Palin to highlight reform

Palin will speak Wednesday night.

Palin will speak Wednesday night.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republicans' vice presidential candidate, will highlight her record as a governor and mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, when she speaks to the Republican National Convention Wednesday night. She will also call for reform in Washington, a top aide to Palin told CNN.

Watch: Palin tours RNC stage

"She will speak as a governor, a former mayor and someone with both hands on the steering wheel of America's energy economy," Palin aide Tucker Eskew said. "She will detail her record of shaking up the status quo in Alaska and standing up to entrenched interests to put the government back on the side of the people. She will make the case for senator McCain as the only candidate who has fought for America and the best man to protect us in dangerous times."

Palin is slated to speak in the prime-time 10 p.m. ET hour.

She can talk all she wants, but the fact that:

    – She dabbled/flirted with a party advocating secession seems to fly in the face of the "patriotism" claim;
    – Her family situation flies in the face of the "family values" concept;
    – The fact that she has had to hire a lawyer for the ethics investigation contradicts the concept of "integrity," and most of all,
    – Her comment that she needs to have explained to her what a vice-president does screams a lack of knowledge.

These things alone are enough to question not only her "qualification"
for the job, but McCain's JUDGMENT.
One more thing: That 3:00 a.m. phone call? If she ends up being president, will her special needs child, her presumably soon-to-be wed 17-yr. old daughter, or personal legal issues keep her from answering????

I am beyond miffed! 2 (TWO) years as Governor of which 9 months of it she spent PREGNANT – knowing her baby had Down's. Pardon me? How much REAL executive experience did you say Palin has? ...and she has MORE than McCain? …afterall, he is a Senator — SHE is a GOVERNOR ...of Alaska.

    Tell me this ain't so?!!

    Silly. This is BLATANTLY silly!

I would laugh if it wasn't so profoundly un-funny !!

The media had no problem at all beating up on the black presidential candidate. Obama's media coverage was 70% negative! Now the media is supposed to lay off of Palin because she's a woman? John McCain has used sexism to try and galvanize the boring, no-issues to speak of, republican party and to try and get Hillary supporters to come over to his side. John McCain put Palin in the spotlight. What do the republicans expect? Silence from the media? Silence from America? I don't think so.

tonight i will get to see what is this palin made of. I know one thing I sure hope she can bring it, like the mccain people keep saying she can. Let's see the spunk and how she can shake up washington.

One thing I think people are afraid of is saying the wrong thing to this woman, why in the hell are we to tip toe around her? Even the media is scared to say thing in fear mccain's camp will call them sexist, you idiots are falling for what mc old timer wants you to. She is in the race and I don't think she is exempt for the same harsh criticism that Obama is always getting, and another thing why is the media always talking about her 4 month old baby "with down syndrome"? what is this a sympathy ploy? Give me a break

All the media is in an up-roar with John McCain’s Vice Presidential choice for his running mate. Sara Palin is the bravest woman I have seen. She has opened her personal life to cease any speculation of covering-up, and I feel privileged to be able to vote in the up coming election, for I will be a part of history. (In a small but significant vote)

Whats the difference between a man running for VP, and the woman staying home to run the household? The media would be talking about his policys not his family.
The media has unjustifiably attacked Gov Palin, as a mother and a politician.
Where as the media has compared Palin to Spears mother? I don’t think Palin’s Children have been reported as consuming alcohol and partying with their mother.
If you’re going to report the story, report it all.
Do a poll of the American people, and find out what we have to say!
“”IS THE MEDIA UNJUSTIFIABLY ATTACKING GOV. Palin”?
    My answer, YES!!

There's only three reasons for being a Republican, as I see it. I call them The Three R's.
    You're either:
    Rich, a Redneck, or Retarded.
2 out of 3: you get to be a delegate.
3 out of 3: you get to be the president.

