The Obama campaign is pulling in cash following Palin's speech.

(CNN) – Barack Obama's campaign says it has raised more than $8 million from over 130,000 donors following Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin's speech Wednesday night.

The campaign also says it is on track to raise $10 million before John McCain takes the podium at the Republican National Convention tonight.

I think its funny that republicans are casting now casting their candidate…oops vice-candidate into the messiah role. Please chew on this:
—Palin has raised taxes many times and took her beautiful little Alaskan town from a balanced budget to 22 million in debt. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0808/12987.html
—She didn’t build the bridge to nowhere but she sure took its money, and asked for more. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2008154532_webpalin02m.html
—She actually implemented a windfall profit tax exactly as senator Obama suggested a couple months ago… and look how the reds chastised him for it. http://thinkprogress.org/wonkroom/2008/08/30/palin-raised-taxes-on-oil-company-profits-to-give-citizens-an-equitable-share-will-mccain/
–Yes her family is off limits, and it appears she wants to put all family off limits by cutting funds for, ironically, teen moms http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Palin_cut_1.1_million_from_funding_0902.html

PS: Some use change to further a career. Some use a career to further change. Great Line.

Too bad she didn't write it. The speech was written by a former Bush speech writer. In fact it was written before she was even selected as the VP nominee. So much for not the same old Washington. But, as you proved, you can fool some of the people all of the time

Tara   September 4th, 2008 6:03 pm ET

Kellie   September 4th, 2008 6:02 pm ET

This is why he will be the next President of the United States:

"They're talking about the three years of work that I did right out of college, as if I'm making the leap from two or three years out of college into the presidency. I would argue that doing work in the community, to try to create jobs, to bring people together, to rejuvenate communities that have fallen on hard times, to set up job training programs in areas that have been hard hit when the steel plants closed, that that's relevant only in understanding where I'm coming from. Who I believe in. Who I'm fighting for. And why I'm in this race. And the question I have for them is, why would that kind of work be ridiculous? Who are they fighting for? What are they advocating for? They think the lives of those folks who are struggling each and every day, that working with them to try to improve their lives, is somehow not relevant to the presidency? Maybe that's the problem."

Dem from VA   September 4th, 2008 6:02 pm ET

It will be truly entertaining when Palin crashes-and-burns in about three weeks, once the real journalists come out of the woodwork and start vetting her qualifications: That's when the REAL Palin bio will come to light. TrooperGate; her vocal support of the Bridge-to-Nowhere; paying Washington lobbyists to secure earmarks for Wasilla (she's apparently as fond of pork as she is of moose meat); delaring the War in Iraq a Holy War for Christianity and "God's will"; raising taxes and public debt (where once there was none) on the 6,000 residents of Wasilla; and leaving a trail of bodies in the wake of her insatiable ambition: Even the starry eyed GOP delegates will realize that McSame made a fatal blunder in choosing Sarah Palin as her running mate. I relish the thought of Obama/Biden t.v. ads featuring Rudy, Mitt, Mike, and McShame clips from their Convention, praising Palin's credentials, after she's been thoroughly discredited and forced to withdraw from the McStain ticket. BTW, pitt bulls everywhere should be offended by her comparison.

ross berg   September 4th, 2008 6:01 pm ET

As a lifelong republican I must say that McCains pick for the VP spot has certainly killed any small chance he might have had of winning.

And it turns out that the facts show that in a numberr of meetings in 2006-2007 Palin is heard thanking different State and Federal legislators for getting different ear-marks for Alaska AND the facts are that the "bridge to nowhere" funds were NOT returned to Washington but spent on other projects in Alaska.

Too bad that as it turns out she's just another typical pol!! Shame!!

John from Illinois   September 4th, 2008 6:01 pm ET

I'm Republican. I'm White. And to Barack Obama, goes the checks I write! GoBama! The Bush presidency ends now. Enough! Palin was lame attempt to pull in the Hillary holdouts. Doesn't matter. Come Nov. 4th, Barack Obama will be our next President. Power to the people baby!

Rick K   September 4th, 2008 6:00 pm ET

Obama has given people a way to fight back against this pettiness and fear mongering.

Donating is just part of the equation.

I've never seen people paying so much attention – organizing, debating, sharing, canvasing, registering. The repubs had a chance this week to explain their vision for the nation we share.

Their answer so far is motivating all right. We now have a new angry, mediocre, dismissive, insulting face plugged into the Rove machine.

Sad thing is, I don't see the same thing when I see Jindal and Pawlenty speaking. Perhaps it will be left to them to reinvent the republican brand – but this country really needs to send a message to this current group of hate-mongers.

I was very disappointed in Giuliani's ignorant speech. Especially coming from a pro-choice, anti-gun, very moderate Republican. He should know better.

The only speech I liked was Huckabee – and I've always thought he was a gracious person. He's just so likeable. (common sense would've told the Republicans to choose him… )

So, you guys are proud that in a time where you can barely fill your tank and feed your family, and are lucky if youre not losing your house, that youre throwing your money away on greedy, lying, arrogant, just-a-nother politicians? They have millions and millions and millions of dollars! Stop being puppets please. Obama is no better than any other slimey political suit thats ever crawled the streets of Washington. Donating your petty $50? For what? Another ad from Obama that promises upon his election the world will be all marshmallows and rainbows? Here's a suggestion, live within your means and learn that desire is the root of all unhappiness and unrest. Go Buddhists!

I respect Palin for where she is at in her career and I listened to her speech as I felt it was my duty to give her a chance.

She's an okay speaker, although there was no substance in her speech.

Totally recommend she keep her "day" job and/or look for other career options. Maybe the door is open for her to go back to TV?

How can any intelligent Hillary support vote for Palin? If I were Hillary, I would be offended by the idea that Palin is her equal. If she and McCain win this election she better be her equal or the country is doomed.

Ladies, consider this. Palin and McCain get into power. It is an abysmal failure. It will set woman power back decades. It happened in Canada when they elected Kim Campbell. And believe me Palin is no Angela Merkel!!!

Come to your senses and vote for the party and people who can change what is going on in this country.

jack   September 4th, 2008 5:57 pm ET

Let's face it most white (and some non-white) Republicans and Democrats against Obama have two fears…that if Obama is President he will 1). enslave the whites in this country as were done by whites to blacks and 2.) appropriate the women. The vanquished becoming the victors syndrome. That's the real fear of racists. This means giving up all the goodies of being 'entitled' as awhite person. The time worn U.S. mantra that the most unqualified, base, uneducated, ignorant, white person is far better than the most qualified person non-white. That's a hard habit to break. It's in the DNA of this country and easily transferred to everyone as long as they're not black.

