Heart condemns McCain-Palin use of 'Barracuda'

Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart.

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) - Blasting through the Republican convention hall is the 1977 hit "Barracuda" by rock band Heart.

It's a shout-out to Sarah Palin. When she played basketball in high school, the soon-to-be Republican vice presidential nominee earned the nickname "Sarah barracuda" for her fierce competitiveness.

Some of her opponents revived the "Sarah barracuda" nickname after she became mayor of her hometown, Wasilla, in 1996, defeating a three-term incumbent.

UPDATE: Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart said Thursday night that Universal Music Publishing and Sony BMG have sent a cease and desist notice to the McCain-Palin campaign over their use of 'Barracuda.'

"We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We
hope our wishes will be honored," the group said in a statement that said they "condemn" the use of the song at the Republican convention.

Is anyone even listening to the undertones and subliminal message that John McCain is pushing forth – it's the draft.
He plans to reinstate the draft. Don't believe me just ask him.
All his talk of service, country first, and sacrifice is about the DRAFT.

lots of really angry dems. You better get a life before November or you are going to spontaneously combust.

This is going to be so much fun to watch you / Dems / libs / media just go off the deep end trying to understand how this can be.

    The facts always prevail

Why would they want them to stop using the song? It is great advertisement for them, who havent been heard from in years. Use of the song will surely revive sales of this song and others from Heart. How dumb can they be? They should be encouraging its use, not discouraging it.

Oh you dems are so naive. The Obama/Biden ticket doesn't have a chance now. McCain needed someone a little more conservative than him on his ticket. He has that and so much more with Palin. This republican ticket is so strong. Go McCain/Palin!!

The only thing Senator McCain showed is why he would be 4 more years of the same. He blamed ALL our economic problems on the price of oil, if you can believe it!

Now, most people can understand that the price of oil is NOT what caused their houses to drop in value, or their jobs to evaporate. To solve the price of gasoline problem, all we had to do was slow down and pump up our tires. As a result, the price of gas has plummeted.

No, the reason the economy continues to free-fall towards a full-blown recession is because the REPUBLICANS DON’T GET IT!

GIVING A HUGE TAX BREAK TO THE WEALTHY IN THE MIDDLE OF A RECESSION WILL RESULT IN DISASTER! In 2001, George W. Bush did exactly that, and as a result of his failure to provide adequate short-term stimulus, the FED was forced to do his job for him and rescue the economy by dropping rates to THEIR LOWEST POINT IN HISTORY and keeping them there. That, in turn, set up the present problem with the housing industry, while dropping the worth of the dollar into the toilet.

AND SENATOR MCCAIN WANTS MORE OF THE SAME!

There’s only one way out of this, and that is to THROW THE BUMS OUT and put REAL change in place.

THANK GOD for Senator Barack Obama. The country needs him, and it needs him NOW!

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

    GO BAMA!

Maybe John and Sarah "Eva Braun" Palin can make "Who Let The Dogs Out? Woof, Woof, Woof" their new theme song given she's taking credit for bringing "glamor" to pitbulls along with all her other "Christian" attributes.. LOL

Let's put Obama's experience up against Cindy McCain, she wins hands down.So with McCain/Palin you get a president and a first lady that are experienced and engaged in national and world affairs, with a vp that has actually run a state, with a small town authentic real person view of life as most of America lives it.With the Obama's you get two–LAWYERS-lawyers for president, with no experience or view futher than the Chicago Political scene, and the radical black church community.

What is this, the third group or singer to tell McCain to go away? You think McCain will get the hint that he's not too popular?

Van Halen, Jackson Browne and now Heart.

I used to like Heart, that just went out the window, how pathetic and childish, like most of you on here. Pay high taxes, have terrorists on our door step in months after obama takes the office. Steven P., thats how Obama made his money, off his dumb books. McCain is what this country needs. As for over doing the "war hero" part, get this people, it shows who this man really is. He put his country and his fellow americans before himself, he shows his selflessness in everything he does. Barrack has never ran anything, not a company, not an office, not mayor, governor, city counsel, NOTHING, he was part of the senate, he gets to vote if he likes something or not, and quite frankly after his interview w/ o'rielly, his vote hasn't counted and has always been wrong. Also, before you keep going on and on about McCain voting with his party 90% of the time, keep in mind that so has Barrack Obama, only he has 97% of the time, with that said, it is a proven fact this is the worst accomplished congress/senate in history, and it's head up by mostly dems. We all have our faults, but it's time to see past the party lines. Go with who you believe in. Personally i think everything Obama says is a lie. He has flip flopped so much, and the main thing is the war. he said when he got in office he would start pulling out troops in 90 days. THEN someone must have relayed the facts to him about how it would take more than a year just to get all our equiptment out of there and how an early pull out would be even more disasterous for our country. People need to do some research before blurting out information that don't stick.
