Alaska State Trooper Mike Wooten is Palin's ex-brother-in-law.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) — Alaska lawmakers Friday moved up their deadline for finishing an investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of the state's public safety commissioner and warned they will begin issuing subpoenas for witnesses next week.

The report into Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan's dismissal had been scheduled for October 31. But now that Palin is the Republican nominee for vice president, lawmakers want to avoid an "October surprise" that could sway the November presidential election, the investigation's managers said.

So typical of the republicans… Dealing with a state investigation by excercising the same type of "executive privelege" that our two term president George the Incompetent has come to be known for. Besides the highlight of her political carreer being her first term governorship of Alaska, she is a right wing nutcase. I watched her speech, along with most of the others at the RNC. While police were raiding the headquarters of an organized protest group and arresting journalists (IN AMERICA , WE DON'T DO THAT), the republican figureheads, especially Mrs. Palin, were delivering speeches filled with unsubstantiated rhetoric about how Obama is bad and McCain was a POW. I don't disrespect McCain's service to our country, it was quite honorable, however what we need is a leader, not a war-hero/monger.
Besides, by electing McCain, we would be electing a 72 year old man; our fail-safe an incompetent first term governor.

J   September 5th, 2008 8:35 pm ET

"Some people inspire through words like Obama….other people inspire through actions like McCaine."

I wish McCain's actions inspired me, but they don't. He's voted with Bush far more often then not, he says he's going to run a high brow campaign and lets everyone else do the dirty work for him at the Convention. At one point he was the 'Maverick' McCain, then the 'experience' McCain, then the 'conservative' McCain and then the 'reformer' McCain, the only actions I see are position shifts and cheap ploys like Palin, for political favor. So perhaps it's you who needs to take a closer look at his actions and not be swayed by the fact that he was a PoW, just because someone was a soldier does not mean they have what it takes to be President.

All I know is, I waited 20 years as a loyal liberal for the Democrats to take on and defeat corruption in the GOP.

To think a newbie Republican Governor would make my dream come true! And a woman at that! YEE HA!

Not to worry, McCain fans….

Any and all who have been around know how CONSERVATIVE Alaska really is.
YOU think they are going to risk an OBAMA presidency over this?

Oh, sure, someone got their ego rubbed the wrong way…but this will blow over, I am certain.

I WAS AN OFFICER BEFORE AND I BELIEVE THIS GUY SO FAR. SARAH, SEEMS TO BE A LIAR AND I DON'T BELIEVE HER SO FAR. SHE APPEARS TO BE A BU__ HOLE, SMART A__ OR WHATEVER. LOL. THE WAYS THINGS ARE GOING FOR HER. I BET SHE WANT BE ON THE TICKET NOVEMBER THE 3RD. LOL

RJ   September 5th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

McCain finally lost it. She was not even vetted. Hopefully she will see some jail time, and McCain will have to pick boring Romney.

Kim   September 5th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

Trooper aside. The Palins are linked to a Radical anti American Alaska secessionist group. Palin shows herself as the wonderfull mother of a special needs child but in truth cut sixty two million dollars in funds for special needs children. She reads well from a prepared script on a teleprompter but struggled through five different colleges in six years to eek out a journalism degree. She tries to force her pentecostal religion into politics like attempting to ban books from the local library when she was Mayor of Moose Turd Alaska. Palin lied and said she sold the Governors Jet for a profit when in fact she took a substantial loss ,she makes good window dressing but is really a mediocre politician.

Dannie   September 5th, 2008 8:07 pm ET

Roger, there's really nothing to fear. Sarah Palin was McCain's lifeline for this presidential election. To be perfectly honest, I believe she was picked simply because she was a woman in the governor's seat who is very attractive. So far her gift of gab has cast a spell of hope on small town America, which makes up a good voter turnout population. I hope McCain plays this political game of chess with strategy. With Palin as his running mate for the presidency, the white queen has the black king in check.

Please Listen   September 5th, 2008 8:06 pm ET

I do not understand how a person no a mother could put her own son and other soliders by saying on national TV when he is going to Iraq. Did she not just put her son in harms way but everyone that is going with him in danger. Her jugement is dangerous.

