ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin introduced herself to the world Wednesday by calling herself a "hockey mom" and then asking what the difference was between a hockey mom and a pit bull.

"Lipstick," the Republican vice-presidential nominee said.

She promptly went on to prove the point, tearing into Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama as two-faced, inexperienced and intoxicated by the sound of his own voice.

HA HA HA!!!!!!!!
All you hard core left wing nuts can cry all you want . The bottom line is she hit Obama hard. Every thing she said about him last night was true and right on point. The best response you can give is to compare her to bush. Face it Obama had his but handed to him by this little woman from a little town in Alaska.

Michael   September 4th, 2008 9:11 am ET

When you don't have a plan, you have to come out swinging.

Sharon   September 4th, 2008 9:11 am ET

So she's a pit bull . . . but with lipstick. She's going to tear throats out.
How lovely. I'm sorry, Sarah, but being mayor of a little fishing village isn't even close to Obama's years in the trenches of urban Chicago working with jobless blue collar men and women and setting up programs for thousands of children. Don't insult community organizers. It doesn't become you.

interesting   September 4th, 2008 9:11 am ET

This is a tough woman and I love it.

PUMA 2008!

Kim   September 4th, 2008 9:11 am ET

I have learned from experience that all you have to do is sit back and let it hit the fan. Palin was unprofessional, spiteful, condesending, and rude last night. Compare that to a man who stated just a few days ago that no one should attack her family. Barack and Joe are simply smiling and planning because they know she has just handed them an early Christmas present. No record, no ideas, and no concern for those in the communities that are struggling on a daily basis. I can't wait to vote!!

J Johnson   September 4th, 2008 9:11 am ET

Next time I need someone to back me up in a schoolyard argument, Sarah is my pick, all the way. She showed she can stick her tongue out and "nanny nanny boo boo" with the best of them. Beware Vladimir Putin, and just remember that stuff about sticks and stones.

But as a national leader? The dripping sarcasm, the unbroken string of one-liners, the lack of thoughtfulness behind the attacks is not likely to play well in the long run. Neither is the condescension toward those she does not agree with. The irony of Ms. Small Town America belittling community organizers seemed to fly right over her head.

In fact, the whole tone of the Republican Convention so far seems to have dropped in from a parallel universe, and one long ago and far away. The best they've got is the 40 year old "evil media" and "pointy-headed liberals" attacks? I almost expected Spiro Agnew's corpse to be rolled out.

In keeping with Ms. Palen's apparent lack of self-realization, there was the very odd parade of George Bush, Thompson, Lieberman, Romney, et al attacking the "Washington establishment." With perfectly straight faces, and without a hint of realization that they ARE the exact establishment they decry. Similarly, they seriously put forth John McCain as a great renewing agent of "change." So why was he collecting his paycheck for his first 26 years in evil Washington? Suddenly he gets it?

It's all bizarre and surreal, and has less than nothing to do with the issues. It smacks of desperation, is childish, simplistic, and frankly faux-reverse-elitist in its own right.

BTW, I am a Hillary voter who is highly insulted at the implication I might vote chromosomes rather than issues.

PRinNJ   September 4th, 2008 9:10 am ET

As I watched the convention last night I couldn't help but see a large number of signs that said "Prosperity". What I didn't see or hear was any indication of how we can go from a failing economy to prosperity. To paraphrase an old marketing slogan, "Where's the Beef!".

jeanette   September 4th, 2008 9:10 am ET

Community organizers around the country are going to speak out forcefully against Palin and the republicans.
Community organizers are a very important part of the country, and for the republicans to throw punches against them as act as though they are to be made fun of, is just shameful.

Palin really is clueless.

John   September 4th, 2008 9:10 am ET

To everyone out there that is so delusional to believe that Gov. Sarah Palin's speech last night was great let me ask you something... did her speech last night tell you more about who she is other than irritable? Did she give ANY specific details of what she plans to do when in the White House? Can you honestly believe she was given all that time last night to speak, and she told us nothing. All she did last night was talk about Sen. McCain, and attack Sen. Obama, and Sen. Biden. She told us exactly what we already knew, and nothing more. We still do not know who Gov. Palin is. All we know is she can pick a fight, but can she win it?

connie b   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

Why is the fact that Ms. Palin has five children – one of them with special needs – makes her qualified to be one breath away from the presidency? I guess that falls into the same line of thought that says since Mr. McCain was a POW he is qualified to be president. I have an uncle who was captured in the early days of WWII and held by the Germans in Africa until the war ended. My grandmother didn't know for nearly 4 years if he was alive or dead. He came home, raised a family, managed a business, but never would have considerd himself a potential president; nor, did he talk about his time in prision constantly. My mother raised 5 children – she certainly didn't consider himself VP material – we all have similar family stories. God help us if this pair is elected!

Mariann Pepitone   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

So Right: You are so right: Democrats now have to fear on winning the election. She hit it on the head last night and more is coming. She can match both Biden and Obama and play the same game. Those that don't think so are shattered democrats waiting for her to fall. But, she is a strong person and will take nothing from them. Hillary should have been that way against Obama but she was too lean. Palin would have given him the atomic bomb and won. She is an attack dog and this is a doge eat dog campaign. You have to be a pit bull when your campaigning and she is.

Woodey From DC   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

She called herself a "pitbull with lipstick".From that speech I think its more like "Bush with lipstick".

JohnWinNC   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

Sure enough, Republicans threw out another critical, verbally abusive, ideological token candidate, "window dressing" for the cut-throat style of politics made famous in 2000 and 2004. She indicated that she is a "pitbull" with lipstick. True, enough, but it also means the GOP has put lipstick on an animal that revels in slop and wallows in the mud.

wow   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

Oabama/Biden have no chance. This woman has more executive experience than all 3 of the senators. Selling the company jet..imagaine what she could do in washington.

Common sense vote for Mccain/Palin..unless you want to hear Obama 'preach' for 4 years. hope, change, blah blah blah...and his 'community' in chicago is still a ghetto. Guess he didn't organize it too much.

JA Cook   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

I'm bothered by the nasty tone, started by Giuliani, then carried on by Palin. (via Bush's speech writer)

I have yet to know who this candidate is. She has not earned the right to mock her opponents when she has yet to utter a word of her own. She even continues to lie about her position on the bridge to nowhere and other matters.

Where was anything offered about the economy or issues? It was an insult to my intelligence and a waste of my time.

