Obama calls McCain-Palin 'No Maverick' in new ad

Obama's campaign released a new ad today.

Obama's campaign released a new ad today.

CNN - Barack Obama’s campaign responded to the McCain-Palin team’s new ad touting the Alaska governor’s opposition to the Bridge to Nowhere with a spot released Monday afternoon that attacks the Republican VP nominee by name for the first time.

“They call themselves mavericks. Whoa,” says the announcer in the 30-second spot. “The truth is, they’re anything but.

“John McCain is hardly a maverick when seven of his top campaign advisers are Washington lobbyists. He’s no maverick when he votes with Bush 90 percent of the time. And Sarah Palin’s no maverick either. She was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it.

“Politicians lying about their records? You don’t call that maverick. You call it more of the same.”

The ad, which will air in battleground states, echoes the language of Obama’s own campaign trail attacks against the GOP ticket Monday.

“John McCain says that he is going to tell all those lobbyists in Washington that their days of running Washington are over,” Obama said at a Michigan campaign stop. “So who is it that he’s going to tell? Is he going to tell his campaign chairman? Is he going to tell his campaign manager? I mean, these are folks who have represented every major corporate interest…”

McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said that there are no registered lobbyists currently on the payroll, “and Barack Obama knows it.”

A new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll found those surveyed give the Democratic nominee the edge when it comes to which candidate is the “real reformer” – but McCain has narrowed Obama’s advantage on “change” from 18 to 8 percent.

Race and bigotry are the main ideas in US elections. McCain is another Bush. If Americans think he is diferent. they must tell to the public.

Obama and Biden must expose more lies of McCain and Palin. It is so easy, what they are waiting for?!

    I shall repeat;
If you voted for Bush you have shown that your judgment is severely lacking. Feel free to educate yourself or sit this one out...
This pair is just another GOP mistake in the making.

I wished that McCain won in 2000, but oh well, life moves on.

My son could teach Pahlin more about government than she presently knows. And she's supposed to be a "Maverick" and "change Washington"? Please ...she probably won't be able to find the women's restroom in her 1st year.

McCain is not about to "change" anything, except his position on any given issue from interview to interview; campaign stop to campaign stop; day to day.....take your pick.

Good job Obama, keep exposing the truth.
They're NO mavericks and it's insulting to try to hoodwink the American people with such lies. John McCain has sold out so much he's not even recognizable and Sarah Palin had better mind what she says, her closet is pretty full and she's just inviting an onslaught against herself which I think anyone who's been doing any research on her knows won't be pretty.
The animal rights groups have been preparing ads on her push for aerial hunting of wolves and the $150 bounty she would pay to anyone who brought her a severed wolf foreleg. The truth will be known.

The only thing 'Maverick' about McBush is that he went against all common sense and good judgement to pick a Vice president that is completly unqualified and who he did not even know. Now what are we learning. Palin claims to be a devout Christian but she cannot raise her own children with unwed teenage pregnancy. Her Church is a wacko cult that thinks Alaska is some God chosen end times refuge that will be divinely spared from a soon to come world destruction.
Palin's husband is a member of a radical Alaska secessionist group and Palin herself attends the groups conventions. As mayor of tiny Wasilla Alaska Palin took the balanced budget and ran up a twenty two million dollar debt. She fired the poor Police Cheif for no reason and tried to fire the Librarian for refusing to Ban Books. Maverick?

In stead of bringing everything in her back ground why dont you just explain the items that you are being taken to court for. It hasnt been dismissed which means the judge must think there is something to it..Like where is your real BC. What countrys are you a citizen of , where were you born ,, why have you went by so many different names. Explain yourself instead of bashing a lady... I wish news medias like cnn and the rest would show some interest and report on that lawsuit against Obama.,

There either are lobbyists on McCain's payroll or there aren't. Palin was either for the bridge or she was against it. These are pretty straightforward questions. Why is no one putting out a list of facts that once and for all explains what the truth is so we can get away from this distraction and get back to the Bush administration's abysmal record and McCain's complete and absolute lack of ideas on how to solve the mess we're in.

Hmmm I am starting to wonder who is on the top of the REPUGS ticket. IS IT MCCAIN/PALIN OR PALIN/MCCAIN???

  15. Facts

That's the problem and this is why McCain numbers are rising because they know that some Americans will just take their word and won't even look for facts. If we had checked our facts with Bush he wouldn't be in the white house.

Come on people if your going to vote for someone let it be other than they are considered cute. CHECK THE FACTS FOR YOURSELF!!!

I hope that the person from Wasilla who posted above contacts some of the reporters who are up there now and gives an interview. The folks in the lower 48 need some unbiased facts from those in the know. Thanks for your post!

  19. Common Sense

Will they ever realize that the "Voted with Bush 90% of the time" line is complete retardation." The president doesn't have a vote in the Senate, and the majority of votes in the senate are actually unanimous. So with that being the case then Obama actually votes with the president the majority of the time as well if we're going to use his same logic. I hope people open their eyes and see that Obama is just an empty suit.

Both parties are lying, both parties are stretching the truth. The next 2 months will just be the blame game between both parties and until conservatives and liberals see the nonsense that both parties are shoveling then this election will be down to the same old question, "Who is the next American Idol?" Its a popularity contest. We might as well elect Tom Cruise while were at it.

The Economy is ISSUE #1. Do you want to tell us how you're going to help improve America's Economy, Senator McCain? What's that, you don't know anything about the Economy and you think it's fundamentally strong? Sounds like YOU'RE the one that's NOT READY to lead, McCain. We won't get fooled again because this time we are taking our country back. OBAMA/BIDEN '08!
