Sens. Clinton and Obama campaigned together in Unity, New Hampshire in late June.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The Obama campaign is planning to send out some high-profile female supporters, including Hillary Rodham Clinton, to blunt Sarah Palin's potential to draw women's support to the Republican ticket.

Besides Clinton, Governors Janet Napolitano of Arizona and Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas are also scheduled to campaign for Obama in the coming weeks.

Obama's chief strategist says the campaign respects John McCain's V.P. pick. David Axelrod calls Palin "a skilled politician" who's "deft at going on the attack."

Sebelius got things started yesterday, saying of Palin's acceptance speech that she had "mastered the words written by the Bush speechwriters" but didn't address the issues voters speak about every day.

Clinton is set to arrive Monday in Florida.

Don't be a Stupid American !!!   September 5th, 2008 10:36 am ET

I's about time . Obamas camp seems slow at defusing this minor problem. Sarah Palin is running on empty. The problem is that she is running on the Republican ticket and they claim to be goody two shoes , but in reality Republicans have never been for the average struggling American. How I know cause I am one.During Reagan there where long lines at the Soup Kitchen and Gov Cheese. Bush 1 no better now Bush has taken greed and fear mongering to a new level . Mc Cain and the Repubs prey on voters like a buzzered waiting the death of a soon to be meal. But they have hope , it's like the media protects there crimes and redirects the truth. We all see it , except the Republicans they have this way of hiding the facts behind distortion. Shame on those how prey of the unknowing for there time will come like it always does. My question to the media is , should MC Cain win on there help and the country slips futher into this chaos will you apologize for not being frank about the truth ?

Bill   September 5th, 2008 10:36 am ET

Liberal all the way slant news coverage. CNN will never have the clout to report the news without a liberal view point. You should send Jeff Toobin to work with the Huffington Post if he does not work there all ready. Shameful reporting. Makes me want to watch Fox news, they are not as biased as CNN.

POST MY COMMENT CNN-BE FAIR!   September 5th, 2008 10:35 am ET

I am a woman and I will not vote for Palin for non-gender reasons.

She is a liar. She sure didn't build that Bridge to Nowhere but she sure did keep all the millions of dollars for it! She increased sales and grocery taxes on the people of Alaska and she hired lobbyists as a mayor for her town of Wasilla. I don't know why the MSM doesn't talk about the lies. Obama wrote 800 pieces of legislation and has cosponsered a lot of work while in the IL and U.S. Senate.

I know that CNN and other news outlets don't always like to report the facts so publicly posting this comment is highly unlikely.

Thank you.

SMR   September 5th, 2008 10:35 am ET

I have a lot of respect for Hillary Clinton. She was the one who received 18 million votes, won 23 primary’s, and gained the respect she as a public servant deserves. If she had won the Democratic ticket I would have supported her against the damage of the GOP for the last 8 years. That said Palin is not Hillary. Palin was what comes across to me as an end of the ticker decision by McCain and the GOP. Palin is trying to ride the Hillary wind. If Hillary is stepping up to defend Obama, excuse my language, she is going to hand Palin her expletive.

Enough of the GOP damage, independent for Obama.

Nick   September 5th, 2008 10:35 am ET

If the 'Barracuda' isn't even tough enough to face reporters, how the heck will she stand up to the Putin, Ahmadinejad, Chavez and Kim Il Jong of this world???

Isn't that the same 'Pitbull-mom' that we saw a month ago, live on TV, saying that she needed someone to explain to her what a VP does??

Good to see Hillary will be going after her. She's the right 'man' for the job!!! Take the 'Barracuda' back into her fish bowl!

Obama-Biden 08 !!!

Phyllis/ PA   September 5th, 2008 10:35 am ET

Hillary please do not become shallow and campaign too often for Obama. I wish you well but is it possible that you just might come down with the flue, etc. Do not let him continue to use you after he abused you.

ITS IMPORTANT AND NECESSARY FOR HILLARY CLINTON TO BE AT THE RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY.

McCAIN AND PALIN DIDN'T GET IT.

HOW DARE THEY ADVOCATING FOR FOUR MORE YEARS OF BAD POLICIES THAT HAS PLUNGED US INTO THE DARKEST HOLE IN HISTORY.