Sarah, we hardly know you!

hannah   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

Her voice and delivery probably appeals to Midwesterners, but all I hear is the woman's voice in Garrison Keillor sketches–ketchup?
Overheard in Dunkin Donuts this morning, a man said "love it when women rip men up...sexy! " Apparently all the men care about is that she's "hot." This is not helping.
Wrong woman, wrong ticket, wrong party.

Kevin Albright   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

CNN - Lay off Palin's family !!

I work for an international firm and live out of the country. After Palin’s speech my wife and I filed the paperwork for an absentee ballet and plan to vote in the next election.

CNN reporting has appeared very biased to the international audience. I have seen others turning CNN off completely and looking strictly for internet news or coverage from their own country sources, who many believe are more credible than CNN. I try to explain that the US is a free country and not controlled by its media, but not many believe me.

Sean   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

Two-faced? Her boss McCain has made some pretty big 180s on torture and health care and abortion in four years. Obama? Not so much.

They said Obama was empty rhetoric? Really? At least he's talking about issues I care about like the economy, jobs and health care. McCain and Palin didn't seem to say much at all on those issues.

Then there's the failure of the US Military in Iraq. Grandpa...you're 10 years behind on current events. Give it up old man. You crashed more planes in training than the terrorists on 9/11 and that was BEFORE you got to vietnam. Talk about an elitist.

John   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

We are talking about if Sarah Palin is ready to the next Vice -Presendent of the US. With her education and experience, we should be asking if she qualified for the White press staff.

Vicky, TN   September 4th, 2008 9:09 am ET

The only person shaking is John McCain. You can tell that he was so jealous of Barack he had to look for an immitation. It won't work. Sarah speaks to a very select few of conservative moms and that's it.

Obama/Biden 08

aschneidster   September 4th, 2008 9:08 am ET

Wow, a little testy are we?!! Sounds like she definately riled up the Dems!!

Dave   September 4th, 2008 9:08 am ET

Just like the rest of the Republicans, all she can do is attack and mock. Then again, that's all you have when you support failed policies that serve as sound bytes to your simple-minded base.

Pathetic...

Eric   September 4th, 2008 9:08 am ET

Is it only me or there are other people who were completly alarmed by the fact she and her husband would bring a small Down syndrom baby in a place like that. My brother had Down syndrom and these kids are more fragile and have a weaker defense system. I was completly appaled by that. It has nothing to do with that fact she is a woman, I think her husband is also a complete idiot, but I could not help but think this couple would do anything to get somewhere. Scary.

MLG   September 4th, 2008 9:08 am ET

She did an awesome job last nite. Lets clean house. McCain/Palin 08

Derek   September 4th, 2008 9:08 am ET

I was so angry after Sarah Palin's speech that I was shaking.

I work as a nonprofit community organizer in our nation's capital. I turned down tens of thousands of dollars in private company jobs after college because I knew that I had a duty to help others in need. I live modestly within my own means while my friends in computers and business make more than double what I make. I don't fault them for that, but I believe that there is a certain dignity attached to sacrificing of yourself to improve society as a whole.

Sarah Palin attempted to strip me of that dignity in her speech. She said people like me had no responsibilities. She insinuated that it was a fake job. She mocked the tens of thousands of people like me who believe that there is goodness in everyone if only you help those who are not in a position to help themselves.

Like I said, I don't make much money in this line of work. But you can be sure that it's going to Obama. And you can be sure all my free time will be spent in Virginia to help Obama get elected there. She thinks she's a pitbull? She hasn't seen a pitbull yet.

Last night Sarah Palin declared war on me, my belief in the common good of people, and my way of life. Sarah Palin is now fair game, and whenever anyone asks me why I'm so hard on her, I'll direct them back to this moment.

Everyone who's had enough of this type of disgusting "politics" needs to join me. If you haven't done so, NOW is the time to step away from the computer and act.

Maggie   September 4th, 2008 9:08 am ET

I think she did a good job solidifying support from the extreme far-right base.

Obama/Biden 08

Michael   September 4th, 2008 9:08 am ET

I'm a Democrat and was impressed by Palin's energy and spirit in contrast to McCain and Biden. She is the yin to Obama's yang. Whether you agree with her or not, it was refreshing. And like her, Obama has weaknesses that he has not yet realized yet. The other piece of this is that her targets (mainstream media–DC power brokers) feel wounded by her remarks. Poor babies! The MSNBC crowd didn't know what to say! Harry Reid is you know what'ing in his pants. Biden better be careful in his debates with her.

Finally, how about a world without spin for a change, letting us just make up our own minds about what people say and not telling us what to think every second. That would be democracy.

DieHard democrat   September 4th, 2008 9:08 am ET

IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT SHE SAID OR WHAT ANY REPUBLICAN HAS TO SAY.

I AM VOTING DEMOCRAT NO MATTER WHAT. WE NEED CHANGE!!!

POINT BLANK!!

Sylvia B   September 4th, 2008 9:07 am ET

Candy, Wolf and Campbell, I noticed you only have stories on Palin as lead ticker stories. No stories on what the Obama campaign said. During the coverage you have all pro-McCain stooges. Please stop calling yourselves the "most trusted news". CNN , the worst news organization in the worrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrld! You are not going to elect our president this time.

Diana Ewing NJ   September 4th, 2008 9:07 am ET

So this is the PitBull. Guess she is like John McCain.... Country First because it certainly isn't family when she puts her daughter out there for people to Judge..... you know Judge like the GOP does..

Andy   September 4th, 2008 9:07 am ET

She hit a home run last night. All I have to say to Obama is, "truth hurts." He doesn't have her experience and even if he did, he is running against McCain, not Palin.

Hannah, IL   September 4th, 2008 9:07 am ET

What does the Repuglican Party have against community organizers. They were very condescending and arrogant, and they will not win.

So while the Repugs are laughing at people who help the community, we will sail on to victory.

Sarah talked to her Evangelical audience and that's fine, but there are a whole lof of other Americans out there who she does NOT represent.

Obama/Biden 08

Stephanie Tapelt   September 4th, 2008 9:07 am ET

Last week the Democrats approached comments on Mccain and Republicans with respect and their opinions centered around business. There were a few course words made by a few but they spoke more on issues and really wanted America to enter the next presidency as a whole unit. The Republicans have proven they stand alone. I would be ashamed to say I am a republican their idea of unity leaves everyone else besides them out in the cold. The government is already huge and accusing democrats of being big government and infereing republicans are small government is a joke. I pray to God every night that Obama is president.

Paul   September 4th, 2008 9:07 am ET

My mind just went blank – when I heard the community service jibes.
I couldn't think for a few moments!
And they all jeared.

