I find it interesting that John McCain thinks that we should believe him that he can shake up washington when the republicans have been in power the last 8 years at the presidential level and 12 of the 14 at the senate/congressional level....I believe he's been in office 26 yrs...not a good track record for him. In addition to that...he has voted with Bush 90% of the time...in his own words....
There is nothing he can do....it's time to move on and get the republicans out of control for a while.

Actually, I think McCain is correct.

Obama rose to his power by NOT making any waves...working with a corrupt political machine in Chicago...he claims he stayed above the fray...then in the Senate, he voted right along party lines 97% of the time.

Did he buck the Party once in the Senate? NOPE.

I would rather take the risk on two that have bucked their own Party, than one that has appeased it, didn't make waves, and got in good with the Good Old Leaders.

McCain has been part of the "status quo" in Washington for 26 years and it seems like Palin is coming on board easily. How can any intelligent person believe that now since he is running for president he has the right judgment to break from his record of voting for Bush's failed polices 95% of the time. He doesn't have any new ideas nor does he have a vision to solve America's challenges and make the lives of it's people better.

It's time for the American people to get it right and NOT vote for McCain, instead vote for change. It's time for this country to turn the page and seek a new and better future for ourselves and our children. It's time for REAL change in Washington, it's time to elect Barack Obama for president !

Obama-Biden team is wiser and stronger to meet and solve the many problems facing America and abroad and to get us out of the hole the McCain-Bush administration has put and kept us in for 8 years.

Bottom Line=she's been exposed thoroughly.

As an independent, it is now striking to me how unreliable Pailin and Republicans are and how much more trustworthy Dems are.

Oh, and by the way, McCain--if you can't get it right between "Walter Reed Middle School" and "Walter Reed Hospital" right for your backrdrop what else are you going to screw up (besides your pick for VP)?

Hillary is older and wiser than Palin. Palin is a fine woman, but she's too fast in her decision-making. This is not good for the country.

We rushed to war. Let's not rush to make decisions. Let's not rush to Palin. Biden has a record and Obama will be fine. Obama also has the backings of moderate Republicans, like Wesley Clark.

I have full faith that Obama will be a lot more stable than Palin. After this reading this column, Obama has my blessings.

I am actually very conservative like Palin, except I belive in abortion for certain cases.

She was elected Alaska 's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a very very small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.

Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.she supported an Alaskan Constitutional ammendment to ban abortions.
She is not only pro-life but is involved with — and even steered tax money toward — organizations that give misleading information on abortion.

She supported right-wing extremist & Nazi sympathizer, Pat Buchanan for
           president in 2000.

Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.
At one point, Palin supported mandatory education for teenagers about contraception, something that political insiders in both parties will find ironic in the wake of her 17-year-old daughter Bristol’s pregnancy and upcoming 'shotgun' marriage.

She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.

She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.
How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.

After eight years of misleading, mistreatment and mismanagement by the Republicans I CAN'T WAIT for John and Sarah to step in and give us four years of Republican misleading, mistreatment and mismanagement. It'll be a real change being led by a tough warrior and lovely sidekick (Sarah and John, and in that order...)

Sarah Palin's husband, Todd, twice registered as a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a fierce states' rights group that wants to turn all federal lands in Alaska back to the state. Gail Fenumiai, director of the Alaska Division of Elections, said Todd Palin twice registered under the Alaskan Independence Party — in 1995 and 2000. Some members of the party have advocated secession from the United States, Lynette Clark, the chairman of the AIP, who told ABC News that Palin and her husband, Todd, belonged to the radical party in 1994.
The BIG LIE about Palin selling the Govenors Jet for a Profit on Ebay is A BIG LIE. I was sold at a $600,000.loss to a Republican Campaing contributor in a private sale not on Ebay.

Republican's told the truth on a hot mic that Palin was a gimmick.

Imagine, they are hiding her from the press because they are worried about making a mistake!!!

If that's true then imagine if she is just one heart beat from the president? Crazy gimmick!!!

Where is all the discussion about the fact that the United States is now official acknowledged as being second behind China in economic matters......almost to be third behind even INDIA?

Where is talk about ending the wars that have our fiscal hands tied behind our backs?

What in heck is going on in America during this election?

It is all about moose, eBay selling (or not) airplanes, family marital battles, MAVERICKS?

Wasn't Hitler a maverick?

Why do we NEED mavericks in Washington? Running our lives?

OUR LIVES!

I am much more concerned about the fact that Palin cut the budget for programs for special needs children in Alaska by 60% than worrying about the china!

The press needs to investigate this since she is pledging to be an "Advocate" for special needs children. She and McCain talk about cutting spending, but this is not the area to do it. We need answers from Sarah Palin about this.

If we are going to elect her as a Vice President we have the right to ask questions about her record. That is why we have the right to a free press as it states in the constitution.

