President Bush is praising Palin as the VP Pick.

(CNN) – President Bush is praising John McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin as an “inspired pick.”

"I find her to be a very dynamic, capable, smart women who, you know, it really says that John McCain made an inspired pick, to me," Bush said of the Alaska governor in an interview set to air Tuesday on Fox, according to excerpts released by the network.

Watch: Will Palin help the GOP?

"She's had executive experience, and that's what it takes to be a capable person here in Washington, D.C. in the executive branch," he said.

Bush served as Texas governor before his first presidential run.

Republicans Hate America   September 8th, 2008 3:41 pm ET

Just confirms how the GOP hate America by willing to vote for a VP candidate that wants to separate Alaska from the U.S. and then have the nerve to say Obama doesn't wear a flag pin. I dont care if I end up being the only one to vote for Obama but I refuse to accept you rednecks as Americans

This is so amazing, how McCain wants to separte himself from Bush but yet Bush wants you to know he approve of Sarah Palin. They are closer than a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. McCain is lying about putting Democrats in his cabinet, don't fall for that trick. Bush said the same thing when he ran in 2000. You see where we are now. McCain /Palin is Bush/Cheney. Wake up America we are truly heading down the same road with the same agendas. THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You Obamabot are running scared. I was a Hillary girl from the get go and your poison tongues got the best of you all then. Now you all NEED Hillary's help to save your precious OBAMA! So sad that what you reap is what you sow.

Obama's ego didn't know how to handle Hillary as VP so he didn't choose her. Surprise, surprise who would ever have guessed that John McCain (better known to Obamabot's as McLame, McSame, etc) would up the stakes. Now your hate is coming out against somebody you don't even know.

Remember what happened before…..!

Personally, I'd rather see some one with 0 political experience in every political office. The longer you have been a politician the more corrupt and cynical you become.

As for the name calling on both sides of the aisle? I think it show a distinct lack of maturity.

Anyone who thinks that the USA should be following international examples should read some history and see what following gets you. The USA is still the greatest power on earth. That means we lead. If we do it well the world will follow and evil people will attempt to tear us down.

My greatest fear is that we will end up with a government the rest of the world approves of. This can only meant that they see that government as weak and vulnerable.

Teri   September 8th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

Inspired trickery is more like it. When will CNN start reporting on her crazy Pastor, on the truth about her earmarks, or her leaving her little town in debt and all of the bad judgments she made? Granted, the GOP manufactured their own celebrity – but when will the main stream press start questioning her ethics, her record, her 'lack' of vetting and knowledge, her AIP backing? Step up CNN! You certainly didn't mind running with Rev. Wright 24/7…you are running out of time to inform America what this candidate really has done.

Squeezer   September 8th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

Poor George. What he really meant to say was Palin is an "insipid" pick.

Mark Goins   September 8th, 2008 3:34 pm ET

Sarah Palin, governor of a state with a population the size of a medium sized american city, crime rates far belaow the average small city, and minority population far below the national average, is by no means ready to be vice president of the United States. She has experienced the kind of problem that any big city mayor has. By know means can she understand what the remainder of the country outside Alaska encounters on a daily basis, because Alaska does not have the poverty, housing issues, poor public education, homelessness, violent crime, lack of healthcare, and unemployment.

Ted   September 8th, 2008 3:34 pm ET

You all have to look at the records of the candidates and decide who would make the best president rather than bashing Bush. It will NOT be his 3rd term, and anyone who thinks it is doesn't know John McCain. Also, if Obama is president who do you think will make HIS decisions? The DO NOTHING Democtratic Senate and Congress, both have LOWER ratings that GW Bush. Them are the FACTs nobody is talking about. Go figure! So, in whom do you put your Trust! Someone who doesn't have any original ideas (e.g. no bills with his name on them) or one that constantly reaches to others and authors tough bills, with Democrates too.

Some Things Never Change   September 8th, 2008 3:33 pm ET

Bush is endorsing her now, yet McCain is still rising in the polls, it just goes to show everyone that they like Bush more than they let on. I guess the people voting for McCain have been happy the last eight years. The more things change the more they stay the same.