We have all looked at a show like Extreme Makeover Home Edition – and can end up in tears or been touched by it – but it's always the community who comes to help lend a hand.

We saw movies like Erin Brockovich – when people go above and beyond the call of duty – and it have been inspiring.
Then there is Carter and his Habitat for Humanity – which is all about community spirit.

Here is a woman with a disabled child – and a pregnant teenage daughter – who still sees fit to bad-mouth community work.

Peg, Canada   September 4th, 2008 9:06 am ET

Had to laugh when McCain said after her speech " don't you think we picked the right choice for VP"( or words to those effect). What?? People are suppose to know that after one speech? Hmm..now what is their talking point about Obama when it comes to speech giving and being qualified?

rachel   September 4th, 2008 9:06 am ET

Uggghhh lord knows I am not a big Obama fan, but I thew up a little yesterday watching this. There was no inspiring message about how to lift yourself up. It was all fire and brimestone, the republicans truly looked like the devil.

Greywolf   September 4th, 2008 9:06 am ET

I wander how many viewrs switched to Jon Stewart's "The daily Show" at 11 o'clock.... I did...

TESAP;SAVANNAH, GA   September 4th, 2008 9:06 am ET

YES............AIR PUNCHES........... EXACTLY WHEN WILL SHE TALK ABOUT HER QUALIFICATIONS AND FUTURE PLANS FOR THE COUNTRY???

What a joke   September 4th, 2008 9:06 am ET

I watched her speak last night.. what a mess! I thought she was overly dramatic. I do not agree with tearing down others to make your point seem more valid.. but WHAT was her point??
McCain is old as dust and she has no clue. They are not fit to run this country. If that's the case, then we might as well keep empty headed Bush in office. The blind leading the blind.

Lisa   September 4th, 2008 9:06 am ET

I found the RNC to be void of minorities and their message didn't focus on the kitchen table issues that concern me or the people of my community. Reading between the lines it was obvious the message was to secure their collective wealth. For more years of spin. I can't take it!

I found Palin to be sarcastic and condescending. Her voice is annoying and she read like she was read a bedtime story. Her Pitbull/ lipstick comment was hypocritically sexist and stereotypical of soccer moms. AND HOW DARE SHE BELITTLE COMMUNITY WORKERS WHO ARE THE FABRIC OF MOST STRONG COMMUNITIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Franky   September 4th, 2008 9:06 am ET

I swear, I don't know if its me but it seems like I still don't know nothing about this lady. So, she gave a fiery speech, huh? It sounded to me like a complain. Plus, you know what's funny?? I think I found out less about her than what I seen about her. Let alone she seems fine with her daughter being on the spotlight.

And this is the woman who is supposed to trascend politics??? Maybe she needs to get advice from Hillary...but then again, that's what they hope. So much for the Republican Vice Presidential candidate...are you sure that's what women want?? Or people in general?? Go ahead!! Be my guest. She did sounded like she didn't even know what to talk about...or let alone what to not talk about.

And she's supposed to trascend politics??? Maybe is easier said than done...

Interesting   September 4th, 2008 9:05 am ET

It was a great speech if you are a republican but as a moderate, this was a little to sarcastic and negative for my liking, also very thin on the issues

Smitty   September 4th, 2008 9:05 am ET

Evidently "Hope" is not something americans need, and we can count on the republicans to deliver us from it........

bob   September 4th, 2008 9:05 am ET

Expose Obama for what he is. NOTHING. Palin has more experience then Snobama and is more qualified to lead then he is. Please media, take the gloves off on Nobama. He has gotten a free ride so far. Please bring him to task on his anti-american wife and preacher and terrorist friend ayers. The media has spent more time on a preggy 17 year old that isn't running for office then they have investigating Nobama's sweetheart deal on his 4 MILLION DOLLAR HOME! Obama is an empty suit left wing radical that we cannot afford.

People make no sense   September 4th, 2008 9:05 am ET

I want to know, how is someone that spent his entire military life in captivity considered a war hero? Should he be a war survivor? Mrs. Palin said he was the only man to defend our freedom. How when he spent his life being tortured and beaten? How is that defending my freeedom?

Jack-Florida   September 4th, 2008 9:05 am ET

Now how come Palin can mock and insult Obama and Biden all she wants but if they do it in return, they are labeled "sexist?"
They are using Palin as a "human shield" against all criticism of the GOP ticket.
And she didn't say ANYTHING about how she and McCain plan to fix the very real crisis in America with the economy, energy, the war, education, healthcare. I didn't hear any solutions, just attacks of her opponents.
She also lied about her past experience and Obama's tax plan, AND his history in the Senate(s) (state and national)
THIS is a rising star? THIS is incredible?
What a sad statement about our country.

Greg Pottstown, Pa.   September 4th, 2008 9:04 am ET

Democrats Rule!

If you watched last night you would know that Giuliani Made it clear as day that this is a sexist game. I have heard allot of talk about Palin needing to stay home and care fore her family, she has 5 kids.Giuliani pointed out that this would never be said to a man, and he is correct.

pauline   September 4th, 2008 9:04 am ET

McIdiot & McBafoon. Pathetic Sarah. Painful Sarah. Shame to have someone like that speaking to America. It is about time, the Palins return to Alaska. She gives bad name to women.

michele   September 4th, 2008 9:03 am ET

it an insult to all community orgazer how this woman belittle all community orgazer.

Cynthia   September 4th, 2008 9:03 am ET

First off, if you come out throwing punches, you should be ready and willing to accept some. But, the first time the Obama/Biden team hit back the media will be in an uproar about it and the media would be wrong. Senator Biden should look at her as a candidate who happens to wear lipstick and treat her just like a man. I would have been more impressed with her if she had come on and told about her family and then come out swinging on the ISSUES. It looks like the McCain/Palin/RNC can do nothing but attack because they know that they will lose on the issues. I know a some community organizers who are women that will definitely be offended by what she said about community organizers.

I do hope that my comment gets posted.

CW, Springfield, IL   September 4th, 2008 9:03 am ET

SAD: Any independent/undecided voter that tuned in to the RNC's hate-fest last night would've easily recalled why they're NOT Republican. Rovian Spinology at its best – too bad for regular folks needing jobs, better wages, healthcare coverage, gas and grocery money.

FUNNY: Watching the CNN talking heads believe what they say and agreeing with each other.

Joyce Becker   September 4th, 2008 9:03 am ET

They have no new ideas or any ideas how to run this country, so they use a pit bull will lipstick to do the job, how pathetic. The idea of honoring her unwed daughter and her boy friend for another teen age pregnancy is really sickening, not my idea of family values.