CERTAINLY AMERICANS CAN'T AFFORD FOUR MORE YEARS OF DISASTROUS ECONOMIC POLICIES NOR ACCEPT FOUR MORE YEARS OF ISOLATION FROM THE GLOBAL COMMUNITIES.

stephanie   September 5th, 2008 10:35 am ET

Let the game begin, I can not wait to see Hillary eat Palin UP!!! and spit her OUT!!! Palin is good but she is not that GOOD. We talk about Barrack and his stuttering LORD "poor Palin" once Hillary get started with her we are going to see who the REAL BARRACUDA is

NO way, NO how, NO McCain/Palin!

Veterans 4 Obama   September 5th, 2008 10:35 am ET

Go Hillary! We know that she (Palin) is nothing like you. How can a woman stand next to John McCain knowing how he feels about women's rights? It boggles my mind!

Obama-Junkie, IL   September 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

Game on. I like the line-up for Obama; McCaskill, Sebelius, Napolitano, and hitting clean-up, Hillary Clinton.

I hope the Obama campaign reinforces its strategy in the general election which is no demonizing. Palin's record, policies, and positions will come out soon with a little proding so that "reformist" image will be seen as an evangelical right-wing conservative.

Callie- 23- Savannah, GA   September 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

Dem   September 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

Keep focused! Palin does NOT have policies women want and is out of touch with the US!

Against sex education and funding
Against healthcare reform
Against fixing education systems - wants to bus students to good schools
Against Social Security reform
Wants library books banned
0 foreign policy experience (been out of the country briefly 2 times)
5 colleges in 6 years
EXTREMELY religious
Acting as a GOP puppet right now (her speech was also written b4 she was picked)
Left her Mayor position heavily in debt
Claims Alaska has a balanced budget - neglects to mention her '08 and '09 of $200m in earmarks EACH

Don't vote on her GENDER alone! There WILL be BETTER females in the future!

Used2bdemocrat   September 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

With all due respect to Senator Clinton, no matter her allegiance to the democrat party, I for one can never vote for a racist, marxist, socialist fraud. If I were Senator Clinton I would be very careful of what I did to help obama. Surely she has not forgot what her party with the help of the elitist press did to her in the primaries. Only an idiot would vote for someone because another tells them to.

Luis Berrios   September 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

Is this the best the Republicans can do? Well folks, the gloves have come off of the Republicans, via their newly acquired 'attack dog' called Sarah Palin. She has been trained and trained very well by the Republican's speechwriters. One thing is for sure, she can 'read' very well. 'Her' words are carefully crafted to ignite the Republicans. Unfortunately all of it focuses on attacks, and not on substance on how they plan to address and resolve the issues that this country faces both domestically and globally. The question is, is Sara Palin and the Republicans prepared to get hit back, and I sure hope they will, not with attacks for the sake of attacking and getting even, but with facts?

Leadership is the ability to inspire and influence others by deeds, and by principles, not by rethoric and attacks on someone's integrity, and hard work to help make people's lives better. Community Organizing is one example of that, to help people value and help themselves. Barack Obama could have easily followed the high money and prestige road after graduating from college, yet he chose to go 'serve' in Chicago. That is inspiring to me. He inspired me by his charisma and future vision of this country and so what if he does not have the 'experience' needed to 'succeed' as President? I propose to you that being successfull as President or in any other endeavor is not about having all answers, but having the wisdom and open mind to surround yourself with those who can bring great ideas to the table and take full responsibility for implementing those ideas in good faith, for the common good. That is in my mind and in my heart what Barack Obama is about.

It is time that we hit back and hit hard until all of the bluff/hot air from the Republicans' balloon comes out completely. Sara Palin is just that, a 'hot air balloon', and 'all mouth'. The Republicans are trying to shift the attention from real issues affecting us daily to an 'image' and whomever has the better 'punch lines'.

I certainly hope that we continue to lay our agenda clearly on the table for everyone to see. The bottom line is that this country has hit bottom with a Republican agenda, which has enriched the rich beyond our wildest imagination with their absurd tax cuts even at a time when 10 billion dollars are being spent to support the Iraq war each and every month, and allowing our economy (the dollar plummeting in value, our financial institutions running wild and out of control) to collapse like in no other period in history since the Great Depression.

If Sara Palin wants to compare a soccer mom to a Pit Bull, that's her own life example. My wife is a soccer mom too, and she is no pit bull, she does not carry a gun, she does not hunt nor fish, yet she is a loving and supportive mother, not a Pit Bull with lipstick, period. I am sure many women felt outraged by Sara Palin's self-righteous remarks. If Sara Palin wants to play ball, and looking to pick a fight, then let's play ball. I just hope and expect our Democratic Party Leaders, from Barack Obama, to Joe Biden, Hillary and Bill Clinton on down, to very eloquently and respectfully, tear Sara Palin and John McCain apart!!!!

