Biden starting debate prep

Biden is preparing to Debate Palin.

Biden is preparing to Debate Palin.

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) - Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has been tapped to help Joe Biden as he prepares to take on GOP rival Sarah Palin in the upcoming vice presidential debate.

Granholm will spend four days helping Biden sharpen his skills before he faces off with Palin October 2.

At a fundraiser Tuesday night, Biden told supporters debating Palin would be tricky.

“Folks look, I know what she’s going to try to do. She’s going to try to make it as personal as she can. She’s going to take a lot of straight lefts and jabs at me, she’s going to try to get me to respond, she’s going to try to get me to respond in a personal way," Biden said. "That’s not my style. I’m not going to do it.”

Instead, Biden said he would "try very hard" to keep the focus on health care, the struggling economy and foreign policy.

If they stick to issues, then I'm not sure what Palin is going to do. The only thing Biden shouldn't get stuck on is being too serious, like Al Gore did in his debate against, W, who was a goofball, but allowed people to relate to him.

However, if they claim racism or sexism etc. for each point (which I'm sure Steve Schmidt will ensure), then it will devalue the debate and show that Palin can't stand on her own.

Hazel from New Mexico and others who are in favor of Palin, I am genuinely interested, what are the things you like about her? I mean, I understand that she is relatable, and its easier to understand her if you are a woman etc. However, this woman would be dealing with serious foreign policy issues and also have a heavy load of domestic policy work ahead of her, and aside from earmarks, I can't tell what she has done to deserve such lavish praise.

I'm genuinely interested, I hope someone will enlighten me.

Just as Palin was for the Bridge to Nowhere, before she decided to be against i. . . .

Obama was against the surge before he recently came out for it.

And just a reminder, Obama did not VOTE against the Iraq war. He did not vote. Biden was for it. Clinton was for it.

Only they were against McCain's fix of the war, called the surge. Without th surge we would be leaving another war defeated. And, now we will be able to leave earlier than we expected.

Obama has not accomplished anything as a politician, other than getting a discounted house for his family.

Since many Americans are rewarding Palin for all of her lies and mistruths the best thing for Joe "The Shark" Biden is to stick to what matters and keep it honest.People do eventually get sick of lies and attack dogs with lies.It is one thing to come out and say yeah at first I was for the bridge but when I figured out it was not in best interest of my state I was against it.But to come out and say I was against it and say no thanks is an outright lie and an insult to every Americans intellegence. To build you credibility with a lie is not acceptable if you want "Change". That is a complete opposite of change. If she would lie about something like this, she would lie about anything. If she were in court under oath her credibilty would be 0 from all of these lies and mistruths. If she lied to other world leaders like this while in office she puts Americans at great risk. You simply can't come out of nowhere and be the best thing to ever happen to the Republican ticket, and then be a proven liar and expect this to be OK with Americans.

Bush was elected for a 2nd term and McCain is not offering anything different.

I guess the old P.T. Barnum line still holds true.

Re: the Lipstick comment. I found it to be a slam against hockey moms! But even I got the joke. Now Obama uses it, and McCain calls him sexist. John McCain, you're 72 years old, could you PLEASE grow up! And, you know, if Palin called hockey moms "pitbulls with lipstick" maybe she also meant that soccer moms, and football moms and baseball moms, etc. are ALL pitbulls! Maybe she's the sexist – she said the comment first!

This is what "His Expectancy" says, “That’s not change. That’s just calling something the same thing something different. You know you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. You know you can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, it’s still going to stink after eight years. We’ve had enough of the same old thing.”

When I read it, I read that he is degrading both Palin and McCain.

He has already degraded Mid Westerners. How can this guy even stay in the race when he goes into the gutter so much and makes fun of us hard working people. I don't want a president who makes fun of me.

McCain will protect our values and our country while Obama will continue to degrade us good Americans. Obama is risky and has a funny name. Don't fall for him.