No wonder Bush thinks she's an inspired pick. She knows as little about how the world works as he does. Today she said that the problem with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was that they used too many taxpayer dollars. Um, no Sarah, the problem with Fannie and Freddie is that they were unregulated PRIVATELY run institutions that bought and made stupid loans and the taxpayer money is going to be spent bailing them out, just like it was spent to bail out Bear-Stearns, another PRIVATE institution.

As a Texan and a community organizer for 30 years, I was glad to rid our state of George Bush. He left big deficits for Texas as he has done for The United States. Please give me one activity in his life that shows he is a success? His family protected him from bankruptcy, his father protected him from losing his baseball team (which Arlington, Texas is still paying for to make him a millionaire), and the Republicans will not protect him now. So, Palin wants his recommendation? I think not. She very seldom mentions his name. They are lying now and will continue to lie for their "big business" partners who have put this country and the world in harms way. Forget the foreign terrorists. We have an "economic terrorist" running our government. He’s an American. What could the terrorists have done worse than George Bush to destroy this country? 9-11 was surely a tragedy which we are surviving……how are we going to survive the Bush administration and what they have done to the world by pushing us toward another cold war? Give someone else a chance to clean this up. Vote for someone who cares about equal opportunity for all and did not vote for Bush programs 90 percent of the time.

al in memphis   September 8th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

If McCain wins, he can thank Fox — not the news network, but the creators of American Idol. This election is shaping up to be more about preceived popularity than about the issues.

I forgot — that's what McCain campaign manager this election would be about personality and not the issues. The go olde USA may have the best election process in the world, but what we value in our canidates is starting to make us a laughting stock to the rest of the world.

Ron Bennett   September 8th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Yea Sarah Palin is a governor of a small state with less population then 16 US cities and Obama’s State Senate district of the south side of Chicago look what Bush did with our economy she will do the same.

Look at her promotion of a 40 billion dollar Alaska Pipeline to the lower 48 states. That is a big oil Bush giveaway all over again. It comes from the oil fields of Alaska alone where in the lower 48 States natural gas is from several different sources; oil, shale, coal mines etc. There is 16 time more proven Natural gas reserves in the lower 48 states than there is in Alaska, why build a 4,000 mile pipeline from no-where when you could do it all with a lot less cost in the lower 48 states.

The proposed Alaska Pipelines is the mother of all "Pork Barrel Spending Projects" which MacCain and Palin don't mind giving to big oil. This will give the residence of Alaska a huge windfall tax return. No wonder she is so popular in her home state…….

milo   September 8th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Why run stories that aren't really news like this one? The prez parroting the party line, "executive experience" and all – no wonder he supports her, he had zero foreign policy experience when he ran…and gee, didn't that turn out swell for the country?

How about less stating the obvious and more actual content, like pointing out when the candidates are lying, happening more and more lately? The press is supposed to have a responsibility to the public, not just be a delivery device for lies and hype.

Oh boy....   September 8th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Soldier 4 OBAMA   September 8th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Yeah, the same experience Bush had as Governor in a state Texas where the legislature like Alaska does most of the work. McCain has no legislative experience, Palin does not have any. It is ironic and misleading, because Romney, Huckabe, Pawlenty and Jindal all have executive experience and also the current Governor of Hawaii who is also a female. McCain and Rove choose Palin because of the "family image" which got butchered because they forgot her daughter was pregnant. Then they use the "bikini photo with a weapon", the issue here is that Palin is not ready, but if the MSM question her stance on the issues they get attacked as sexist. The GOP is at it again, the question is will America awake or will they doom themselves to another 4 years of a Palin Presidency, let's face it McCain is sick and most likely have terminal cancer. The MSM need to do their job!

This coming from a mentally ill idiot.

Note to all redneck, right wingers. Unless poll respondents number in the millions, don't think that you've got this thing tied up with a ribbon.

There are also people who would love to do nothing more than to lie in a poll to give the McCain camp a false set of security. The people who count most in this election will vote with their hearts and an informed mind. Sarah Palin's skeletons continue to march out of the closet, and since McCain resembles a corpse himself, handing over the reigns to her is enough for them to either think Obama/Biden or independent. Perhaps McCain has forgotten that more independent votes cast will take votes away from him. I don't think they'll let McCain sell them a gimmick, and if they do vote independent, there still would be Obama's army of newly minted democratic voters. Enjoy the ride on the straight talk express while it lasts, the Obama/Biden bullet train will run it right off the track.

