The more I watch the campaigning the more I feel America is bias like the men and women in the middle east, (women being seen but not heard). I only hope here in America the women can a lest have name band sheets, slipper and boots to wear . I am not eligible to vote yet. But I have been reading a lot about what is going on in politics and our economy. Yesterday, the republicans said that they want less government in our business. But with the current economy as it stands today, the lack of regulations in some areas have caused a lot of problem in our economy. Now government is spending a lot of money to bail out the private sector that the republicans do not want to regulate. I feel McCain, Palin and some of the other republicans are not been sincere with us. They are telling a lot of lies in between the lines. My fear is that people are not paying attention. We failed to pay attention when we elected Bush.

I think Gov.Palin will be attractive to the Christian Evangelicals and Fundamentalists that love to hear Bible teaching which is perfectly ok.

1. He's going to solve the energy crisis by drilling more. Even T Boone Pickens says that won't work.
2. He's going to continue the Bush tax cuts for the rich. Isn't that what got us in the economic mess we're in now?
3. He wants to tax the portion of health-care premiums that are paid by employers. For me that means my income would be tax at an additional $1200 annually. Thanks McCain!!
4. I have no idea what his plan is for global warming and the environmental problems we face. Maybe John would like a do over? I think he forgot to mention that.

The one thing I do agree with was his call for change, however, I don't think anyone told him Obama has been calling for that for almost 2 years now.

Factually, Obama has been involved in Goverment, in some position or another, for more than 12 years. From Illinois' Senate to the US Senate. He is a sitting member on the International Relations Committee. He has been very active in legislation, including some pieces reaching across the isle (for instance with McCain on immigration – the Maverick can't say he didn't know...).

Historically, some of the best Presidents of the United States have had the same amount of State "experience" as Obama currently has... or less. Among them, Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, George Washington... and of course the most comparable of all, arguably one of best (if not the best) Presidents in US History, Abraham Lincoln himself!

So I get kind of tired to see the pseudo-experience card played over and over again. Being President isn't so much about experience as it is about Vision and Integrity. You can ask whether Obama and McCain fulfill these criteria, but the whole experience thing is WAY overrated these days.

Unless the economy improves dramatically before election day (not likely, even with the Bush manipulations) and national security doesn't get worse, Obama will be firmly on the high road. Count on it.

McCain was a POW, but when you compare his experience to Kerry, Kerry was out on the swift boat, making decisions that will save or kill his men. Kerry executed bravery. He put his life on the line to save others. Kerry is a true HERO.

Why is it that nobody is talking about McCain's ties to the Mafia. Look it up on wikipedia: Cindy McCain's father is Jim Hensley who was connected to the mob and was sentenced to 6 months in federal prison for falsifying liquor distribution documents. I think McCain's speech was successful in showing how much he had suffered in Vietnam. And he suffered a lot. However, it never really came close to offering solutions to the nation's problems. Touching personal history, but no strong vision of how to help struggling families or provide healthcare. I get the feeling that he cares much more about foreign policy than the economy.

When I watched Palin's speech on the other hand, I was terrified. Truly the birth of a demagogue. She outright lied about her credentials (she was for the bridge to nowhere, not against it – she only reluctantly canceled it after Congress refused to pay for it) and did nothing to rebut claims that she tried to ban books in her town library, which is horrifying to me. And she did not blink as she did this. A truly immoral person.

And the media concentrates on her ability to deliver a speech, not her numerous factual distortions and mischaracterizations (including of the opposition's policies). That made me even more scared. Does no one care about the truth anymore? Then maybe America deserves Palin.

I think the issue of GUNS is a very important issue to discuss. The fact that Sarah Palin loves guns so much may turn off a lot of women, especially mothers, who feel that guns may be a threat to their family's and children's safety.

I think Sen. Biden should gage Sarah Palin on the issue of guns to divide women from her.

I wore the John McCain POW bracelet in high school for the years he was a POW and even with a star on it for several more years indicating he came home. I wanted to hear his platform last night because I respected the man. He was MY soldier! But last night and through this entire convention, I was ashamed.

I listened to both Palin and McCain even though I have pledged to fight with all of my body and soul to get Obama elected. I listened with hope for our country that maybe, just maybe we could have two candidates for president with plans for change. I kept hearing the word change but never heard a plan out of McCain. All I heard from Palin was MEAN insults. I fear our country's future. I did not sleep the past two nights for fear that these people will get in office.

I caught the tail end of an interview with Obama and Biden last Sunday. The interviewer asked Obama a question, and I’ll have to give you the gist of it because it’s been a few days to remember the exact words. Basically he asked Obama why he didn’t mention anything about being African-American in his acceptance speech at the convention.

Obama paused, smiled, and said “Isn’t it obvious?”

I thought that was THE best answer! This bi-racial man has had the unique opportunity to see life from both sides, or as he said, it’s in his DNA. He’s a black man who was raised in a white culture. I think he just sees himself as a man trying to make a difference.

And for the record, I am a Army veteran and West Point grad, so by no means am I bashing his service but that does not make him the best person for the White House!

I was listening and what I heard was half-truths and lies.

"My friends" I am not going to raise taxes. Obama said he would only raise taxes on people who earn $250,000.00 or more. Now if McCain is not raising taxes this means the same Bush tax cuts. This means the rich get richer and the poorer get poorer.

Everyday working people (myself included) exactly how is McCains plan going to help you? Have you visted his website and read his plan for America.? Oh, and last night did you catch he wants to end federal unemployment. His plan is crap. It sounds nice but its crap.

Perhaps the Democrats (those who "refuse to learn economics") also refuse to accept the GOP idea that elections and people can be bought. Or that life is only about what we can pay for. No one–not even the Democrats–disputes the efficiency of market economics. But lots of people do dispute the notion that the value of a life, a community, or a nation can be valued in dollars.

One more reason not to vote for the Republicans. THEY made the statement - and are hoping enough of the people are dumb enough to agree with them.

Wasn't it Obama who was the "change" candidate in the first place? Why is it that now a whole "19 months later", here comes John McCain talking about the exact same thing? True, it is not about the complex issues that Obama likes to discuss (health care, global warming, erosion of Contitution and freedoms, US standing in the world, etc). It is about the simple issues: country and national pride, taxes (who likes taxes?), and security. These are so simple and universal that are common between both candidates. It then becomes a personallity and trust contest on who can handle these simple issues. The folk wisdom, regardless of true merit, says that Republicans are better at all of them (country, taxes and security).

Speaking of not being patriotic...Palin's husband belongs to a group that wants Alaska to secede from the United States. Why isn't anyone bashing his patriotism the way they did Michelle Obama?

I got to shake your hand in Iowa, but what I remember most is how you went out of your way to personally thank the police officers who were just doing thier jobs. I saw you in Chicago outside of some random building. A crowd gathered and waited for 2 hours because they knew you were inside. When you came out, you spent 15 minutes shaking hands and thanking people for their support.

You know this campaign is about all Americans, not just the far right wing base.

We were all listening. What we did not hear is any difference in the substance of what J-Mac said and what Bush is doing right now – except he'll spend less.
