace blog just yesterday, before it was removed, that he did NOT want children now, and I am just a redneck…I will kick butt.. What else is there to do in Alaska other than play hockey, fish and hunt, party, drink, do drugs and have lots of sex.

Why is CNN Closing all the blogs so early: I dont get it; however, its not the news media or the Democratic party that is making an issue out of Mrs. Palin's personal life, it is the REPUBLICAN Party themselves, because if they can turn the attention off of what they have done to this country and divert peoples minds to things that dont matter like Mrs. Palin's daughter which is no ones business then they can walk right back down Pennsylvania, and America if you fall for this, shame on you! If this was Obama's child, and if he had 1/2 the background that the current president has, he wouldnt even be considered for the whitehouse. When it comes to experience, if we look at her being Governor than she has more experience then Everybody; however in Barack's position; when it comes to experience, He didnt jsut walk into Harvard and he didnt walk out! Read Clarence Thomas book! African americans have to be twice as good! If Oboma had Bush's grades, would he be considered? Nope! what about McCain's grades, what if he divorced and married his lover within weeks or months, would he be considered? We know the answer to that,a dn also know this: Barack Obama, because he is Black, and because he does need to be twice as good, he is just the person we need to lead America out of the Moral Mess the Republicans has gotten us into! What if Barack belonged to a party that wanted to succeed from the Union; do we remember the 60's and Nixon's hit list, and how people were ruined if the thought of them being a communist came to light? Remember how they tried to tie MLK to the Communist party... Republican's please quit moving the starting line

Joe, you need to debate her. Please let that happen and soon!!!!!!!!
DEBATE BETWEEN BIDEN AND PALIN. That would be worth putting our for popcorn and a bag of M&M's. Make that a large popcorn and large bag of M&M's. A real treat.

Does anybody else find the McCain camp makes them feel more and more uneasy each day? I used to really admire the man, but his selection of a running mate who he didn't even know was the exact opposite of "Country First". It was reckless and unpatriotic. My anger has nothing to do with Palin. We don't have a clue about her, and neither does John McCain. At least pick someone you can vouch for.

How foolish can Democrats be? Joe Biden says Barack Obama has real experience "he could have written his ticket to anywhere." Is that experience? As a matter of fact, Obama did write his ticket, from less than two years as a Senator to attempting to be leader of the free world. The jury is out, but I'm afraid that the idiots outnumber the common-sense Americans and the idiots will put no-experience Obama in, and then complain that the Republicans were behind it. (Shades of their votes on the Iraq War)

it's not only about experience, it's about judgment. mccain and palin lack the judgment needed to be successful

  13. maeve

Oh for crying out loud! McCain ditched the experience argument when he picked Palin because he knew the experience argument was a loser.

We voters must look to the candidates' judgement, temperment, knowledge, and stands on the issues we are most concerned with to make our decision.

All this arguing about who's got what kind of experience for a job none of the candidates have yet had is completely circular and innane.

Being a governor doesn't guarantee that you have the right experience and judgement for the next level. Look at George Bush. He was the governor of texas and look at the state of our economy and our reputation around the world.

McCain got it wrong with the invasion of Iraq and has failed again in his selection of his VP. Nobody should make this Sarah Palin an issue of gender. It's all about John McCain's judgement when it comes to making important decisions. See, he will be nominating supreme judges if he becomes president; is this the kind of judgement he will make?

The father and mother Palin should be there supporting their daughters at this critical time. They've got to have a lot of guts to be a center of attraction at this moment in time. We all have some conservative values such abstinence so shouldn’t Mr & Mrs Palin be supporting their other active daughters before there get in harms way instead of going John McCain’s way. Please let’s be careful of the message we send out to teenagers out there – they should not get to the point where they have to make a decision of ‘keeping the baby’. Did somebody say Mr & Mrs Palin are encouraging the 17-year old daughter to get married because she mistakenly becomes pregnant; was this planned?

The Republicans have more positive things to say about Palin than they do about McCain.

Why haven't the Republicans elevated this woman's name and accomplishments before now if she is so extraordinary?

Is there a woman alive who can't see that this woman is being used?

You talk nonsense because you are brainwashed.

Remember, when Palin husband had DUI – OBAMA was doing drugs and he admitted to it.

We know what City Councilmembers do, we know what Mayors do, we know what Governors do but what does "Community Organizers" do?

Oh – may be they organize with people like William Ayers – self admitted "American Terrorist...

This is why I am a Democrat. We don't use the fear card to gain votes. We are focused on the issues! The Republikkkan party cannot run on issues!

~First of all, the knowledge of Democrats is showcased in this array of comments left by them. Why don't you learn to spell and speak correctly before you make negative and/or positive comments about either of the candidates or parties? Parties are what is tearing this nation apart. We're all in the same boat here: scraping the bottom of the barrel for gas money, breathing in smog, and worrying about our childrens' future in such an uncertain time. But when you think about it, Obama WOULDN"T even put his hand pver his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance AND he took the American flag off of his plane. Aside from the accusations and policies, these actions alone should determine the vote.

    Obama Zombies,

Polls mean nothing – America will not buy the hype in November.

People are just waiting for the chance to cast that vote. The arrogance of the media and Obama is going to bite them.

Or as Obama's "spiritual mentor" once stated "The chickens are coming home to roost" on Obama's head.....

Vote McCain or join the insane....
