Obama, Bill Clinton to sit down for a private lunch

The Clintons and Sen. Obama sat next to one another last week at the funeral of an Ohio Congresswoman.

(CNN) – Sen. Barack Obama and former president Bill Clinton will share a private lunch together on Thursday, September 11, CNN has confirmed.

Clinton issued the invite to Obama after learning he would be in Manhattan for a joint appearance with Sen. John McCain on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, according to Clinton Foundation spokesman Matt McKenna.

The luncheon is another sign that the Clinton and Obama camps are moving forward in the spirit of unity. Major steps toward healing the party came during the Democratic National Convention where Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Clinton, individually addressed convention-goers, appealing to them to support Obama come November. Sen. Clinton made the motion for Obama to be formally nominated as the Democratic presidential nominee.

Hillary Clinton is set to campaign for Obama in Florida Monday, and the former president has said he will campaign on Obama’s behalf but does not have any campaign events scheduled yet.

    I'm so glad to hear this. Bill and Hillary both need to demonstrate that they care more about America's needs than their own.

    And Clinton supporters need to show they care more about Hillary's principles that about throwing their vote away out of spite.

    Sen. Clinton looks so sad in that picture at the loss of her dear true friend. She did amazing things and will be sorely missed.

    Think of the military..

    You fight, but eventually, you'll need to re-supply to fight more wars.

    It's time to re-supply. Let Obama absorb the stress and attract talents. He has less baggages and he can do it.

    My comment is not about Obama & the Clinton's, is about how all the media is given so mush attention to Pailan and people also think that she is ready to be a VP just for a good night or speech. I mean please is it that easy to get a chance to the white house.

    If Obama expects to win back some Hillary supporters that may be considering defecting to the McCain camp, he should extend a public olive branch to both Clintons. In fact, I would like to see him put her in charge of health care – an issue near and dear to her heart – or in some other position if he were to be elected. That would certainly appease many of her supporters, like me.

    It would be great if Obama would have one of the clinton's in his cabinent. As they say too much is at stake and we need the democrats controlling the white house.

    The party is already healed. Those clinton supporters who do not support the policies of the party were never democrats but republicans looking for a president raced on gender and not policies.

    I have to add one more reply to the guy in the story about Obama once considered joining the military. And hopefully CNN will see fit to publish it this time. You republicans think Obama changes his positions. McCain has changed his position on so many things in the past 8 years that he is almost indistinguishable from MCBUSH. He is so joined at the hip with him that you can not tell them apart. Mcpalin is no maverick either. She has requested more earmarks per capita than any state in the union. She is just as corrupt as the current administration. If we elect these two people we will be the laughing stock of the free world. But if thats what you want, just keep your head in the sand.

    CNN should really give up on this polling task, given that they are NOT really good at it!!

    But then, I still live in a nation where people truly believe that…

    1. life begins at conception, and therefore, the life of Christ only started at conception;

    2. paying higher taxes means giving to the poor; the poor should be left on their own;

    3. life, at the time of conception, is more important than life that is maintained and how it ends;

    4. experience is more important than "good" judgement, even when you go wrong 95% of the time.

    5. only Republicans know how to defend and protect this country against war etc. as though only Republicans serve in the military

    6. only the "morally right" or just has the right judgment to lead this nation; democrats do not have these moral rights;

    7. there is no clear distinction between the Constitution of the U.S. and the 10 commandments, although the Republicans believe that they do not need to keep these commandments, they are there to see to it that the commandments are kept by the democrats!!

    I think this is a good sign for the Dems. How is senator Clinton going to help senator Obama is unknown? However, it is important for the country to know the difference between senator Clinton and governor Palin. The difference between the two is night and day. It would be good to learn more about governor Palin's stands on issues.

    It works in Canada and England and the people will love you and never forget what you have done for them, their children and their elderly.

    The Clinton's will always be major players in the Democratic party. I think it's a given that both of them will have a role in an Obama administration if they want it.

    Obama is losing by 3% per latest Gallup poll, CNN give us the real truth ! Obama is running to the Clintons for help now- after he deserted Hillary. Obama had considered joining the military- that is nothing compare to McCain's family of military service since the American Revolution, his 4-stars grandfather and father, his sacrifice in Vietnam, his refusing to renounce America and the punishment he received. Obama is desperate because for the first time he is really afraid to lose. Democrats better stop attacking Palin's family ! Obama's family is a worse mess- his father is a polygamous, left a wife in Kenia to have one in Hawaii and baby Obama, and then left her again to have another wife from Harvard. His father died as a drunkard. No wonder he doesn't want to bring in family and yet his henchmen are doing all the dirty work on Palin. Obama talks alot and promises alot to get your votes- he will definitely raise taxes and that will not be enough to fullfill his promises. Obama has been wrong about everything in his foreign policies- he flip flops all the time when he is wrong. Stick with the experienced McCain/Palin ticket- that's really the change you can believe in.
