Obama calls McCain-Palin 'No Maverick' in new ad

Obama's campaign released a new ad today.

Obama's campaign released a new ad today.

CNN - Barack Obama’s campaign responded to the McCain-Palin team’s new ad touting the Alaska governor’s opposition to the Bridge to Nowhere with a spot released Monday afternoon that attacks the Republican VP nominee by name for the first time.

“They call themselves mavericks. Whoa,” says the announcer in the 30-second spot. “The truth is, they’re anything but.

“John McCain is hardly a maverick when seven of his top campaign advisers are Washington lobbyists. He’s no maverick when he votes with Bush 90 percent of the time. And Sarah Palin’s no maverick either. She was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it.

“Politicians lying about their records? You don’t call that maverick. You call it more of the same.”

The ad, which will air in battleground states, echoes the language of Obama’s own campaign trail attacks against the GOP ticket Monday.

“John McCain says that he is going to tell all those lobbyists in Washington that their days of running Washington are over,” Obama said at a Michigan campaign stop. “So who is it that he’s going to tell? Is he going to tell his campaign chairman? Is he going to tell his campaign manager? I mean, these are folks who have represented every major corporate interest…”

McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said that there are no registered lobbyists currently on the payroll, “and Barack Obama knows it.”

A new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll found those surveyed give the Democratic nominee the edge when it comes to which candidate is the “real reformer” – but McCain has narrowed Obama’s advantage on “change” from 18 to 8 percent.

Obama and McCain are my only choices? Looks like I'm just not going to vote this time. They're both worthless.

So, Debbie J, let me get this straight...David Axelrod's firm ASK was awarded the largest lobbyist contract in New York in 2004. Would you be so kind as to submit proof of this?

By the way, McCains lobbyists are currently running his ship.

    Does Obama Palin Comparison?

Get a clue! She may have said she'd be an advocate but she cut funding for programs for Special Needs Children. She's all lies.

We're not talking about the old McCain. We're talking about the new and not so improved McCain who has lost his way since the 2000 election when probably a lot of Independents would have voted for him. He has sold his soul.

As far as Obama voting with his party, 97% of the time. Maybe so but that's what we're talking about – change against the current administration (who are Republicans) that got us into this mess.

Obama shifts from negative to nasty. Let the whining begin:
    – it is racism
    – they lie more than us
    – it is the Clintons fault
    – it is racism
    – you people are stupid
    – it is space aliens (why not)

Unfortunately Obama's record is no maverick either, voting along party lines, never sponser any major legislation, never worked in a bi-partisan matter. John McCain has been called Maverick for good reason and he has the record to prove it.

This attack by Obama is showing that they are desperate and cofused after the Palin pick.

Kelby, I wish we could turn Texas blue. It is so red here it is terrible. Lets give it our best shot. People are so uninformed here and they don't want to hear it. It is all about the good old boys, you know what I mean.

I just want to say that it is unbelievable at how Palin LIES. She just outright LIES about her record. When are people going to call her on it. She attacked Obama on his record for earmarks while out right IGNORING her own which is completely against what McCain says he stands for.

Why is she being given a free ticket by the press?

McSame and Palin are lying big time! Folks, don't lose your common-sense to vote for these Republicans because their 8 yrs of lies are enough. As for Palin, she would put every American to bed at 6 pm if given the chance because she has the mentality of the 18th century.

It's about time he called them on their lies.

And where is my refund for the hundreds of millions of tax money you blew on that "bridge to nowhere", Sarah? Alaska is rolling in the dough and the rest of us are suffering.

    I don't want cake.

Whomever stated Sarah Palin is a strong advocate of children with special needs misses three key points. 1. Politicizing her child and saying she represents a strong advocate does not necessarilly make it so. 2. Why wasn't she before she was personally affected by this? 3. Why is she opposed to stem cell research which could possibly find cures for many diseases and 100,000s of families including her own?

    She's an advocate?...Prove it.

So does being a maverick mean you show up but do nothing, take zero stances on anything, and vote on nothing lest it blow up in your face? If so, then Obama is the only maverick...if by maverick you mean utter failure.

Funny Obama's meetings with the public have not been open to the public? Oh, and Mrs. Obama only does interviews with a contract with off limit questions... Ok, what is different about the same old Dem attack attack message...nothing change, it is the same rap that almost all americans are turned off with. America is not for anyone or any group to "take back"...the people give the honor to someone (not a party) to represent all of us. Obama had a chance to fight Lobby groups/special interests/earmarks and his party...but he did not. That is why Obama's message is loosing! McCain is winning the "change" issue because he has taken on lobbist/earmarks and his party...did what he is a true message of political change...only those tied up with hate cannot see it.

Palin went after the oil companies in alaska and got a tax rebate check for all of the residence there. Now that is exactly what Obama said he would do and McCain Laughed and said it was a bad Idea.
And what about his Gas tax holiday ? The summers almost over, he knew he couldn't do that because he wasn't president.. Just a gimmick buit thatnl goodness he couldnt Because tyhe Highway funds are know running on empty due to lower comsumption due to higher Gas pricers this will cause a loss in construction jobs and projects... This is not a personallity contest,, with real issues.. gender, lipstick should have nothing to do with this ... It is a voters responsiblity to be informed not impressed.... OBAMA_BIDEN 08

I really commend both McCain and Palin on a successful convention that vitalized their party. However, it really just shows that they are more of the same. First of all why couldn't they find their own words for change. They stole Obama's theme for their own.

I have been watching their campaign trail. All I have been hearing is about a jet sold on ebay what in the world does that have to do with what they are going to do for americans. To me is sounds like a gimick in which put us in office now but we will sale you the american people out later.

She reminds me of one of my old bosses who looked similiar to her along with having a strong ability to use her power when needed. But when all was over she never understood why many people liked being under other management.

Tell the truth I do not think congress wants her their.

on top of all that, McCain says he is against war, but its ok if we keep our troops over there for a 100 years.
Oh, and his foreign policy as you all might remember is:
" Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran"
This would be the right time to use this in an ad, I think.
Also, I do not want creationism taught in schools or womens rights set back 50 years.
Time for Obama to name his cabinet and put Hillary as Sec. of State, she will make a great on.