God Bless America and the Obama-Biden Ticket. To victory in November.!!!!!!

Billy   September 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

Why is the McCain campaign hiding Gov Palin?

One week and no interviews or press conferences.

If she is ready to lead, why isn't she ready to answer to the public?
We deserve to ask questions about her experience and record!

Mike Whitehead   September 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

For the life of me, I cannot understand why male democratic politicians are so afraid of attacking Palin. When she entered the political battleground, she lost whatever protections she may have had as a "woman". She is simply, just another politician running for office. She does not hesitate to attack Obama. He should not hesitate to take the attack to her simply because of her gender. As long as he sticks to facts, there can be no charge of sexism. He should not simply relegate this tactic to those of his female surrogates. Biden should be chewing this person up and spitting them out. That is his role.

Montana Thinker   September 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

Thank goodness these strong, well-educated women are going out to campaign for the dems. Hillary Clinton, just to name one, is the type of woman this country needs to hear from. She is brilliant, successful and well-educated. Unlike Sarah Palin, Hillary has a law degree, experience in the Senate, foreign affairs, the economy. Palin is a very poor substitute for Clinton. McCain chose Palin to be our Clinton replacement, but the two women could not be different.

Eli   September 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

Oh no he is now decided he needs Hillary Clinton. If john mccain had not picked a woman for VP, Obama would have never used Hillary. Hillary should have been the Democratic nominee for President but it was given to O and then he had the audicity to think he didnt need her 18 million voters. This is one lifelong Democrat that in no terms will vote for O. I will not vote this time. I will go sign my name and vote for my senator and walk away. NO WAY NO HOW NEVER OBAMA.

Nicole   September 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

Let's unite Dems! Thank You Hillary Clinton, I always knew you were a team player! We have to win this election! McCain was right when he stated the current administration failed the American people but he forgot to mention that he is part of that administration! We can't afford another 4 yrs of Bush policies.

Margaret   September 5th, 2008 10:33 am ET

Just because McCain has put a female on his ticket, I hope that he doesn’t think that women are dumb enough to turn into Stepford wives to vote for them.

I think some women are using the " sexsim' to avoid any critisim. once you join politics one should expect it . why should they expect no hiting back when they talk negative? The game is for equal opportunity so it does not matter how it is played ,otherwish they should take the heat . why hit the men and not expect a word back?

The Nightingale Sings in Berkley Square   September 5th, 2008 10:33 am ET

Let's not forget that a lot of the damage begins in the Congress, whom I think is run by the Democrats.

Isn't Sarah inspirational? She is bringing youth, vitality and executive experience to the table. She is living next door to Canada and Russia and as Governor of that large state, she is well aware of the North American Air Defense System. Of which Obama is clueless.

The press hasn't anointed her as historic, as they did Obama. Ouch.

Believe me, the world is a dangerous place and we need a strong leader to make sure we stay free so we can exercise our god given blessings. McCain will protect our values and our country. I think that Obama is a roll of the dice or should we say risky as it would be a gamble with our country with him at the helm.

TJ   September 5th, 2008 10:32 am ET

Hiliary needs to set herself down. After listening to Sarah, Hiliary is just plain "silly" now. She's wishy-washy, and all she wants is to be in the limelight anyway. And if you think for one minute Sarah is the least bit intimidated by Mrs. Clinton, think again. If she can hold her own with the "good ole boys" then Hiliary will get what she deserves if she tangles with Palin. Let Sarah do what she did for Alaska. She is a go-getter, just what America needs. It's a good thing to see Obama running scard. The truth of it all is - he can't hold a candle to Palin. He hasn't accomplished anything compared to what she's done. Why would America vote for the Democratic party who wants to give it all away, when we can support a party whose willing to fight for the people. McCain and Palin are going to protect our country, our rights, our freedom and our money. They are people who have proved by their work what they can accomplish and what they are willing to do for us. A man who served his country in the worse conditions compared to a man whose done nothing, achieved nothing, and can't make up his mind, America there is no comparison! I

You Gotta Be Kidding Me   September 5th, 2008 10:32 am ET

Hillary Hypocrit, said during the primaries that McCain would be a much better commander-in-chief than Obama. Bill said Obama practices Chicago thug politics and played the race card. Now they both endorse Obama and Hillary Hypocrit is going to be the attack dog against Palin. Only reason she is doing it is fear of Howard Dean, Hillary Hypocrit is trying to save her career by being Dean's lapdog so he doesn't stab her in the back next Senate election like he did Lieberman. So transparent and you definitely have cost yourselves 4 votes in this household.