PS: Some people would add "religious" to this list, but I'd argue that if you actually think Republicans are more religious, ethical, or moral than Democrats, you probably belong in the third group of the original three R's...

see the same old Obama followers are posting the same old comments that they used on Hillary. Only now it's Palin that they and the Media have turned their hooks to. CAN'T YOU SEE AMERICA WHERE WE ARE HEADED. WE DON'T HAVE PATRIOTS, CHRISTIANS AND PEOPLE HERE WHO WILL FIGHT IF CALLED UPON FOR THE FREEDOM OF THIS COUNTRY. WE WILL FALL AND IT WILL BE BECAUSE FROM WITHIN. IGNORANCE IS BLISS AND THE DEMOCRAT PARTY IS FULL OF IT.

Talk about lobbying and petitioning for ear marks.

Talk about what you actually did as Mayor and Governor that are of any use on a national stage.

Both arms on the steering wheel of energy? Isn't that exactly what the Republicans have had under the Bush and Reagan regimes? Isn't that why we are now in the ditch on gas prices and the oil companies are swimming in profits and running our Republican administration and government?

Talk about freedom of religion and separation of church and state.

Talk about how you will work to retract Roe v Wade

Talk about how you will force libraries to only have the books in them your fath and beliefs say belong there

Talk about your whacked out view on creationism and how it MUST be in every school's curriculum

Talk about how pyscho you are ....

Her goal is to "reform" us right back to the middle ages.

-Pro-Guns (need more of those on the streets)
-Government Rule over Women's right to choose (oh yeah I forgot , the the hard right conservatives way is the only way. Ugh! Let people choose for themselves!)
-Religion/creationism in public schools (will NEVER, EVER happen)
-Abstinense? Some people put on a condom so that no one gets pregnant at too yopung an age. Also prevents spreading STD's. That teaching abstinense idea works quite well.
-Drilling ANWR when the country is trying move itself toward CONSERVATION!!! Sounds more like more an effort to get big $$ for her friends in Alaska via the oil companies (her husband works for one). I think she has dollar signs in her eyes (but a "reformist would never take money under the table via their political ties, would they?)
-Why would you decide to darg your 17 yr old daughter through the INTERNATIONAL political mud?? I think the daughter would have prefered to keep her private business private! The coice to run for VP is an example of "family values". I would never do that to my daughter. She is probably in room crying right now not wanting to go outside. How sad for her to have to deal with her greedy mom right now.

Let's get back to basics and do what your average American citizens want for a change. The repub's have had 8 years to get it right and look where we are. Time to give someone else a chance to make it work. VOTE for anybody but these republican whacks.

Dear Sarah, While you are at telling us how much you have done; moose hunting, moose skinning, being a pont gaurd, PTA member, and all around Mom of the Year, can you possibly talk some ISSUES? All I have head so far is more negative stuff about the 'other guy'. Let's hear how the Reps are going to fix the messes we have today, thanks mostly to the Rep President. Thanks in advance.

It's one thing to say that the media is going after Sarah palin. But why is she providing them with so much ammunition? The whole scenario is so weird it's starting to look like some sort of reality show.

OK...we all know the story now. It IS damaging to the republicans, let them deal with it. It is now time to focus on the old tired man McCain! He is not a flip flopper, he is transformed! McCain is now owned by the robotic Rove and his evangelical whackos! We cannot afford four more years of neglecting the U.S. while Haliburton and Bechtel eat up our taxes rebuilding Iraq. (Irag has 79 billion in reserves...)

First of all, an infant with Down Syndrome will need BOTH of his parents to be heavily involved FOREVER.

Second, I think Sarah Palin will have a perspective to bring to Bristol's situation that Todd Palin cannot provide.

By the way, this is a very personal question, but is Palin nursing the baby? If so, she cannot ship him off with Todd at any time.

Yep, she shook up the staff where she came from alright.......How is that investigation going??????Used her Gov. office, fired folks, all because of a family issue????????Well, I wonder what all she would like to do in Washington????? never mind ......I do not even want to think about that.Washington is in enough of a mess thanks to bush,chenney,rice,gonzalez,rove...etc.It will take someone with alot more than 22 months as a Gov. of a small amount of people to correct all that is wrong. It will take someone with the right judgement and help that will surround Obama to correct the mess that is left by the bushy crew.