To the believers(GOP and people that are closet racist) she tells no lies but She lies about the plane she lies about her bridge she lies about her bother in law she lies about taking ear marks she lies No she Hides her being a grandmother in four more months she even cut taxes on a progam for speacial needs children in her home state. She lies that she is going to help the speacial needs children she lies that she has experience she is what a pawn tto win the whitehouse for GOP and people that are closet racist.

So look you can vote for McCain and Palin that is what you will get lies. Palin can do that very well lie she has my vote on this for being the best liar in which the where all told in less than a week.

An Independent   September 5th, 2008 8:05 pm ET

I'm pretty sure I know what this means. The Republican investigators don't really like her which is why they were willing to investigate someone from their own party, but now that she's part of the national Republican ticket, either they don't want to damage their parties chances of winning and/or they've been threatened by national Republicans (probably both) to clear her promptly or else lose federal funding their pet projects.

I think there's no doubt now that they're going to clear her – for the good of the party, not necessarily because she didn't do anything wrong.

Madsal   September 5th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

CNN, I blogged 3 hours ago, but you still have it sitting for moderation while there have been many, many since me. What seems to be the deal? Be fair to all, ok?

Sammy   September 5th, 2008 6:47 pm ET

So long as the investigation isnt compromised then moving it up is the right thing to do. Actually for Obama it might be a good thing. Cynical as this is the media will have more time to do its stories on the investigation itself and the result. However it really isnt all that big a deal. Great comment today: Going after Palin is checkers. Going after McCain is chess.

Roger, Roger, Roger. I'm afraid you are the one who needs to get informed. McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time-what makes you believe he is going to change his tune now? He has voted against wind and biofuels-why is he going to change now? Voting for McCain is voting for 4 more years of the same Republican policies that are not working for the American people. And let's face it, he blew the most important job of the entire campaign-choosing a qualified running mate. There are thousands of people who are more qualified than Palin, a woman who took on a mayoral job in a town of 5000 with 0 debt, and left it 22 million in debt! She fires anyone who doesn't agree with her. She is not the woman who will negotiate with Dems or move this country forward.

I personally WANT TO KNOW HOW ANYONE democrats, republicans or independents could support a person in any position of power let alone Vice President of United States of America that supports succession from the U.S. that would be Sarah Palin.

Don’t take my word for it look it up.

Jean   September 5th, 2008 6:32 pm ET

Hello? Who's running for President on the Republican ticket? McCain or Palin? So far I have not heard a word from either one of them on any issues; what I do hear is personal slams against the Democratic ticket. And is it just me or did the RNP make anyone else feel that if you are not on their side then you are UnAmerican? I love this country no matter who I vote for. I love watching CNN, but lets stop focusing on the "Barracuda" (which is what they want) and focus on facts and issues of the two nominees for President of these United States. I will not be bullied by fear I will vote for change and in order to do that I need to hear what each side has planned for our future. By the way Sarah, my 4 yr old grandson is autistic, and I feel he is just as important as children with downs syndrome.

Palin has shown she can compete against "any good old boy" with her personality. For that she's called a "barracuda or pitbull." Then what do you call the guysy who say and do the same thing? She gets reemed for making sarcastic remarks but does ANYONE remember the remarks made by Obama and Clinton during the primaries??????? Obama has said he was the candidate for change and then he chooses Biden, what is up with that?? That is no change. I am an independent, college educated woman who up until that choice, was favoring Obama. Not anymore. I prefer the outsider who will not be intimadated by the "good old boys." And, where does Obama have more experience then Palin?

The Reupublicans have already put the pressure of those in charge of this investigation. Had they not, then McCain would not have chosen Palin as his running mate.

The unfortunate part is that I believe Palin allow her personal feeling interfer with has professional responsibilities.

The commissioner will be the only one paying for Palin behavior. The smirk on this woman's face tells a history of stories that aren't pretty.

The sad part is her speech is being torn apart and it seem that CNN and her reps out in Alaska are saying Palin stretched the truth. (white america's way of saying she lied.) BUT HAD THAT BEEN OBAMA….it would have been god everything except a child of god.

