Joe Biden said 'Palin has some very extreme views.'

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (CNN) – Joe Biden said Monday that vice presidential opponent Sarah Palin seems to have "some very extreme views."

Speaking to a union crowd in Wisconsin, Biden also said he hasn't heard enough specifics from the Alaska governor, and that he's hoping to learn more about her positions before the two debate October 2.

"Hopefully by the time the debate takes place, we’ll have a better sense of her other than some of what she says and what appear to be some very extreme views," Biden said.

Watch: Palin hits the campaign trail

"I’m assuming that she shares John McCain’s views on most of the issues. And she even says, if the press is correct - and I’m not ready, prepared to make a judgment [on this] - her views on everything from global warming to other things, if they are as presented, they’re pretty far out there."

Extreme? No, Joe, they just make sense. You and your buddy Beerock H Uhbluhba are lost.

Thomas   September 8th, 2008 2:58 pm ET

Right on target Biden!!

Palin believes in converting gays, banning books at her local library in Alaska, Iraq debacle was God's will, no abortion EVEN in cases of rape and incest, schools should teach creationism, cut funds for special education, and much much more.

She is VERY VERY scary...DO NOT FALL FOR THIS BULLCRAP ABOUT HER BEING A MAVERICK!!!!! She is a dangerous, intolerant, ignorant, right-wing religious nutjob!!!!

debbie   September 8th, 2008 2:57 pm ET

She has been on the national scene for what 2 weeks now and atleast she has views(extreme or not), you have been there close to 30yrs and i still am trying to figure out what your views are about anything. I do give you credit for one thing though.. you do stick with what you say unlike Obama who seems to change his stance based on who he is taking to. If it was a Biden/Obama ticket i would have voted for you even with all the short comings but unfortunatly you will be another cheney if obama gets elected.

Democrat for Mccain!

Matt, Manchester, CT   September 8th, 2008 2:57 pm ET

Those extreme views don't seem to extend to stereotyping Indian-Americans, do they Senator Biden?

Maggie Hogan   September 8th, 2008 2:57 pm ET

And McCain calls himself a patriot. Selecting a candidate with little to no experience in such important areas as Foreign Policy and who is so extreme to the right that women's rights are being threatened.
How can American's believe the lies the McCain campaign is pushing.

Americans wake up! Just because Sarah Palin is a woman is NO reason to vote for her. Do your research! Read for a change.

And Obama....get out there and FIGHT!

Stephanie   September 8th, 2008 2:57 pm ET

Gene,
Her views are NOT mainstream! Extreme is an understatement. I, an everyday average American, am completely petrified that she could one day run this country.

Also, there are major subjects (global warming, the war in Iraq, etc...) that she has said she doesn't know enough to have an opinion. We don't need someone who has to "cram for the exam". Scary!

vicky   September 8th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

Biden wants to be Mr. Nice Guy so he begins his statements by giving Palin the benefit of the doubt. I am really dissapointed with his nice guy attitude. Why is he being nice? Pitbulls are attack dogs and have turned on their owners or children many times. That red on the pitbull is not lipstick. Both McCain and Biden must beware.
CNN why is it when comments are still open and when I submit you tell me comments are closed? Is this censorship?

CW4Barack   September 8th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

Let's pray and use our votes to stop the madness.....make sure you talk to your friends and ensure everyone you know who is eligible to vote is registered to vote. This morning I heard McBush is leading in the polls and that is just too scary! The Dems can't act like whimps and not hit back at her and hit back hard....forget this don't want to beat up on the hockey mom crap....she is out their attacking and attacking....let's see how well she can defend! They need to turn this pitbull with lipstick into a whimpering chuhuahua!

Jon   September 8th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

After reading all post from all the stories it seems as if those voting for Obame/Biden actually want to pay more of their hard earned money to the government because that is what is going to happen if they get elected, but you dont have to worry. McCain and Palin will will.

mary, colorado springs co   September 8th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

Obama/Biden ticket is the best we could hope for.

McCain and Palin are running on past experiences, not what they plan for the future. I sick and tired of their constant recitations of HIS POW experience and HER mayoral duties in a 2-bit, wide spot in the road and machinations to get to the governorship.

Obama and Biden tell it like it is and what they plan for the future and don't try to slide in on their past experiences. As a voter, I can't ask for more.

OBAMA/BIDEN 2008

Michael J, Toronto   September 8th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

You want to talk about "extreme views." What about Obama attending his church for 20 years and the "extreme views" they hold.