When I read that Sarah never did sell the jet on ebay...it disappointed me very much that she would stand on the podium and tell us she had. What a LIAR!!!!!

If she were in court, the Judge would say any story she spoke would not be trusted!

Yes, Sarah is an excellent speeker and I really enjoyed listening to her
speach. She does have charism with style but I no longer believer what she says.

May you Repugs right, Obama could be full of it. But what I find funny is that, he was the one that initially spoke to the people about working across the, changing the way politics work from the beginning of this election. When other candidates realized what a powerful message he was speaking, all of a sudden, the others start singing his tune. Now McBush and Palin are talking about change, excuse me, they using reform now. Everytime Obama says something like we need to set a time table, we need to set diplomacy first with our enemies, the Repugs mimick. I don't know about you guys, but sounds like the one who is experienced, is the one the others keep following. I'll take my chances and stick to Obama!

well, I don't know about all this back and forth. But one thing I do know for certain and you do too. Obama voted against the Iraq war, McCain voted for it and Palin wasn't qualified to vote on it. The Iraq war is directly related to the downturn of our economy - the rising food prices - my god Milk was over $5 in my local grocery store, and no one has to talk about gas prices. Now ask yourself - who had the better judgment on this issue? One hundred million dollars a day goes to Iraq.

Imagine what we can accomplish when that money is in our own country? I

I just listened to Michael Moore on Larry King. If you listened to him answer King's questions, you would never vote for McCain/Palin, regardless of your opinion of Moore. "The Fleecing of America". Regular folks are suffering. These people really don't care about us. Sen Obama is a fresh change. Just like Mr. Moore says, if he is elected President and you don't like what he does, then vote him out in 4 years. Someone else should be the chance. We cannot be happy with the last 8 years unless you are rich.

McCain did not know about the skeletons in Palin's closte, in order to safe face he stands by her side, as long as the the public is gungho with that extremist woman, Republicans will support her. Once some more bad news come up, they will drop her like a hot potatoe and they will come up with a story why she had to give up her spot as VP. The mostlikely reason will be something related to family, since she is projecting to be so family oriented.

I'm tired of politics being about clever lines and sarcasm....

They are voting for mccain just to "get back" at obama and its rediculous, they should be ashamed of themselves, and they should not vote at all

OBSERVATIONS FROM CANADA

I think people are confused!!!

In his speech he made 56 statements against the current Republican government hence we are not sure what party McCain stands for??? His reference to “change” and “fight” and “maverick” translate into a question mark for many Republicans who see their party disintegrating. In short he is talking about changing the people in power which are Republicans. This is very schizophrenic.

I think his speech actually helped the Democrats make the point that the current Republican government has failed. Bizarre!!!!

Absolutely no idea what he means when he says "shake-up" Washington. Obama took over the DNC and the first thing he did is kick out the lobbyist. McCain is clearly being run by them.

Does nobody even remember this?

Saw them two today and it made me sick. She had to read from papers and it was the same words from the convention. Let the press get to her. Hope the people don't fall for this, another Bush. Wait till he gets at our social security.

Every one that was at my house for Labor Day (20 people) could not believe the gall Obama has to think with his little experience he can run this country. What gall all the Obama supporters have to think that everyone should be a sheep and follow Obama and his racist wife. You all talk about McCain but what about Biden, didn't he vote for the war.

What has the Democrat's done in the last two years. They have been in control and nothing has been done. Oh, wait Pelosi wrote a book and took a month off to promote it. What has Biden done in the last two years? What has Obama done in the last two years?

CNN,

Please do some reporting on the fact that PALIN LIED ABOUT CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.

Palin said she would be a friend to families with special needs, but reduced the budget for SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN IN ALASKA by over 60% as Governor.

CNN!! PLEASE EXPOSE THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS CANDIDATE FOR VP!

The only change people will see if Obama gets into office will be the loose change left in their pockets after he gets done paying off all his campaign promises.

McCain / Palin are a breath of fresh air. And they're just getting warmed up.

In spite of all the spin, the big lead the Dems were supposed to have never materialized and they've got nowhere to go but down.

Go get 'em John and Sarah!

NoBama!!! No way!!

Obama gets grilled for 2 years by media for two years straight, is a man of calm and decency.

Palin gets thrown at us as the next (possible) PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES - we didn't get to vote for her in any primaries - AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WE CAN'T ASK ANY TOUGH QUESTIONS ABOUT HER OR HER PAST!!!!!!!

McCain hasn't changed Washington in 26 years. Obama has changed Bush's "timetables" and our politics (no lobby money) - and now even McCain is touting obama's "change"...

Martha Stewart lies to one Federal agent about a personal financial matter and has to go to prison... George Bush lied to every American citizen and gets re-elected.... Sarah Palin tries to sell a jet on e-bay and McBush, McSame has to lie about it- sold it for a profit. If these two get elected it will be China breaking Washington. How much in the national debt? and to whom?