Stay with me for a second, there's a point to this post. Less than 30% of America approves of Bush. Bush approves of McCain and Palin 100%. According to the latest polls, 48% approve of McCain/Palin. So, in mathematices 30% = Bush, Bush = McCain/Palin, McCain Palin = 48%.

At least, evangelical Palin should recognize that Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor. I am not equating Obama to Jesus nor saying Palin is Pontius Pilate but I need to point out the irony. It’s just sad that RNC demonized the whole thing trying to tare down Obama. It’s beyond me how Bush can put $10 billion a month on a Chinese credit card no questions asked and yet people are busy spreading lies about tax hikes. To top it off its sad that not a lot of people realize that the so called surge was a fix for a screw-up that happened from day one of a war that shouldn’t have been started. Its sad people so quickly forget why their money is being used to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac based on Bush’s bad policy to de-regulate mortgage lending with a rubber stamp by the GOP 12 year do-nothing Congress. If this election ends up being about a list of good ideas versus emotional grab, we’ll ALL lose. How can Romney argue that it's the liberals who have screwed everything up last week? Bush 8yrs and 12 of last 14 years of rubber stamp do-nothing GOP Congress.

Palin should not be allowed anywhere near the White House!
She is an extreme religious fundalmentalist.
She lied about a major corruption foe (she accepted campaign contributions in the same fundraising scheme at the center of a public corruption scandal that led to the indictment of Sen. Ted Stevens). She lied about being against earmarking (she requested $27 Million for tiny Wasilla – even McCain criticized her). She lied about her initial support for the Bridge to Nowhere (only reversing her opinion when it became politicially beneficial to do so). She does not support alternate energy sources. She is anti-environmental. She even lied about winning Miss Congeniality!

Extreme is an understatement.

So you really want a "Warrior For God" one heartbeat away from our nuclear arsenal? I thought unstable, belligerent religious extremists were our enemies…not our representatives.

When American's voted in Bush for his first term, it was an honest mistake. No one could have known the level of incompetence of his administration. When American's voted in Bush for a second term, it was like the lever pull heard round the world. The rest of the civilized world was stunned that we would elect such a leader twice. As much damage that Bush managed was still our fault and we got everything we deserved.

Real Eyes   September 8th, 2008 3:22 pm ET

We live in very strange times when things like this are happening:

When Sarah Palin gave her speech of (sound bites & non specifics & LIES), she put down about 50+ million American Community Organizers around this country, who are your everyday people who don't get PAID to work to better the lives of those around them. Community Organizers are on the streets, day to day helping out with programs like, Neighborhood Watch, MADD, Boys & Girls Clubs, After School Programs, Special Needs Programs for the Deaf, Blind, Handicapped, Veterans Rights Organizers, Women & Children Victims Of Domestic Violence, D. A. R. E. to keep kids off of drugs, Senior Centers, Workers Rights Organizers, Animal Rights Organizers, Religious Rights Organizations, basically the very systems and Organizations that makes America What it is.. While Palin sits at a desk in an air conditioned office and signs papers as shes told by the special interest who control her. Then she goes hunting endangered wolves & wildlife with a chopper until they cant run anymore, then opens fire!!!! She even wants to take the Polar Bear off of the Endangered Species List… give me a break…
enough already…
Remember, Jesus is the most famous Community Organizer, and Pontius Pilate was the Governor who ordered his Execution…
Peace….

There you have it, the George W. Bush seal of approval.

George W. Bush, the man who gave us Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Alberto Gonzales, and Karl Rove. George W. Bush, the man who got us into war with Iraq through false pretenses.

George W. Bush, the man who hugged John McCain.

Dems like to hate but when they do they don't think. I don't care what President Bush thinks. I still will not vote for Obama.

I don't understand why Obama supporters/Bush haters think their comments against Bush,GOP,McCain,Palin etc……. help them.

I have a secret for you (all the hate and anger is NOT helping Obamas win the white house and is only turning people off of the Obama cause)

Another thing … Gallup polls and others DO use cell phone owners in their polls (look it up yourselves THINK don't let your hate cloud your thinking)

Lisa from VA   September 8th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

texas democrat   September 8th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

Take it from me Bush was not a good governor. The only thing he did was keep the death penalty alive and well in the state of Texas because that's what we are known for. He cut a lot of social programs to help families and I personally was glad to give him to the USA as president. Now i hope he can do no harm and just retire.

