Biden starting debate prep

Biden is preparing to Debate Palin.

Biden is preparing to Debate Palin.

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) - Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has been tapped to help Joe Biden as he prepares to take on GOP rival Sarah Palin in the upcoming vice presidential debate.

Granholm will spend four days helping Biden sharpen his skills before he faces off with Palin October 2.

At a fundraiser Tuesday night, Biden told supporters debating Palin would be tricky.

“Folks look, I know what she’s going to try to do. She’s going to try to make it as personal as she can. She’s going to take a lot of straight lefts and jabs at me, she’s going to try to get me to respond, she’s going to try to get me to respond in a personal way," Biden said. "That’s not my style. I’m not going to do it.”

Instead, Biden said he would "try very hard" to keep the focus on health care, the struggling economy and foreign policy.

    Thats right!

Dont take the bait, stick to the issues. Thats what I wanna hear about

I could care less about her personal life. Im interested in this anti-anortion and abstinence and these lies about the Bridge to Nowhere which they will prep her with an answer for anyway

She needs to answer to reporters who ask what they want to ask, not someone who is gonna feed you the answers the day before and then interview you

What a sadness, JB! You said what Obama had not accomplished in 8 years but you never said WHAT Mc Cain had accomplished in 26 YEARS. You are just part of who they are brainwashing. They are politicians and they know the rules. They know that there will always be some naive people who will carry out their lies. Good job for volunteering in their experience to measure how stupid some people can be.

The Repugs still credit Palin for saving taxpayer money by eventually killing the bridge to no where. They very carefully neglect to say that she kept the $200 million and spent it on other projects. Savings = $0.00.
They ignore the fact that she took hundreds of millions in earmarks and hired lobbyist to ask for more.
The fact is that McCain supported the Iraq war and the escalation (surge) that is still going on. No end in sight. Not interested in an end but happy with endless occupation.
He touts the claim that the surge is working but the bottom line is that the war was unnecessary, stupid, against the advise of the world and now the U.S. is paying for it. If the idiots had not gone to war the surge would have been unnecessary. More than $10 billion a month that we must borrow from the Saudis and China.

You are absolutely right, Joe. They want to scream "sexist". Stick with the issues. They want to play the sexist card and the POW card for the rest of this campaign, and not address the issues, because they know they can't win on issues!

WOMEN: McCain has voted AGAINST ALL women's issues and rights.
He and Palin want to take away a woman's right to choose.
They don't want equal pay for equal work for women.
They will set women back! Palin is not Hillary!
Look at the issues and don't fall for this gimmick Palin!

Obama has supported and voted FOR ALL women's rights and issues.

This is an excellent move. While the state of Michigan is in dire straits due to it dependence on the ever shrinking U.S. auto manufacturing. Governor Graholm is a VERY SMART no nosense person. I believe she will help Senator Biden refine his answers so that the Republican base, any overly sensitive women (yes they exist), and the Karl Rove wig onf the McCain campaign can't try and make Sen. Biden look like a sexist.
After hearing that the McCain campaign is attenpting to make the OLD, OLD, OLD phrase "Putting lipstick on a Pig" now sexist remark shows how determined they are to try and keep the American public distracted from the issue...
In my opinion they Republicans had their chance and BLEW IT!!
Don't be distracted with this STUFF..stay focused on the differences in policy.

Very carefully, if he's smart, which apparently hasn't been the case, up to this point anyway. I think that the Nobama campaign had better be prepared to dig in and face the heat, for they now are on the defense. Nobama will and has started showing his true colors now, now that he is not the center of attraction. His actions now indicate a very scared individual who has now lost his comfort zone!!!

I don't think Biden should eat Palin alive. That's just what the Repugs want so they can pull the sexist card. Sarah is smart, and trust me she is being tutored as we speak. She will hold her own, which pundits will call a win, just because she will still be standing.

I think Biden should focus on the issues and not be distracted by the personal attacks, as he says. But by all means he shouldn't get too confident because the Dirty Tricksters are good.

Hopefully the American people are already seeing that McCain/Palin can dish it out but can't take it. ANY criticism of Palin is labeled Sexism, and she is refusing to do press conferences.

Let's hope these debates are on the issues, rather than the personal "gotcha" questions we've seen in the past.

