The military needs to be strong to defend this county and its allies (NATO)

Thank God the only use of nuclear weapons have been in WWII but we DO need them and need to know they would work if counted on.

Those that say we don't need or never needed nuclear weapons have a narrow view of history esp the cold war and what they truly were used for during the USSR vs USA years.

We may never need to use them but we DO NEED TO HAVE THEM for reasons that do not involve detonating them.

Slowing down development of these systems will, in the not to distant future, put our military at a distinct disadvantage.

Has everyone noticed how Cheney is ratcheting things up over in Georgia with Russia? Trying to get our nation primed with FEAR over another war, even though Georgia was CLEARLY the aggressor and wasn't expecting Russia to deliver the smack down they did!!

Now I'm not saying the Russian smack down was a proportional response, but they clearly sent a message... if the Bush Administration is going to incite "Freedom Cleansing" of those who don't agree with their policies in Georgia, there will be repercussions. The Bush Administration convinced Georgia to go after the rebels, and Georgia suffered because they listened.

"I will slow our development of future combat systems"

The #1 reason the US military is so powerful is our tech. We have the best there is to have, however our edge isn't that great and we need to continue to develop this edge. Slowing down our development will just ensure our foes catch up to us and once that happens we are dead.

I hope Obama understands that it's not a numbers game. We will NEVER have the largest military, but we've always had the best trained and armed....not he wants to remove the best armed part....Lets see how that works out!!

OBAMA is going to have to call him out in a big way. Time is the election.