Woman or man should be able to face the public with truth not lies if they want a possition in government. Not Hide from the Press!
All I have seen from Palin so far is Lies, 1 line sarcastic remarks, NO Morals and not a respectable person! How can she claim to be Christian if she lies everyday?
I know what politician does not lie? But, Palin so far has done nothing but!

I want to see her speak in toungues!

I hope Biden is preparing well, because Obama's campaign is on the ropes right now. If he doesn't do something, McCain's lead is going to become insurmountable.

RE: How did Palin "save the taxpayers millions of dollars" by "killing the Bridge to Nowhere" when she never returned the money? She killed the bridge and kept US taxpayers dollars and we didn't even get a bridge! How courageous…

BOB, she kept the money after Biden and Obama decided not to give it to New Orleans for Katrina relief!!!!!

Just make sure she doesn't have a little device in her ears via which her handlers can tell her what to say during the debate!

Go get her Joe! Palin is going to look as dumb as Tucker Bounds did the other day on CNN trying to justify her command experience of the Alaska National Guard. If you're waiting to see a bounce in the polls, wait until this debate is over. Joe can rip her a new one, but I think he'll let her make a fool out of herself. Oh, by the way, Virginia will become a democratic state for the first time. If McSame would have paid attention to the DNC, he would have realized that Virginia has a Democratic Governor, Tim Kaine. We have former Governor, Mark Warner, soon to be a U.S. Senator. And since the Repubs want to brag about Palin's approval rating of 80%, Governor Warner had a 70% approval rating and didn't even serve his whole term. Not to mention that he governed a real state with real economic issues!

Joe Biden, you are going to get whooped by Palin. She will show you how strong a woman she is and put you in your place. Put you in her position and you would never be able to achieve what she has done so far. This is really eating at you democrats who thought you had it made by having Obama but as far as I can see he has had his days. His days are now numbered. If Hillary had been chosen to be the nominee, the democrats would have been way ahead of the republicans but instead they selected an arrogant, empty, egotistical man and they are now paying for it. I am a supporter of Hillary Clinton but I would never vote for Obama because I do not like or trust the man.

Joe Biden could never reach and be on the same level as a fresh face like Palin. Its so good to see woman chosen as VP whereas the democrats being the weaklings that they are, chose Obama over Hillary and then with a slap in the face chose Biden for their VP.

Biden, don't try to be something that you are not. You could never upstage Palin and don't even try because then the democrats will have to pay for that in the general election in November.

Senator Biden might want to ask Gov. Palin why, three years ago, Anchorage Judge John Suddock had to warn then her and her family in a family settlement conference from constantly disparaging Trooper Wooten. This warning came on the heels of a trooper union official testifying that he was receiving "non-job related" complaints against Woote. Another major news agency has picked up this story but you won't see it on CNN because they are more content to fish out the obviously false blogs and disparage them as being unfair to Palin. Get over it CNN – do your job on behalf of the public and start asking why she isn't being vetted publicly by the media like the 3 other candidates have been.

If Biden sticks to the facts, to the issues, to the inconsistencies/hypocrisy in her flimsy record and positions, and if he doesn't let the "Barracuda" push his buttons, he should do fine.
    There is no comparison!
    She will be well-dressed, well-coiffed, well-manicured, well-prepped and well-rehearsed.
And, Mac has paraded her around like some trophy wife (or worse).
But there's no substance beyond her hard-line social conservatism.
Biden needs to show the American people how SCARY it would be, if Old Man Mac should be unable to govern even for a day.
Can anyone really imagine this bimbo as President?
Can the American people be so stupid as to vote for her b/c she's a "hot chick"? (Well, guys, it seems that could be the case, if you see the recent polls.)
    C'mon people!
Friends don't let friends vote for "The Beauty and the Beast"!

People were saying Palin was unprepared, then she wowed everyone with her acceptance speech (even her opposition, by their own admission)
We'll see how she fares at the debates, but so far she's been full of surprises.