OBAMA/BIDEN '08

Doug R.   September 4th, 2008 9:02 am ET

This person (Palin) has a checkered past, to say the least. She is also under investigation for ethics violations. She has been governor of Alaska for 18 months or so and received a mere 114,000 votes. Her opponent received 98,000 votes. She was mayor of a small town for a period of time. I'm wondering if she has ever travelled outside the U.S. or met with any foreign leaders?? What does she know about diplomacy?? She asked grandpa McCain what is the job of the VP. There are questions about whether she was properly vetted. In no way, shape, or form is she qualified to be VP of the United States.

henriettap   September 4th, 2008 9:02 am ET

She did not talk much of any issues that being an economy that is in the pits ,a housing crisis, health care for all, vets that are being neglected .She might be able to go out and kill and skin a moose, but what can she do if something were to happen to McCain?I don't eat moose and the I don't need the idol chatter lets hear her at the debates.

Carmon Minneapolis MN   September 4th, 2008 9:02 am ET

She was just as stiff as McCain. Her speech was horrible wasnt that the same talking points McCain has been say for months. Nothing new in that speech whatsoever.

STIFF AS A BOARD LOL.

Sharon   September 4th, 2008 9:02 am ET

Quayle must have been very proud. Take George Bush's words (same speech writers) and spout them out of a different package, they are still George Bush's policies. I understand they locked her in a room with a bunch of advisors for six hours to get her ready for this speech. Obama' speech and Bidens speech was uplifting not degrading. GO OBAMA!

Dr. Sam   September 4th, 2008 9:02 am ET

PALIN, A FOOT SOLDIER IN KARL ROVE'S DARK ARMY

After the big speech, what next? And does it (should it) matter? Palin felt able to compare her competency and background with that of Obama–a Harvard-educated lawyer chosen by his Party (not by one man) who served eight years in the Illinois Senate, is serving in the Senate as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, has managed a very successful campaign and is received enthusiastically within the United States and around the world. I can't believe it. Because Palin delivered a good speech written for her by Bush-Rove divisive dark operators, that suddenly eliminates the concern we should all have about her qualification to be a potential Commander-in-Chief? If the media caves with feelings of guilt, we are done as a democracy and the most powerful nation on earth. I don't believe the media will stop vetting Palin, nor should it stop. The office of the Vice-President is among the most important job in the land. At its best, the media stands as a sentinel of freedom.

k in Texas   September 4th, 2008 9:02 am ET

No Way, No How Can this woman and McCain run this country!!!!!! Last nights spectacle of hate mongering was disgusting and frightening.

MCAINNOW!   September 4th, 2008 9:01 am ET

Ms. Palin only says what the whole world is thinking the people of
Germany and Ireland WHERE SHE HAS BEEN knows she is a worldly woman. Motherhood is experience!!!!! Dems are so scared they attack a mother with real problems. It's the democrat permissiveness that got her daughter all pregnant and we know and we are all voting MCCain!!!!!!!

Sandi   September 4th, 2008 9:01 am ET

Beracuda huh? I thought she would atleast try to enlist my vote but she lost me by down grading community organizers. I honestly think they feel they have won my vote. Well, NOT!!!!

Steve   September 4th, 2008 9:01 am ET

Palin came out cool, calm, confident, and telling the truth in a resounding way. She was a success! If anything ,she sent the Dem.s away shreeking and shrilling. She' ll be a force to reckon with,"a pit bull with an attractive smile!"

and the world watching this too...   September 4th, 2008 9:01 am ET

I can not believe the conduct of these speakers last night ...we should no respect for other World Leaders or communities. We said we are liberating when we send our Soldiers to fight for freedom. But we act like fools constantly on world television. I just wonder if this is how the Rep will talk to world leaders when something doesn’t go there way ...name calling, racism, personal attacks etc., is this how they our teaching they children to treat others…WOW! I did not see America last night I saw a group of people in there own America, it’s so sad.

susan croci   September 4th, 2008 9:01 am ET

It's interesting to me that Gov Palin would put down Obama's experience as a community organizer while at the same time talking about her time in the PTA and as a Hockey Mom. I don't think she can have it both ways. As a woman, I was disappointed that she had make the comments she made to prove that she could fill the role of "attack dog". I've known a few Hockey Mom's in my day and I can't say I would have ever believed that was a qualification for Vice-President or President of the United States. We really don't need another "shoot from the hip" and "bring in on" type of mentality in the White House. We've had 8 years of that and again"Eight is Enough". If I see one my ad describing John McCain as a maverick I will lose my mind. People who are mavericks don't vote with George Bush over 90% of the time--and we want a thoughtful person who has the power to think critically about his decisions. The flap about McCanin's VP pick is much more about his decison making skills than about her.

Tony   September 4th, 2008 9:01 am ET

Sara Palin = hollow, inept, arrogant, condescending, sarcastic. Typical republican.

I cannot wait to see her crushed in the debates with Biden and to see both she and McCain lose in a landslide in November.

When the republicans have no positive record to run on the playbook says, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK!

Pathetic.

Did anyone else notice how bored her daughter's boyfriend looked. He wanted to be anywhere but there.

Christine   September 4th, 2008 9:01 am ET

So again, what are your credentials? Oh, I'm sorry, your running mate and his cronies can't discuss why their party has run this country into the ground on every single issue important to Average Joe America. When 45.7 million Americans don't have health care, where is your answer Palin? We are paying billions per month to stay in a country that is enjoying a huge surplus while fellow Americans are losing millions of jobs and losing their homes, where is your answer Palin? When someone's daughter, mother or niece is raped, you believe that big government should force her to give birth to a child because of your extremist religious beliefs, how is that standing up for women and mother's? Your running mate voted against giving women equal pay for equal work, how are you a female champion? YOU ARE NO HILLARY CLINTON, don't even compare yourself there isn't anything that proves to me that you are a candidate of change, you are a barbie doll who is nothing but a prop.

Hay   September 4th, 2008 9:00 am ET

I think she came off as snobbish and sarcastic. I would love to hear about the issues facing us as Americans and not always trashing the other canidates. I thought Rudy Giuliani should have been thrown out on his ear.. Awful!!! I believe Palin can run for vp and manage a family but i do feel with a 4month old special needs child she is shortchanging that child and also she has a young daughter that is pregnant who in the next few months will need her Mom maybe more than she ever has. Will she be there or will she be off on the campaign trail? I agree that the children should be kept private, but prading this pregant girl across the stage with her teenage boyfriend no less is not keeping their lives private. And I have to wonder what kind of message that send to every teenager in America , oh it no big deal to get pregant as a teenager or in McCain own word the other day, it happens all the time theres no shame in it. As a Mother of five, grandmother of 20 I beg to differ with that attitude. It can happen in any family, sure, and we continue to love them support them but we don't prarade them in front of the world.. I've voted rep for 50 years, but I cannot vote for McCain no way no how.