Tutti   September 4th, 2008 5:57 pm ET

I listened with an open mind last night and felt disgusted after her speech. Though I reached my personal budget for donating to Obama over the last 6 months, I couldn't resist sending another $40 after hearing that woman. She should be ashamed of herself on so many levels.

Obama never said a word about her, until she started trashing him. He's been very gratious towards her. But I guess another lie doesn't matter. Think about it PUMA, vote Palin in now and give her that extra edge she needs to beat Hillary in 2012, real smart strategy there.

I'm not surprised. Once again the RNC offers up one divisive 'Us vs. Them' speech after another while they whip their attendess into a hate-filled frenzy. When they started the "Drill Baby Drill" chant last night I felt like I was looking in on some kind of a fanatical cult.

They somehow seem to forget that the 'them' they criticize so vehemently make up more that half of the electorate.

They talk a big talk but they don't really say much but, "We're right, they're wrong" although they don't back that up with any facts.

I hope we show up at the polls in big enough numbers this time to put a stop to this at least til 2012 when unfortunately it will start all over again.

Wonderful! Having never contributed to a campaign, my wife and I contributed three or four tiimes during the primary and since he won the primary we were leaving the main election to the big guys and their big bucks, but I guess we little guys will have to get back in there again to prevent this "hypocritical mismatched alliance" from going to the White House.

An aside, I cannot believe that Dr. Dobson sanctioned Sarah Palin to be a candidate with so many personal family issues for VP and the pregnant daughter on stage with her boyfriend….what message is America sending to the youth of America and the world.

Andy in Seattle   September 4th, 2008 5:55 pm ET

I was one of them as well. GOP is divisive and shows no respect. They are arrogant and won't own up to their mistakes. They don't even talk about the issues hurting Americans the most. No plan on the economy, no energy plan, no support of equal rights, no upholding separation of church and state. The list goes on.

Black republicans don't have to vote for Barack, although it would be nice. Instead they can just recognize the fact that this man is going to make history, and already has.

Speaking of black, was there a black-out at the Repug Convention last night. Oh, I think tonight they're going to have someone sing, you know blacks are always good for entertainment, they think.

No not foreign funds… I am an American, my husband works for an American owned and operated company, and I am a SAHM mom and I donated to Obama's fund after watching Palin. And no we can't buy our way into the White House but it just goes to show how much support Obama has. It will be a sad day if McCain/Palin is elected into office. I don't need religion running my country anymore than the middle east needs it in theirs.

Thank God! there's a public consciousness out there that is Proactive and it says "Hell no. We won't take it anymore" . The Democrats and independents are startled enough by the Republican hate speech to react not just with words but with money.
Palin's speech was devoid of ideas and full of contemptuous and self righteous innuendo (typical Republlican blather) but it represented no solutions. If all the Republicans have to offer is divisiveness and haughtiness they will fail to gather the independent thinking voters who are going to tip this election in Obama's favor. I, for one, have had it with the Republican BS of the last 8 years…. Like Barry says "We're Better Than This"!

Iowa for Obama   September 4th, 2008 5:54 pm ET

I gave my little pittance, $25, to Obama last night. It doesn't sound like much, but when you add that to the $25 all my friends gave, and the $25 my sister and each of my two brothers gave, and the $25 all their friends gave, it starts to add up to a bit of money. Many, MANY people have were turned off by the sarcasm and nastiness of the RNC last night.

I read the headlines. So what's the fricking point? If folks have decided to give money to Obama, for whatever reason, go ahead. If he's elected, you might be used to giving him money by then, as he'll continue to get more and more from you in taxes. All those programs he professes are great, but where in the hell do you think he'll get the money to pay for them? Don't believe it? Just wait and see. Put aside your Democrat or Republican leanings and strip away the topical veneer of his plan. It will cost lots and lots and lots of money and he's not going to get it from the rich folks. Wake up folks or reap what you sow.

I gave $100 on Monday and another $100 this morning after wallowing in Rove's bile. So, I'm pleased that so many others saw fit to pony up as well.

And while all this money was flowing OB's way, the Dow took it in the shorts 325 points at closing. I guess The Street weighed in on Palin and didn't like what they saw, either.

Yeah, Sarah, keep showing your well-filed teeth!

David   September 4th, 2008 5:51 pm ET

It was sickening to watch as Palin was "hoed out" by the GOP last night. You could definitely hear the Karl Rove venom being spewed out of what seemed to be just a pretty puppet. Rather than selling herself on her own merits as I'm sure she was capable of doing she was "sold out" by her party. The acerbic one-liners played well to the "rank and vile" Republicans but will surely cost them in Nov. The voters want and deserve better!

Teddy California   September 4th, 2008 5:51 pm ET

It seems McCain's campain strategy is to use Palin to rally the base (raise money too), speak to small town and blue collar workers. She will serve as the attack dog against Obama. It seems she is a very good attack dog, shooting at you while smiling at you.

In the meantime, McCain will then try to attract the independents and moderates and try to be less partisan and try to outline his vision for the future. You will find out that today and in the future soon. It will free McCain from the attacking dog role.

But it may not work because the media and maybe even common people are more interested in listening to Palin than McCain.

This Tina Fey lookalike Rove in drag hit it out of the ballpark last night – if the task was to deliver teleprompter lines in the impeccable manner of a Fox news anchor to an adoring audience of low-IQ drones. Her jabs and almost pathologic sneer-with-a-smile delivery put the ‘palin’ in ‘appalling’ – with a missing piece, fittingly.

susie   September 4th, 2008 5:51 pm ET

Obama and the Democrats keep talking about how they are going to have affordable health insurance, college tutition, etc. WHY??? With the way the public is donating to his campaign, apparently, our economy is not that bad. People can afford to send money, lots of money, why does Obama need to give all these affordable services to the people. Why does he talk so much about the economy when it is apparent there is no problem? With this big boost in campaign funds, a majority of people have more money than they need.