McCain in '08 and anybody else in '12 but Obama and Clinton

naomi   September 5th, 2008 10:32 am ET

CB2   September 5th, 2008 10:31 am ET

Yes!!! Bring it. Palin let's just see how you hold up against Hillary Rodham Clinton. Ah…nada!!! Zero!!!! Against Hillary:-)

This is what people don't understand. Hillary will be in Obama's cabinet when he wins the presidency. And Hillary is going to do everything in her power for John McCain not to get into office.

Hillary is all for women getting into the white house, but experience women that is. Therefore, Hillary would like to make history as the first. Besides she is more qualified than Palin anyday. Hillary will run after Obama has finished his 8 years. Democrats will regain power again for all mankind.

Steve   September 5th, 2008 10:30 am ET

I'm not a big Hillery fan as I am of Obama. But I would much rather see her in the White House and in charge any day of the week than Palin. Hillery with Bill behind her and her ideas, despite her desperate attempts to win over Obama would have my confidence the country is safe and in good trustable hands. McWar would be even worst.

Mickie in PA   September 5th, 2008 10:30 am ET

Good for Hillary and Katherine Napalitano of McCain's home state.

Anonymous   September 5th, 2008 10:30 am ET

Ron L   September 5th, 2008 10:30 am ET

This is a good strategic move on the part of the Obama campaign. But what is much more important is the News Media MUST go out and find out the REAL history of Gov. Palin. And it has to be demanded by the American electorate!!
Being so new to a majority of Americans and with the election so close, Gov. Palin has to appear on all of the Sunday Morning News programs and answer specific questions about her past and positions on KEY topics that effect all of America and the world. We know very little about her and if the McCain campaign prevents her from going on these shows they DO NOT deserve the votes or trust of the electorate.

Palin is much more appealing to working mom's than any of the women mentioned in this blog. This is a futile move, the Republicans have secured the working women that you neglected, Obama. If you weren't so arrogant you might actually have this in the bag.

Chris B.   September 5th, 2008 10:30 am ET

I registered eight Obama supporters to vote this week. That is up from four Obama supporters from last week. How many do you plan to register?

Getting duped-here's proof   September 5th, 2008 10:29 am ET

Sarah Palin has been lying about her experience and reform record.

What is the sign of deception?: The fact that McCain's camp will not let Sarah be interview by tv media.

If she's experienced and ready to lead, she will face much worse than a tv interview when it comes to actually being in office.
What are you afraid of McCain?
We are getting duped-they gave us a celebrity who runs from the media because they are afraid of what she might say before TRAINING…. Wow-yeah right, she is so ready to lead.

btw, Susan B. Anthony was a community organizer who made a lot of change for women..

Matthew   September 5th, 2008 10:29 am ET

Too late BO. Should have put Hillary on the ticket. McCain saw an opening and took it. I suspect it will pay off big time. You played it safe and chose an old time Washington insider, contradicting your entire campaign's message of change.

James   September 5th, 2008 10:29 am ET

Governor Sebilus was my pick for V.P and i'm glad that she is going to show sarah palin what a true politician sound like. i can't wait to see her and hillary going after unproven, untested sarah. please ladies, give her hell.
i'm tired of this viagra commercial the mccain campaign has put together, we have real problem in this country and mccain has no real solution. his imposter V.P has no clue nor the experience to make a difference in any community. they are out of touch, they don't really care to change washington or to work with other parties. mccain is running to put his name in the history book, to add the mccain brand in the same level as the kennedy, clinton, bush brands.
senator mccain is no change, he is more of the same and possibly worst. his cry to the american people to fight with him last nigh scare the living hell out of me. this guy wants nothing but war and i can't afford to lose another friend or countryman.

Antione Bonner   September 5th, 2008 10:28 am ET

I think thats a great idea sending out female supporters. Hillary is a legend in politics so palin is going to need a miracle to get 1 percent of Hillary's voters. Republicana agenda is to different from Democrats it's not smart.