MS   September 8th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

Sarah Palin, has not been allowed to interview..isn't that good enough that she has no knowledge of real issues, Americans are facing. They are hiding her because she is getting a crash course on…
Economics 101
Health care 101
Foreign Affaris 101
After the crash course she will come out swinging and people will fall for her…I just dont get it, if people are stupid and think Mccain and Palin will bring about change..then they dont deserve Obama/Biden.They can elect Mccain and take the county down the toilet.
But I know for sure that I am gonna do the rite thing, I will do my part will you…

george   September 8th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

i think al goracle has some extreme views on the "global warmings". biden's got it backwards.

leave it to a democrat to attack anyone for taking a stance on anything, rather than letting the latest polls form their opinions at the moment.

i especially like the part where biden says palin is extreme, then says he doesn't know enough about her. make up your mind biden

Are you kidding??   September 8th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

Gene DiGilio: 'Mainstream'? Palin beleives in creationism , that the Alaska pipeline is 'God's will', and in the banning of books. She supports the Alaskan independence party, and thinks that $4,000 per person of federal earmarks is appropriate for a small Alaskan town. She's a lot of things, but certainly not mainstream.

Cathy   September 8th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

Gov. Palin's views are very extreme. This woman will stop at nothing to spread her lies and backward views. Biden, do not take it easy on her just because she is a lady. Go after her and take her down.

linda n carolina   September 8th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

bert   September 8th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

All the repubs are doing is letting us get to know Palin but there has to be a reason they won't let her give interviews with the media. WE DO NOT NEED ANYBODY WHO IS SO AFRAID OF HERSELF AND THE THINGS SHE HAS DONE TO THE POINT THAT SHE WILL NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM THE PRESS OR COME ON THE SUNDAY MORNING CIRCUIT SO WE CAN HEAR HER ANSWER SOME OF THIS STUFF. This doesn't look like straight talk to me. The repubs should be running on a no talk platform instead of the lie that they are running on right now. Please vote for Obama!!!!

8) the smilin' guy   September 8th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

I hope O wins, but I have my doubts. And if we don't win, it certainly won't be Hillary's fault. The blame lays squarely on Pelosi, Reid, and Dean. Jealous little minded politicians who just couldn't stand being bossed around by another Clinton. If we lose, I certainly hope these three lose their seats to a primary challenger. They have done NOTHING... ZIP! SQUAT! for Americans since taking the house and senate last year. Except for minimum wage... I will give them that. So... that's it? That's what we get, for getting you self absorbed losers into a leading position in house senate and party? A modest raise in the minimum wage. arrrrghhhhh!!!!

Tired of W, OH   September 8th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

Extremist views....

No abortion exceptions, even for cases of rape and incest.

Ban all library books with views opposing your own (and fire the librarian if they oppose you).

Force schools to teach creationism, even though there is no scientific basis for it. (Ever hear of Catholic schools?)

Misuse political power for personal revenge (trooper-gate).

Carol TX   September 8th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

Gene....are kidding??? As an "average" American she DOES NOT speak for me, personally I am Pro-Life but politically Pro-Choice as I feel I cannot make decisions regarding any one's body but my own.

This nut is for ALL abortions even in cases of rape, as my 14 yr old niece was raped and was impreganted from this vicious crime I tend to be just a bit more lenient.

The decision to abort the child was a "personal" choice for her family as she was and to this date, 8 years later, emotionally scared but we pray not for life.

It kills me to see her flinch each time a male is within 10 feet of her, SO AS AN AVERAGE AMERICAN SHE DOES NOT SPEAK FOR ME.

Mark Cross Junction VA   September 8th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

Hey Joe at least she has views and more than 1% of voters! Don't give up your daytime job.

John, Washington DC   September 8th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

1) 'Extreme'? Take a look at your running mate Biden – Obama has one of the (if not THE) most liberal voting records in the Senate. Is he not at the 'extreme' edge of the spectrum?

2) CNN – why won't you cover the Obama lawsuit in Philly to the same degree as the Alaska State Trooper fizzle?

Extreme   September 8th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

You know those Catholics, all rage and hatred... who was that one Catholic? Oh yeah, John F. Kennedy. Yes, he was a bad one!

I could care less about the personal faith of a candidate; I do want to hear from a candidate that religion is a personal thing and not to be involved with politics.

We are not the ones starting the wars; we are finishing them. To sit back and let the extremists usher in Sharia law is stupid. We are a secular nation; our motto is "Out of many, One", not "In God we trust"; Palin may be an evangelical Christian but that's fine with me as long as she leaves it at home; Obama is hype and fluff.

Amber in AZ   September 8th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

She does have extreme views. This week she said that Freddie Mac and Fannie May have gotten too big and too expensive for the tax payers! Uh Oh! Apparently she didn't know that they were private companies until the goverment stepped in recently. What else doesn't she know...A LOT!