John in Ohio   September 8th, 2008 3:16 pm ET

Thanks Bush and Cheney, keep it up.

The truth about Sarah Palin:
Antiabortion, even in cases of rape and incest, which a lot of people find to be a morally reprehensible position.

Creationist. Wants Creationism taught in schools, and while it's against the law now, just wait until she stacks the Supreme Court with the nuttiest nuts she can find.

Actively anti-environment, to the extent that she hunts wolves from a helicopter and doesn't think polar bears should be endangered.

Believes that the Iraq War was a mission from God, and that a natural gas pipeline from Alaska to the lower 48 is ordained by God.

Doesn't know what a vice president does.

Doesn't know how Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are funded (or were funded), even as she attacked what she didn't know anything about.

Basically if America votes Palin and McCain into office, we deserve what we get. Namely, more war, more death, more bankruptcy, no health care, ruined environment, more in debt to the Chinese, and a lot less importance on the global stage, except as ineffective foil to an increasingly powerful Russia.

Do Obama and Biden have left-wing voting records? Yeah. But the last 8 years in the US has pretty clearly shown that, nine times out of ten, THE LEFT IS CORRECT. A liberal voting records *should* be a badge of pride and a symbol of good judgment after the abject and total failure of American conservatism over the last few decades. Additionally, a "liberal" in America, in America's Democratic Party, is barely a centrist in most other developed nations, like England, Canada, Germany, Japan, etc.

I say McCain had a minute of inspiration during an hour of deperation!
Here's my ode to Common Sense:
Barack Obama will rekindle the alliances that were broken during the Bush/Cheney administration. That would mean that other countries would pitch in on this global war on terror instead of it just being our troops only that are put in the lines of fire.
McCain and Bush only know how to start wars without anyone backing us up and they do it under false pretenses. They do not understand that Diplomacy is the first and most powerful weapon ever created. And global respect equals global support which equals shorter wars.

Barack Obama/Joe Biden: two proven leaders known and repected around the world for Prez and Vice Prez in 08!

I'm getting kinda tired of hearing about Palin's executive experience as a governor for less than 2 years. If she's so qualified because she is the governor of Alaska, why is she on the bottom of the ticket? Doesn't that prove that McCain is highly unqualified? Also, I think our current president was governor of a very highly populated state, yet he doesn't seem to have done too well. We need real change, not just a change of rhetoric to try to win an election.

We don't support Jews For Jesus;
We don't support states seceding from the country;
We don't support eminent domain;
We don't support banning books;
We don't support using political power for personal gain (Troopergate);
We do support abortion in the case of rape or incest;
We do support sexual education that deals with pre-marital sex, STDs and contraceptives

I don't think she has much for executive experience. She definitely doesn't have any common sence. She had her 1st child 8 month after she got married. I guess sex before marriage just isn't a priority to her as she is quoted as saying she is excited and happy about her 17 year old daughter being pregnant. In her mind that's what she did so why wouldn't it be okay for her daughter to do the same thing. A person with no morals should not be the VP of the United States.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Chi4Obama   September 8th, 2008 3:07 pm ET

Sarah Palin may be a "pitbull" to her fellow Alaskan's.

But she would not survive one day on the Southside of Chicago. This so-called pitbull would be be eaten alive, like a a hopeless poodle.
I wouldn't trust this rookie to govern my neighborhood watch; let alone be VP of the U.S.

With these polls being as close as they are…..Americans must be as dumb as the rest of the world thinks we are. If we elect Mc-Palin to office, then our country deserves everything that it gets.

Ann, California   September 8th, 2008 3:06 pm ET

So tell me with this executive experience, why the hell is this country in the toilet bowl we're in with Bush at the helm?

The million dollar question!!!!!

Elizabeth, Danbury   September 8th, 2008 3:06 pm ET

I will boycott CNN and other news stations, if they don't start vetting
Sarah Palin. I call on other Democrats to do so also. We don't need to
listen to Sarah Palin and the republicans' lies anymore, with the help of the media. Just go to the polls and vote for the Democratic ticket.

Print this CNN!

Nelson Colorado Springs Co   September 8th, 2008 3:06 pm ET