Jude, Boca, FL   September 4th, 2008 5:51 pm ET

Marjorie Helms, Amherst, NY   September 4th, 2008 5:50 pm ET

Keep it coming, Palin! The anger and bile of your speech was a welcome change from the typical smarmy smile the Republicans have been getting from McSame. By directly attacking Obama, she's making it clear that the Republican party has no faith in its candidate for president. Palin will accomplish nothing other than to enrage and awaken more Democrats (as if King George hasn't done that already). For such an inexperienced politician, she doesn't seem to realize where her 'pit-bull mouth' is going to take her. When the debates finally roll around, Biden will absolutely destroy her on national and international issues!

So, remember to renew your moose hunting license, Palin – you're going to need it again this winter while you're recovering from the Democratic landslide!…..

The Republican convention has been quite effective at rallying the Republican base and showing hardcore conservatives that McCain and Palin are the candidates for them.

Unfortunately for them, they've done an equally good job at insulting and alienating left-leaning independents (like myself) and open-minded democrats, who want to hear something more substantive than repeated statements about how much they love America and hate liberals. (And liberal media bias?? Oh please, can someone in the media call them on that BS and request some of the Republican commentators to substantiate it with something other than anecdotes? It is a statistical fact that Obama has had far more negative media coverage than McCain.)

Texans for Obama   September 4th, 2008 5:49 pm ET

I am not surprised. He is going to raise more than that when old man McCain speaks tonight.

I am so tired of negative attacks, and no solutions by the Republican's. This woman who is hardly known can energize this geriatric base I saw last night at the convention with that one speech.
All of the Republican's have no life. They were a bunch of old geezers, with a sprinkle of young people and maybe 20 black folks in the crowd.
How sad that appeared to the TV audience, that there is no diversity that represents the real America

I am a toastmaster, and the delivery was okay but it lacked the subtance. A bunch of negative attacks and that was it. To me she looked like a puppet.

As a parent who has raised 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls) and a handicapped grandson since he was 8 months old, I personally feel that any one with a special needs child, should be there to give the child the love and care, and that is the responsibility of a mother. Not Nanny, babysitter, nurse, etc.

Also, where was Palin for the last five months not to notice that her daughter was late with her cycle. Was her responsibilities more important and took to much of her time not to notice that her daughter was gaining weight. It was obvious that something was wrong with her daughter when she was holding the baby's blanket over her stomach.

This is the first time I've ever given money to a candidate. Donated last week and donated again last night. Palin is a bible-wielding attack dog and the majority of Americans, even those who identify as Christians, don't want such an extremist informing national policy.

While I disagree with her tone and manner and think her utter lack of substance was completely transparent, she did a great job appealing to the same corner-bar cronies that won George Bush the white house 4 years ago. We cannot let that happen again. If she had been a wimpy speaker, we'd all be relaxing today and Obama would not be raking it in. But we have no room to relax yet. Palin wants a good fight, and the money we're throwing at Obama is to make sure she gets it.

Another Ex-Republican for Obama   September 4th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

I am a Republican voting for Obama. I am repulsed and ashamed at what has become of my party. We used to be fiscally conservative, socially conservative, and strong on freedom and rights, low on government programs.

Now under our leadership we have destroyed the economy, borrowing money from China to pay for Oil from the Middle East, and who pays the interest? My kids and grandkids. We've approved so much government pork and programs we look like flaming liberals from the 70's (sorry guys, had to say it). We started an unjustified war and lied to everyone about it, and still lie about it. We've violated the freedoms and protections afforded to us by the Constitution. We've resorted to political trickery by pandering to woman with Palin on the ticket. And now we conduct an entire convention around slamming our opponent and his wife – no ideas, no plans, no vision to move things forward, just a lot of whining about Barack and Michelle.

This is not the Republican party I want to be a part of. I'd be voting for Ron Paul if he had any shot in the world, however the only way to fix my party is to cut out the disease and get back to principals. I'm voting for Barack Obama, and hope that he doesn't to too much damage in the next 4 years while we re-vamp ourselves and find our roots.

No time to lose!   September 4th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

I'll pay extra taxes just to keep McCane and Palin out!

Typical White Person   September 4th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

omg – Blitzer is now reporting Obama talking points in fundraising letters as news!

Pa-leeze! Will someone please do a documentary on the press and their jr. high crush on Obama?

And did he ever have any girlfriends before Michelle?

Give me a break   September 4th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

Hey "Steve" – I heard Obama was a Muslim too. Unless you hear it in person or see a video of her saying it, keep your pie hole shut. Crap like that doesn't help this country!

Cathy in MD   September 4th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

Fantastic!!!!! Just as I anticipated. The reason: Most intelligent, patriotic Americans know a pit bull in lipstick when they see one. And a pit bull in lipstick does not a great Vice President make.

Bob   September 4th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

You all need to see the videos of the aerial wolf shots from alaska. Cruel. She supported this. Anyone that supports this should be jailed.
No matter how the repubs spin her, she is as cruel as Cheney.

soccermom2009   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

I'm so glad. Last night I was very worried after the freak show they call the speech. It will be more of the rotten lousy goverment if McSame and the evil queen win. Palin is absolutely a hateful person, I don't see how she would ever bring this country together on any issue.. It's her way or you can get fired. GOP = Grand OLD PEOPLE. They should call it GOWPO = GRAND OLD WHITE PEOPLE ONLY. I was a Hillary supporter, but last night, after Palin spoke, I gave to Obama!!!

Jim, Minneapolis   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

I was one of the people who sent him money (I've been donating for 12 months now). I can't wait until these GOP rich white old oligarchy get out of my hometown. Good riddance. I will keep sending money to Obama. Nothing Palin can read off of a telepromter written by some Bush speechwriter will change the fact that her policies stink. I'm voting Obama!

Christina   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

I just donated for the 3rd time, am an Independent registered voter, and I've never given money to a Presidential campaign or officially endorsed a presidential candidate before in my entire life. I only wish I could afford to give more. The more I learn about Sarah Palin the more frightened I am, and her speech made me more determined than ever to get Obama elected!

Dian   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

I donated too. I agree with a previous poster…. The GOP has this thing like it's a joke…. "Let's see if we can pull it off". They think the American public is too stupid to realize that they are worthless old fa*ts!

Brian   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

Dropping $25 on Obama was like taking an Alka-Seltzer after listening to Palin last night.

DrMan   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

So how much did she raise for Republicans? The only reason they contributed was her speech was so great, they got scared.