Excuse me Mr. DiGilo, there's nothing mainstream about Sarah Palin. She mouths the GOP partyline's lies and baseless smeers and promotes views that are to the very far right by any thinking person's standards. As the weeks progress this will become obvious to everyone.

Jeff In Tennessee   September 8th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

All the Obama people are running scared and only post such negativity. McCain /Palin will win this election and bring change only they can. Their views are not extreme they are what the United States need. Obama/Biden ... now thats extreme in two ways according to what sideof their mouth they are speaking from today.

McCain and Palin: A Bridge to Nowhere

Leah DiMarco, Texas   September 8th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

Palin is against all abortion even in the event of rape and incest.
Palin does not believe in global warming.
Palin is Pro-Oil.
Palin does not want polar bears to be protected – she is anti-environment and she WEARS FURS.
Palin made her first huge gaffe – she thought the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were government agencies and not privately owned.
Palin.
Palin kept the 400 MILLION dollars bridge to nowhere money for the state of Alaska....
Palin's church is a CULT.
Palin is a republican PUPPET.
Wake up America!

Bruce   September 8th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

Good way to ask the questions about what Palin really stands for. But do not let her LIE and get off easy. Each lie she tell must be challenged. EBAY???? Bridge to Nowhere???? The fact that her brother-in-law was not put in jail for all the things that he "DID TO HER SISTE AN HERE FAMILY' suggests that there was really nothing ligally wrong, and that she had to resort to misusing her power to get at him.

Tell the people that reucing spending on un-needed military projects will provide more money to support and grown the military. Obamaa said several time he supports the military and voted for the GI BILL and VA Reform. Both voted against by McCain

Joe   September 8th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

Gene DiGillo's statement that Palin's views are "mainstream" is typical of the radical right-wing. They advocate positions that are clearly in the minority of opinion, then they trumpet them as American, mainstream, so-called "family values" so much that some people begin to believe it. Palin's views are far from mainstream.

John in Ohio   September 8th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

"Seems extremist" indeed.

Antiabortion, even in cases of rape and incest, which a lot of people find to be a morally reprehensible position.

Creationist.

Actively anti-environment, to the extent that she hunts wolves from a helicopter and doesn't think polar bears should be endangered.

Believes that the Iraq War was a mission from God, and that a natural gas pipeline from Alaska to the lower 48 is ordained by God.

Doesn't know what a vice president does.

Doesn't know how Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are funded (or were funded), even as she attacked what she didn't know anything about.

Basically if America votes Palin and McCain into office, we deserve what we get. Namely, more war, more death, more bankruptcy, no health care, ruined environment, more in debt to the Chinese, and a lot less importance on the global stage, except as ineffective foil to an increasingly powerful Russia.

RSB   September 8th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

To Gene DiGillio:

I am an average American. I have three small children, I am a stay at home mom, my husband goes out every day and makes a living to support us. I spend my day being my children's chauffer from ballet to football practices.

Look, I do not believe in attempting to ban books from public libraries, or No to abortion even in the case of Rape or Incest (try to think about telling a 14 year old girl molested and pregnant by her own father that she has to 'be tough and carry the baby for 9 months'. I understand a stance to preserve life but I never hear about what happens to the mother's who would be forced to continue the pregnancies against their own will when it wasn't an "oops" situation. I have a daughter and I have to think about protecting her.

I am for Stem Cell Research, Palin says no.

I don't believe that Alaska should be independent from the USA, however, (and there is video), Palin spoke at the AIP's Convention and her husband was an active member for 5 years (check it out for yourself-which is what you should ALWAYS do anyway).

What I am saying Gene, is that I am an average, everyday American and I don't consider Palin's views about the world mainstream.

Maria in Crawford, Texas   September 8th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

I have been hearing many Republicans say in defense of Palin's Convention speech, so what, Obama gives a good speech and uses a teleprompter too!!! Guess what?! Obama writes his speeches, unlike Palin who got her from Bush's speech writer.

Now onto the Oil companies. I wish the government would take back all the oil leases that they have given big oil companies and do it theirselves. Does anyone realize that oil companies are drilling on land owned by the USA, which id really you and me? They pump the oil that already belongs to the American people and then sell it back to us!!!! Sure the are paying something for the lease on the land, but it can't be anywhere near what they are making or charging us. If the government took it over, had government owned rigs and refineries, the cost of gas would be so much less. Wake up America! Another 4 years of Republicans will only make them richer and us poorer.

Chris   September 8th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

Gene, you are clearly and completely out of touch with mainstream Americans. A majority (which defines mainstream) disagree with her on global warming, stem cell research, the roll of the US in the world, the right choose, tax cuts for the wealthy. Palin is about as far right as a candidate can get.