Logan - FTL   September 5th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

To Thompson Forbes:

Whay hypocracy! When the media ran with the stories concerning Obama’s supposed Muslim connections, the attacks on Senator John Kerry over his military service, or the numerous attacks on Senator Hillary Clinton, I didn’t hear you complain much. How dare we question a religious zealot like Governor Palin? She is off limits because she is a woman, but just a few months ago, she accused Hillary Clinton of playing the sexist card when the heat got turned up. Now that she is feeling the same heat, it is not fair.

Talk about double standards. I love how standards only apply to the “other’s” candidate, not your own. For example, if a democrat’s 17 year old daughter got pregnant, we would have to hear all about the immorality of the liberals, but on the other hand, when it is a right-wing, religious, zealot’s kid, it makes them more human. Again, what hypocrisy!

Forbes—

You have to stop drinking their Kool-Aid. The "liberal" news media does not exist. The news media is too weak-chinned.

The Republicans got nothing to fight with and they picked a bad #2. So, their plan is to blame the media and the Democrats for all of their mistakes. Sarah Palin is wrong for this country, the sooner we all get it the better.

Matt Simpson   September 5th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

Wow, the Obama loving lefties here are pretty crazy. I all I see is spewing of lies and hatred. You don't really seem to have any answers for the problems we face together as a country. And now you have Sarah Palin as a target. It is sad to see all the name calling and pronouncement of guilt before the evidence all comes out. And when you don't have anything else, blame it on Bush. Of course he is the most evil person on the planet because the media has been proclaiming that over and over, so it must be true, right? We are in a very pathetic situation if our country is made up of so many ignorant people who believe everything the media tells them and will support a candidate who has no real experience and is all show and no substance. Go back to watching American Idol and your reality TV shows, I hope you forget to show up at the polls in November.

Mark - California   September 5th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Wondering who was behind moving it up and getting it out of the way because we "short attention span" Americans will forget it by the end of that week. Just by doing research myself not taking any sound bites from either campaign. There is something wrong there, something seriously wrong.

chippyarm   September 5th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

I'm SURE there are Alaska residents that KNOW the TRUTHS behind this clan. They are NOT who they seem in front of the cameras.

I think there is MORE to this family than meets our eyes. Something is just NOT "jiving" with this family.

YOU know when you get this feeling in your "gut" but you aren't sure what it means, but you KNOW it's there?

There is something very sinister about the Palin family and I don't think it's all good either. I think there are a few "dark secrets" that the Palin family is trying to keep hidden.

Thompson Forbes   September 5th, 2008 5:27 pm ET

The news media is really pushing everything they can to get Sarah Palin discredited. It is obvious to everyone. CNN and the liberal news media, as well as Oprah are trying their best to get Obama elected as president. I am disgusted with how the news media has presented themselves. I am registered as an independent and was not motivate very much in regards to the presidential election. Now that I see what is happening to Sarah Pilan, I am as motivated as I ever was when it comes to the presidential election. I have not been this motivated since Ronald Reagan ran for president in the 80's. I am voting for John McCain and Sarah Pilan. As far as I am concerned, both are superior to Obama.

Richard   September 5th, 2008 5:25 pm ET

People try to criticize her for dodging and avoiding all those questions that the whining Americans have about abuse of power in regards to TROOPER GATE and her cronies, including her illegal fishing, moose shooting, family. See, it’s obvious that they needed to use all that time to craft and polish her speech to do what McCain was to scared to do; attack with non-issues and mockery a popular historic black man’s run for the white house and without McCain himself being stuck with the criticism……only a token women could pull this of. I loved the part when she said that she would be an advocate for special needs children. It makes perfect sense, I’m sure we wouldn’t want her having to pay for her child’s special needs out of her pocket like all those ordinary people did when she cut funding for kids with special needs by 62%. The best part of all this is that Alaska is an oil state and her family owns, her husband works for an oil company, and her family owns a gas station. It’ll be like George bush never left the White House! Yeaaaaa!

JOHN MCAIN…….MORE OF THE SAME!!!

Patrick, Fairfield, CA   September 5th, 2008 5:25 pm ET

After reading some of the things that this guy has been accused of and has admitted to, I don't blame Palin for trying to get him fired if that is the case. He tasered an 11 year old kid and illegally shot a wildlife animal. This man is supposed to protect, serve, and enforce the law – but he seems to not want to follow it himself.

If you see Mike Wooten walking down your streets, Alaskan natives, turn and run – oh wait a second, don't run, walk away slooooowy, because you might get tasered!