Jordan   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

Does Palin know that Jesus was an organizer and Pontius Pilate was a Governor?

I bet that if Jesus was here today she would have crucified right back on the cross. Oh yeah, she just did last night in her speech. Good going!

Terry   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

Whats wrong Obama people did Palin hurt your feelings!!!!!!!

I Love It

Richard   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

First donation to Obama: $10
Second donation to Obama: $10
Pepto Bismol and Gas-X after watching Palin's speech: $12.39

Obama and Biden as next President and VP: Priceless!

Sarah Bell, Cleveland OH   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

I gave one hundred dollars to Obama last night. Can't really afford it, but definitely can't afford one single day of more McBush/Cheney with lipstick. I must have accidently clicked twice or something because it charged me 200 dollars. I thought about clearing that up, but I thought about all the rich white people who probably will give to McCain after hearing Palin scare them away from the black guy.

Unbelievable!   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

I LOVE it… I gave earlier today and I'm glad to know that others were moved to do so as well:)!

Jimmy O   September 4th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

just gave another $50 to Obama/Biden. Thanks for the venom Sarah Palin!

Cameron   September 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

Thank you for Palin, John McCain!

HA! HA! HA! HA!

Frances   September 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

Wow a female Cheney, divisive, he also liked hunting too. DUCK!!!!

FromSanJose   September 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

After Palin speech, MaCain/Palin ticket looks as scare as Bush and we know where Bush took this country to … a world's laughing target and deep in debt. We may not know where Obama will take us to, but I am sure it will not be as divided as today. If you bothered to listen to Obama on DNC, he reaches out and try to find a middle ground for us … reduce unwanted pregnancy, don't let AK14 fall into the hand of criminals. Even if you are pro-life or against gun-control, how can you say no to these. They make sense and is the only way to unite this country which we desperately need to make US strong again.

I donated to Obama right after Palin speech, this is the first time I did so and is how strong I felt that we must do something to bring this country to a united country and be able to lead again.

Mama T   September 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

Great Minds and all that. I too donated money to Obama's campaign this morning.

Robert Wooller from Bradford, England, UK   September 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

This is absolutely great news and I want to thank all those who donated to the Obama campaign. It shows that there heart and their wallets are in the right place. More importantly, it shows that they don't want four more years of suffering under the iron grip of McBush.

Debby   September 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

No wonder the economy is bad its all going into Obama's campaign. Then he preach's bad economy and you cult followers keep giving how dumb. hahaha

donna   September 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

when will the republicans realize that times have changed, it is time for diplomacy; I would rather have someone like Sen. Obama who realizes this than someone like Sen. McCain- his attitude about Iraq is frightening – it will be another Viet Nam – our military dying for another country that was not at war with us and was not apart of the terrorism of September 11.

Mark Kahle   September 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

RJ, CA – You can donate all you want to McCain, after last night when he was officially nominated, he can't accept your money, oh too bad so sorry…he is already taking 85 million from all taxpayers, and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth…

guess I will have to courteract that and go make another donation of $250 bucks to Barack's campaign…heck I may even make one for my wife as well, and double it…lol…

I am not hearing enough about Giuliani's disgusting speech. It's making me mad. Mocking volunteers?! Telling us that more important than the economy is keeping us on the OFFENSE militarily?! My God, I am shivering at the thought of the GOP winning in Nov.

Jim Kap   September 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

I gave $250 ten minutes after her speech. And we are moving in October, but I made sure to register to vote at my new address. Palin told the rightwingnuts what they wanted to hear….but she fired up any of us who were apathetic to support Obama-Biden 100%.

smokesignals   September 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

Obama/Biden ticket didn't trash her.
She trashed herself.

This is great! McCain couldn't have done us a bigger favor.

Go Obama!

Money Where The Mouth Is   September 4th, 2008 5:45 pm ET

The people speak so loudly when they speak with hard earned cash during a BAD BAD time in our economy. What a sacrifice. This is done in $10 and $25 donations.

The people are not just speaking, they are acting.

We can change. Now is the time.

Unite us Republican, Unite us Democrat.

Unite us, we are all American's.

"You are the change you seek" – Obama

Say no to OBAMA-BIN-LADIN ohh i mean obama /biden

Lou H   September 4th, 2008 5:45 pm ET

Yes, giving to Obama is the reaction that comes from 'hitting someone hard'.

If Palin had offered up something constructive, something to give to, a bridge to the future…then she would be pulling in money.

Pro-America   September 4th, 2008 5:45 pm ET

Why do you all beleive so much in Biden and Obama?

What attracts you to them?

A different Washington? Biden has been in Washington for over 20 years and has played the game and is nothing more than a liberal arrogant jerk.

Obama lacks anything in my book that says he is qualified more so than Palin, even though she is running for VP.

What will Obama do for out nation?
Healthcare that will make takes go up?
Not explore for more oil in our country which will do nothing to help our gas prices go down?
Infringe upon our second amendment rights?

End the war? This has me split, the war that is. Statistics show that causualties are way down….and violence as well. It is expensive, but imagine how much worse it could be if we pulled out? Bring our boys home? I am going to join the military soon, and that is what you join the military for to serve our country. It is a volunteer military…so it was their choice.

God bless America.

Biden and Obama will do nothing but move out nation toward a Socialist nation.

I am 1 in 130,000. I am one in 2,000,000.

I am one of many who SUPPORT BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
I really like saying that and typing it!

We must also focus on getting more Senate seats for Democrats. Obama can't do this by himself he will need us and the party in the proper place in order to get things done.

Can you tell I'm serious about this?

Debra   September 4th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

I must admit, last night I jumped online and made more donations to Obama, the DNCC and the DNC as well. After listening to last night's hate-and-lie-fest, I would not have been able to sleep unless I did. Hopefully, everyone who was as horrified by what I observed last night will do the same if at all possible.

Sherry, Atlanta   September 4th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

And Obama/Biden will win in November, because of Palin running her mouth. It's apparent that Palin has BAD JUDGEMENT… she told any/everyone of her Son leaving for Iraq on Sept. 11, and her son was in the Gulf serving.

SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE TOLD HER. . .THAT'S A NO NO!

Obama/Biden '08-'12

POmbo   September 4th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

I will donate 25$ to Obama tonight. I can't believe this woman thinks she has more experience then Obama because she was a Mayor in a sparsely populated state and two year Governor over a state with a total population of SoHo Manhattan? Come on you have to be kidding me! She governs over the wildlife and fires her police chief because the guy wouldn't get rid of her in-law who was divorcing a relative. Vindictive! That’s what the V in McSame’s VP stands for.

