Heart condemns McCain-Palin use of 'Barracuda'

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) - Blasting through the Republican convention hall is the 1977 hit "Barracuda" by rock band Heart.

It's a shout-out to Sarah Palin. When she played basketball in high school, the soon-to-be Republican vice presidential nominee earned the nickname "Sarah barracuda" for her fierce competitiveness.

Some of her opponents revived the "Sarah barracuda" nickname after she became mayor of her hometown, Wasilla, in 1996, defeating a three-term incumbent.

UPDATE: Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart said Thursday night that Universal Music Publishing and Sony BMG have sent a cease and desist notice to the McCain-Palin campaign over their use of 'Barracuda.'

"We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We
hope our wishes will be honored," the group said in a statement that said they "condemn" the use of the song at the Republican convention.

    Great song, poor candidate.
She should become a talk-show host after she loses the election.

    Vets for Obama!

A has been song for a has been politician with his worn out Bush agenda. Did we notice that there were pretty much only white people in that crowd? Not a fair and balanced representation of "we the people" I should say.

    From the song:

"If the real thing don't do the trick
you'd better make up something quick...,"

Pretty much sums up the McCain campaign, trying to sell us the same old lousy Bush Republican policies that have failed us for so many years.

CNN can you please talk about how Palin wants to ban books, teach creationism and ban abortion even in cases or rape and incest- PALIN'S 'STRENGTH' IS ENERGY REFORM AND SHE DOESN'T BELIEVE GLOBAL WARMING IS MAN MADE? Who cares about the heart song!!

Can you talk about McShame's record with VETS and how he voted against the GI bill and against energy reform?
This party is so hypocritical it's maddening.
If anyone has any doubt what a McShame administration will be about...fight fight fight war war war!

The writers, singers, preformers, and owners of the rights to that song have asked McSame and Pale-in Alaskan to stop using that song. They said they never asked permission and would not have gotten it. Bummer. It's such a good song-but who's kidding–i wouldn't let them use my song either

Sarah Palin is truly a breath of fresh air but no matter how fresh the air is, the bad odor will always prevail, RNC is currently a bad odor, McCain inclusive. McCain is truly an american hero but he, unfortunately is not the leader we need in this dispensation.

Did they ever listen to the lyrics? The song is not flattering:

"You lying so low in the weeds"

    That sounds about right.

too late to flip flop towards change when you are with Bush 90%+ of the time. When you have to adopt your opponent's message late in the game, there is something wrong with you and your message. McPalin has no credibility.

I am quoting a fantastic line from a Woody Allan film which applies here.

"If Jesus came back and saw everything is being done in his name, he would never stop throwing up."

  12. Blue Collar Woman for Obama!

I started out this week as an independent voter, still on the fence, leaning towards Obama. However, I was interested in hearing what Palin and McCain had to say. After hearing them deliver their messages at the RNC, the choice is obvious for me: Eight is enough.

NO WAY, NO HOW, NO MCCAIN-PALIN.

    OBAMA/BIDEN '08/12

The Convention forgot to mention that Cindy McCain came from a second marriage, the money from Arizona Mafia, McCain left his first marriage high and dry, and the great Keating 5 scandal.
Fight corruption, got to start with the family first.
Very boring, reruns of same old stories. I want to hear about helping America.

    A VP named Barricuda.

McCain better get a food taster because Palin is eyeing that oval office.

She knows with this old man, this is her chance to become president.

Finally? What do you mean he has been negative. Comparing Obama to Paris Hilton? WoW CNN might as well be Fox News if you all are going to keep taking sides. I did not see you being this favorable last week during the DNC Convention.

Palin is a lost cause after her speech last night and all the attacks that she made against the democrates and the media. She did not have the credibility to do that. She will turn away a lot of voters with her nasty little attitude.

Did all of u have orders to try to play up this speech?? That is what it seems like! You all know that was a bad boring and losing speech!

You all are shutting down blogs after a few seconds. That's crazy!!! What is your agenda?! Let the people speak!