Ms Sweetie   September 5th, 2008 10:28 am ET

Sen. Clinton is one of the finest politicians I know and for the RNC and a hitherto unknown governor to suggest that her supporters were just supporting because she is a woman is offensive to say the least. Sen. Clinton represents what public life is all about, service and we want the government to serve us. I hope Sen. Clinton puts her in her place quickly, how dare she suggest that 18 million will support her because she is a woman, get real Gov Palin show us you are on the same platform, let alone planet as Sen Clinton.

tim   September 5th, 2008 10:27 am ET

Please give Clinton the Sec of State! Obama needs her now!

Matt, Pittsburgh   September 5th, 2008 10:27 am ET

Now who is playing the sex card? talk about low. but then again we are talking about liberals where words like morals and scrupples don't exist.

By the way, Sarah Palin wrote her own speech for Wednesday night, not Karl Rove. Also, the teleprompter went out during the speech and delivered the majority of it, off the cuff and from memory.

Let's see Hussein try that one time.

Bridget   September 5th, 2008 10:27 am ET

The Dems have strong women because they think women should be treated fairly, unlike Republicans who use women as props. This will come out as the race goes on. McCain had his pick of more experienced Republican women, but chose to go with a trophy VP.

On an unrelated note, here's today's LOL moment : Tom Ridge called John McCain "John Bush". LOLOLOLOL.

Anthony from DC   September 5th, 2008 10:27 am ET

It's over for Palin now!!!
Once Hillary digs into her, she won't have a leg to stand on. She said that Hillary was a "whiner" but then tried to use Hillary's presidential run to help her get the VP job. Palin is pathetic!

If Hillary says she's not worthy and calls her out on trying to decieve female voters - no woman in her right mind will vote for a McCain-Palin ticket.

jaguar   September 5th, 2008 10:27 am ET

Obama has made his pick for VP siding with concerns about his national security experience. But he left another gap/flank wide open for attack; the hillary clinton/female awakening. You would have to be a die hard democrat or Obama supporter to be excited about the Obama/Biden ticket.
Its time the democrats acknowledge the role the female voice plays in the party. In 2012, a woman needs to be on the democratic presidential ticket. And there are many around with requisite experience.

Ivette absentee voter in Panama   September 5th, 2008 10:26 am ET

Go Hillary! You really understand us women. We are smart voters who vote for the issues, not just for gender! A few words of advice during for your campaign efforts in favor of Obama:

First, please, please, please don't even speak about "she who must not be named". She is not only truly unimportant, but hugely irrelevant. We must all help the nation "keep the eye on the ball" and not lose sight of what's really important…a.k.a. let's get Obama elected so we can get this great nation upward, onward, and forward together!

Second, if you must name her for any specific reason, please remind people of how the Webster's Dictionary defines "barracuda": one that uses aggressive, selfish, and sometimes unethical methods to obtain a goal especially in business." Hmmm, very telling.

And third, I heard this early this morning so I cannot write it as mine, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Lest we forget that Jesus was a community leader and organizer…Pontius Pilate was a Governor. Hmmm

Happy trails Hillary! Go Obama!

Anne   September 5th, 2008 10:26 am ET

Fantastic! Women everywhere need to listen to the issues and understand what Palin stands for. Her views are extreme. She wanted to ban books, no abortion even if the mother's life is in danger, creationism taught in public schools - the list goes on and on.
She is SCARY! She doesn't want to unite this country. I only heard divisive words in her speech. The issue isn't about her being a woman. The issue is what she stands for. She is a lot like Bush, and boy, that really is SCARY!!!
Go OBAMA/BIDEN!

John from White Plains, NY   September 5th, 2008 10:26 am ET

Way to Go!!! Let's face it…McCain's selection of Palin is a desperate attempt to woo female voters who were not pleased that Hillary was not the nominee. This woman (Palin) is admitedly a card carrying NRA member who is herself under a cloud of suspicion for her attempt to get hr former brother in law fired from his state trooper position. She was a "mayor" of a town of 9000 people…so what? There a more than 9000 people on one subway in NY!!! Her town is half the size of the Dallas/Ft Worth Airport…there are less than 1million people in Alaska, most of whom have been frozen for years. She does not agree w/ a woman's right to choose, even in the event of rape!!! This is awful!!

The clear choice is Obama!!! Can we really afford to habe another 4 years of the same old blah, blah blah? We all know that Bush has been an unmitigated disaster and that Cheney is the devil's evil twin…

Good to hear that Hillary, Napolitano and Sebellius are coming out on the stump…

Obama/Biden rock!!!

Jane   September 5th, 2008 10:26 am ET

Thank you, Hillary (and others). With you and Obama as leaders in our party, we are in good shape.