Hopefully the media will actually do their job(s) and report on her and her crazy views.

Rajinder Goyal   September 8th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

Sarah Palin is an extremist of the worst order. Here are some of her extremist views: The war in Iraq was an act of God, She is a member of NRA and as such believes in every citizen's right to have a gun, opposes abortion even in case of incest or rape, and the list goes on. Its a sad commentary on our times that McCain had to have a person like her by his side to satisfy the extremists in his party on his side. Extremism of any kind is bad in the best of times. A President and/or a VP, has to have an open mind while governing the country so they can make an informed decision that is in the best interest of the country. MCCain and Palin do not fit that bil by any standards.

America – wake up! look at the unemployment rate, the war, the economy, the government. Do not make another mistake. This is such a great country, but the people are so gullible. What do we know about Sarah? Because of her ignorance and deficiency in education, she is being sheltered under the umbrella of Mac's team. If she was so capable, and was following current affairs as a governor of any of our unions should have, how come she does not know the issues of the candidates? If she was so capable, why can't Mac let her out on her own to be interviewed? This was grossly reckless for Mac to select this person as his running mate. A person who has to be tutored to answer questions. The speech that she gave last week was written by Bush speech writer. I am a veteran, and I wouldn't let her lead me from my living room to my bathroom. i have a small house. It is a shame Mac. I thought you said "Country First." Shame on you.

SARAH PALIN does have extreme views.

She said just a few weeks ago that she didn't have a clue what a VICE PRESIDENT DOES.

She made some odd remarks during a speech at her church available on youtube.

She took Obama's position on offering windfall oil profit taxes back to her taxpayers in Alaska.

How can Palin cherish 'Life' as a pro-lifer, and promote death through 'War'? Does the American people have a choice or do we all follow Palin's religious restrictions which are in essence a contradiction on the sanctity of life.

Sarah Palin is DICK CHENEY WITH LIPSTICK!! You got to give it to Karl Rove though, he sure knows how to pick a VP for his party. The FEARFUL RIGHT ate it up. America dooped again. The unqualified but hot weather girl. One time, two times, three times fools. Who said they couldn’t do it again? Who said America was smarter this time around? Who said Bush couldn’t win a 3rd term if he ran again?? The FEAR FACTOR always dominates. It’s just amazing that a party who works for 3% of the people manages to fool an entire 51% into believing they work for them too. Amazing. I had an epiphany yesterday watching the TV show Hole in the Wall. We are screwed. We are an Idiocracy.

Former republican white man from california for Obama   September 8th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

Gene I hate to burst your bubble but the main stream in America does not believe that religious teaching should be in public schools, nor does the mainstream think that if a women is raped or has gone through incest that she should not have the right to abort the child, nor that science should be taken out of schools, nor that this war in Iraq is a holy war from god! git a grip! not all America is social conservative or extremist in there views this is a country of many not one minority

WHO BETTER THAN ALASKANS KNOW ABOUT THEIR OWN GOVERNOR -REFORMER SARAH PALIN. IN A VERY SHORT TIME SINCE HER NOMINATION , HER DETRACTORS (THE MEDIA INCLUDED) HAVE HEAPED SO MUCH TRASH TALK ON HER, IT'S UNBELIEVABLE AND SO DISGUSTING WHEN A NETWORK
COMEDIAN ? EVEN TALKED ABOUT HER BABY WHO HAS DOWN SYNDROME AND SHOULD NOT BE A SUBJECT OF DISCUSSION
AT ALL.. GOVERNOR PALIN KNEW MONTHS IN ADVANCE ABOUT HER BABY . SHE OPTED TO HAVE THE CHILD REGARDLESS.
SHE OPTED FOR HER BEILIEF IN THE SANCTITY OF LIFE.

Well first off, Palin is not extreme this @#$%^ is flat out crazy. I mean, her claim to fame is knowoing how to kill with a rifle, lie straight in the face of her fellow countrymen and women, she is in favor of dictating what people do and think, she has books removed from a public library, she rules with a my way or the highway mentality? She appears reminscent of some short guy in Germany back in 1936 with a funny mustache. Can't recall his name though (sarcasim). Paliar will never be my Vice President.

Sounds like anything Sarah Palin does, says or even if she blinks an eyelash is a problem for the loons on the left , the reality is this women is smart, strong, a quick study and most of all she giving the Dems something to bite their nails about, they also better buy diapers, she's not going anywhere, what a shame that a women that is obviously qualified and intelligent is not celebrated by all genders , for only in America can a women accomplish all ,family and career. It's unfortunate that this country is so devided by partison BS, instead of appreciating what as a whole entire nation we have to offer.