CLINTON – PALIN !

MS   September 4th, 2008 9:00 am ET

Perhaps I missed it, but I did not notice Sarah Palin wearing an American Flag pin during her attack on Barack at the RNC.
I did however notice another pin on her lapel that I did not recognise – maybe it blongs to the Alaskan Independence Party!

The AIP of which the Palins are so proudly affiliated has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.

Sarah Palin – "Alaska First - Alaska Always."

Dee   September 4th, 2008 9:00 am ET

Way too much attacking; however, she was trying to please the audience. Speech had no substance. She's ready for Prime Time VP slot. Palin sounds like she's talking through her nose.

T'SAH from Virginia   September 4th, 2008 9:00 am ET

THAT'S THE FIRST ROUND.... Now, since she describes herself as a "PIT BULL" – she also must realize that once a "mean" pit bull lock their jaws on an object or person – the ONLY way you can get them off is to SHOOT them or KNOCK them over the head with a BAT.

IT'S ON!!! She "sure enuf" rallied her party but she had NO PLAN – nothing came out of her as far as what she is going to do with the Economy – PERIOD!!! The REPUBS cry – "stay off her family – sexist remarks are being made about her – etc"? So what they do – make her come out as a "shrewd" – "sarcastic" – ONE of the SAME that is not attractive – and I AM A WOMAN!!!

And, I'm sorry – no one else will say it but I will – "Why in the HECK did she have that POOR baby in that room with all of that NOISE for HOURS – JEEZ!! There was NO reason for that and she could have brought him out at the END of her speech for a minute or two – OR even better – show him off camera being taken care of by a surrogate mom or something!!

LET"S GET IT ON!!! OBA-DEN 2008-2016 – YES WE CAN!!

Joseph   September 4th, 2008 9:00 am ET

Gov Palin..... are you kidding me. She showed why she's unfit to be a heart beat away from the presidency. Her remarks lacked substance and facts. She didn't touch on one single issue facing Americans. She's tool. And the fact that they are finding out why she really fired her beloved county sheriff isn't going to help her cause.

McCain Sexist   September 4th, 2008 9:00 am ET

What executive experience doe McCain have? I guess the republican should have nominated Palin instead since she has such great experience. How did the last GOP president with "executive experience" end up? Just look at your GOP poster boy Bush. Mr Executive Experience. Bush also had really high approval ratings as governor with a bipartisan approach in Texas.

McCain/Palin = Bush

No Bush 3rd term.

arc, Lugano CH   September 4th, 2008 9:00 am ET

Reform? Of what? At this point what can the GOP do but offer more pseudo stars, stripes and apple pie rhetoric during their ten-gallon Red State Nazi festival?

The blame for the failing economy, the dependence on foreign loans and oil, the quagmire of a costly and ineffective illegal war in Iraq and the irreparable damage to the position of the United States in the world falls solely on the Bush/Cheney administration, the Republican Party and its 1943-era ‘values’ voters. It’s their fault and it’s their fault alone.

Palin’s speech was devoid of any solutions, or ideas (healthcare?); just attacks and more rhetoric. All I saw on TV was salivating bloated rabid white people who won't address the issue of what their party has done to the country.

Muckinello   September 4th, 2008 8:59 am ET

CNN, how about posting also the news of the day that Sarah Palin's Alaska had the biggest EARMARKS amount pro capita? She got over 27 million of federal money for her town of Wasilla.

Among the spending projects Palin helped obtain through the earmark process: $500,000 for a youth shelter, $1.9 million for a transportation hub, $900,000 for sewer repairs and $15 million for a rail project, according to an analysis by the nonpartisan watchdog group, Taxpayers for Common Sense.

Palin, who was mayor of Wasilla from 1996 to 2002, directed the town (which then had a population under 7,000) to hire the Anchorage-based lobbying firm of Robertson, Monagle & Eastaugh (The New York Times notes that earmarks are "close to sacrosanct" in Alaska).

And during Palin's tenure as governor, Alaska requested 31 earmarks worth $197.8 million in next year's federal budget.

This is in the news... follow up please!

McCane/Palin .. the only change you get is only the gender of the VP!

I can't respect a person that comes out and start insulting another person and she does not have a clue. I am a woman and I did not like they way she carried herself last night. So what!!! I have a family too.I think it was lieberman that wrote this for her because he wanted to say more and was scared so they used her to say it. You can negotiate with a terrorist." [God's Profits: Faith, Fraud and the Republican Crusade for Values Voters, Sarah Posner]

The repubs are so boring and unoriginal.

sue calgary   September 4th, 2008 8:59 am ET

Palin's speech was downright ugly! It was negative, condescending and snide. Did anyone else notice how she kept wrinkling her nose when trying to get her point accross. That was weird. At a time when Americans are struggling under the weight of lost jobs, forecloseures high gas and commodity prices it is scary to think that such a person could be a heartbeat away from the helm. Americans please chooose wisely in November, look at her background and her positions. She lacks any kind of stateman/womanship and is frankly quite scary......

Good luck from Canada!

Hahahaha. The difference between a Republican and a pig is also Lipstick.Interesting how she went after Michelle Obama, hypocrite.

BURRO INTELIGENTE   September 4th, 2008 8:58 am ET

Her speech reminded me of an episode of WWE wrestling where people take centre stage to demoralize their opponent. The crowd responded with their signs and applause. These republicans remind american people of the bitter and unhappy americans thwey are just outrageous and ridiculous. America does not need these people

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS REALLY A JOKE THEY ARE A BUNCH OF FEARMONGERS AND VWORMONGERS.

Jan, Knoxville, TN   September 4th, 2008 8:58 am ET

Her speech was one of the most disgusting, rude, and divisive one I've heard in years. Go back to Alaska, Sarah! America has very few friends in the world due to Bush policies–can you imagine this woman trying to regain our respect with other nations–she would probably not even try and her rudeness and flippant attitude would not set well with our allies!

Rudy's speech was even worse, especially coming from a person who was too busy chasing other women besides his wife to really care for his own children.

OBAMA/BIDEN 08 – THE REAL MORALITY TEAM!