I personally think that Hillary will almost certainly run in 2016. Does anyone else think that Palin's appearance on the scene might inspire her to work even harder for Obama since she probably (and very reasonably) still wants to be the first woman in office?

Erin in Edmonds WA   September 5th, 2008 10:26 am ET

Good, I'm glad Hillary will be going on the stump for Obama against this little white trash girl from Alaska. Sarah Palin may talk tough, but Hillary will dessimate her and she will run home with her tail between her legs.

Note to Dems: Do not go easy on this little yapping terrier - if she wants to be one of the big boys, then she'll have to prove that she can take it on the chin. She was good at reading a speech and got lots of practice reading off teleprompters as a sportscaster, but a 4-year degree in journalism is no match for 2 lawyers with Ivy league educations and US senate experience. I want the republicans to be toast, not the Democrats, so treat her like a man.

Women have been bashed and trashed by the Democratic Party but NOW… all of a sudden they are needed for this high profile task.

Where were you keeping all the women up to this point?

Democrats should have an easy victory but they are scrambling to do anything they have to in order to win. What's wrong with that picture?

McCain had very short answers on policies yesterday. As an independent, I had no clearity of where he stands on issues, including social issues such as gay rights.

As a woman, I am not surprised by Obama's "turning negative" as he himself says is wrong. But to do it against a woman by using other women that support him is simply more than I can stand. I will vote for McCain because he really does get it. Women have been "slighted" for too long and now we have a chance to be in a position of real importance! Hillary should of learned that the "good old boys club" would make sure she was out of the way because of her gender. McCain "the maverick" puts his thoughts into action and enlists the support of women by hiring a woman as his number 2.. The "SUPER DELEGATE" good old boys club cheated Hillary out of the popular vote win and gave it to Obama. I hate to say it, but Obama doesn't walk on water and his campaign tactics have convinced me that he doesn't have what it takes to be President. GO MCCAIN-PALIN!!!

CeeJay   September 5th, 2008 10:25 am ET

I’ve been a democrat for a while and want change in Washington more than anyone, but I got to admit I have some serious concerns with Obama. As an economist/engineer, I have to agree with Romney if we want a strong economy we need an environment that will let the businesses in America operate more efficiently without the government tying their hands. Obama’s tax plan will be disastrous to the job market as history has shown in the past. I see over-regulation causing businesses to close all the time. I had to close a business myself and layoff 8 employees. We need to examine the issues closer. I really believe the McCain/Palin ticket will significantly improve things in Washington and they have a record of doing so in the past. This just is not the time to risk our country with someone who in some 47 years never demonstrated he can change anything in a positive way. Obama is a wonderful speaker but his job will affect our future for years. My 401Ks have taken a nose dive ever since we got control of the Senate and House a year of two ago. Out of curiousity I researched the fact and discovered that democrats on average have actually voted with Bush over 90% of the time, so I think our argument of 4 more of the same just doesn’t hold water. I’m changing my vote to republican at least for this term and going with someone I can trust has the people of America first, not someone who has some very disturbing terrorist ties. I’ve come to admit that McCain and Palin are the better choice this year and plan to back them in this election.

Emma   September 5th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Let's just see how much support Senator Clinton really has from women and the impact she will have on their vote.

We will be watching Senator Clinton to see how strongly she attacks Palin and can she hold the female vote for Obama. This will be a true test of Hillary's committment and loyalty to the Democratic party. Her enthusiasm must displayed honestly to have women believe she is truly supporting Obama.

What about the 3 a.m. telephone call Hillary………..can you sleep peacefully at night knowing that Palin can possibly be the one answering that call.

You better be forceful on the campaign trail because you still have a lot to prove to me!

Blue Dog Dem   September 5th, 2008 10:24 am ET

What Hillary, Janey Napolitano and Kathleen Sebulius can do is expose Palin for the extremist person that she is without being accused of being sexist.

Palin is not only a part of the far right, she is a member of the extreme rigid right. Palin is not only pro-life, but is an extreme pro-life person - no abortion, no exceptions. She has line-itemed vetoed funding for special needs children programs.

If a man starts to critize her on these "family values" topics, the Repubs will pull the sexism card. However, no claim of sexism can be made when Hillary and Co make the case.

Tell me, is Barack going to give you any of the 8 million dollars he raised because of the Sarah Palin speech, or do you have to work it off?

You knuckleheads amaze me.

