Biden jokes about Palin's sharpshooting

Biden Joked about Palin's sharpshooting Monday.
Biden Joked about Palin's sharpshooting Monday.

KALISPELL, Montana (CNN) – Joe Biden joked Sunday that GOP nominee Sarah Palin should be held to the same standard as other candidates for the White House—except in one area where she’s clearly got the edge. “It's not whether Sarah Palin can aim an assault rifle and hit dead target - which she probably can, and I hope it's not me,” he joked at a campaign event in Montana.

Palin’s speech to the Republican National Convention was peppered with references to her rural Alaskan upbringing, including time spent fishing and snowmobiling.

But Biden said she needed to talk more about issues. At a media availability, Biden cited Palin’s noticeable absence from the Sunday morning talk shows earlier that day. Biden, Barack Obama and John McCain all gave sit-down interviews.

Biden said Palin should do the same.

“Somewhere along the line…she will start to stand before the nation and the public and you know, determine whether or not her views, her breadth of knowledge, her record, is one that people say ‘yeah I want that person as vice president, a heartbeat away from being president,’” Biden said.

He also disagreed with pundits who say he’ll have to approach with caution the upcoming vice presidential debate, saying “they’re in a time warp.” Biden and Palin will meet on October 2 at Washington University in St. Louis.

“It seems like the only people in the room that think that debating a woman is going to be fundamentally different are people who don’t hang around with smart women,” Biden said. “I mean, you know, the idea that I’ve not debated tough, smart women. Come to the Senate man. Take on Barbara Mikulski. Take on Olympia Snowe. You know, take on Dianne Feinstein. Take on Barbara Boxer. Take on you know, the list goes on.”

Biden is going to murder this pathetic joke of a running mate. People from her own state are scared of the idea of her being VP.

Obama/Biden 08. Vote for real change.

I guess Mr. Cheny and Mrs. Palin have something in common, maybe they can go hunting together.

When people keeps seeing how much paliar lies they will get turned off. Nail her to the wall Joe, at least we know you tell the truth no matter how painful it is. Doesn't it bother anyone how paliar lied so much during the rethuglican convention? And the rethuglicans say they are the moral base, for who? The devil?

Palin wants to appear on Oprah's show. Yup, Oprah. The suggestion is totally ridiculous, but the argument is put forth that Obama has appeared on the show. So has McCain, Hillary, and a host of others who were not running for office at the time. Obama appeared on her show promoting his books, as part of her book club thing she has going.

    I suggest the "The View".

Exactly. Why should Joe have to take it easy on her? It is a debate. If someone is dumb enough to vote for Palin because Biden wasnt easy on her should have their voting rights revoked for voting abuse.

U know what, if this country doesn't open its eyes and vote Obama-Biden and do whats right for this nation it leads me to conclude that this nation is in fact crumbling and falling much like the Roman empire did centuries ago.

How insulting to women that Republicans think that their VP nominee can't hold her own in debates, simply because she is a woman. Would the same thing be said about Romney, for instance?

This is part of the whole Republican view of women, and smart women will see right through it.

If she can't hold her own agains Joe Biden, regardless of his tenacity, then she doesn't deserve your vote.

Um, yeah, Joe, the list goes on . . .

But you aren't debating those women before the American voters in a highly-inflammatory campaign. No one is going to cry "sexism" during a debate on the Senate floor.

    Important notice to HRC supporters:

Many of you are still upset that she lost, but please realize that’s how BO’s supporters would have felt had things been the opposite. If you are planning to vote Republican because of your grievance, please remember that if Hillary’s campaign pitch does nothing to halt the rising star, Mrs. Palin, then guess what? Hillary’s second chance at redemption in 2012 will be CRUSHED if Mrs. Palin gains even more momentum and Americans are happy with her, regardless of their affiliation with her issues.

Why the media loved this speech, I will never know. It was all sarcasm and no substance. CNN, quit praising her just because she's a woman and actually listen to the words in the speech. It was a mess.

CNN, how many comments disputing Palin's merit as a candidate will you allow before closing this one?

You go Biden, she must be on the same level as everyone else. McCain thought that everyone would be afraid of her as they want to use the Sexist card to get away from dealing with the issues. I am just hoping that the media will not get SOFT now that they are crying Sexist. If women want to have equal opportunities then they must play by the same rules. I am a women and I do not expect anyone to change the rules of the game for me. If I know I cannot stand the heat I will not get into the kitchen.

Ok, let's say she is a smart woman but it seems more conniving than smart. More nasty than strategic. She can not possibly think she can be a heartbeat away from the Presidency with no vision, no policy, just say I do and then I don't attitude. That will surely go over well with Russia. Now, move on, roll up your sleeves and DEMS, Independents and disillusioned or otherwise Repubs we need all the energy directed at getting out the vote to SAVE this country from the same tactics Bush beat Gore with in 2000. Do you remember? Can you feel the results in your lives today? Time to move past Palin, she is a nobody trying to be somebody and the Repubs will only help her as long as she helps them. Put a muzzle on her name, do not mention her name. Let the media do the talking, they will soon tire. Hillary is devoting her enegy to Obama you should too! Obama 08!

Come on Joe- you know she is still rehearsing her lines and being quizzed by tucker bounds on the type of questions she will be asked.
This whole thing makes me want to throw up- Sarah Palin is a joke- the GOP is making her look more and more like a joke- and God help us all if the right wingers finagle their way into 4 more years!!

Biden is right! Neither the public nor Palin should expect that a man has to be deferential in a debate with a woman who is running for VP. Inherent in that is the presumption that she can't handle intelligent debate! If she can't, she is the wrong candidate. I don't think Russian, Iranian, Syrian or any other world leader will think they owe her deference due to her gender. And I agree with them and Biden!

I am a stupid American because I think George Bush did a great job. John McCain will continue Bush's plan. This nation of whiners need to stop because the economy is fundamentally strong. Gov. Palin made the right choice about Trig. She CHOSE pro-life. Gov. Palin knows more about foreign policy than John McCain. John McCain is an economic expert. John McCain will never end the war because ending the war is wrong.

Vice President Biden, she does not talk with it being written in fear that another lie will fall out of her mouth. What will she walk about other than you and President Obama? She has nothing to stand on, she has not done anything to this point but spew lies. and the real issues that are on table, she has no answer or plan, just like McCain.
And good for you Joe to let her know that she can't play the gender card. It's an equal opportunity country right? Than she can get a verbal butt kicking, like a man can too. I can't stand Paliar. She makes me want to puke. Get her Joe and get her good.

Sarah Palin is a one-act play, and it's time for Barack Obama to bring the curtain down by exposing her lies and misrepresentations and her shoddy record as a mayor and as a governor.
