McCain and Palin once again play 'Barracuda'

Heart guitarists Nancy and Ann Wilson don't want the McCain campaign to play their song.
Heart guitarists Nancy and Ann Wilson don't want the McCain campaign to play their song.

LEBANON, Ohio (CNN) – The rock band "Heart" may have asked John McCain and Sarah Palin stop playing their song "Barracuda" at their rallies, but the campaign is apparently paying no heed.

The track - played at the Republican National Convention in honor of the Vice Presidential nominee, who earned the nickname "Sarah Barracuda" playing high school basketball in Alaska - was pumped through the streets of Lebanon, Ohio on Tuesday morning at an outdoor rally before the GOP ticket showed up.

Earlier: Heart condemns McCain-Palin use of 'Barracuda'

When the song was played after Palin's convention speech last week, the band members quickly requested that McCain and Palin pull the plug.

"Sarah Palin's views and values in no way represent us as American women," Ann and Nancy Wilson told Entertainment Weekly. "We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image."

But the McCain camp said last week that it had paid for and obtained all necessary licenses before using the song.

And the band's former guitarist, Roger Fisher, told Reuters last week that the McCain camp’s use of the song benefited both sides: Republicans get "the ingenious placement of a kick-ass song" - and Heart gets headlines and royalties. Part of that money, said Fisher, would be heading to the Arizona senator’s opponent: "With my contribution to Obama's campaign, the Republicans are now supporting Obama," he told Reuters.

If they win, this is how they will run the country. Just do whatever they want to do, like Bush.

How dumb to Republicans have to be, to pick a running mate for McCain who is already under investigation. What gives?

Wow. Republicans breaking rules and doing whatever they want? That's the kind of change we need in Washington.

Iraq is so complex. It's a boiling pot, temporarily with a lid on. It takes a leader with JUDGEMENT, VISION and PATIENCE.

    THis is Palin's profile:
As Governor, she gave the Legislature no direction and budget guidelines, then made a big grandstand display of line-item vetoing

projects, calling them pork. Public outcry and further legislative action restored most of these projects–which had been vetoed simply

because she was not aware of their importance–but with the unobservant she had gained a reputation as “anti-pork"

    She's not READY.

she is a pig in lipstick, and he is a paper tiger blowing in the wind…
with th emedia buzz in thier sails thieys fly out into the sunlight, and in the sun we can al lsee how transparent they really are.

Then we can get back to the business of fixing this country that Mccain's Republican allies have squandered and shamed.

We all need to turn off the media, turn off anything but the debates and go vote. Thankfully this will all be over soon and hopefully we will check out where we are today in comparison to 8 years ago and vote our answer.

I love Heart but I think they are being just a little bit ridiculous with this. What is the harm? Her nickname is "Barracuda", it is an obvious choice. Don't look like spoiled brats in front of the country. Leave the tantrums to Obama. I did not hear anything from Heart when he and the media were ripping Hillary with sexist comments. Does Hillary not share your values as American women either??!

What is America thinking. McCain/Palin haven't said one thing about what they are going to do to fix America's problem. It's all about personality and the media is fixated no only that. Where are the real issues that affects us today. I'm afraid that the Republicans will once again fool us into voting for another 4 years of the same. They are out there lying to the Ameican people and people are again falling for it. Like Dennis Kucinich said; WAKE UP AMERICA!

    What a disingenuous complaint!

Why did they think the McCain wanted to purchase rights to their song, anyway?

Can't have your cake and eat it, too.

  16. If you're pretty, you win

"62 percent of men questioned have a favorable opinion of the Alaska governor"
Much as I keep hoping not to believe it; it appears that men are thinking with the small brain in this situation. Women aren't falling for the 'hot babe' candidate. GAWD, this is depressing.

Go ahead, CNN, go negative and do Obama's dirty work.

As you can see by now, all the money, big names, big crowds and favorable media coverage will not put Obama over the top. We all know where the majority of those undecideds are going to go, during the primary, they went for Hillary.

The 800 pound elephant sits in the middle of America.

    Should have picked Hillary.

"The check is in the mail."

Funny how so many seem to be attacking Sarah Palin.
And with all due respect to Anne Kilkenny, it appears that 80% of Alaskans see her in a positive light.
