McCain rally in Virginia moved to larger venue

(CNN) – John McCain's campaign is moving a Wednesday rally from a northern Virginia high school to new venue following complaints from some local officials, who complained that holding a partisan event on school grounds violates local School Board policy.

However, McCain's campaign told CNN on Wednesday the main reason for moving the event was to accommodate outsized demand for tickets.

The McCain camp was scheduled to hold a rally Fairfax High School’s field house tomorrow morning from the school system and the city for $10,200.

The event, originally scheduled to be held at Fairfax County High School in northern Virginia, is being re-located after some county School Board members and parents complained that the rally posed a violation of board policy because it would disrupt normal school hours, and objected to the exception granted the McCain campaign. Over the summer, when school was not in regular session, Democrat Barack Obama held a rally at the county’s Robinson High School.

A McCain aide said the principal reason for moving the rally to a new, larger venue - a nearby park - is the mounting demand for tickets. McCain's rallies over the last week with running mate Sarah Palin have drawn large crowds for the Republican nominee.

Wednesday's event will be McCain's first in Virginia since securing the nomination earlier this year.

Geeze, you would think these two are joined at the hip replacment. Go out and do your own thing McCain. Palin is not running for President you are. So quit riding her pig tails and send her out on her own. Or are you just scared the truth media will eat her alive. Not even her big guns could save her then.

I'm waiting for the the debate...I figure all the stories we have been hearing back and forth will cease after the condates have a real discussion. It's just amazing to me how we get sucked into all the hoopla. As a woman, Pallin is intelligent, but she is also being used by the Republicans. Why wasn't their rallies and "town hall" meetings energized before? Why are they trying to defend her every move, whether she qoutes truth or not? Now is who is the party with the rockstar...Come on folks...if you can't see through this smoke screen, then you are or want to stay truly blind as to what is transpiring...Let's stick the issues. That is why we vote, and that is what we need to hold our leaders accountable to – not spins and rumors!

    Mccain = " NO CHANGE EXPRESS "

When you agree 90 percent of the time with Bush, that is no Maverick. When you use your gut in decision making and not your head, that is no maverick, that is more of the same. We have been fooled twice before. Not this time. No more Mc-Bush. The war in Iraq must end, we got to get our homes, jobs, honor back, we can't continue borrowing Trillions from China, and send it to Iraq. We need Obama.

Just another lie from the Repub's!

BTW, why doesn't anyone ask about the big gaffe that Palin said this past weekend about the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? It was on Huffington Post but not the MSM?

Play fair and tell the truth!

Some people don't care who is running on the Republican ticket, they are going to vote against the Democrats no matter what. Some people think that Republican politicians actually care about abortion other than as a means of getting votes and money, and where has that got them in the last 35 years? Some people think that the GOP is interested in protecting their right to bear arms, but the GOP only brings that up again to get votes and money. Some people think that Republican politicians care about stem cell research, and refuse to look at the evidence before their eyes.
It will be a total shame if the Palin/McCain (sic) ticket wins the election, because that will mean that over half the voters in America only care about which party is elected, and not what the party stands for.

Alright Obama, time to bring in the large crowds again. The only reason he is getting smaller crowds is because he was accused of being a rock star (like that is a bad thing).

  10. This happened before

Actually, in Phoenix a few months this has happened before. There was a public fundraiser that involved George Bush and McCain, it had lackluster ticket sales (quoting the venue owners), but McCain said they moved it to a private residence for "security reasons."

We're going down, down in an earlier round...

Sheesh. Another election, another four years of Republican rule. The Dems blow it again. And it's all because of pride. We Democrats have so much freaking pride, it's unbelievable. To my fellow Dems on the board, I would take a more humble tone. All is lost this time around...once more.

McCain and Palin could hold their rally in the school toilet because their lies keep growing and they need the soap to wash their mouths out.

I wonder why they didn't have it at "Walter Reed Middle School" which the campaign accidently put behind McCain at his speech instead of Walter Reed Medical School. Ha!

I'm still waiting on these two to come up with a platform that isn't a ripoff of Obamas (shake up Washington?) at the last minute. I thought Washington and Bush was fine? Such a huge flip flop it's hilarious.

I've noticed over these few weeks how crafty the republican party really is. They call themselves mavericks, but they're really just copy cats.
They took the Democratic Platform of Change, and made it there own.
They mocked the very organizations (community) that helped shape America. They prey on peoples emotions, their sympathies, even their weaknesses. They say they want to unite america, but during these past weeks they have divided America even more. How many hockey moms are there anyway? What demographic does that statement really appeal to? Lies eventually are bought to the light. I just hope that it won't be too late.

  25. Lame Charlie Gibson

Charlie Gibson is the worst person to interview Sarah Palin and he WILL let America and his comrades down. He is a closet Republican who thinks everything is fine with the world, the war, the gas prices, everything. He didn't on Good Morning America all those years for nothing. He is thoroughly plastic.

When the GOP approves you, you know you're a powder puff organization.