She does have extreme views. She is an extremist. How can you ask the local librarian to ban books in America? How can you make a talk at church and say that going to war in Iraq is "God's plan." George Bush's plan yes. God's plan NO. George Bush does not have a direct line to God – he does however have the ability to make the ill-informed and extremist "Christian" Right think he is doing God's work. Sick.

Trysh, Los Angeles   September 8th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

Before McCain picked Pilan, I figured that if either one wins it would be alright. Only now that I do more and more research on her views and her method of government, I strongly do NOT want McCain to win. If he does win we all have to pray that McCain stays healthly. The thought of a President Pilan would be a true nightmare.

mike   September 8th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

I love you left wing crazies and lets include the idiot Ric from England. He is right about one thing, this country has done nothing to "deserve" oshame. He becomes President, it will be time to leave what will become a welfare state. Do nothings being supported by the majority of the people. Cut the military, raise taxes on the business that employ people. Know why jobless rate is increasing, it is because business is being forced to pay minimum wages on people not worth hardly half what they are being paid. Increase taxes on business and guess what, they relocate overseas where taxes are lower and employment is lower. To advanced for the liberals to understand.

Chris in Nebraska   September 8th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

Mike   September 8th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

Biden should not talk about extreme views. He agrees with the Roman Catholic church's (he considers himself Catholic) stance that life begins at concecption but is pro choice because he doesn't feel that he has the right to impose his view on others. Why would you ever listen to someone who thinks that ending a life is not a worthy cause to stand up for? As for Obama...these controversies are above his pay grade. Lets just pray it stays that way and he loses his election.

Alison   September 8th, 2008 2:47 pm ET

That's right, most Americans are allowing themselves to be led around like fools by McCain & Palin. McCain has voted with President Bush 90% of the time, he has been in government 22 years, he has been an integral part of the last diastrous 8 years. Palin is attractive, articulate and a great eyewear model, but her views on global warming and energy policy are disturbing (No human element inviolved in climate change and her "drill baby drill" mantra). I don't care abouther lack of experience, it's what she thinks and her extremly narrow world view that frightens me. OPEN YOUR EYES AND START THINKING FOR YOURSELVES!

She's not extreme, she's driven by her career. Read this that is now posted on the msnbc blog:
"Most had learned that Ms. Palin was pregnant only a few weeks before. Struggling to accept that her child would be born with Down syndrome and fearful of public criticism of a governor’s pregnancy, Ms. Palin had concealed the news that she was expecting even from her parents and children until her third trimester. "
She was so scared of being criticized for being pregnant and being governor, she didn't even tell her own family she was pregnant. Just another example of hiding the truth! And going back to work 3 days after having him? So much for bonding with your new baby!

Gene DiGilio,

I know you aren't serious and you are just trolling around these message boards. You can't be serious. Because if you were serious, then you would be either naive, ignorant or both.

Sarah Palin's views on the issues (yes, the issues - not her family or anything like that) are extreme right - from Creationism in schools, to global warming not being man-made, to no abortion even if raped. That is very, very right.

So let's get real here please and be honest with yourself and the American people.

Nettie Richard   September 8th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

I am in agreement with you GET REAL. Get more ads out disputing these lies of the McCain/Palin ticket or telling the truth about their policies. Stop the ad with the music and get some drama going. I know you must have the funds available to go on the attack and not always defending. Palin is wearing the lipstick, but she has gotten into the ring throwing her blows, well, sometimes we must strike back and not see the lipstick.

Palin's views are just plain ludicrous. It is hard to relate to someone who denies the science of global warming, who believes creationism should be taught in schools. She has seen little of the world, has no concept of how other cultures live, has scant political experience. And this woman could be just a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
The country deserves better.

Obama/Biden 2008

Doug   September 8th, 2008 2:44 pm ET

To Gene DiGilio:

Are you freaking kidding me? Palin's views are mainstream to the average American?

Creationism?
Anti Pro-Choice, even when rape and incest involved?
Ties to Alaskan Independence party (read: secession)
Book banning?

Wow... what town do you live in?

DeeMaw   September 8th, 2008 2:44 pm ET

In my lengthy lifetime experience I have learned to distrust a person who's method of communication resorts to mockery, sarcasm or coy overtones. Sarah Palin embodies all of these. Sarah, you demean yourself by playing this game. I have supported Obama from day one, not because of your cutesie politics; you can only hope you'll someday attain Barack's knowledge and composure.

Pooh   September 8th, 2008 2:44 pm ET

why aren't Biden and Obama fighting back??

