New ad declares McCain-Palin 'original mavericks'

The McCain campaign is out with a new ad Monday.
The McCain campaign is out with a new ad Monday.

(CNN) - Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin are out with a new television ad Monday, declaring themselves the "original mavericks."

The 30-second spot, set to air in key states, says McCain and Palin will "make history" and "change Washington."

"He fights pork barrel spending," the ad's narrator states. "She stopped the Bridge to Nowhere. He took on the drug industry. She took on big oil."

Palin's statement claiming to have opposed the now-infamous "Bridge to Nowhere" has been disputed by opponents who note she supported the major earmark when she campaigned for governor of Alaska in 2006. According to the non-partisan factcheck.org, Palin didn't oppose the project until Congress had already nixed it.

Wake up folks – all politicians stretch the truth, including Mr Barry Obama. To scream lies, lies, lies does nothing but make yourself look like an idiot. If you can't supply fact and present decently without screaming and name calling, then don't bother with joining the conversation.

That's the problem Ian. You take their word for it without doing your own independent research. If what he says is what you want to believe then enough said. ive read other posts by you and to me you come off as much more intelligent than that. Its like they are getting more and more bold by the minute. They are going to throw out bigger and bigger lies to see just how much they can get away with.

Wake up Obamatrons, your candidate has ties to Islam, ties to terrorists, has no experience with military matters, is indecisive, wants the presidency for his own personal sense of achievement and God knows what else.

If anyone looks at the issues, they will see these two are MORE OF THE SAME!

She is being sheltered from interviews so the novelty lasts longer. Why are McCain's military records sealed??

I may vomit! I can't believe that anyone would vote for either or them.

America is lost if he wins this election.

    God help us.

Oh brother, now I've heard everything.
They are the "New Mavericks" and all of Obama's fairy tales will come true...
When will we have a presidential candidate who is able to put on his or her big-boy pants and tell it like it is? I will be sitting out this election as I have never and most likely will never vote for a hate filled Bible-banging Republican ya-hoo and I sure as heck can't support Mr. Ego is a Suit (Obama.)
Buckle your seatbelts, I think we are going to have a mighty bumpy ride for the next few years!!

Obama is a media creation. The american people are smarter than the media gives them credit for. Obama is all talk and no substance.

  14. Palin has more experience than Obama

This is so funny to see the O backers flipping out!!!

    Keep it up please!!!!

    ROTFLMAO at the Obama backers!!

Obama has not run anything. He has less experience than Palin. Everytime Obama backers bring up the Palin's experience it points right back that he has NONE running anything. This is great.

  16. Unbiased Reporting

Has the press, in their "neutral" reporting, confirmed or disproved Guiani's claim that Obama votes "Present" rather than actually make a decision for or against?

Has the "Neutral" press looked at the Democratic claim that McCain votes WITH the President 90% of the time to see if Obama did the same? ... Or even voted at all??? ...And were those substantive votes? I'd like to know how many times McCain and Obama too OPPOSITE positions on SUBSTANTIVE issues.

Let's get real and look at the important things.

I cannot believe how closed-minded the media and so many of you other bloggers have been about Sarah Palin! Look at the facts - She has a record as a whistle-blower and reformer, and is exactly the kind of change we need in this country - She brings more to the election than Obama's eloquent speeches and lack of any real change or substance! Talk about smoke & mirrors - Look at Obama!!

I fear what would happen to the United States if McCain wins. When he ran in the primaries in 2000 against George Bush, he was a better person. He lost and has now surrounded himself with the people that got George Bush elected. He has stolen Obama's entire platform and chosen a woman with a wonderful life story as a gimmick. This guys decision making is SCARY. And the craziest thing about it all...the American people are falling for it. When will Americans wake up and start thinking for themselves. Look...John McCain can't even do it...and people are just biting it up like bait!

    We can't let this madness continue..Obama/Biden '08

Where's the LOOT – the "200+ Million" – That BRIDGE to NOWHERE actually did go SOMEWHERE.... !!! How can they get away with this??? GAS PRICES – I just CHECKED – is over $4 a Gallon in Alaska – JUST like everywhere else – BUT YET – PA'IN took on BIG OIL COMPANIES in Alaska!!!! LIAR – LIAR – PANTS ON FIRE....

Why isn't the MEDIA driving by gas stations in ALASKA and showing that GAS is the SAME there – if NOT HIGHER (because here in VA we're down to $3.39 per gallon) – MAN the REPUBS are "shrewd" and "fear mongerers" that are trying to get over.... NOT IN 2008!!!

    OBA-DEN 2008-2016 – YES WE CAN!!!

When did McCain take on the Drug Companies. Next to the Oil Companies they are raking in the doe big time. And we have to find out more on Palin because you sahe she took on the Oil Companies? When? And if so why how is it that they are raking so much in profits? I mean exactly what did she do to take them on. This has got to stop. They are just trying to rake up as make poll points as possible before they're lies are uncovered.

  22. McClone is a joke

I found it ironic, amusing and blatantly stupid for McCain to try to say that the only way to fix all the problems caused by the Republicans is to .... elect another Republican! Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me!

John McBush has stolen every slogan that Barack Obama has and they try to sell this smelly ticket as change! Give me a break. Sarah "Dick Cheney in lipstick and high heels" Palin has only regurgitated old Karl Rove talking points that has energized the Rethuglicans. No new ideas, no new policies, and certainly no change we can believe in.

All Palin brings is more deceipt, division, and corruption and haven't we had enough of that crap for the last 8 years.

    EIGHT REALLY IS ENOUGH!

NO MORE MCPAIN, NO MORE PIT BULL PALIN!

McCain / Palin just copy the Obama statements from the primaries and obviously it works against him. People who elected Bush will do the same mistakes again and again and again.

Who are they kidding? It's sad that so many people support these 2 phonies, McCain will do anything now to become president and that's hardly someone I want in office.

Country first, it's more like "me first...."

Google Anne Kilkenney, interesting read on Palin, she's no change agent or maverick.....