We don’t need that, we’d end up in Iraq for a million years with that attitude!
Gotta give it to the GOP though, they are opening up to Obama’s ideals and hoping it works for them…sounds like the Sandals are being made in the millions over there. FLIP FLOP FLIP FLOP

Ryan McMahon   September 4th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

Anyone who thinks of Iraq war as a divine happening and not a monumental blunder should stay as far away from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave as possible, like Alaska.

Hearing Palin's (and Romney's and Giuliani's) speeches last night, my stomach turned and my skin crawled. A bunch of angry white men, a pitbull PTA mom, and an elderly guy with post-traumatic stress disorder.

This is the best the Republican party can do?

They've put fear into our hearts, that's for sure — but it's fear of THEM.

Poor baby may never get over the shock of someone being unafraid to critcize him and expose him for what he is. Go for the jugular, Sarah! They won't be showing you any mercy!

Paul Dobro   September 4th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

What is the over-under for the number of times John says "my friends"?

How about the over-under on how many times he says POW?

I think if you have a drinking game where you drink everytime he says economy, you'll be the designated driver and drink everytime he says Obama, you'll be drunk.

Eunice   September 4th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Pure propaganda by Obama campaign to scare their opponents. They used the same tactics to scare Hillary's campaign into believing that they out raise them 10 times, therefore making their opponents to believe that they have more money. They are lying. Do not believe them. It is simply not true.

Teresa   September 4th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Great I will now have to turn the channel or mute my TV more often…maybe I will just not turn it on. The more money that is poured in means more nauseating ad's that will be run. To bad the contributors don't make real change and donate to help the people they claim to be helping by voting and promoting Obama. REAL change comes from individuals not government!

Paula from Canada..   September 4th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Not sure that was much help since according to today's WSJ Obama is $110 million behind where he planned to be now.

Montana Thinker   September 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Good for Obama and the loyal Democrats who believe in their ideals and walk the talk!

To all of those people who say they were a Hillary Clinton supporter and are now [correction from earlier post] supporting McCain/Palin – shame on you. You are obviously NOT voting for people based on the platforms, the beliefs and the ideals of the party. I supported Sen. Clinton because she, and her party, believe in the same things I do. I cannot vote for McCain/Palin simply because Palin is a woman. She does NOT hold the same ideals and values that I do. She is vehemently anti-choice, to the point that a woman who is raped or the victim of incest MUST bear the resulting child. That is wrong and shameful.

Andrew   September 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Personally, I donated $100 for Obama straight, bought two more T-Shirts (one for my sister) and raised $300 from family and friends via email since Palin's speech. A VP who ignores issues in favor of vicious smears is unfit to run the country.

Give me a break   September 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

So what you all are saying is Obama is trying to buy his way into office? He's telling himself every night, how many suckers can I get money out of today to win this election! Seems to me that money would do a lot better spent in our failing economy and not donated to the media because that is where most of it is going.

I'd consider voting for him……except he hasn't proven he can do ANYTHING he's promising. Heck, he hasn't done anything in the time he's been in the Senate for crying out loud. How can you people believe anything he says without proof he can actually pull it off?

And why would a candidate that is an agent of change bring in a person that has more time in broken Washington then the man he is running against? Seems McCain got that one right and Obama got that one wrong!

ObamaAllTheWay   September 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

You complain about your boss not doing his job. You notice he's only working to fatten his pockets with big oil payoffs. He fights all the time with the smaller companies instead of the bigger company that has hurt him the most . Your have not received a raise and you may lose your job because the boss is now outsourcing the jobs. You are about to lose your home. The boss has so many houses he can't count them. The company you work for has not turned a profit in years and has low approval ratings. The boss distributes a company wide memo that reads " I really don't know much about the economy." The boss threatens to release the pitbull on if you keep WHINING. You have put up with his bullying ways for eight long years. Finally your work contract is ending with your boss. As you think about your family's future you ask yourself "Should I continue working for this creep or should I CHANGE employers? ".

It's that simple America. It's time for a change and YOU know it.

ANCIENT PROVERB: Don't let your pitbulls run loose with the moose on the White House lawn.

Andrea, DC   September 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

Well small wonder. Sarah trotted a pregnant unmarried teenager onstage and said look at us America, aren't we great. This woman is full of moose hockey.

My money, my time, and my vote will go to Barack Obama, and I can't wait until November. The long national nightmare of the Bush Administration will be OVER, OVER, OVER. He'll go crawling back to Crawford with his tail between his legs into obscurity. Thank God.

After reading this i just gave 25. I want us to hit 10 million tonight! Moose burgers for everyone!

tony   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

It seems like by playing to the house as much as they did both Giuliani and Palin may have forgotten how this would seem to a lot of the rest of the country outside the house.

Rich   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

this CNN-loving obama kool aid crowd is sickening. i wish they would all drink the kool aid served up by Jim Jones and go away forever. obama is an empty suit, period. cannot vote yes or no on any proposed legislation. the only change obama wants is the change out of every hard working American's pocket so he can re-distribute it to his lazy unemployed followers.

Bill   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

It's too bad that Palin has to step aside, briefly, and let McCain struggle through a few words tonight. Hopefully that won't kill the ticket's momentum.

ashley   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

You know if so many people can just give like this then maybe people are doing "okay" than expected, huh?? Also, Palin has helped McCain raise money as well! I think its really partisan of CNN to even allow this snide comment to even be posted.

This is why CNN's ratings is again not as high as FOXNEWS.

Yep   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Election Results in Early:

John McCain has just elected the first black President of the United States.

Ahem.

Maya Jones   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

I am very pleased to hear donations actually increased after Palin's speech. Perhaps some of those donations came from supporters of Hillary . Maybe they finally realized that having a female VP nominee that's a Republican isn't a replacement of Hillary.

Robert   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Desperation and fear bring in money.

donny, sacramento   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

I am one of those donors. I couldn't resist, expecially after that list of lies Palin gave last night. No way in HELL do I want to see someone like that running…or attempting to run this country. We deserve better than the status quo…and McCain/Palin cannot fill that need. Obama '08.

mike   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Count me in for more donations to Obama as well. I am energized by Palin to do whatever I can to keep her and McCain from winning. She has shown herself to be a liar and is now spewing even more lies and smears about Barack Obama. Nice job Mrs Palin.

leapfrog   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Go Nanook of the North! Keep talking. No substance, no beef. Where's the beef?