Chris   September 8th, 2008 2:43 pm ET

Palin supports having creationism taught in public schools. She is opposed to abortion even in the case of rape or incest. She makes fun of community organizers. What was the reverand Dr. Martin Luther King Jr? By the way, McCain originally opposed a holiday in Dr. King's honor. The Dems don't need to do anything but let her speak and people will see her for what she is:inexperienced to be even considered for VP or, heaven forbid, the President.

Gia   September 8th, 2008 2:43 pm ET

And I want to know why none of the networks have focused on her extreme views?? Sure, they were quick to pick on Obama's church, but the beauty queen continues to get away with her views and her star power given to her by the media. CNN you are a disappointment.

Mary   September 8th, 2008 2:43 pm ET

SHE (Palin) KEPT THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for the Bridge to Nowhere.
She is the worst kind of liar. The Republican Party has always been corrupt.
If the Dems win, their long term corruption will be exposed. They are very afraid.
So they will LIe, Cheat and Steal to get re-elected. Like they did in the last election and the one before that. The fix has been in for years and years.
Watch for more "lost" ballots, machine errors, lost registrations, hanging chads, etc..
If they do manage to steal another election, I hope there is a real uprising in this country to reveal their filthy backroom deals and treachery.
Impeachment will be too good for them.

Well they sound just like yours Joe, she is against abortion as are you, she is pro life as are you, so what is so extreme about her views?

I am a pro CHOICE woman, which means every woman has the right to make the choices that are right for HER. As long as Sarah Palin doens't start trying to force her choices on every woman, I honor and respect the choices she has made for herself and her family and so should every other woman in this country.

Marty Pacino Chicago Il   September 8th, 2008 2:42 pm ET

In the new poll conducted from Friday to Sunday, McCain also leads Obama 54-44 percent among likely voters. The survey of 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, has a margin of error of 3 points.

The numbers are drawing scorn in the Chicago headquarters of Obama for President.

“Up or down, we believe national polls are meaningless,” Obama spokesman Bill Burton said. ROFL

How extreme are her views when 55 percent of the poll is on her side?

Dr. Proctor   September 8th, 2008 2:42 pm ET

Her ideas are mainstream??? That's a scary thought! The woman doesn't believe in birth control, sex education, abortion under any circumstance, global warming, she likes the annililation of any animal that gets in her way (wipeout the wolves so they don't eat the caribou, cuz she wants to hunt the caribou), Iraq is God's work, pray for the Jews to "see the Light", teenage pregnancy is a blessing, and on and on. Let's not forget that Alaska is going to be a haven at world's end.... Never mind the politics...that's a whole other story.....

Obama had to do by walking through the fire for the past 19 months. That's how it is to run in this race. If it's too hot, then it's time to get out the kitchen.

She's only been on the job for what....1 week?

I'll give her two more weeks max and Obama/Biden will smoke her out as a phony with extreme positions.

Ken in Dallas   September 8th, 2008 2:40 pm ET

Well of course she thinks global warming is a good thing, she's from Alaska. Naturally she thinks the economy should run on oil, her state's getting rich off oil. Wildlife conservation gets in the way of her hunting and snowmobiling pastimes. Her positions aren't just extreme, they're extremely self-serving and self-indulgent.

If this is mainstream, the US is worse off than the Roman Republic.

If we're checking on Palin's 'extreme' views...wait I forgot, if libs say it then it has to be true, no matter how false it is, but I digress, let's see if Palin's personal minister and/or close personal friend ever said, "God D–n America!" Of course if he did then the libs and Dems would love her.

Patrick Henry, Fort Myers   September 8th, 2008 2:39 pm ET

Are her extreme comments any further out there than perhaps Joe and Barack suggesting that green jobs (that do not exist at present) will somehow miraculously appear and ease the burden on joblessness in an Obama administration?

I'd rather support a candidate with at least one foot in reality instead of the "Obama-zone".

Independents For McCain   September 8th, 2008 2:38 pm ET

This from a man(Biden) who pulled out of a Presidential race because he was caught plagerizing a speech....
The reason the Democrats are going to lose the election is because of Obama's choice for VP. If he would have been smart he would have picked Hillary and united the Democratic base. Instead he picks a plagerist and a man who has been in Washington longer then McCain.
Change we can believe in????? Yeah right.....

But she would not survive one day on the Southside of Chicago. We would turn this so-called pitbull into a hopeless poodle.
I don't think this rookie has the experience to govern my neighborhood watch; let alone be VP of the U.S.

With these polls being as close as they are.....Americans must be as dumb as the rest of the world thinks we are.

rodlang   September 8th, 2008 2:38 pm ET

Obama should have put Hillary on the ticket but he doesn't like strong women (Hillary and Sarah). They intimidate him.