This man is bad news and should be anything but a police officer. How about a Politician?

Lastly: What's up with his head?

Obama Now More Than Ever   September 5th, 2008 5:25 pm ET

The investigation of Palin should be increased quickly so we have all the facts before the election. I am tired of the Republican spin and Sarah trying to play like she is a victim of the media. She knew she was under investigation when accepted the nomination. Did she think America would just ignore it? So far, all we have seen of her is a bitter, hateful, spiteful, and disgraceful speech at the Republican convention. It was so nasty that it actually caused a one-day record of donations to the Obama campaign. I want to know who Palin is, what her character is, and whether or not she can be trusted. So far, I am not getting very good feelings about her. She has a lot of personal problems, family problems, and governing problems that seem serious enough to disqualify her as a valid candidate for VP on anybody's ticket. If she is going to hide from the media and play victim it only makes me more suspicious of her. It seems she has alot she wants to keep us from knowing. If she can;t take the media heat knowing what her issues with the public would be, then she should have never accepted the nomination. Candidates are usually well vetted and obviously she was not. She is appearing to be a huge liability to McCain. Her arrogance and condenscending nature will not play well among Americans. We have had our fill of smug and corrupt Republicans and it appears she is another one. She has turned me off completely. My vote is going to Obama and Biden and so will my campaign contributions.

Val from MA
Democracts, YOU SHOULD BE SCARED, and it shows.

You know what Val, I am scared, but not of that unqualified nobody from Alaska. I am scared of what is happening to this country courtesy of the idiots that you have supported, and continue to support
-have put this country in debt to the point where every one of us owe $31,000 and climbing. Tell your kids that
-have allowed companies to leave this country and unemployment
is over 6%
-underemployment at over 10% -highest in 14 years
-banks are failing for the first time since the depression.
-we are mired in two wars with no plans how to get out
-People are losing their homes at record rates
-Energy and food prices are through the roof
-Health care costs are out of reach for millions and the insurance and drug companies are making a killing (literally)

the best this country can do is a has been beauty queen, who left a town of 7000 in debt, and less then 2 years experience as governor of 600,000 people, and an old man who can offer nothing other than 30 year old war stories,? McCain equals more of the same

Palin is the epitome of a wolf in sheeps clothing! She has NO experience and is yet the newest gimmick in the Republican attack Karl Rove play book. She is Dick Cheney is a pants suit. Any supporter of Hillary's that votes for Palin must be truly asleep at the wheel. I hope Hillary publically sets Palin straight. The audacity of Palin to essentially state, she is a woman and Hillary is a woman, therefore, women, I am your choice. I hope Hillary does a national speech in which she compares her positions to Palins and share her thoughts on Palin's resume and lack of accomplishments. McSame and his cronies stooped to new lows. Whose ever heard of not letting a VP candidate meet with the press? I guess it is a view of the future if McBush is elected, the further evisceration of the First Amendment. People, wake up, look behind the pretty packaging and realize voting for McSame and Palin would be four more years of Bush/Cheney . . . and you'd only have yourselves to blame.

Someone has to tell her that she cannot act on a family grudge and mess the livelihood of someone who slighted her sister. The US is not a banana republic. She is not above the law. But she tried to be when she fired the commissioner for doing his job right and resisted her pressure to fire her former brother-in-law. Family squabble has no place in government business.

Roger,

You know whats funny, you say we Obamabots need fireworks, flashing lights, etc, etc to keep us awake through "McCaine's" (this is how you spelled it), oh, wait. It's McCain. Anyway, as I was saying, you claim we needed all those things for our convention. Funny, the GOP covention clsed with flashing lights, fireworks on a slide, balloons, and September by Earth, Wind, and Fire. By the way is one of the same songs we Obamabots danced to last week at our convention.

And to criticize Obama on IRAQ when she has no foreign policy experience of anykind outside of Alaska. You're kidding me? She probably thinks the battleground states are foreign.

The Grand Oil Party is desperate. This goes even beyond desperate, it's reckless. This isn't a lifetime movie, this is real life people where this inexperienced woman could step in for McLame and be running the country.