Since Palin is not qualified for the Vice Presidency of the United States, she will undoubtedly be a bully, launching personal attacks at Biden during the entire debate (very unlady like behavior). All Biden needs to do is to be very respectful toward her and stick to the facts (using his gorgeous smile ).

Joe, this debate is called the seek & destroy debate. You must destroy any thoughts that We The People have about Palin's capability to run this country should anything happen to McCain if they were to win in November. If Palin can't take the heat ,she shouldn't be in the kitchen to begin with. Oh and pardon me if that's to sexist for her!

How do you prepare for a young, intelligent, attractive, lady governer, from Alaska? A hockey mom!? Ole Blowharded Doofus Biden doesn't stand a chance..

Senator Biden will do just fine. With all due respect to Sarah, Biden has more practical experience, hands-on experience in planning as well as damage control situations then Sarah. They both have equally charismatic personalities. He just misses out on the looks. But taking all else into account, I can live with our VP and potentially our President to be an ok looking person.

So let's focus on other things in life, our children and our work rather than debating how Biden will do against Palin. Trust me he will do just fine.

Sarah may know how to work a camera, but Joe Biden knows more about policy issues. Go Professor Biden!! (Sarah Palin only has a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism; respectful degree, but not for VP.)

Sarah Palin will try to sucker punch Joe Biden like the republican that she is. It's the only way they know how to argur, debate or attack someone who doesn't agree with them. He has to really be careful, as they will whine, accuse him of sexism, and generally gripe that he's taking pot shots at her because she's a woman. She will play the gender card if McBush doesn't.

    Hey Joe,
At this point she put herself in a NFL type game!
She must be able to take a hit!
She's out there throwing her ball around.
Let's see if she can pick up the blitz

    Go Bills

I hope Biden doesn't underestimate her. She is mean and aggressive, dark heart. He should firmly expose her ignorance. It is not a gender issue. Hillary Clinton knew the issues and the world.

The Palin pick turns out to be a tricky one for the Dems. They cry "sexism" over everything. Now they claim to hold the trump card on stem-cell research because of her family. Why are topics off the table for Dems to discuss because they are personal to Palin? Why does Palin get to politicize her family life (to rally the conservative base), but tells her opponents to leave her family out of it. Then on top of all of it, they make bold-faced lies and protect Palin from the media.

That's the best way he can go about it because she will attack, attack and then recoil and play victim and from the sounds of these blogs people will play into that. Oh, everything he says will probably be called sexist I'm sure.

These are the same people who gave us Bush twice, believe whatever the Republicans will feed you.....even if it's made you sick the last 8 years!

mccain is such an old fool if he thinks the world has to treat his viagra barbie doll differently than if she were a man. he is hiding behind her skirt here folks and looks disgusting! she knows nothing except what she is given to say on script and is playing on her cute little girl attitude. her voice is beginning to make me sick just hearing her pitch and grinding voice that never changes from what she said at the convention. she is a puppet for mccain that lets him off the hook so he doesn't have to talk policies. he has no substance and the thrill is going to wear off of ms. lipstick after a few more weeks and mccain will be stuck with a pretty little cheerleader without a battery. america please wake up here. will palin cry sexist if she inherits the whitehouse when one of the other nations leaders say something bad to her??? i don't think the other world leaders will find this a great strength in palin. someone will have to baby-sit this woman thru out her 4year term if she gets into office. what a laugh!!!

A guy with 36 years of experiance needs practice, but Sarah Palin needs none...what a joke.

Hey Joe...instead of projecting what she's going to do and say, why don't you tell us what YOU'RE going to do and say.

Keep underestimating's served you sooooo well with the voters.

I love how she was for it, but acts like she was against it the whole time

I would respect her for saying i was for it, but realized it would be a disaster and stopped it. Although she really didnt stop it, Congress did. Point being, we all make mistakes and we are all human. Just tell the truth. It will get you farther

  25. Enlightened Voter

My 73 year old neighbor went to Lancaster PA yesterday to see mccain and palin speak at a rally. My neighbor is a staunch republican and has been all of her life. She is also very conservative and an evangelical christian. When she returned from the rally she knocked on my door and asked me something I thought I would never hear out of her mouth, she asked did she have to do anything to be able to vote Democratic in november. She said she could not vote this republican ticket. And this coming from a woman who voted for bush, twice.
