The Clintons and Sen. Obama sat next to one another last week at the funeral of an Ohio Congresswoman.

(CNN) – Sen. Barack Obama and former president Bill Clinton will share a private lunch together on Thursday, September 11, CNN has confirmed.

Clinton issued the invite to Obama after learning he would be in Manhattan for a joint appearance with Sen. John McCain on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, according to Clinton Foundation spokesman Matt McKenna.

The luncheon is another sign that the Clinton and Obama camps are moving forward in the spirit of unity. Major steps toward healing the party came during the Democratic National Convention where Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Clinton, individually addressed convention-goers, appealing to them to support Obama come November. Sen. Clinton made the motion for Obama to be formally nominated as the Democratic presidential nominee.

Hillary Clinton is set to campaign for Obama in Florida Monday, and the former president has said he will campaign on Obama’s behalf but does not have any campaign events scheduled yet.

This would be a good time for Obama to send cousin Bill on a 60 day factfinding trip to Rangoon.

It is truly frightening that 72-year-old McCain with a history of melanoma has picked a woman who is so very right wing! The Clintons are presidential and have devoted their lives to making this country better. We need them in this race to help Obama get elected. A McCain win is scarier than it was before Pain joined the ticket. And my Repbulican friends think any woman will do. I think the Clintons have been most gracious and I know they will continue to be.

We are going to learn Gov Palin's stand on issues soon – then what. Are we just going to yell " MORE OF THE SAME"? It's not working. If Dems want to still win this thing, then instead of pointing out the other sides lackings, Obama had better come out with his own SPECIFICS.

If Obama had choosen Hillary ????He would not be 45% He made a wrong decision. Senator Biden is a good candidate but he is not Hillary. Mccain made a Wise decision in Choosing Sara Palin. I'm still confused between the 2, but every I lean more towards the Mccain and Sara Palin Ticket. Obama's Pride by not choosing Hillary turned me away,.

george bush said 'you're either with us or against us'. that sure was a juvenile statement. i had all but given up hope for our country. it just seems so divided. i am a republican but i cannot stand the sight of carl rowe. the republicans seem to be using the divide and conquer tactic and at least the last 8 yrs it has worked. i am not a democrat now but i will be voting for obama in november.

i am glad to see that obama and clinton will have talks. it is a process and both sides need to air out their differences; agree to disagree but at least talk and come together for things that do matter. acknowledge those views they have in common.

obama said on abortion that i respect your opinion to right to life if that is how you really feel and i hope you understand that because our opinion on this and many other issues are very far apart does not mean we cannot find solutions to the problem such as in this case we find ways to limit unwanted pregancies.

america does not have to remain so divided on these issues if we find a middle ground as obama wants to do. after all the last 30 yrs of division on this one issue has not gotten either side anywhere.

  9. Fewer are fools for Obama each day.

I am sick and tired of Obama and the sleazy campaign of hatred and division that he waged against another candidate of his own party.

I am less and less impressed with his constantly morphing empty rhetoric.

Obama changes position based on what polls well.

Obama panders for votes and does not want to displease anybody- he will sacrifice anyone- ask Bill, Hill and Rev Wright- just to win at any cost.

Bill... even YOU may not be able to breath life into this braggart's campaign.

Yup, Dems are going to unite and VOTE like never before. No way, no how, no McCain - the policy differences are stark and McCain will be a Bush 3rd term.

This is all about the democrats coming together, as the convention was all about. It's time to unite. I hope that Oboma keeps Hillary and Bill close to his side because they understand the issues devididng america just as he does.Don't let the republicans distorte what the true mission for this country is,don't let their fesr devide us.The (R) from Georgia called Oboma "Uppity" today, we all know where that type of talk originates from.We must not repeat the past, the past is what has the country in the mess it's in today.

Obama make a dump choice for not picking Hillary as his running mate. The Democt Crack made a SSUUUPPP choice to picked Obama.
The man with unexperience. A rockie only talk for nothing. The agent of Change. Man sorry but I dont think he know what he is talking about.
Obama is going to lose this election. It is too late to ask for help from Bill& Hill.

Even veterans at a Canadian Legion picnic today were talking about, wondering about, the depth of the tiesof the Palins to Alaskan Separatist Movement. The information is from the internet, NOT CNN or MSM. National Enquirer will out do y'all again!
It was a joke how she will not do interviews, except maybe Hannity, but DRUMMED up a story, which CNN danced to, about not being allowed on Oprah!!?? Now Oprah should jump at it to WATCH her back peddle.
Yes it was NOT her who lied about the plane selling on EBay for a profit, it WAS McCain. She gave it to a repub friend at a cut rate, loss. WHY (why) are Palin supporters, Bush admirers, demanding equal time for Palin!!?? BIDEN has NEVER been on Oprah!!!!!!

NO, stop helping the loser!!! You carry a lot of weight President Clinton and Senator Clinton but you don't have to help this egotist.

I wonder what the Clintons are going to tell him to help him on this day in which he and McCain should be remembering those who died.

Don't do it Bill and Hill... he's only using you after he and the DNC have stabbed you both in the back.

I bet anything that Obama has something very special in store for Hillary. Dems just have to have faith. The Republicans are very steathy and secretive, why don't you think they will let Palin interview without having a chance to learn McClains platform. Palin doew not always tell the truth. She uses double talk and changes her mind. She did not sell her plane in ebay and she took a loss. She was for the "bridge to nowhere" at the get go but backed off. She supports big oli companies. Perhaps she and McCain should offer to the people that the government will drill and leave big oil companies out of it. Food for thought.

This Palin interview is a joke most likely. I am sure she will know what the questions are in advance and they have probably told Gibson what he can and cannot ask. Just like Saddleback..a big sham. McCain knmew the questions in advance. That was so obvious or he has ESP and can answer que4stions before they are asked. These two people are the biggest liars i HAVE EVER SEEN. And you call her a Christian? What a joke.

I think Clinton is going to tell Obama how to really take it to McCain. The Palin pick has made it clear to the CLintons how far McCain is willing to sell his soul to be popular with teh Republicans.

Forget the Iraq war, forget the economy...I think the number 1 issue should be EDUCATION. How on Earth can Americans even think of voting for a Republican ticket after their last 8 years in office? This is why the US will not be able to compete with other countries in the long run, because people would rather vote for a "Hot Chick" than face the real issues drowning this great country. Pathetic!

I am reading Ron Paul's book Revolution: A Manifesto, and it makes me realize that this campaign, that was suppossed to serious and compelling, has turned into the same old things we heard last time. And yes, Obama, needs to have Hilary in a powerful position. She deserves it, and she would get the job done.

If people vote their economics Obama-Biden win in a landslide, but if they vote onpersonality then MCbush-MCmoose win in a close race.

Can we trust four more years of the republicans, they are so desperate to keep the white house that they go and get sarah palin by the way who is running at the top of the ticket, it seems like its palin, she is carrying the old man.

  25. Stop the madness, Mike

To Mike who said "OBAMA WILL LOSE...GO HILLARY 2102."

What do you see wrong with this date? Maybe a ~160 year old Hillary? They always say "Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line." Perhaps this is the reason why Democrats have won only 3 elections in the past 40 YEARS despite being on the right side of the issues.

Stop the madness and support the candidate that best represents the issues you care about most!