First you write her off as being too inexperienced for the job, then after one speech, you compare her to the sitting President of the United States of America.

Oh yeah a special 'Thank You' to the good Senator from Illinois…

Nice to have you onboard in regards to your confirmation that the Surge was a "sucess beyond my wildest dreams."

The "Wolf Killer" needs to just go back to Alaska. The McCain people are so shallow, and sexist they only picked Palin because of her looks, nothing else is redeeming about the former mayor from a little "fishing village town", and a governor who is a puppet of "big oil" who defeated an incumbent who was also a puppet of "big oil". So McCain-Palin will just be more of the same with just a different face, different name ….

Pat   September 5th, 2008 10:22 am ET

It is obvious that McCain selected Palin to attract the women voters, particularly the undecided women voters. It was clear during the convention that this was a fundamental goal by the republicans. I can't believe women are not insulted by this-it implicitily undermines their intellligence. Just for that reason alone, they should not vote for the republicans. Hillary Clinton will remind the voters the major differences in policies between her and Palin and then its game over–Obama wins and I can't wait.

beevee   September 5th, 2008 10:22 am ET

I think Palin is just a puppet dancing to the strings of backstage politicians. Blurting out a speech written by someone else is'nt that difficult. Where does she stand on national issues that matter to ordianry americans and women in particular most. From her speech I have'nt a clue. Can she stand up to media questioning on national and international issues, without handed over speeches, during the campaign. I seriously doubt. It is scary even to think that she is only one breath away from being President of this nation. Pardon my bluntness.

I voted "present", because it's just so hard to make a decison.   September 5th, 2008 10:22 am ET

Hillary is bitter, and Obama can't possibly talk about HER inexperience!!

Angela from PA   September 5th, 2008 10:22 am ET

I am a Hillary supporter and always will be but when is Obama going to begin his work to earn our vote? Obama is the nominee and he chose BIden as his VP.

Obama cannot and should not expect Hillary to win this for him- we need to hear from Obama directly.

It appears that Obama and his team did not think they would need the women's vote- all the sudden with the polls showing McCain gaining ground and then with Palin, Obama is now all concerned about the womens vote.

Obama could have won this back in the summer had he put his ego aside and chosen HIllary as VP. Many of us have a lingering mistrust toward Obama for several reasons including the way he treated HIllary. Especially considering that the truth is that he never considered her for VP- that bull____ line of " she's on the short list" was just that- a line to deflect the truth. It is insulting and condescending. Obama should have had the guts to just say upfront and straight out that he was not considering Hillary.

Well, now he needs us so perhaps we can begin to hear from Obama , the candidate himself.

FL Dem   September 5th, 2008 10:22 am ET

Women who support Palin are being used by the GOP. Just compare how the difference between the GOP and democratic campaign. GOP is all negative and dishonesty. Obama's is all about inspiration and honesty. GOP puts the country last by putting up a VP who has no experience only because she is a woman and she supports the agenda of the strong right wing. John macain's speech yesterday was a total contradiction to the entire convention. You completely attack democrats with total lies and then you say you are a strong bi-partisan person. May be the 2000 McCain was bi-partisan , but not the McCain who has sol his soul this year. CNN you better post this. I have been writing so many times without ever getting posted.

May God help the people of America make the right decision-Barak-Biden

jl   September 5th, 2008 10:20 am ET

McCain= CHANGE!!!

But only because he is a chameleon!

He will CHANGE in order to seemingly meet the needs of the voters at the time. But in the end he still has voted with Bush 90% of the time and that shows where his true beliefs rest.

The other 10% I guess he is a maverick. But I don't want a "maverick" I want a president that will consult with advisers and both sides of the aisle in order to do what is right for ALL Americans.

He cannot be trusted. And I believe female voters are smarter than he gives us credit.

No policies were laid out and I want to know specifically where he differs from the Republican platform.

And believe it or not, this campaign is about the issues.

So if he is such a fighter, why is he running away from the issues he so strongly believes in?

If he is too scared to lay out his plans and fight for his ideals now, then how will he handle Congress and get anything done?

They have to. Men can't say anything bad about women or they are called sexist. Some women need to get a grip. You can't run on being a woman and then turn around and say you can't say anything negative about me because I am a woman. That is very hypocritical just like the McCain camp has been. This is there strategy. Talk out both sides of their mouth and anyone who says anything bad about Palin is a sexist.

