New ad declares McCain-Palin 'original mavericks'

The McCain campaign is out with a new ad Monday.

(CNN) - Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin are out with a new television ad Monday, declaring themselves the "original mavericks."

The 30-second spot, set to air in key states, says McCain and Palin will "make history" and "change Washington."

"He fights pork barrel spending," the ad's narrator states. "She stopped the Bridge to Nowhere. He took on the drug industry. She took on big oil."

Palin's statement claiming to have opposed the now-infamous "Bridge to Nowhere" has been disputed by opponents who note she supported the major earmark when she campaigned for governor of Alaska in 2006. According to the non-partisan factcheck.org, Palin didn't oppose the project until Congress had already nixed it.

what is amazing to me is how many people belive these lies, mccain said palin sold the plan on ebay and made a profit . when the reverse is the case ,it is scary that people at the top of the ticket can lie before the nation and get away with it.As parents kids see this and wonder what will happen to america! ITS SAD!

OOPS.. When you ignore half your base what can do expect. A sleeping giant has been awakened..Obama has no, zero, nada to show for his time in office. He had the competition eliminated in his run for State Senator. Chicago politics at it's best. He then spent most of his time writing two memoirs. Does anyone believe he wrote those on his own time? I don't know if he did or not, but he spent his time doing something besides his job, much like now. How many of you can show up for work a mere 145 days in almost three years? I am a Hillary supporter and a life long democrat. I also cross party lines and vote for who I feel is the better candidate. For those Obama-bots who like to mention the Keating Five, do you even know, 4 of the 5 Senators were Democrats? Of the five Senators, McCain was the least involved.. I remember it as a time I was ashamed to admit I was a Democrat, sort of like now. I will say, I am impressed with Gov. Palin at this point in time. I do not agree with all the positions of either party. When the experience of a Presidential candidate is compared to the VP candidate, it is a sad day for the Democrats. No one seems to be questioning Biden or McCains' ability to be President. Is Obama, a heart beat away?

    Here are some facts:

70% of Americans don't think George Bush is doing a good job
90% of the time John McCain has voted with George Bush
75% of Americans don't think the country is going in the right direction

The sensible conclusion – don't vote for McCain, unless Obama is an idiot, which he clearly is not. If Obama were Bill Clinton, this would be one of the biggest blowouts in history. You connect the dots.

Seems to me that people of this country are suicidal like they have been in 2004. They have not learned from their mistake then and are just about to commit another. How can one possibly fall into the traps of this mediocre and incompetent team of republicans? Their lack of knowledge is so obvious ( a pageant contest runner up comes out swinging at things she clearly does not have a clue about: you may not need a community service in Alaska but you clearly do in Chicago and a law degree helps you to address issues with some competence whereas no education is a handicap even in politics but perhaps not in Alaska) that you need to be intoxicated by religion to not see the disaster of another incompetent government coming. Good night America on its way to insignificance.

I am so tired of the Maverick line. We don't know Sarah, so how can she be defined as a maverick, except for those few distorted facts that she gave. McCain may have been a maverick, somewhere in his political career but he is certainly courting the conservative way of thinking. America don't get caught up in the hype. Open your eyes and see that they are both, worst than much of the same.

Dear Timber...I don't know what poll you are looking at, but nowhere is Mccain ahead by 10 points. This was a convention bounce...nothing more.
John Mccain an dthe Republican Party are doing what they always do...no new ideas, they tell us what we need and say "trust us". Well we've trusted them for the past 8 years, and look what that got us.
    Wake up America!!!!!!

I want to know what polls is the media using that suggest the gap is decreasing between McCain and Obama. Seriously, I haven't received a call nor inquiry about who I am voting on. Why, because majority of society today do not have land lines. We use cell phones! No one is calling cell phones to for a survey. The polls are not factual. Look at the response Obama receives. Look at the comments on these blogs. There is a clear distinction between what the people are saying they want and its not McCain. The republicans said that the VA Gov didnt have enough experience when he was being viewed for the VP spot with Obama, but they select Palin! What a joke.....all I want to say is that all those folks saying they support Obama/Biden, please show up on Tues, Nov 4th and actual excercise that vote. Please....if you don't then we will end up in more of the same, which is nothing.

If Paline and John McSain are telling lies to the American people now, can you imagine what it will be like if they win the white house. I cannot see this unknown being the vice-president and possibly the president of these united states. I heard that she was going to be expose. Well, does that mean she has skeltons in her closet. Come on with it.

Yes, the GOP base has been "energized" by this phoney distraction of a candidate meant to pander.

The eBay story alone shows what a liar she is (the jet was NOT sold on ebay for a profit, it was sold for a loss privately after she took it off ebay.)

Not to mention all the other VAST examples of what this typical right-wing politician does in office.

    CNN,

try and put pink lipstick on the neo-con backed plan

to keep the fraud going on wall street,

by paying hundreds of billions minimum with public money (tax dollars)

    for freddie and fannie

but never holding accountable the loan-sharks who made bazillions through freddie and fannie.

i know the suckers will lap it up.

Is there anyone else out there who has noticed she is reading, quote...reading her speeches at these stops? Hmm..doesn't she have her own ideas to talk about, oh right..Mr. Rove is again puppetmaster. McCain camp is crying "stop investigating Sarah Palin" I say..keep on investigating, isn't the whole idea to get to know the candidates? The GOP has yet to spell out any specifics on their plan except more drilling, and keeping our troops in Iraq for the next generation. Good plan!,...Didn't Ms. Palin as governor of Alaska hear about something called Exxon Valdez?, I am sure the swimmers in Miami and Myrtle Beach will love looking over those potential oil slicks. So here is the GOP plan so far..spend more of our money in a place we should never have gone, and potentially wrecking our ecosystem. Oh yes..keep taxing us blue collar workers. Hmm..sounds like a winner al right...Thank god it means winning for OBAMA/Biden 08!

    From a european friend:

I can't believe my eyes. After eight years of getting hit after hit in the face from your own governement. After eight years of economic disaster, after 5 years of war for false reasons. After being lied to again 4 years ago. Some of you Americans actually consider voting for the same old party again. :D It makes me so sad. Remember the clinton years? And how everything was better back then? Wasn't it nice to have a president who talked to other world leaders as a grownup?

Be smart and vote democrat. The world is waiting to embrace you again. We don't want a second gun wielding, fundamentalistic christian with his finger on the red button.

The QUAD CITY LEADERSHIP GROUP OF BUSH – MCCAIN – CHENEY AND PALIN.

One change I would really love to see is the Republicans and all your support staff deciding to campaign honorably and honestly.

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO MY NEIGHBORS IN ALASKA, I HAVE BEEN THERE AND IT'S A BACKWARDS STATE THAT DOESN'T FIT IN WITH THE OTHER 49 STATES IN ANYWAY. THE TOWN OF WASILLA IS RUN LIKE A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNSEL AND THE STATE IS RUN TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER STATE IN THE UNION.

NO WONDER JOHN MCCAIN AND HIS ADVISORS DO NOT TRUST SARAH PALIN TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ON HER OWN YET. SHE'S A WELL KNOWN EXTREMIST AND WHEN SHE DOES GO PUBLIC AND NOT HAVE TO RESORT TO READING A SCRIPT WRITTEN FOR HER BY THE MCCAIN CAMPAIGN THE BUMP IN THE POLLS WILL EVAPORATE.

  23. Go Sarah

Obama supporters feel that only stupid people can believe or support Sarah. They ask, what has she done to deserve all this praise?

Well, McCain and (some Hillary) supporters feel that the same way about supporting Obama.

Hopefully now you understand why half of Americans cant stand Obama.