If a BJ with an intern can partially take down a white male president and and a consentual booty call can take down the mayor of a major US city, certainly we should have a VP wanna-be testify by supeona, under oath, so that any petty lie she tells in her defense can be used to drum her out as well.

Lesley   September 5th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

I hope they don't let her railroad them into letting the personnel board investigate her. One of the three members of that board was appointed by Palin herself, and the other two were appointed by her predecessor. She is trying to manipulate the system already! With a charge as serious as this, it rightfully should stay under the jurisdiction of the bipartisan committee of the state legislature to avoid any appearance of impropriety. After all, she is the govenor.

Roger from CA   September 5th, 2008 5:03 pm ET

What this says to me is that the GOP fears that there will be a decision against Palin in this, and wants at least a chance to spin it before the election, so they got this moved up a couple weeks.

Indeed, as some other posters note, WHY isn't Palin herself being subpoenaed, if she is the person being investigated for her actions? CNN: This is the kind of thing that the media is supposed to push on!!!!

But on a side note, as an Obama supporter, I am a bit concerned that this is a bit of a trap. One of two things will happen: (a) the report will exonerate Palin or give the faintest slap on the wrist; or (b) the report will find serious malfeasance by Palin, but the GOP will be able to make it go away politically, by spinning it as follows:

The ex-brother-in-law will be painted as a complete scuzzball (from what I've seen and read, may not be too hard, given the whole admitted tasering of the stepson, and the serial failed marriages, etc.), so–technicalities of civil service law aside–why should we blame Palin for doing the "right" thing and seeking his termination; while it may have "broken the rules" to intervene personally, she just happened to have personal knowledge of this guy, and was motivated by love of her dear sister and parents to be sure this guy got his.

So, whizz-bang, all of a sudden this is a story of a tough, but loving, sister and daughter just trying to do what is "really" right, even if it "bent" some rules. In the end, only "elitists" and hard-core union reps will feel what she did was truly "wrong."

Twisted, but is that any less twisted than what the GOP does routinely?

William Spivey   September 5th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

They've agreed not to subpoena Palin herself? Unless she has agreed to cooperate and testify without being served, that's one big stinking salmon!

If they've agreed not to subpoena her, is it because a deal has been brokered that will benefit Palin and McCain while placing the rest of the country in a quandary?

I read somewhere that Sarah's brother-in-law actually tasered his 11 year old child. I call that serious child abuse. So which one of us has no problems in our extended families. Most of us do. These problems will become larger as more people become involved.
I also read where the brother-in-law has stated that he is sorry for his actions and plans to do better. Give this extended family a chance!

NICE CNN….report the truth!

Truth is, Sen. Hollis French-Democrat-has had run-ins WITH Gov. Palin.

Funny, Senator French has said TWICE she could be Impeached, and he has an "October Surprise" for Gov. Palin! As a Democrat, there is NO WAY he could have started an investigation, and already have the report Written for an October surprise, unless he had it pre-planned.

Even MORE odd is the FACT that Monegan said "AT NO TIME DID GOV. PALIN TELL ME TO FIRE WOOFEN, NOR DID TODD PALIN"

IF you BEST Political NEWS TEAM bothered to investigate, perhaps you might want to do a story on how Woofen, being found guilty on 4 of the charges, was only given 10 days suspension reduced to 5 after pressure from the Troopers Union.

YUP….that sure is change you can believe in! The Democrats plan to toss Biden out, and Obama threatened Democrats in the Senate that did not endorse him….can't wait to see how he governs. AND what about the Detroit Mayor that is his friend? Until he threw HIM under the bus the day before he pled GUILTY.

Her speech was shameful. All it consisted of was Palin belittling Obama about his stance that terrorists have rights (Terrorists are people right? "all men are created equal" hmm crazy talk) and his noble job as a community organizer. I don't know but if Palin didn't know what a vice president does, then I'm pretty sure she doesn't know what a community organizer does. They HELP people who do not have the means to help themselves. Community organizers don't just help the rich people like the Republicans love to do while they watch everyone else lose their job and become unable to support their families because of the policies they make. Sarah should want this to be processed as fast as possible. If she is innocent, she has nothing to worry about. Her behavior seems to indicate she is hiding from this. Not the way to go when you are in the fishbowl of running for VP.