Perhaps she can give a hateful speech about Hillary Clinton and help her payoff her debt.

R.I.F.   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

After watching Goon Night at the RNC I immmediatly went online and donated and then told my wife that that cast of idiots last night should go on a fundraising tour…for Obama.

George, Indiana   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

She did what I didn't think anyone could do – knock Obama to page 3 of any news story. McCain/Palin because I can't stand Obama supporters. You guys are hateful and need to eat crow in November!

JDOD   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Just gave to the Obama campaign and got all my family members to do also. Obama/Biden no one else will do. I love it!

patrick   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Well i gave $500 yesterday, so i say let the money rain on in. Something a little discrepant about this Palin lady!!

Nonetheless, its Obama/Biden 2008

eddiebly, Orlando FL   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

As an Independent, after what I saw last night, I finally joined the Obama nation or as "Pipeline Palin" calls it, his devoted followers. $100 donated and many more to come.

Shelley, Pittsburgh   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Hey Mike in Texas — Candidates aren't allowed to accept foreign donations!

I've got to say that Speech last night really was raunchy. it's like she gave two different speeches. one she was comfy with when it was about her, and the other part that the washington "good old boys" speech writers for Bush wrote for her….it sounded raw and unrehearsed.

Hope we get 8 million more tonight!

Ben   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

I had been waiting to donate to Obama for when I had enough money, but after last night, Palin gave me a little push.

obama warrior   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

that's just too funny. lol lol lol

Tam/Stone Mountain   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Ok. CNN give it a rest. We all know Time gave you the talking points last night. Beware Democrats- stick with the issues. Remember Obama limped to the finish line even though he spent more than Hillary. Bashing Palin will not win this election for us. Dems were able to bash Hillary because they tied her hands but the Republicans will come full force.

I have to give it to Palin, we dished it out day after day and she came out swinging. The race baiting and the sexism will BACK FIRE this time.

As an AA female who has been a democrat all my life I think we need to clean up our act or we will be looking at McCain as President in November.

kathy - phoenix   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Now that's news worth hearing after Palin's speech. Right on !!

bruno nana   September 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Sarah Bell, Cleveland OH   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Sarah Palin is DICK CHENEY WITH LIPSTICK!! You got to give it to Karl Rove though, he sure knows how to pick a VP for his party. The FEARFUL RIGHT ate it up. Watching the Fear Convention yesterday, it looked more like a klan meeting to me. Anyone else get that vibe?

Yep, I maxed out last night.

debbie   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Yes, we are frightened and its motivating. She is pulling the Repubs into the far, far right. Can someone in the media research this story that she has tried to have books banned from the Alaska Library including Canterbury Tales and the Harry Potter books among a hundred others? Or will they back off of her like they did the story about McCain and the female lobbyist because all he had to say was that he would not discuss it again. If you vote for this team don't blame me if we have a draft to support new and endless wars, an economy that only helps the richest, and have a woman's right to choice outlawed. The Catholic and Jewish vote along with moderate Christians wil be lost once her views become known but the extreme Evangelicals will come out for her in droves. For more years of this? No thanks.

Gary of El Centro, Ca   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Seems that she fired up the Democratic base more than she did the Republican base. How cool is that?

drew   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Funny! I'll donate too, but I'll wait for McCain to speak. The RNC may be the most successful Obama fundraising event of the campaign season!

Ihavenohouse   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

me too

LJ   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

For the first time in my life (55 yrs.) I donated $ to a political party (Democrats) last evening. I am dismayed that issues of importance to Americans and landed immigrants, i.e. health care, the Iraqi war with its devaluing of human life, the economy etc. are not being addressed by the Republican party. Palin's speech was juvenile and pejorative, accompanied by grade school boos from the flock whenever the Democrats were maligned. The people of this country are not stupid, and deserve to be addressed with respect and dignity.

Chris - WI   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

$25 more is on the way right now for Obama/Biden.

No Way, No How, No McInsane & Sarah brings more Pain!!!

AEK   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

I got online immediately and donated to the Obama campaign. In forty years of voting I have never felt as compelled to get involved in a campaign as I do now. I don't know if I'm more concerned that McCain/Palin will bring the same results as the Bush years or will be worse! I don't know how the country can stand much more.

Los   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

The frightening possibility of this woman and whatever John McCain has become taking the White House has effectively ended my penny-pinching ways.

Erika   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Yep, donated again today. Great speech Palin!

Never thought I'd say this, but I miss Hillary!

Michelle D. - Atlanta, GA   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

I'm getting my checkbook out now…

I just have to remind America that just a few months ago hundreds of underage children were forcibly (and illegally) taken from their parents arms on the unconfirmed report that there was underage sex going on between children and adults. Then, this woman steps forward and shoves her pregnant daughter into the limelight. Did she forget the "father" is 18? In most states that's statutory rape and is punishable.

Did we forget the case of Genarlow Wilson who was jailed for RECEIVING oral sex from an underaged girl? His life is ruined!!!

Why is there no legal action against this young man, the admitted father???

Just want equal treatment for ALL Americans!!!

karen-phoenix   September 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

I love how Republicans love to tell you Obama is raising taxes. Actually, he's cutting them for 95% of America. McCain is continuing the Bush tax cuts (Which are widely regarded as a economic failure) and give billions more in tax cuts to big corporations already getting huge breaks.

White and Black support for Obama   September 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

Sarah Bashed Obama service to the community ,but the republican are known to see country first. Flip flop republican, Obama never work with repulican to accomplished anything, but some senator actually use Obama name to campaign for reelection.

Republican are flip flop, vote for them because you are one of them. Country first but yet you criticized someone who left big money to serve as a community organizer. country first hhhhhaa.

open your eyes.

Patriotism….straight talk express. Sarah..Palin wants to Alaska to leave America and yet they speak of patriotism. Shame if you want to sale the country Sarah…this country is not for sale.

its seems palins immense popularity with the extremes of the republican party is pushing moderates and independents into obama's embrace.

her existance onn the ticket also rallies the far left (who have been dissapointed with obama's centrist positions) to support Obama with near religious fervour.