I am not persuaded that a McCain / Palin ticket will be enough to win the election. Some people are attracted to this because of a women being selected as a running mate which is good I have to admit. Not sure if Palin needs more time as Governor before getting a promotion.

In my view, Governor Palin's family issues (pregnant daughter and new born) is sure to have a psychological impact on her and the family.

Hopefully, McCain, 72, will retire now.

What is Palin's lawyer doing in Alaska meddling in the independent investigation against Palin for abuse of power? Why isn't this being reported. She said she would be open and straightforward and now she has a lawyer up their trying to meddle and put up roadblocks. Palin also want her state board to do the investigation which are people she appointed. How would that be independent?

This is a strong reminder of what Bush and Cheney are doing in Washington. Any corrpution or abuse of power investigation done on them and they cry excetutive privelage or hire people to the Justice Department that are very partisan and block any independent investigations from happening.

Since Hillary Clinton wasn't worthy to be Barack Obama's running mate why should she allowed herself to be used by him and his advisers. Wasn't Obama the one who hired the woman who run Hillary campaign in the ground. Where are all the other powerful women senators and governors who supported him in the campaign?.

Truth Be Told   September 5th, 2008 10:17 am ET

about time!

how about those protesters at the gop convention last night? and how about mccain calling them static? obama was interrupted by protesters during his primary campaign. he did not name them static. as a matter of fact, he told them that he will give them a chance to voice their opinion if they will let him voice his first (since he's the candidate). and that's exactly what he did, gave them a chance to voice their opinions at that venue.

i think the best scenario in all of these campaigns in the coming two months would be a face to face press interview, on television, between hillary and palin. forget about biden-palin debate. let the networks do a live interview between these two women. it would be like a hungry cougar facing a tiny, lost kitten! meow!

I'm still in shock at the nasty and coarse speech Palin gave as her introduction to America and the world. Is she the best the Republicans have to offer up as VP? We already have a tarnished profile abroad. We already have an economy run into the ditch. It's the first of September and hundreds of thousands of voters haven't been able to pay their rent or mortgage. Now a trash talking Palin pared with an elderly Senator who can't remember basics such as what he voted on and how many homes he has is offered to the voters! Yes, I'm appalled.

Obama is such a smart man. I want SMART in the WHITE HOUSE. No more dummies!!!!!!!!!!!

Gooooooooooo ladies, remind women how this pitbull believes women are not worth making thier own choices, even if victim of rape of incest. How she does not think women deserve equal pay, among many other archaic ideas.

Hillary, McCaskill, Sebelius will put Sarah in the RIGHT place where she belongs! Go Democrat women!

ashley   September 5th, 2008 10:16 am ET

How desperate. Well, dont think for one second the conservative women wont come out in full effect to support their candidate. Now people care what Hillary has to say??? she ought to feel used.

Just reading a few comments on various articles, it's clear that many far left supporters of Obama were upset at CNN for being unbiased on the whole debate.

I applaud CNN's efforts to give unbiased journalism, because that is your job… unless you have a specific show with a host that leans one way or another.

The big wigs on NBC and CBS have been very negative of anything said of the Republican Party on all fronts with no mention of Ron Paul. All they care about it a changing of the guard, regardless if Obama is a leader or a clown.

Well, for now, I have found a home to watch some political issues on CNN.

Demorat to the bone   September 5th, 2008 10:16 am ET

way to go! Obama. Floridians haave your back. let's get this show on the road and show the republicans that they will not do it to us this year. We love you.

Oh, Obama NEEDS Hillary huh?……Obama NEEDS Hillary, Obama NEEDS Hillary.

geecee827   September 5th, 2008 10:16 am ET

Good! We have plenty of strong, intelligent, capable and tough women in the Democratic Party and we don't have to shrink from Sarah Palin. She can't hold a candle to Hillary. Go get her ladies!

OBAMA/BIDEN '08.

ladymary   September 5th, 2008 10:16 am ET

While I was not a Hillary supporter, I do believe she is an intelligent, skilled politician with a good grasp of the problems facing this country. I think Hillary will chew up Sarah for breakfast and spit her out for lunch. I almost feel sorry for Sarah…she better import a polar bear or two to help her. Hillary will "field dress" her!!!!!!!!

Vote NO for Osama   September 5th, 2008 10:16 am ET

Can we say cat fight?? Sounds like there are a few jealous hens in the democratic party. This is Osama's attempt to right his wrong of not choosing Hillnasty as VP. Momentum has shifted folks, and the dems are attacking negatively just to keep pace.
