Palin: Biden isn't an agent of change

Gov. Palin said Sen. Biden isn't capable of transforming Washington.
Gov. Palin said Sen. Biden isn't capable of transforming Washington.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (CNN) – Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin attacked her Democratic counterpart for the first time on Saturday, accusing Sen. Joe Biden of being a creature of Capitol Hill incapable of transforming Washington.

“You know, the choices that presidential nominees make for running mate they say a lot about them,” Palin told an audience of 12,000 flag-waving Republicans who had gathered in a jet hangar here.

Watch: Palin says Biden isn't an agent of change

“When our opponent made his choice, he went for a fine man,” she said. “A decent man. Sen. Biden can claim many chairmanships across many, many years in Washington, and certainly many friends in the Washington establishment. But even those admirers would not be able to call him an agent of change.”

Meanwhile, she said, “Sen. McCain has called the two of us a team of mavericks. John McCain knows that we’ve done some shaking up in Alaska.”

Palin ventured briefly into the world of economic policy during her remarks, calling for reform at mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which are now facing the prospect of a government bailout. Palin has largely avoided policy discussions on the campaign trail thus far, instead focusing on her own biography and emphasizing her reformer credentials.

“John McCain has been calling for years to reform things and cut bureaucracy, even at the lending agencies that our government supports,” Palin said. “The fact is that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, they’ve gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers. The McCain-Palin administration will make them smaller and smarter and more effective for homeowners who need help.”

I wouldn't really call her canned statement on Freddie/Fannie 'venturing into economic policy'.

She simply made a over-simplified statement written for her by a Bush aide.

Come on guy, pull back the wool, there's nothing there.

Palin really scares me. I could care less about the baby scandals...it's more the weird stuff that comes directly out of her mouth.

When Sarah Palin won the race for Governor of Alaska, in a very tight race, she stated she would "not let Alaskans down" and would "not disappoint us". Well, she has done just that. Had we known more about her (and I really don't understand why we can't learn in local races the kind of information dug up on the national level), she would never have won the race of Governor. She stated she puts the State of Alaska first – really? She's left Alaska at a crucial time, to run for a position that she mocked just six weeks ago in a televised interview when she asked, "....just what does the VP really do? I'm used to being productive...". That's how important Alaska was to her. Willing to leave her productive day, for an unproductive job, just to further her political aspirations. Let's get 2 things straight: 1.) Sarah Palin will not put the "country fist", Sarah Always puts Sarah first. 2.) The polls that state she has one of the highest approval ratings for any governor, would probably reflect quite a different story as of today!!! I really wish the Media would quite touting her as a Gov. that everyone up here loves, because that's a story that is VERY RAPIDLY changing!!! And, by the way, I'm "undeclared" and I voted for Palin as our Gov., so no, I'm not just knocking her b/c I'm a democrate. I'm knocking her because she's earned it!!!!!!

Palin is doing a marvelous job of helping the Obama campaign. I hope that the Republican campaign doesn't sack her. With her as Republican VP candidate, Obama/Biden will continue to gain momentum.

I find it despicable that anyone would use a woman to further their interests/agenda let alone a non-prospectable president who wants to carry on the war agenda. Such hate spewing is one of the reasons America is not liked well outside our borders. There will always be a group of ignorant people willing to shame others to make themselves feel better.

Scott L-Democrats may control Congress but not by a wide enough margin to accomplish anything. Do you ever stop to think why our President just added the word VETO to his vocabulary in 2006? The true agents of change are OBAMA & BIDEN! Wake up America because if we stay dormant and McCain and Sarah Plain win come November, we won't survive another 4 years.