I have watched both conventions so far. I am an independent white voter. I have to say, the so far my observation of the Rep. convention is really depressing. With last week Dem. con. I felt hope. Enjoy seeing the diversity. Of course there are the obvious Dem talk. That is expected. Just as is expected on this Rep. con. But wow. Never thought is sink that low and demeaning. Major turnoff. Where is the talk of issues?

Sharon, Minnesota   September 4th, 2008 8:57 am ET

I wonder why everyone at the convention didn't put on their KKK robes. Palin's speech was designed for that group. The crowd was cheering on her lame speech. This speech was all show, no go. I was hoping she would give policy details but it's just some pointless attacks..What a way to earn my vote..

Sorry Rethuglicans but Sarah Palin is a lightweight. Even her dirty mouth can't cover up her shallowness. No programs or policy to help Americans, just the same old gutter politics. White trash is more what she reminds me of, a little lipstick on a young pig.

C. E. Pringle   September 4th, 2008 8:55 am ET

I missed most of the speech because my husband couldn't stand the voice. He said it was worse than fingernails on a chalk board. I must agree and advise Republicans to never, ever call Hillary Clinton shrill again. Clinton's voice is mellow and soothing compared to Palin's.

What I did hear (i.e. read) of her speech was clever in a very nasty sort of way, lacking in substance, and somewhat juvenile. Palin is radical and doesn't seem to understand the concept of consensus building – more of a dictator sort of leader. So, I don't believe she's capable of playing well with others to achieve her goals. Her cuteness is not going to continue to carry her very far. Beauty is skin deep but ugly goes clear to the bone.

Palin a proud Alaskan - Not a proud American   September 4th, 2008 8:55 am ET

The EXCLUSIVE run Republicans club have a real gem on their hands.

She can deliver a speech WRITTEN BY SOMEONE ELSE AND REHEARSED A DOZEN TIMES.

She lied to us at least a half dozen times last night. She has a long history deceit to advance her own career.

I look forward to all the controversy that is about to come out. There is lots of it available already including an alleged affair.

Listen to one of her own speeches in Alaska and there is no comparison to what she did last night. First blush a good sarcastic speech that those in attendance liked but I'm not so sure it went over well with the average American.

dave   September 4th, 2008 8:55 am ET

What exactly do they propose to do?! WHERE IS THE FRICKIN BEEF? If all they've got is sarcastic tirades, then I'm voting for Obama.

JB   September 4th, 2008 8:55 am ET

Wow-

The Obama hypocrites are out. They question Palin's experience claiming she has none, and yet, they can't see that their candidate who is running for President has none as well. EVEN LESS THAN PALIN.

Let me remind you, Palin is running for VP not Pres. It seems to me, if you want a less experienced person to bring "change" you would put them in the VP role, NOT PRES.

Hypocrites!!!

PS- SHRILL? Are you kidding me. Yes, that word is offensive to women. Women should be appalled!!!

Reform – having the state pay for your legal fees for abuse of power. Reform by Sarah Palin.

AHD   September 4th, 2008 8:55 am ET

This was one "emotional" outburst after another, starting with Mitt Romney. It showed me: 1. they have no discipline and 12. they have no strategy. This convention sounded more like a high school pep rally than plan for the American people. I am even more determined not to let these out of touch people near the white house.

Mike K, Phillipsburg, NJ   September 4th, 2008 8:55 am ET

Apparently flat out lies are considered by CNN to be credible attacks.

At least the AP published a list of lies and embellishments Palin spouted last night.

ss   September 4th, 2008 8:55 am ET

Republicans are circling the drains this election year.

jshannon   September 4th, 2008 8:54 am ET

The media and Obama/Biden put Palin in a defensive mode going into the speech. I don't think I saw one shred of real reporting from any network leading up to the speech. The job of the media should be to inform by subjective research. Instead they latched on to the sensationalism of her daughter's pregnancy and even the special needs son. What the "H.E. double hockey sticks" does that mean to me as a small business owner, family man and citizen? It tells me nothing about Palin and her qualifications. She couldn't control the fact that her son was born with special needs and her daughter made a "heat of the moment" decision.

If being "shrill" means stating what you stand for and living it, then this country could use a few more "shrill" people and leaders. I'm so sick of mediocrity!

BigTallMatt   September 4th, 2008 8:54 am ET

What's the difference between the Bush/Cheney administration and a potential McCain/Palin administration? Apparently the answer is also: "Lipstick".

I don't know who the GOP think they are, but after 8 years of bitter partisanship, culture warrior politics, and outright lies that have destroyed both our country's economy and standing around the world, they spend their entire convention giving us what? That's right, more bitter partisanship, culture warrior politics, and outright lies about Obama's policies (check the AP article or the Obama website for the truth). If the GOP thinks that they can use this spew to, as Romney put it, "take back Washington" (BTW, who's been in charge for the last eight years?), then they are sorely mistaken.

Rudy NYC   September 4th, 2008 8:54 am ET

Sarah, I am so sorry for you. They have thrown you under the bus named, 3rd Bush term, and you do not even realize it. Romney didn't want the VP slot because he knew that the stigma of "Bush3" will forever be attached to his reputation. I am so sorry.

Steve the Soothsayer   September 4th, 2008 8:54 am ET

If ever anyone's speech "knocked it out of the park" as they say, Sarah Palin's acceptance address fits that description as well as any. She showed herself to be human, articulate, knowledgeable and as tough as necessary. The Dems have good reason to fear her. As for the Dems describing the speech as "shrill and sarcastic", a case can be made for sarcastic, but the speech certainly was not shrill. If nothing else, the next two months promise to be interesting and exciting to those who are paying attention.

Ron   September 4th, 2008 8:54 am ET

The left wing media is dead. She said it, she meant it and that is the truth. Hillary must be so happy right now because she is going to get a chance to run in 2012. We have a winner folks.

I suggest they unleash Hillary Clinton, Kathleen Sebelious, Nancy Pelosi , and the other ladies of the Democratic Party. Go get her ladies

Beth   September 4th, 2008 8:53 am ET

Palin was disappointing. I cannot see her as America's Vice President. Her speech lacked substance.

She raised sales and grocery tax on families in Wasilla to pay for a hockey arena. That is a big ZERO in my book.

All of the Republican speeches followed the same format that they’ve used the past eight years:
1. Attack after attack with miss information.
2. The use of smoke and mirrors to cover McCain’s past.
3. No plans for a new direction and what they plan to do.
4. No stepping up to any of the past eight years of failure that McCain was apart of 90% of the time.