What are they going to do? Shrink wrap her until November? It will play badly to the public. The main networks (CBS, ABC, and Fox News) can't be relied upon to do any reporting on this.

You know what scares me the most about Palin if they win? Consider this scenario – McCain has a stroke and is unable to serve for a few months, and she becomes the one who can nominate a Supreme Court Justice. She wants creationism taught in schools, she is at least open to the idea of banning books in public libraries, she's not concerned about global warming or endangered animals, let alone her being against abortion even in cases of rape. As a whole, that's a scary set of beliefs to go behind someone naming anyone for the Supreme Court!

If any of the Obamabots would bother to actually read up on the topic, Palin had plenty of reason aside from not firing her ex-brother in law for firing Walter Monegan. The reason the date is being moved up is because the subpoena list will be short since Palin has fully complied with this investigation that is a waste of Alaskans' money.

Sue in MI   September 5th, 2008 4:32 pm ET

I'm afraid of Sarah Palin because of her beliefs, and what she could do to further hurt this country. I actually sat through her hate speech, and was sick to my stomach when she joked about Obama wanting to be sure that a terrorist in custody was read his rights. So she's right on GWB's page-no Miranda rights unless I say so. More illegal activity to come from the Oval Office. Whoopee. That does not make me happy. She may have "energized" the base, but she did nothing to convince me she was ready for the job.
And why will the RNC not allow her to be interviewed? What are they hiding? What is she hiding? All those who accepted her at face value (while doing a minute scrutiny of everything Barack has done in his life) need to at the very least, check FactCheck and see the lies she told the other night. Not to mention the lies McCain told. Yes, he seems to be a good American (or at least, he appreciated America while a POW) but he really has no ideas for the country. If he had, don't you think that when Bush had the Congress under his control, they night have accomplished SOMETHING? But no, they voted for the war, they voted on any bill Bush wanted, and look at the US. No more, No way, No McCain. And certainly, no Sarah Palin.

I just heard a recast of Palin's speech. Wow – was that one heaping pile of nasty! She blatantly lied about Obama's plans, positions and proposals over and over. She lied about: taxes, the economy, energy, Iraq, the surge, and taxes again. And then she mocked and derided these supposed postions of his, while never once giving any of her own solutions. She had a snarky know-all attitude throughout. So I have 2 questions for Palin:
- for somone who claims devout Christianity, how can you justify to yourelf telling such shameful lies?
- fo someone claiming to be a maverick reformer who pushes back against her own party when they're wrong, why did you agree to give this lie-filled screed that they gave you to read?

I am willing to bet McCain would have serious demons. I do not believe in discrimination against older adults. However, when it comes to running the country, shouldn't we consider this. And if something were to happen to him, do we really want an irresponsible, non-experienced person to take his place?

"Their shock was evident in their initial, clumsy reaction, a hard-hitting two-sentence statement from Obama spokesman Bill Burton that included this zinger: "Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency." Quoted from Time. Obama dissed Sarah by then calling her the mayor of Wasilly, and never once mentioning the fact that she is the Gov. of Alaska, and has been for 2 years now.

Spencer from VA   September 5th, 2008 3:53 pm ET

Don't be scared now Sara. What if they do find out you abused your power. That will be the crushing blow for your ticket. lol

TESAP;SAVANNAH, GA   September 5th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

Well either she is guilty or not………. I understand that he may have done some things to the family, allegedly… but she had not right to abuse her power in this way.

Jeff Brown   September 5th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

Looks like Gidget is in hot water!

Lone Star with Brians   September 5th, 2008 3:50 pm ET

Why isn't she being supoenad??? After all, the charges levied against her are abuse of powers of the Office of Governor. Something stinks in alaska….

GO SARAH!   September 5th, 2008 3:50 pm ET

Alan, Athens,
I though UGA put out intelligent people?

Bob Indianapolis, IN   September 5th, 2008 3:50 pm ET

CauseNEffect   September 5th, 2008 3:50 pm ET

Awww… C'mon CNN, you aren't posting me… was it something I said? Just a little fun! Do I have to beg or whine… or spell everything wrong and spew hate like the other posters?

GO SARAH!   September 5th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

Good, clear it up, prove he has issues that needed to be delt with, she delt with them, move on.

JustCheck   September 5th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

She can always follow the Bush example of claiming "executive privilege". This would be right in keeping with Bush term 3.

