Palin: Biden isn't an agent of change

Gov. Palin said Sen. Biden isn't capable of transforming Washington.
Gov. Palin said Sen. Biden isn't capable of transforming Washington.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (CNN) – Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin attacked her Democratic counterpart for the first time on Saturday, accusing Sen. Joe Biden of being a creature of Capitol Hill incapable of transforming Washington.

“You know, the choices that presidential nominees make for running mate they say a lot about them,” Palin told an audience of 12,000 flag-waving Republicans who had gathered in a jet hangar here.

Watch: Palin says Biden isn't an agent of change

“When our opponent made his choice, he went for a fine man,” she said. “A decent man. Sen. Biden can claim many chairmanships across many, many years in Washington, and certainly many friends in the Washington establishment. But even those admirers would not be able to call him an agent of change.”

Meanwhile, she said, “Sen. McCain has called the two of us a team of mavericks. John McCain knows that we’ve done some shaking up in Alaska.”

Palin ventured briefly into the world of economic policy during her remarks, calling for reform at mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which are now facing the prospect of a government bailout. Palin has largely avoided policy discussions on the campaign trail thus far, instead focusing on her own biography and emphasizing her reformer credentials.

“John McCain has been calling for years to reform things and cut bureaucracy, even at the lending agencies that our government supports,” Palin said. “The fact is that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, they’ve gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers. The McCain-Palin administration will make them smaller and smarter and more effective for homeowners who need help.”

Stop hiding from the Press and answer questions on your record and experience.

You won't be taken seriously until you do.

This is too one-sided. Until she stops shouting insults from behind the repub fence and faces the press like a big girl, I cannot take her seriously.

American voters, Don't be fooled by smiles and a popularity contest, we are smarter than that. Ask tough questions, such as, When will Americans be put first instead of sending our jobs and resources overseas? Why are so many college students trying to choose professions that cannot be outsourced? What if Mr. McCain has to step down or became ill or couldn't finish his term as President. Do you really want someone who won a beauty contest, supervised hockey games trying to keep American's safe in such a dangerous world? Where did our jobs go?

It's not Palin that I worry about. She is channeling. It's those whose voices she is channeling that terrifies me.

I just don't know who I am listening to. I just don't know who is pulling the strings. I any country, that is a terrifying thought.

That story about the flags is a lie. They were bundle up and placed inside bags to be taken to the next Democratic event but were stolen by a Republican hack. You people should be ashamed of your self every day for smearing and spreading lies.Oh but I forgot you are Republicans.

  6. OIF VET

McCain did not mention anything about Veteran issues. It's easy to understand. He has no record of taking care of Veterans with proper health care and education benefits. He voted no on the new GI Bill, he voted no on extended health care of OIF Vets. This past week all the GOP wanted us to do is honor his service 40 years ago. Well, Mr. McCain and Governor Pain you both need to honor the new generation of Vets who are sick and tired of Republicans that use the troops to win votes then abandon them after there service. ENOUGH

The Republican spin doctors must think most american's have a 2nd grade educations. With this arguement, McCain couldn't be about change either.
The facts are clear, Jon McCain thought most about going against the rest of Republicans after George Bush and the Christian right upset him in the 2000 Election. Shortly after 2000 John McCain got over his temper tantrum and was hugged up with George Bush 95% of the time.
To the Republican bloggers.....WHY SHOULD WE BELIEVE YOU WHEN MOST OF YOU VOTED FOR BUSH BECAUSE HE WAS THE CHANGE CANIDATE..THE WASHINGTON OUTSIDER...AND CHANGE ALL THE THINGS THE CLINTON'S MESSED UP LIKE JOB INCREASES, LOW UNEMPLOYMENT, AND AN ECONOMIC SURPLUS.
REPUBLICAN BLOGGERS STOP BLOGGING, BECAUSE BASED ON YOUR RECORD, YOU HAVE NO CREDIBILITY!!!

Yes , I agree , Mrs. Palin , you and Jhon McCain are AGENTS OF CHANGE ! A CHANGE , back to the past , a past of war , not diplomacy , a past of confrontation , not concilliation . You are dividing your country and stoking the fires of hatred . THIS IS NOT THE TIME ! You just DON'T GET IT !! You have no vision , no Love of country, because if you did you would run a clean STRAIGHT TALK , campaign. No insults , no incredibly stupid remarks , no pandering to voters. Respect the American people , and give them what they deserve, an honest debate ABOUT ISSUES ! People are dying for it , they must have it ,they DEMAND it !!!

One step at a time McPalin...you might want to absorb ALL that the campaign is going to brainwash you into saying before getting into any substance...your doing just fine in your protective bubble where you are not accountable for anything you have ever done. Sound familiar people?

A believer in American intelligence–this shouldn't even be THIS close.

Obama thought he was getting the President on a silver platter. NO WAY! Hold the Democratic control Congress for his fall.

Sarah – it takes a lot more than insults to be a leader. If everything that Obama and Biden propose is so bad, then I'd love to hear what you'd suggest instead. You've mocked and smeared all of the Dem's plans. So you must have a whole slate full of wonderful ideas that are much better. So let's see you go on a real interview show, and share your real ideas with us (not scripted ones!)

Excuse me??? Biden is not a change agent because of all his years in Washington, but McCain IS a change agent despite all his years in Washington???? Senator Obama is correct. The neocons think we're stupid.

Bravo, Sara. You are great. I wish you every success in your campaign while you have fake candidates like Barack and Biden on the other side.
Since the day you have been nominated, that is the beginning of an end to Barack/Biden. We are all with you all the way.

Scott L – you have to be kidding me! Democrats control congress but they dont have the majority enough to 1) Avoid a Republican Filibuster and 2) Avoid Georgies Veto stamp.

    Get a clue!

OBAMA is a SOCIALIST. One more half-step to the LEFT and he is a Communist. Both socialists and communists are anti-American without a doubt. So, if you liberals want to vote for Obama as a change agent, then you are voting for Socialism and you are being Anti-Americans. Think about that and reconsider who and what kind of lifestyle you plan to vote for.

Palin and Alaska never returned the funds for that infamous bridge to nowhere. Never returned them to the federal government.

Palin is just another politician trying to sell us lies and mistruths.

    Vote Obama / Biden!!

I think its really interesting that CNN is covering McCain and Palin but have failed to mention the flag trashing that occured after the DNC. I'm sure they will, but probably just need more time to come up with a good spin.

I feel bad for Biden with law degree – will debate an ex anchor w/ a pretty face (not as beautiful as Imelda, though). She said she is a change agent who will shake Washington and fire the establishment – how ungrateful – after the GODS(Bush/Cheney/Rove) chose her to be the old man's running mate – this is what she will give in return. Mr McCain, I thought you are a maverick. Sorry, I am taking my vote. As for Ms. Sarah, she will still have many rice to eat, er salmon .....

" Palin has largely avoided policy discussions on the campaign trail thus far,"

Sheeesh...if that isn't typical left-wing reporting. What, this is her third day on the trail?? And although she and Sen McCain had as many people watch their speeches as saw Sen Obama's, there are still plenty out there who want to know more about her.