Ron   September 4th, 2008 8:51 am ET

I am a disappointed Republican. Last night I turned on my television hoping to see someone who was going to give me a reason to rally around my party. What I saw was a bunch of negative, divisive, childish jokes and NO ONE told me how this team was going to improve my life. I heard them slam all of the community organizers out there saying they don't have responsibilities, I heard speech after speech of them putting out personal attacks on others (which as a Christian, I feel goes against the very moral fiber they claim to be based on), and I heard NO reason to give me hope that this party is anything more than vicious attack dogs that are more defensive than they are looking forward to all that they COULD accomplish if they were focused on the future plans for our country than winning the title of "President/Vice President of the United States". I am truly saddened by what I saw last night and if McCain can't find his way out of this hole all of his other party members dug, I will not find my way back to this party anytime soon.

Democrat Abroad looking for GOP beef   September 4th, 2008 8:51 am ET

Since I'm always awaiting moderation, I thought I'd join this one, too, to be silenced once again -

Palin is on the ticket to galvanize the Far Right base which hijacked the GOP with Ralph Reid and Jerry Farwell years ago. The honorable Doles and McCains of the GOP world are afraid of them; so, in this case, McCain has tried to placate them and now has hitched his train to her agenda – which is GOP fundmentalist right, not mainstream. Thus the pick and the speech. Her speech was a sad, cynical piece of work that divides and alienates through missinformation, generalization, stereotyping, and smug grandstanding, as has become the way in the era of Rush Limbaugh/Karl Rove.

Democrat Abroad looking for GOP beef September 4th, 2008 1:34 am ET
Your comment is awaiting moderation.
David – This team has marginal appeal in the suburbs. The Palin pick was a hasty stab at galvanizing a base that was adrift and hadn't fully warmed up to their candidate. Now, the "maverick" has sold his soul to Palin's agenda or else it will appear he lacked good judgement in picking her – Catch 22.

Obama's message: Bring both parties together to solve this nation's problems. Use alternative energy to break our dependence on foreign oil and create domestic jobs that cannot be exported.

Republicans' message: The country is divided into them (liberals) and us (conservatives). We're right and they're wrong. Why talk about solutions to problems when this nation's problems are all in your heads? We'll make our party look better by making you fear the other party.

Which message appeals to you?

Any decent citizen has to get involved this year to stop the republicans. I don't know what's wrong with the analysts on tv, on every blog people are saying Palin's speech was despicable, full of contempt and empty on substance, but your experts found qualities in a woman reading carefully a speech with the same themes from the 90ies. She even went after Michelle Obama, after Barack defended her. OMG, what a complete white trash.

New York   September 4th, 2008 8:49 am ET

The speech was garbage. It is so clear that the Republicans are so intimidated by Barack Obama. When people get intimidated by you they attack attack attack. Instead of telling us who she is or what she stands for (besides what we have heard all weekend), attacked. Community Organizers should be offended by her statement. She thought she was taking a jab at Obama but she offended the very people who help hold the community together. Whether she realizes it or not politicians can't do it alone. You need strong people in the community to bring issues to the forefront. I am just so disgusted by this speech. I can't say that I don't like her because that speech was clearly written, and those might not even be her true views. I just feel that that speech did nothing more but prove that Obama is the better candidate. The Republicans are immature and they need to grow up! Obama is making them look like idiots right now. You can tell that they are running scared!! Go Obama. Keep taking the high road all the way to the White House.

You know the old sasying...you can lead a republican to prosperity but you can't make him drink. Now I love Wolf and Anderson, but what part of that speech did you get out of it that would leave you with the impression "A Star is Born"? We all would really like to know....

1. She gave no clear concise answer to the following:
Health Care, The Economy, Energy, Education...she pretty much gave us no clue at all how they plan to proceded. But what they did give you was: Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama... there was nothing in that speech other than attack Obama and that goes for most of the speakers last night. Are they that scared of Obama? I guess they should be since he is the most brilliant politican since Kennedy.

So please CNN crew...tell us what was so great about a speech that she did not write herself, that was full of fear and hate mongering..and offered no proposals for the future. Obama wrote his own speech and then delivered it masterfully.....where was her own speech?

Palin speech owes a kudos to the speechwriters. But it doesn't mention anythig about specifc remedies facing our country. There are many flubs, for example, the muslum world will not take to kindly to Palins "crusade" mentallity about the war. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God." This is detrmental to our standing in the arab world. I fear this mentality would only lessen the idea of why we are in Iraq, and reinforces the jihids resolve when it put in these terms.......Bad Move.

For the love of people   September 4th, 2008 8:48 am ET

I was and am deeply offended by Gov. Palin's speech. Here all eyes were on her and she could have delivered something that will comfort the America people about where our country will go. Instead, she degrades herself not Obama and present herself as the attack dog of the Good Ole Boys Club. Before the speech had a slim amount of respect for her, after the speech I would not vote for MCCain or her if they give me a million bucks. She was rude, definitely not a lady. I support Obama but she can't hold a candle to Hillary. Hillary has more integrity in her pinkie finger than in Sarah's whole existence. I am a woman, an American woman, and you will and could not ever earn my vote.

I pray that American will wake up and not be fooled by this below the belt, offensive, no merit, arrogant along with ignorant tactics.

Both recent political conventions confirm the fact that we need another political party in this country. If they are looking down on this group, the Founding Fathers must be turning in their graves.

RJ   September 4th, 2008 8:47 am ET

I must have been asleep for the past several years. Could someone tell me when the religious right went from condemning adultery to now closing their eyes to it. When did they go from condemning pre-marital or out of wedlock sex to now glamorizing it.

i can't help but wonder how many 18 y/o boys found that levi's instant celebrity status doesn't want to make them go out and impregnate a 17 y/o girl to make her an instant saint. Who is going to take care of all the 17 y/o girls who now see this as something that's cool, good to do–embraced by the religious right? Where have the values gone? Isn't it the democrats who are supposed to be reckless about sex?

P.S....how many days has it been now since Sarah Palin visited Iraq??

Jeronimo!   September 4th, 2008 8:47 am ET

Only in the republican party could impudence and insulence be considered virtues worthy of the next VP. What a joke! I can't wait till the VP debates....

MY   September 4th, 2008 8:47 am ET

He might be all these things, but he is running for PRESIDENT NOT VP, witch how the votes add up on November 4th and it good you know how to dress a moose because that's what you will be doing. Then you can add that to you resume. Where I come we think of hockey and something bad.

Elizabeth in Texas   September 4th, 2008 8:47 am ET

Palin was disappointing. I cannot see her as America's Vice President. Her speech lacked substance. She raised sales and grocery tax on families in Wasilla to pay for a hockey arena. That is a big ZERO in my book.