Obama says the war is wrong and then picks a running mate that voted for the war. Obama says the surge failed....and then says it succedded past our wildest dreams. Biden wanted to partition Iraq into three different countries. Lots of confusing by the dems. Sarah has them baffled.

Matt   September 8th, 2008 2:37 pm ET

Making a vague statement like 'some of her views are extreme'??

Man, talk about a desperate hack.

I can't believe how so many Democrats buy the Obama/ Biden line without thinking for themselves.

McCain/ Palin are truly the change we need in this country. Obama/ Biden are professional politicians who will say and do anything to steal votes from the un-educated.

Thank God America is starting to wise up and support McCain/ Palin '08!!!!

Carolyn   September 8th, 2008 2:37 pm ET

Yes Palin is an extreme liar

Moon Maiden from Lake Michigan   September 8th, 2008 2:37 pm ET

lOOK, THE REPUKES ARE THE PROBLEM OF WHAT ARE COUNRTY IS GOING THROUGH.
PALIN IS A LIAR SO IS MCAIN.
WHAT THE BLEEP ARE THEY CHANGING>
OMG AMERICA WAKE UP
IF YOU BELIVE IN THESE LIES THEN YOU TOO CAN'T FACE REALITY

Bob Indianapolis, IN   September 8th, 2008 2:37 pm ET

Gosh Joe, Yuh Think? Wants to ban book from the local libraries, no abortion in cases of rape or incest, teaching creationism in public schools....

Not to mention all the earmarks this fake "maverick" took while mayor and governor and her annual trips to Washington DC to feed at the trough ...Only the sheeple will be fooled by this stuff...

Oleg   September 8th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

Now people say Palin = Bush + lipstick.
I'd say Palin = Bush + lipstick + even more extremism

Obama/Biden 2008

Jerry---Illinois   September 8th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

Sarah Palin is Dick Cheney without a pacemaker.

Mike - Texas   September 8th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

That is funny senator, I think that YOU have extreme views, considering that you are the 3rd most LIBERAL senator that we have.

But you are to the right of Obama, so I guess that counts for something.

McCain + Sarah = empty suits   September 8th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

Gene, really? You'll sure find refugee in Alaska!!!!!!!!

Maria   September 8th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

Seems to?! She DOES have extreme views! Wake up people!

Ron from Baltimore   September 8th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

Joe, it is time to unleash the dogs, to set a pack of them onto McCain's tail. Leashes off. You and Barack and Hillary and Bill need to keep your distance; that just leaves some 50 million or so others to feel free to bite back hard.

red, yellow, black and white   September 8th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

shes a nutcase. not even normal. can't even fit under a bell curve.
I question her intelligence and ability to work in a country of diversity.

COUNTRY FIRST McCAIN/PALIN   September 8th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

Poor Biden. You are such a loser the whole country knows bam-bam should not have picked you. But of course he is so weak and scared he had to. Anyway, you do know that people can see right through you.........don't you.

Sarah Palin will be President of the United States when John McCain leaves office in 8 years. Get used to it.

Jennie   September 8th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

"Extreme" is a kind descriptor. The question is, do you want those extreme rigid views forced on you and your family?

would you really want Palin as your president? Because at any moment, if McCain is sick or unable to serve, she WILL be in charge with her extremist zealot views and her profound dishonesty. She will have to listen to the extreme religious groups and follow their direction in order to keep them happy.

And poor McDrained ....lost in all of this hub-bub and kind of dazed at all of it, and letting his vicious staffers lie and attack and then hide behind a woman....what kind of maverick is that?

tanner, ca   September 8th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

What's extreme is the ground McCain is making in the polls. And more gains are to come!

Do you feel that Zerobama? That's your chances slipping away!!!

GetReady   September 8th, 2008 2:35 pm ET

Palin is an insult to women. McCain/Bush is Palin's PIPs.
Is she really believing that women cannot see through this. Get Real!!!!!

Obama 08

Just Extreme -or- REALLY Extreme?   September 8th, 2008 2:35 pm ET

Sarah Palin is so right wing, do as I say and not as I do, it's not even funny.

She is a composite of Bush and Cheney – the worst attributes of both.

Christy   September 8th, 2008 2:35 pm ET

I'm interested in hearing ANYTHING from her other than her children's sports resume and what her husband does in the snow. Interestingly enough, the Republicans love to criticize Obama for his "rhetoric" and supposed lack of substance in his speeches- all we've heard from Palin is rhetoric and nothing of substantive value. It seems to me that the media has taken a protective stance with her and she's getting a "rock star" persona (CBS News this morning).
ISSUES ANYONE????