About Those Community Organizing Years…

By Alec MacGillis
Both Rudy Giuliani and Gov. Sarah Palin reserved some of their harshest lines last night to mock Barack Obama's years working as a community organizer in Chicago, with Palin saying that it resembled her work as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, except that as a mayor "you have actual responsibilities."

The attacks may have been inevitable, given how much emphasis the Obama campaign has placed on that part of his resume. The campaign's constant touting of Obama's accomplishments as a community organizer has always been somewhat at odds with Obama's own account in his 1995 memoir, in which he makes clear how frustrating and relatively unproductive the experience actually was.

But the McCain campaign's comparisons between Obama's years as a community organizer and Palin's as mayor also serves as an attempt by the McCain campaign to establish a biographical equivalence between two different life stages gone through by candidates close in age and, perhaps, to write his time representing a populous Chicago state senate district out of the picture. After all, Obama was an organizer from roughly age 24 to 26 — after he graduated from Columbia University but before he went to Harvard Law School — and Palin, at that age, was working as a television sports broadcaster.
If Palin's two terms as mayor are chronologically equivalent to anything in Obama's biography, it is to his eight years in the Illinois State Senate, which occupied roughly the same stretch in his late 30s and early 40s as did her time running Wasilla.
That, however, is comparison that shapes up a bit differently. Wasilla's population during Palin's tenure as mayor was roughly 5,000; Obama's Senate district held about 200,000 constituents, or about 40 times as many as Palin's Wasilla.
Slightly more than 1,000 people voted in Palin's reelection contest in 1999, which she won 826-255. Slightly more than 50,000 voted in Obama's 1998 reelection, which he won with about 45,000 votes.

Obamist   September 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

I am so happy. CNN tried to make Palin's speech out to be so great!!! I was disappointed. They sounded worse than Fox. I wouldn't believe that Campbell was so silly – I like you so please change. I am off to donate too. Love you Obama. God bless you always!!! Back off Palin- we are ready for you.

MN Indy   September 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

Yes! I'm so glad that I can still donate to my chosen candidate instead of having to run it through 527 groups like the Repubs!

Toby   September 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

It's an old Republican tactic: Raise fear to raise money. This time though, they did it to themselves.

Belle2   September 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

Seems to me these Obama fans are not hurting from the economy, or are they donating their welfare checks. Perhaps, the source of these funds needs to be investigated.

Ex GOPer   September 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

Right after Palin's speach I donated to Obama's campaign. I'm also finding out how I can volunteer her in Colorado. We don't need four more years of Bush's policies and the convention so far has removed any shadow of a doubt I had that that's exactly what we will get.

Ben   September 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

Thank you for mentioning this. I donated last night. Palin seemed hateful and divisive.

I am tired of the culture wars. I didn't know that McCain meant they are going to keep going full steam. Sad…..

McCain supporter   September 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

every one get off the obama band wagon, its pathetic to wacth every one flock to this man. when he tells me what he will do then I will take his big ears serious.

gia   September 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

This Tina Fey lookalike Rove in drag hit it out of the ballpark last night – if the task was to deliver teleprompter lines in the impeccable manner of a Fox news anchor to an adoring audience of low-IQ drones. Her jabs and almost pathologic sneer-with-a-smile delivery put the ‘palin’ in ‘appalling’ – with a missing piece, fittingly.

Randall Levine   September 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

YES! That's what I'm talking about.

Yolanda   September 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

She's trying hard to get the sympathy vote. She's telling moms with disabled kids; vote 4 me cause i have a disabled child too, eventhough I wouldnt know skort about running this country. She tries hard to appeal 2 working moms just casue she's one herself. I take offense to her thinking she cn get my vote for that reson alone. I dont know this woman from anything, but I know 4 sure she wont be getting my vote.

Former Republican   September 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

I donated as well. Palin reminds me too much of George Bush in 2000, inexperienced and very conservative… Palin McCain is a big risk. There were many more qualified female republicans, but apparently none conservative enough for the new conservative John McCain. This is not good for the country. Respectfully, Please say 'no' to Palin McCain

JEFFY   September 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

Poor Palin..all she has to offer is more of the same republican bashing. Why can't repbulicans talk about the issues? She stands on a national stage proud of herself….or is she disguising the fact that she had an affair on her hubby and her 17 yr old daughter is pregnant.

JEC   September 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

Amazing! I will keep on giving as long as it is a possibility that she will one day run our country. No thank you.

Don't know how much the Obama campaign wasted on those styrofoam Greek columns for his selection acceptance speech, but it wasn't worth it.

Each time Obama speaks he just proves more and more how out of touch he is with average Americans.

And I was one of those 130,000 donors!

Melanie, Tampa FL   September 4th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

I love it! They bash him and HE gets donations. Just proves that old saying that God "doesn't like ugly", (and she was down right ugly last night), is true. Neither does most of America. Sara Palin doesn't know the meaning of "play nice", yet that's what she expects from everyone else. I hope the Pit Bull is ready to put her money where her mouth is or she just might get her lipstick and her chain yanked good.

Enlightened Voter   September 4th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

deb   September 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Thank God! Anyone who would vote for McCain/Palin has to be crazy. She is so far to the right it's ridiculous. I watched her mean spirited, pit bull speech last night and was thoroughly disgusted. She had nothing to say of substance and lied big time about earmarking. The cameras kept showing the people in the audience and it seemed to me that many of the people thought the same way as I did. And, no self-respecting Hillary supporter would defect to this woman's camp! Hillary is FOR THE PEOPLE of the US. This woman clearly IS NOT.

Debby   September 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

I've never donated to any campaign in my life but after i saw Palin's speech and the hate she spewed towards Obama i got up went on my internet looked up Obama's website and made a donation. I see others did the same. Well Palin may have stirred up her base, but she overwhelming increased Obama's support and i know many independents are now looking at Obama more. Palin seems so crazy she's like Bush with Boobs. I can't have another 4 years of Bush

Virginia Voter   September 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

No Frank, the American people are tying to buy back our country from big oil and war profiteers, thank god they're too greedy themselves to compete with the people of this country.

tima_totoro   September 4th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

wow! to paraphrase favor flav, the people don't believe the hype. O'8

Tom in MD   September 4th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

CT Belle   September 4th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

I am about to give right now. People are ready for a change…that speech last night sealed the deal. She was way too nasty.

