Biden jokes about Palin's sharpshooting

Biden Joked about Palin's sharpshooting Monday.

KALISPELL, Montana (CNN) – Joe Biden joked Sunday that GOP nominee Sarah Palin should be held to the same standard as other candidates for the White House—except in one area where she’s clearly got the edge. “It's not whether Sarah Palin can aim an assault rifle and hit dead target - which she probably can, and I hope it's not me,” he joked at a campaign event in Montana.

Palin’s speech to the Republican National Convention was peppered with references to her rural Alaskan upbringing, including time spent fishing and snowmobiling.

But Biden said she needed to talk more about issues. At a media availability, Biden cited Palin’s noticeable absence from the Sunday morning talk shows earlier that day. Biden, Barack Obama and John McCain all gave sit-down interviews.

Biden said Palin should do the same.

“Somewhere along the line…she will start to stand before the nation and the public and you know, determine whether or not her views, her breadth of knowledge, her record, is one that people say ‘yeah I want that person as vice president, a heartbeat away from being president,’” Biden said.

He also disagreed with pundits who say he’ll have to approach with caution the upcoming vice presidential debate, saying “they’re in a time warp.” Biden and Palin will meet on October 2 at Washington University in St. Louis.

“It seems like the only people in the room that think that debating a woman is going to be fundamentally different are people who don’t hang around with smart women,” Biden said. “I mean, you know, the idea that I’ve not debated tough, smart women. Come to the Senate man. Take on Barbara Mikulski. Take on Olympia Snowe. You know, take on Dianne Feinstein. Take on Barbara Boxer. Take on you know, the list goes on.”

Joe – the republican machine is going to call you sexist no matter what you do. Rove's pick, Schmidt, at work.

First Rove runs the WH – Schmidt next?

One thing's for sure: when Palin shoots somebody in the face, it won't be birdshot.

    Hillary supporters should vote McCain.
She was disrespected and Obama campaign played race card against Bill over and over again.
Now the democrats have this "karaoke" candidate.
    McCain 2008
    Hillary 2012

Palin was a runner up to the Miss. Alaska contest about twenty five years ago. if McBush and Paleny entered a contest today they would both win titles. McBush would win ' Miss Judgement 'and Palin would win ' Miss Stake '.

That would be Herr Rove and all his minions in the Gay Old Party.

Will Obama dump Biden for Hillary if he falls 15-20 points behind McCain in the polls? That may be the democratic surprise in October. All this typical mudslinging by the Obama camp at Sara Palin isn't working.

Joe better start worrying more about that debate than making jokes about sharpshooting. She can speak on policy more convincingly and more clearly than a guy who has been in the Senate for 35 years.

Senator Biden is right, where is Palin? She can't hide behind McCain until election day.

I want America to see what kind of idiot has been chosen as a VP candidate. Where is her experience? I don't care what the Republicans are now saying, if Senator Obama had picked a VP candidate with Palin's experience, they would be running ads about his leadership and what a poor pick.

She because she is white, female, hockey mom, hunter, gun totting wanna be VP does not give her automatic ascension into the White House.

    Say NO to Palin!

Biden is not mentioning that he is known for being overly caustic and relish this reputation. I have watched him in debates over the years and he can be very viscious.
If he treats Palin with disrespect or overtly unfair, he will have the women of this country on his butt, bigtime.

What's wrong with being a frontiers-woman? Sounds like fun to me.

I'm sorry, if Obama asked for special treatment, everyone would cry RACISM. Palin claims she's a pitbull...BRING IT, and your lip chap.

Biden can only joke about Palins sharpshooting. Joe Biden could not even hold a candle to Sarahas shooting....Or her knowledge about firearms or hunting,,,Joe Biden must be hurting real bad if this is all he has to offer today.

This is no longer about the issues. The right now has a celebrity and it won't matter what she says or does. They're trying to shut down the investigation. They have people in Alaska trying to squash anyone from saying anything bad about her. People are afraid to talk. She'll just spew one liners in the debates. She'll get thrown softballs in interviews. She and McCain are spreading lies about her record and about Obama's plan. And the American people are buying it all. It's all very sad.

    Excellent point Shari from NY.

Sarah Palin's first interview will be from Alaska of all places, with the ever so hard hitting Charlie Gibson. Now do you suppose he's given her the questions already so she can practice up? Gee I wonder....

Unbelievable that she was not doing the Sunday morning circuit. All this tells me is that she is totally unprepared for her role as VP or even as the candidate for VP. If she can't answer off the cuff questions from the media, how would she deal with a crisis? Katrina anyone? George Bush sitting for what? 7 minutes when told about the Twin Towers?

I really hope that Biden makes it perfectly clear that Mccain only claimed to be an agent of change when he found out the people had had enough. Decided to find a token Hillary, tutor her in foreign policy with Bush administration staff, campaign for her and then ride her coat tails to the election. God help us if we are not more intellegent than that.

STOP Saying her name in public do not talk about the Republician V. P. Only talk about the issues and the Plans you have to MAKE the Change. Show how McCain has no plan. Only more of the SAME but in a worse package.

For the media, this is good political theater. First the Obama-Hillary primary saga, and now trying to run another "Obama-Hillary" saga except Hillary's name is replaced with that of Palin.

Biden and Obama are handling the Palin factor satisfactorily based on what is known of her publicly. Biden on MEET THE PRESS said Palin was a "smart, tough and formidable politician". Obama most of the time ignores questions about her.

Biden is "brilliantly" helping to elevate Palin in the media, before he debates her. Biden is the most knowledgeable politician of the 4 candidates. Seeing him on MEET THE PRESS and deflating Tom Brokaw's media love of "The Surge agrument has worked" was scary. His knowledge of foreign affairs is something that can't be learned in 3 weeks, especially with the constantly changing international environment.

For Obama, i heard him at some town hall meetings really sharpening his resolutions on fixing the economy. I feel sorry for McCain if he doesn't study in the next two weeks.

Between Obama really hammering in the domestic policy issues like the economy and Biden hammering in the foreign policy issues, McCain and Palin are in for quite a surprise.

    DUH!

This is upsetting – the media are already convinced anything Biden says about Palin IS sexist, and so Biden has to completely avoid attacking her. That's okay though, Hillary is the only one who can say what needs to be said.