PUMA PALIN   September 8th, 2008 2:35 pm ET

Hi Pot... this is Kettle

KiloWhiskey - Denver   September 8th, 2008 2:34 pm ET

Oh oh....somebody woke old Joe up! He wouldn't know what an extreme view was if someone hit him in the face with one....

Nick - Arlington, VA   September 8th, 2008 2:34 pm ET

She doesn't believe in Global Warming and wants to teach Creationism....this is extreme.

egel   September 8th, 2008 2:34 pm ET

Where is the word "attack" in tis story? Biden is ATTACKING Palin here. Obama ATTACKS McCain on his record.Either call it what it is BOTH WAYS or don't call it at all.

KG   September 8th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

Let's see.....Obama and Biden are basically, the two most liberal candidate we've ever seen. They are the farthest to the left of almost any other politician. Now, who has "extreme views?"

Sheila   September 8th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

I can't wait until Palin crosses McCain and he calls he a c- with lipstick. a word he already used to his lovely wife.check it out.

Marnie21   September 8th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

Finally Obama and Biden are bringing light to Gov. Palins extreme views. Let the american people know just how far right she really is.

A MAN AND HIS DOG   September 8th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

MCSAME AND HIS PITBULL W/LIPSTICK WILL DO AND SAY ANTHING, THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. CAN WE PLEASE CHECK HIM FOR DEMENTIA AND CAN HE KEEP HIS EYES OFF HER DERIERRE?

sensible Cape Coral FL   September 8th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Palin SEEMS to have extreme views. Gimme a break!

Rebecca   September 8th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

PALIN AND MCCAIN ARE FRAUDS

PLAIN AND SIMPLE

Neal   September 8th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Yes she does, given time she will scare away plenty more folks than she'll draw.
That is why people like her don't get elected to national office.

Republican 4 Life   September 8th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

No more family leave for women with babies. What a joke that is. If Palin can work with a new born so can you and if you can't maybe you should not have one. Palin is setting the pace for women that are strong all over the world. It is costing us money and leaving the other employees holding the bag until they get back. They don't need months off from work, maybe a week at the most. Palin will toss it out when she gets in I hope. What is good for the goose is good for the gander, so if palin can work with a baby so can YOU.
McCain-Palin for a working America not a lazy one. 08

Lissa in Montreal   September 8th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

He's right. Anyone who calls the war in Iraq "a task from God" and has a librarian fired for not banning books which don't mesh with her own religious views is a definite extremist, in every sense of the word.

This would be a dangerous person in line for the WH...

Rodham Democrat   September 8th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Joe Biden is right.

John McCain may be more moderate, but lately, he's been drifting to Gov. Sarah Palin's views on social issues, which are to the extreme right.

Shouldn't the VP candidate align him/herself with the Presidential candidate instead of the other way around?

Gene DiGilio   September 8th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

They may seem extremist to the far left, but to everyday average Americans they are mainstream.

Get Real   September 8th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Look I am for Obama/Biden –

Palin's views aren't extreme they are lies and fabrications.

Get out their and attack her and don't be scared of this Sexism argument.

McCain's campaign is being ran by Bush's boys and you and Barack are sitting there tap dancing aroudn mcCain/palin.

WIN THIS ELECTION AND GET SOME ADS IN THE MEDIA
PEOPLE ARE NOT READING BLOGS< THE ARE WATCHING THE REPUBLICAN SCARED MEDIA1

COME ON OBAMA/BIDEN.

McCain + Sarah = empty suits   September 8th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Of course she does.
Alaska a refugee for people in earth when she and McCain start the third World war.
People reason, think for yourselves and stop being led like fools.

Ric, England   September 8th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

America doesn't deserve to have a president like Obama! A candidate with such humbleness, honesty and good judgement only appears once in a lifetime. Well, let's get ready for the anger, rage and hate of the "catholic" candidates.

Mccain=Bush=the draft   September 8th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Yes, she is very extreme, and she wants to impose her views on all of us. Last time I checked this is still a society where people can chose what is best for them. We are not under a dictatorship.

"Palins first major Gaffe"

Gov. Sarah Palin made her first potentially major gaffe during her time on the national scene while discussing the developments of the perilous housing market this past weekend.
Speaking before voters in Colorado Springs, the Republican vice presidential nominee claimed that lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." The companies, as McClatchy reported, "aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies. The takeover may result in a taxpayer bailout during reorganization."
Economists and analysts pounced on the misstatement, saying it demonstrated a lack of understanding about one of the key economic issues likely to face the next administration.
"You would like to think that someone who is going to be vice president and conceivable president would know what Fannie and Freddie do," said Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research. "These are huge institutions and they are absolutely central to our country's mortgage debt. To not have a clue what they do doesn't speak well for her, I'd say."
