ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) – Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty addressed the Republican convention Thursday night, but it was a far cry from the VP address that many once thought he would give.

His address Thursday came early — around 7 p.m. local time. Delegates were still filing in as he was speaking, and many inside the Xcel Center talked throughout his speech.

The delegations seated close to the stage were paying attention and chanting "John McCain," but in other parts of the room, it was hard to hear what he was saying over all of the chatter.

Pawlenty was considered one of the top contenders for John McCain's VP slot on the GOP ticket.

Question: If an unnecessary and misguided war costs us up to $2 trillion in unpaid debt (not to mention over 4,000 American and countless other innocent Iraqi lives), what happens to the strength of the dollar? If the dollar weakens, then isn't that a sort of tax on all Americans… courtesy of our "tough-talking, highly experienced" Republican friends? Oh… and by the way, Bin Laden, mastermind of the most deadly attack ever on American soil… is still out there.

Personally, I would have commanded the rooms attention … but I'm that kinda gal … I could not have given a speech like that. What a joke.

Tim is saving all his rhetoric for when he runs in 2012. Why alienate the American people now when you're not going to be on the ticket?
