Schneider: Palin appears in the nick of time

ST. PAUL (CNN) - They cut out the video introducing Sarah Palin – she was getting squeezed out of prime time.

Two points about John McCain’s pick here:

By naming her to the ticket, he may have been trying to do two things that are very difficult to do at the same time: rally the base, and make himself look like a maverick. It’s pretty tough to pull off both simultaneously.

Watch: Giuliani says Palin has more experience than the Democratic ticket combined

He did rally the Republican base. Whether he reclaimed his image as a maverick remains to be seen.

McCain may also have been trying to win over women – but the polls so far seem to indicate that did not happen.

This whole Republican CONvention has been nothing more than a Bash Obama Party. Not one of the speakers can refrain from mentioning Obama's name and talk about the issues. When and where are these snakes going to start talking about the issues like the ECONOMY, HEALTH CARE? Just like Obama said, they don't have a platform of their own, so all they do is BASH.

Forget Iraq, I like most Americans couldn't care less what goes on over there. Whats more important is whats happening HERE. And please, someone who "supports" this war, what exactly do we "Win" in Iraq?

All of these have been red meat. Palin is not coming off very gracious. I think that this pick was a mistake.

I can't believe these Repugs speakers kept pushing the topic of Palin's "executive" experience being more worthy than Obama's experience as a senator. Well then maybe Palin should have be the presumptuous president candidate instead of Senator McCain since she has more "executive" experience than he ever had.

The GOP managed tonight, like the Palin selection, VERY POORLY.

The video of Sarah Palin was MUCH MORE IMPORTANT...given that we DON'T KNOW HER....only sordid crap about her family, and have lots of misgivings given that McCain is 72 and both his father and grandfather died in their early 70's.

So far she hasn't said anything. She still seems very un-qualified. All she has said is everything that the people have said before. Where is the meat?
