Somebody needs to ask Sara Palin what she replaced the state jet with. I heard today that she and her husband have a small Piper airplane, which they loved so much they named their daughter after it. I think that I finally have figured out the McCain-Palin plan in regards to the media. I believe that they are intentionally holding her back from press interviews until the media has dug up the majority of her skeletons and aired them. A profit was made because the jet had depreciated and the amount they got was a little more than current value, but being a valued Aircraft it was a good deal. Also profit was gleaned because Alaska did not have to bear further expenses for Inspections, Annuals, and other FAA required costs. It's telling that Palin has been exposed to have lied about so many things in the short week since she was chosen to be McCain's running mate:

1. She was for earmarks before she was against them and was the first mayor of Wasilla to hire a lobbying firm.
2. She was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it and kept the money instead of sending it back to the federal gov't.
3. She claims to have had no involvement in the attempts to get her brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, but her own husband made calls on her behalf and there are emails from her personal account to the Director of Safety asking why he was still employed.
4. She claims to be fiscally responsible, but left the town of Wasilla in debt.
5. She claims to be a Christian, but many people in Alaska have spoken up to say how hateful and mean she is.

Should we believe Palin or the avalanche of evidence that clearly indicates she's just like George Bush – a wolf in sheeps clothing willing to say anything to get elected?

When the state first began using the plane in November 2005, prisoner transport accounted for 58 percent of the jet's use, and Murkowski's office used it 23 percent of the time. Over time, Murkowski's usage increased.

You are not covering the sale of the jet from all angles. The state now does not have to pay for a pilot, potential benefits for that pilot, jet fuel, maintenance fees, etc. If she kept the jet and it needs $50,000 in repairs then the state would have to pay that anyway. These are expenses related to the jet that would compound over the years during her term. So the state of Alaska will break even eventually, its just a matter of when they will break even. Maybe "profit" was not the best selection of words, but it still was a darned gutsy move that benefits the citizens of Alaska. In addition, besides dumping the "symbol of corruption" palin makes a statement about energy conservation. There are luxuries in which politicians should not be indulging. Conservatives love to point out Gore's hypocracy regarding his utilization of a private jet even after he won the Nobel Prize. Just watched Campbell Brown on this and agree that she (and apparently CNN) are quite biased. Palin never said she sold it there – but she did have the initiative to put it there (McCain needs to get the story straight & apparently misspoke). She may well have sold it at a "profit" – CNN didn't bother to see what the actual book value of a used jet was – given the way state government works it was probably in bad condition. In any event the money saved by dumping the luxury vehicle was the point. The reporting was simply hypercritical – more like left wing "analysis" than responsible journalism. By the way, spouses in divorce proceeding are notoriously unreliable witnesses – did CNN really get an "exclusive" with the accused spouse of her sister when anything he could say would be irrelevant to the accusation. She also failed to mention that the pipeline she claims to have pushed, was on the table before she was elected governor. She outsourced the project to a Canadian company because as she tells the oil companies were movinh to slow. Nevermind the fact that the 1,715 mile long pipeline won't be complete for ten years. Another interesting factoid is that she was in favor of the "Bridge to Nowhere" and even hired a lobbying firm to secure 27 million dollars of earmarks for the bridge while she was mayor of Wasilla. This lady is real heavy on the trigger when it comes to insults written by others, but light with facts. Even though this is something completely trivial… it still speaks loudly of his character. Either he's ingorant or just a compulsive liar. Either way.. scary charachteristics for someone running to be the president.

This republican Pary has nothing to offer. I am not even sure why McCain wants to be president. All he has done is attack Obama's character. He has not offered any new ideas or solutions for the problems that most Americans face.

Two quick examples of the truthfulness of George Bush. McCain is just like Bush, so we can implicitly trust him. We can trust him without even thinking about it . . . Republicans like it when people don't think . . . that's how Republicans get elected!

Palin just said that she put it on eBay. She didn't say that she sold it on eBay.

But John McCain is being quoted as saying "…sold it on eBay — and made a profit.", when the luxury jet wasn't sold on eBay and the state lost money on it.

So, either Palin didn't tell McCain the whole truth or McCain is lying.

Now they have a great big plane together with their names on it.

I tried to add a comment – When are they going to publish similar article to clear Obama of the RUMORS that are going around to own the title – FAIR and BALANCED! speak very clear. First, they put to e-bay for sell ,this is true, they did.
Second, the jet was sold,dose't matter where did they sold,and how much they sold, the money did'nt go to her walloet. to be a governer,
she did very good job.

To say there was a profit and it's actually a loss is not good. The eBay part is just a distortion, as she did put it up there, it just didn't sell. I take more issue with adding that she made a profit when that's not true.

At least the media is investigating the remarks rather than taking them at face-value.

I guess thats one change they will have to make on their stump speech.

While is is admirable if she actually put the jet on ebay, it is appauling how McCain lied (excitedly) about the outcome.

Just another reason not to trust the Republicans.

We should also note that the jet was used to ship convicts to prisons. Alaska doesn't have enough prison space in-state, so it flies prisoners to places like Arizona and puts them in contracted prisons.

So while we're right to blast McCain for saying she sold the plane at a profit when she didn't, we should also look into whether selling the plane was ultimately the financially smart thing to do. Presumably, Alaska still has to fly prisoners to their cells, so it's paying for that somehow.

Good grief, if all you CNN democrats were as vigorous in your investigation into Obama's past as you are quick to get Sarah Palin then I might believe you guys are fair. Last week I was telling my freinds that allthough CNN leans a little to the left they are still a somewhat fair source for politics. Wow, was I wrong. This week CNN moved completely to the left. Cambell Brown was just ridiculess in her bias. Even MSNBC was more fair to the republicans than you folks at CNN. I used to like Jack Cafferty but he also seems to have swung to the far left. Come on people. CNN used to be the place to go for even handed news. If you keep going down this road, FOX news may be the only plase to go to hear the other side of the story.

To be fair .. PUTTING something one ebay is not SELLING it on ebay. That's all I heard Sarah Palin say at the convention. John McCain however made it clear that she SOLD it on ebay and MADE A PROFIT. You can be sure they will fix those talking points before they make another speech together. I certainly think it makes the case that the McCain campaign is hard-up for something, other than her family and her being a woman, that connects with the American people.
