From CNN Senior Political Analyst Bill Schneider ST. PAUL (CNN) — Romney opens by bashing the East — he was the governor of Massachusetts! You can’t get much more East than that. This is an ancient conservative bias, dating back to the Goldwater era. You have to acknowledge that Romney knows liberals; he was governor of probably the most liberal state in the country. Of course, listening to his speech, you’d never guess that George Bush – probably the most conservative president in history — has been president for the past eight years.