Wow…she's making me all sentimental for George W… HIS ratings are definitely going to go UP after Sarah is finished with us. She's going to make Katrina look like a birthday party.

I never thought I'd hear a worse orator than George W. Bush, but along comes Sarah Palin! Can't the Republican's force these people to join Toastmasters or something??

shaik   September 4th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

Repugs need to learn that "trash talk" (with lipstick or not) does not work outside of Bubba-ville! It will now be knows as the "speech to nowhere!"

Ed-Florida   September 4th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

Her speech was impressive to the Reps but she didn't talk about the issues. That is why people donated all this money to Obama, because they want real change. Add me to the list of donors…..

Lisa   September 4th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

Sarah Palin. How can someone who claim to have so much to offer take the lowest road possilbe!

McPalin just committed POLITICAL SUICIDE yoking up with McSame and McBush. What a waist no one will ever trust her after this!

The boss distributes a company wide memo that reads " I really don't know much about the economy." You have put up with his bullying ways for eight long years. Finally your work contract is ending with your boss. As you think about your family's future you ask yourself "Should I continue working for this creep or should I CHANGE employers? ".

It's that simple America. It's time for a change and YOU know it.

Have you kissed your moose today?

Old white lady for Obama   September 4th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Every time the Republicans say or do something especially despicable I mail in a small donation to the Obama campaign. At this rate I could be bankrupt before Election Day.

Obama/Biden 08   September 4th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

The irony… the irony…

Well, what did Palin expect? She seems like she's going to be the biggest contributor to rallying the Democratic base, lmao.

janine   September 4th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

I also donated money to the Obama campaign. Unless McCain in his address tonight says that he is ending the Iraq occupation then he will not get my vote. With the economy the way it is we should not be spending $10.3 billion a month on this especially when Iraq has a money surplus.

Grant   September 4th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

We must be slacking…I'll send more tonight.

John, FL   September 4th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

What does the Republicans have against Americans funding a campaign? That's right.. it's anti-establishment. Obama isn't a gimmick and he's not going away. Hopefully this will send a message.

No More Mistakes   September 4th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

After hearing Palin's speech , I was so scared for this country. I decided to donate to the Obama campaign. I didn't realize others thought the same way. thats GREAT! I made the mistake to vote for Bush once. I'm not making the mistake again.

Janet, TN   September 4th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Okay, Eskimos, pregnant teenagers, shot-gun weddings, spit cleaned babies–it was a circus last night.

Thank God the rest of the country get it. I'm not surprised Barack is making more money. I took one look at Sarah the cheerleader, and said where's my checkbook.

When I heard the speech last night by rudy, mitt, & Sarah I donated to Barack Obama.

I am over the negative, divisive, and narrow-minded campaign of John McCain.

Sarah Palin dismissed me as a community adovcate and said my work in the community does not have responsibilites. I was counted as a NON-person and that my story is meaningless to the backbone of America.

Sarah's hate filled speech divides ALL American families..

I am working for a better America.

I am voting for Barack Obama and Joe Biden to help my families dreams succeed….!!

This is ridiculous. There is really no way to establish cause and effect between raising money and speeches. HOw stupid can reporters get?

rusty   September 4th, 2008 5:31 pm ET

That's what arrogance, and condecension, and lies, and distortions, and mockery, in a pretty package, will get you. Good to hear the Obama army is still alive and strong. The attitude of the Republican Convention is so smug, I think the American public can see through it, and, talented as she is, Palin is now fair game.

Sarah L., Fayetteville, AR   September 4th, 2008 5:30 pm ET

Good. I think I'll donate myself after listening to how negative the Republicans have been over the last couple of days. I know it's a convention, but they should at least have a few ideas to help the country.

Kim Ca   September 4th, 2008 5:30 pm ET

Big D   September 4th, 2008 5:30 pm ET

I'm not surprised. I talked to so many people today that were just outraged at the blatant lies and unwarranted slams on Obama last night. I can't believe so many people there clapped and cheered – it was all just depressingly negative. Who's Palin to be so contemptuous of Obama? If he and his ideas are so sneeringly awful, then what's her solution? Where's her plan? What would she do differently? What would she do that's better? What are her own ideas (Obama writes his own speeches!)? And how can she claim to be so righteous when she spread so many lies and distortions last night? I hope this does lead to a big swing to Obama. McCain made a rash decision to pick Palin, and I am more appalled by her every day,

Sarah Palin didn’t earn this, this was handed to her on a silver platter simply because she’s a woman! John McCain is obviously using her for his purpose. And I don’t know what her motives are for accepting. Sarah Palin is not Hillary Clinton, Hillary has earned this right! Hillary will be the first woman for President in 2012 she represent so much more than Palin could ever bring. Palin can not talk Hillary’s place in the hearts of the people and work she has fought so hard for.

The Obama campaign has already proven several times that no amount of money will help Barack Obama seal the deal with voters.

Don't know how much the Obama campaign wasted on those styrofoam Greek columns for his selection acceptance speech, but it wasn't worth it.

It's about the message, and each time Obama speaks he just proves more and more how out of touch he is with average Americans.

Too bad.

Obama is winning swing voters 2:1. The GOP machine is very polarizing. We cannot afford more ring-wing lying lonneys in the white house.

BTW, Palin raised taxes on sales and groceries by 2% in Wasilla to pay for a hockey arena and didn't build the "Bridge to Nowhere" but kept ALL THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

Ha ha ha!!

Is it odd that the GOP totes her as the most popular governor in the US, when it appears to me more people in the us hate her then any other Governor in the US? Oh that's right, it only counts in her COUNTRY of Alaska with it's HUGE population of people that like her.

What kind of math are the republicans using there? Perhaps it's that kind of math that leads them to think the Economy is in GREAT shape?

RJ, CA   September 4th, 2008 5:23 pm ET

I love PIT BULL women. WE get things done — always have, always will — with or without lipstick!

And I LOVE men who love them!

Wonder how long it will take O-blah-blah to call her "Annie Oakley," as he did Hillary Clinton!

After tonight — the McCain camp will far exceed the $8 million Obama raked in! And I'm one who'll make sure of that by contributing — again!

Steve   September 4th, 2008 5:23 pm ET

Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God."
"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God," she said. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan."

This way they don't have to take responsibility and can blame God.

Got to love it! This is your pick?

Ian   September 4th, 2008 5:23 pm ET
