Bill Clinton to join McCain, Obama at Ground Zero on 9/11

Bill Clinton will attend the September 11 memorial ceremony at Ground Zero, Thursday.
Bill Clinton will attend the September 11 memorial ceremony at Ground Zero, Thursday.

(CNN) – Bill Clinton will join Barack Obama and John McCain in visiting Ground Zero this Thursday in memory of the victims of September 11, and deliver a speech focused on national security threats.

“But just as we reflect on the past, we must look ahead to ensure we are doing all we can to support families, unite our communities, and protect our country from future acts of terrorism," said the former president in a statement released by his office.

The McCain and Obama campaigns released a joint statement over the weekend announcing that both men will appear together in New York to mark the seventh anniversary of the attacks. The campaigns have also pledged to abstain from all negative campaign ads on that day.

Also Thursday, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama will meet at the former president's Harlem offices - their first extended in-person encounter since the tense primary season.

(UPDATED to clarify McCain and Obama are visiting Ground Zero Thursday, but will not be at the memorial ceremony.)

I am glad Bill will be in NYC on 9/11. He can greet Obama the runner up and McCain our new president at the same time.

Today is the first time in the CNN poll of polls that McCain has an advantage over Obama. A USA poll suggest McCain at 51 % and that is the first time either candidate has crossed the 50% line.

this new poll is terrible news for Obama and I suggest that he withdraw from the race immediately. He is risky, has a funny name and who knows what he would do with our country and our values.

McCain will protect our country and our values.

If Bill does to the Obama campaign what he did to Hillary's campaign, McCain is a sure winner.

Obama's campaign will need all the help it can get. This election
can come back to haunt us!!!!

The Republicans "plan" on winning. No matter what, they intend to
win. Hannity, Rove, Ann Coulter, Limbaugh on their side, THEY
don't say, "YES WE CAN", they say YES WE WILL.

They are "schooling" Padin every minute of every day. And she will
be sensational during "the debate" with Biden. She will win your
hearts and she can move along and be our next PRESIDENT!
And then, we can all cry for our country's SOLDIERS, Finanancial
Bankruptcy. and our LOST COUNTRY. THIS IS THE MOST SERIOUS
VOTE American will ever have. It can make or break our Country.
And, right now, it is in "dire straights."

People, get to know the truth about the Republican regime. THEY
DO NOT INTEND TO LOSE THIS RACE. Just like Bush-Kerry!
Rove, with dirty rotten lies and deceit, won over the Catholics
Evangelicals, and the people that listened to "soundbytes of how
Bad Kerry was and How Great Bush was.
REMEMBER, REPUBLICANS INTEND TO WIN AT ANY COST!

PADIN IS A TRICKY PLOY. MCCAIN IS LOVING EVERY MINUTE
    OF "EDUCATING SARAH".

Okay, we have chilled for a while – now it is time for us Dem/Indp to put this movement in gear – We cannot allow McCain/Palin to win this upcoming election- We Americans cannot allow to sit back and watch this country to deeper in the hole.

  9. MOST IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ARE AGENTS FROM HELL

This is good, very good, they need to bury the hatchet and get down to what is most important. Also Hillary did a good job of reminding voters that Palin is not the person we need in office, she no matter how sweetly she present herself is simply more of the same, the same that we are suffering with now. Dispite McSame and Palin's sudden acclamation of change they are most dangerous to the welfare of our great nation and it is only through deception they can prevail,we should not allow ourselves to be distracted by their ploy. Mr. McSame has been in Washington all of these years with nothing but his own promotion in mind, he is an opportunist that sways with the wind and with more study of Palin she is the same. Both being liars who exaggerate everything that comes out of their mouths, just playing the game!

PLEASE DO NOT BE TAKEN IN BY MCSAME OR PALIN, DO YOU HOMEWORK ON BOTH! THIS WOMAN PALIN HAS HIT THE STAGE WITH A MOUTH FULL OF LIES. WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT HER CHARACTER?

They should all go dinner: The waiter would say, can I take you order:
Bill Clinton: Fried chicken, mash potatoes with gravy and a coke
Barrack Obama: Chicken cordone blue, toss salad and french string beans
McCain: One Mooseburger with fries and a coke.

Obama knows full well, that when it comes to security, he is no match for McCain. That's a given...we know it , we see it.

So.....Obama is doing what he has always done. Get himself a prop. Usually in his speeches, it's name dropping. This time, in this appearance in NY, it will be the presence of Bill Clinton.
He will be patting Bill Clinton's back as if they are comrades in arms, old buddies. I hope Bill doesn't forget that this man dissed his wife bigtime and played the race card on him. The things one has to do for party and country. Which brings up another point..........Hillary, DON'T ATTACK PALIN ON PERSONAL ISSUES LIKE THE MEDIA. REMEMBER......18MIL CRACKS AND 2012. JUST SAY NO.

I am a Canadian and have been looking for posts to see if there were any comments about McCain's camp showing images of 9/11 at their convention....images of the twin towers burning.....

I, as a Canadian, was heartbroken for the families who lost loved ones that terrible day and had to see these images at a "party"...as an American, I would think you would be outraged! The crowd even applauded at the end of it....unbelievable! I would have been stunned into silence and shame.

If Americans vote this president in.....you are complete IDIOTS!!

Not long ago, the Clinton's were the most hated couple, now they are the most needed couple. Seems like the dems just can't seem to get it together. Then inner bickering has cost them this election. If Obama had selected Hillary, he wouldn't be behind in the polls. What an arrogant move! The Clinton's are a political dynamic machine and Obama was too blind to see that. How many other mishaps will he miss?

I am perfectly fine with this, as long as it isn't used as a campaigning event for either party.

Shame on either candidate if they use one of the most horrific events in American history to their advantage.

Another anniversary and a reminder of the familys and victims.God bless them all.Another sad reminder that all that happened and how the world and commiunity organizers helped and showed unity.Another reminder that Bush and McCain went to Iraq instead of going after the people that did this disater to the free world and every American.Another reminder that it will take big change to actually go after the ones that did this to all the victims.A huge reminder that McCain is the last person that should be President.

McCain has taken over in the polls...Bill is going to Lunch with BO to once again let him know what most DEMs already knew...Hillary wouldn't let this happen...You would be ahead in the polls if you had made the obvious choice and picked Hillary as the VP candidate. One more loss coming for the DEMS in November...this one because of BO's lack of judgement...just what the Republicans have been telling the country about him all along.