Ken from Michigan   September 5th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

I would think that the Governor would be the first one they'd interview to get her side of the story. They then would have a baseline to judge all the evidence on, whether or not she's telling the truth.

Of course if your friend is George, then why worry? Typical GOP good ole boy network taking care of their own.

BTW: I watched the McCain speech last night…..I counted 3, maybe four "minority" faces in the crowd,,,,whose in touch with most of America? I ask you!

Sandy   September 5th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

Why would they not subpoena Palin? She's the one who has to answer what she directed her staff to do. The 20 calls from her office are not in issue. The content of at least one is taped. The issue becomes what knowledge did she have of the content of the calls and what direction did she give. The aides didn't make the calls on their own initiative; you can bet that.

Franky   September 5th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

LOL!!!! Barking Chihuahua…LOL!!!

I'm sorry guys but that was good! That was real good…LOL!!!!!

oh my   September 5th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

lets see if McCain/Bush and the RNC can cover this up like they did 911

People make no sense   September 5th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

McCain sends 25 lawyers. The number one witness NOW refuses to testify. They are moving up the probe now. The investigators will not call her as a witness in her own investigation.

COVERUP!!!!! + REPUBLICANS = MRS. REFORMER!

Independent Veteran   September 5th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

Uh-oh, here we go…the repug machine already at work with their influence and pressure on the Alaskan legislature body to clear Palin, regardless of whether or not she's guilty. My guess is they will be payed off and this thing will disapear.

mama4obama   September 5th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

So….is this the reason other then "training" that McCain sent his "communications team" to Alaska? To try to squash any truth from coming out?

David   September 5th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

Good. We can get rid of this lying, inept bulldog with eyeshadow and have a real election.

georgia independent   September 5th, 2008 3:47 pm ET

And why won't they subpoena the person who is allegedly behind the entire mess?

Power has its privileges doesn't it? Is Karl Rove tinkering in Alaska politics now?

Roger   September 5th, 2008 3:47 pm ET

It is absolutely hilarious to see the fear in the Obamabots. How can you tell they are scared? Read over all of these posts. All they can do is say John Mccaine is old. All they can say is skin cancer. All they can say is Mcbush. All they can say is he is boring. All they can say is I fell alseep.

Well here is something for you to ponder. Instead of sleeping through the speech…next time listen to it. Listen to his ideas. Listen to his past accomplishments. Listen to him give you examples of his bipartisanship. Inform yourselves for crying out loud.

Some people inspire through words like Obama….other people inspire through actions like Mccaine.

It is so sad that you all need fireworks, flashing lights, and Roman columns to be able to stay awake through a speech. There was alot to be learned last night about the man John Mccaine. About his decision making processes, about his leadership skills, about his character. There was also alot of information on what direction he wants to take the country. Not a laundry list of false promises, false dreams, and outright lies. He gave a practical vision of what it will take to turn this country around…..a plan that with hardwork and good discipline is achievable. He didn't promise you free this, free that, checks in the mail, lower gas prices because I said so, higher paychecks because I said so, world peace because I said so.

It is great to see the Obama supporters so involved, now take some of that energy and inform yourselves.

John Mccaine sealed the deal for this independent voter.

Obama/Biden 08   September 5th, 2008 3:47 pm ET

If you ask me, her desire to get the investigation transferred to the state Personnel Board is very suspicious. If she really has nothing to hide, then why is she trying to get her investigation taken on by people who would be sympathetic to her, rather than just let the investigation run its course?

No way No How No Mccain-Palin   September 5th, 2008 3:47 pm ET

Palin is a Liar and a Disgrace to all Women she is on a Ticket with a Person that Voted against equal pay for women So does that Mean she will get Paid less than other VP because they were man? Also she wants to Over Turn Roe V Wade She is a Puppet in a Pants Suit adleast Hillary was fighting for Women Palin is fighting Against womens rights. A Vote for Mccain Palin is a Step Back for Women's Rights!

simp   September 5th, 2008 3:46 pm ET

I just hope they are not rushing through because this big mouth woman is running for VP.

Charlie Black   September 5th, 2008 3:46 pm ET

MsAnnette , AR   September 5th, 2008 3:45 pm ET