Palin was demeaning. I am a social services worker and let me tell you, organizations like the Salvation Army, Red Cross, Urban League, etc. keep urban and rural communities from falling apart and for her to dimish them as nothing is ridiculous.

Guiliani sure didn't mind organizers when he came to helping out people afer 9/11. These people are so out of touch is makes me angry.

Palin used her children for political gain all the while Biden's son is also leaving for Iraq this fall, but he isn't pimping that out for votes.
I am a strong working woman and Palin disturbs me more than McCain.
Thank you CNN for being fair, but I had to state my opinion! Hope you post this! =)

Carla   September 4th, 2008 8:46 am ET

What about the ISSUES????

Attack Attack Attack,
POW POW POW
Country First, Country First, Country First

But HOW is McCain/Palin going to lift this country from the sinking hole it's in, thanks to Bush and the Republicans.
If McCain proposals are not the continuation of Bush's policies, explain HOW are they different?
All we know is that McCain voted 90% of the time with Bush, and that Palin is a far right conservative (divisive as Bush).

Frank   September 4th, 2008 8:46 am ET

I think Palin is intoxicated by her own "Lipstick". It must have gotten to the place where we should normally find a brain. The new theme of this election is not economy, it's about lipstick. This is so irrelevantly weak, even coming from her, but then again, she is a republican.

Lisa M   September 4th, 2008 8:46 am ET

Look who's saying inexperienced.

I love the religious right. You can't get much more two faced than that. They prefer to persecute those who do not agree with them rather than using gentle teaching as was Christ's way.

She isn't even a good mother much less a good candidate.

McCain is not young. If something happened she would be the "head of the free world".

Reid's spokesperson is correct. She is shrill and sarcastic.

No vote for her from me.

lets get ready to rummmmmble   September 4th, 2008 8:46 am ET

Sounds like Sarah hit a nerve with Obama supporters... Gotta love it.

McCain-Palin = 3rd and 4th term of Bush Policies   September 4th, 2008 8:45 am ET

I'm still wiping off what seems like shards of hate clinging to my eyes from last night's RNC coverage. I have never seen such a group exuding that amount of hate in my life. The whole evening seemed incredibly DIVISIVE for the Republicans. They probably did motivate the very far right base, but they also drew a hard and fast line at that point – far right here, everyone else isn't included. They even went so far as to call people names that didn't make their cut. If they ever wanted any votes for people that ever considered themselves Democrats or Independents, they cut off that arm that could reach out for these votes last night. Here was their decision for last night – forego the substance, draw the line of exclusivity, and fill up the night with slurs and insults. What ugly, ugly people they were!

Tiffany   September 4th, 2008 8:45 am ET

I was highly insulted as a woman with this speech. She is supposed to be making history, but she didn't have to tear down everyone else doing it. I thought she was divisive and cold. She is not a person I would want to see in the White House. I also think she is crying wolf with the sexism charges. She obviously has no problem dishing it out, but can't take the heat herself.

S.A.M. from Virginia   September 4th, 2008 8:45 am ET

She did a sub par performance. Maybe the republicans can sound more believable if it wasn't so obvious that their prime time speaker has to read from a teleprompter. I wondder which aide wrote that speech for her.

OBAMA/BIDEN 08

Not Swaying anymore!   September 4th, 2008 8:45 am ET

"Sarah Buffoon" is more like it....

What a DRAMA QUEEN!

Stew Smith   September 4th, 2008 8:45 am ET

I am very angry at what I saw last night and deeply offended. I am ready to do whatever is needed to make this a landslide election and referrendum on the Republicans and there mioptic view of the World.

No more playing nice I'm ready!!

JIM...TX   September 4th, 2008 8:44 am ET

Too bad this speech wasn't her's an not some slime written by McCains handlers. Would be nice to know and hear HER opinions on matters, not some Republican talking heads. But I guess since she's been lead down the rose colored pathway and USED by McCain this is to be expected.

From Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Monroe, and Lincoln, to McCain, Palin, Obama, and Biden – We are in big trouble in this country !!

sacto joe   September 4th, 2008 8:44 am ET

Arrogant to the point of being snide. That's my take on Governor Palin's speech last night. Compared to both Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton in their convention speeches, she was a distant third.

But the arrogance is particularly disturbing. We've seen it so many times before with the Bush administration. That's what got us into the Iraq war, and that's what made it such a disaster.

Haven't we had enough of arrogance? If I have respect for Senators McCain, Obama and Biden for anything, it's for their humility.

Rob   September 4th, 2008 8:44 am ET

This would have been a great opportunity to hear Palin's views on Healthcare. She has a special needs child, and a pregnant daughter without insurance of her own. I've only heard a few clips of McCain's healthcare position. Some sort of cost control will somehow make things better?! (for patients or doctors or insurance industry profits?) Maybe the hockey mom can get McCain to put a little more meat on that bone, instead of throwing meat to the Republican convention floor.

So Right   September 4th, 2008 8:43 am ET

She rocked, and the Dems know it! Dems are shaking in their boots.

John in Ohio   September 4th, 2008 8:43 am ET

When you don't have any new ideas, attack your opponent. It's the time-honored Republican strategy.

Her speech mocked people who get involved in their community and it mocked Washington insiders... who does that leave?

Democrats Rule!   September 4th, 2008 8:43 am ET

Well then, she can take the licks like a pit-bull. I better not hear their camp screaming sexism when the attacks are reversed.

Enlightened Voter   September 4th, 2008 8:42 am ET

Only in a Repuglican America is a black man who is a Harvard Educated Constitutional Scholar, with 8yrs as State Senator and 4 yrs as US Senator and member of the Foreign Relations Committe deemed never ready to lead yet a white evangelical ultra conservative woman, with 19 mos as Governor of Alaska and a Bachelor of Journalism considered ready on day one..
It is disgusting. I thought john mccain was scary, hower palin frightens me!

ANGIE   September 4th, 2008 8:42 am ET

Well lets just hope obama and biden throw the punches right back i know obama and biden have respect for woman but she wants to step up to the position of a man than she better take it like a man TIME IS NOW FOR OBAMA AND BIDEN TO FIGHT BACK!!! OBAMA/BIDEN08

Not Swaying anymore!   September 4th, 2008 8:42 am ET

Sarah Bah-foon is the name she earned last night.

What a DRAMA QUEEN!

Sarah   September 4th, 2008 8:41 am ET

Oh, how cute. She's such a big fan of her new boss that she's even recycling his old, sexist jokes.

Not Swaying anymore!   September 4th, 2008 8:41 am ET
