McCain, Palin pledge to 'break some china' in Washington

McCain and Palin are stumping on a ‘maverick’ message.

McCain and Palin are stumping on a ‘maverick’ message.

STERLING HEIGHTS, Michigan (CNN) - At a large rally in Michigan on Friday, his first day campaigning after accepting the Republican presidential nomination, John McCain promised to upend the Washington status quo, arguing that the Democratic ticket doesn't have the chops to do so.

"That's why this ticket is the ticket to shake up Washington, because Sen. Obama doesn't have the strength to do it," McCain said. "He has never bucked his party on any issue. Never. If you want real reform, if you want real change, send the one's who've actually done it. Send the team of mavericks who aren't afraid to go to Washington and break some china."

Introducing McCain, running mate Sarah Palin boasted, "There is only one man in this election who has every really fought for you, and that man is John McCain."

Palin offered another call to turn Washington upside down.

"I came to office promising major ethics reform to end the culture of self-dealing, and today that ethics reform is the law and that's what we're going to bring to Washington," she said.

Palin again told the tale of how she put her predecessor's luxury jet up for sale on eBay. Although she did initially offer the plane up for auction on the web, there were no takers, and it was ultimately sold off through a private broker.

At the beginning of her remarks, the Alaska governor played to her "hockey mom" persona by holding up a Detroit Red Wings jersey in front of the boisterous crowd. She also thanked Michiganders for hosting her son Track when he was a senior in high school - Palin said he spent part of that year playing hockey just outside of Kalamazoo.

Here's the way I see it. America is the woman and the Republicans are the lying cheating boyfriend of 8 years. And now he's begging to have her back and is promising to change. Even threatening her safety as a ploy to get her back. You had your shot, now step aside and let Obama show you how to treat a woman!
    God Bess America!

McSame proved nothing with his speech. Palin proved that she can read.

Their are no specifics in their speech. I've heard specifics from Obama. I'm voting for Obama/Biden this year.

McCain is worried worried about Obama bringing the economy down, why is he not worried about the cost of the Iraq war? Is it where we spend milliard of dollars and if we did'nt it would really help our economy?
Who writes politicians speeches? do politicians really participate in writting process or their just perform by reading them. Does Sarah Pallin knows history, geography, political science? what knowledge does she poses to be the condidate?

It's appalling people actually want McCain in office so he can continue the destruction of the country... Party above Country I guess.

John McCain cheerleadered Americans into an invasion of Iraq which has caused death, injury and misery for are military and the poor people in Iraq and HAS PROVEN TO BE THE BIGGEST DRAIN AND PORK BARREL SPENDING of treasure and American reputation of this pathetic eight years.

These two can sling it but both lack intelligence, judgement, respect for others and empathy. The thought of these two makes me want to break some china.

I hope that Sarah Palin has some knowledge of how this government works, we do have three equal parts and even if she ever becomes president (heaven forbid ) there is still a congress and a supreme court to contend with, she should be careful what she says. As vice president her only duty will be the tie vote in the senate, hardly likely as they will be controlled by the democrats. Of course there are always those funerals to attend.

I wish the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party were getting more coverage . I made up my mind that I would not vote for McCain when Tancredo and Mike Huckabee was by the media ... IF I AM GOING TO WASTE MY VOTE , IT WILL BE TO SUPPORT AN ALTOGETHER DIFFERENT PARTY .

Ms. McCain looked like she was rehearsing for the lead role in a Laura Bush movie and to portray her as someone who is all heart after SHE slithered into a troubled marriage was just plain arrogant. ANYBODY with as much money as she has would be all heart all around the world . SHE COULD HAVE ADOPTED THE WHOLE ORPHANAGE ! ! !

Martha Stewart lies to one Federal agent about a personal financial matter and has to go to prison... George Bush lied to every American citizen and gets re-elected.... Sarah Palin tries to sell a jet on e-bay and McBush, McSame has to lie about it- sold it for a profit. If these two get elected it will be China breaking Washington. How much in the national debt? and to whom?

Obama gets grilled for 2 years by media for two years straight, is a man of calm and decency.

Palin gets thrown at us as the next (possible) PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES – we didn't get to vote for her in any primaries – AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WE CAN'T ASK ANY TOUGH QUESTIONS ABOUT HER OR HER PAST!!!!!!!

McCain hasn't changed Washington in 26 years. Obama has changed Bush's "timetables" and our politics (no lobby money) – and now even McCain is touting obama's "change"...

The only change people will see if Obama gets into office will be the loose change left in their pockets after he gets done paying off all his campaign promises.

McCain / Palin are a breath of fresh air. And they're just getting warmed up.

In spite of all the spin, the big lead the Dems were supposed to have never materialized and they've got nowhere to go but down.

Go get 'em John and Sarah!

    NoBama!!! No way!!

Please do some reporting on the fact that PALIN LIED ABOUT CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.

Palin said she would be a friend to families with special needs, but reduced the budget for SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN IN ALASKA by over 60% as Governor.

  17. ree no way no how Obama

Every one that was at my house for Labor Day (20 people) could not believe the gall Obama has to think with his little experience he can run this country. What gall all the Obama supporters have to think that everyone should be a sheep and follow Obama and his racist wife. You all talk about McCain but what about Biden, didn't he vote for the war.

What has the Democrat's done in the last two years. They have been in control and nothing has been done. Oh, wait Pelosi wrote a book and took a month off to promote it. What has Biden done in the last two years? What has Obama done in the last two years?

Saw them two today and it made me sick. She had to read from papers and it was the same words from the convention. Let the press get to her. Hope the people don't fall for this, another Bush. Wait till he gets at our social security.

Absolutely no idea what he means when he says "shake-up" Washington. Obama took over the DNC and the first thing he did is kick out the lobbyist. McCain is clearly being run by them.

    Does nobody even remember this?

Why won't she speak to the media...without McCain?
What is his camp so afraid of? That all her new supporters will see that she talks the talk but can't walk the walk. Please, I am begging you Mr. McCain, unleash the pitbull. Let's see what she has to say when you and your handlers are not pulling her puppet strings.
