Bill Clinton predicts big Obama win

NEW YORK (CNN) - Former President Bill Clinton predicted Barack Obama will "win" this fall's election and "will win pretty handily.”

The two men chatted with reporters in a photo-op at Clinton's Harlem office before sitting down for a private lunch.

Clinton is scheduled to campaign for Obama in Florida later this month. According to aides, the former president will appear at a mix of fundraisers and campaign events on behalf of the Democratic ticket throughout the fall.

"We're putting him to work," said Obama.

Clinton said he’d "agreed to do a substantial number of things, whatever I'm asked to do.”

Obama smiled at Clinton's prediction that he would take the White House: "There you go, you can take it from the President of the United States. He knows a little something about politics."

The image of the two men meeting comes as a relief to many Democrats who have been hoping to put to rest the "Clinton-Obama rift" storyline. Both Clintons praised Obama in their convention speeches, but agreed a face-to-face meeting with the president was a necessary step in putting the contentious primary season behind both camps.

The two men were said to be dining on a mix of sandwiches, salads and pizza from the lunch chain Cosi.

Someone in the Obama camp needs to tell Joe Biden to stop making such damaging remarks as Hilalry should have been chosen and is more qualified than he is to be V.P.

If he truly feels that way, why in the hell did he accept the nomination? Perhaps he should step down and the job offered to Hillary. It would certainly blow McCain and that phony Palin right off the map.

Why would anyone give any serious attention to the prediction of one of the worst presidents not named Carter? Hellooo? And don't forget, Clinton left office completely disgraced after being impeached! These 2 deserve each other!!

CNN will never post this anyways

Bill, do nothing. You and Hillary owe Obama nothing! Just say what you have to now to avoid blame for his loss in November.

    now now
    Are you for real?
Obama is campaigning as a DEMOCRAT if you haven't noticed yet. The DNC should stand behind him and as far as I can see, Obama is out there every day mostly alone! So, it is about time the DNC showed its face!

  7. GO DEMS!

Republicans don't care about who can govern most effectively, they only care about winning – they will spew inflammatory and FALSE information just to grab headlines.

Bill Clinton knows how to win AND successfully govern. Go Obama, you're getting the info. you need.

    C'mon, America....get informed AND Vote!!!

    Obama/Biden 08 and 12!!!!

    "Charlotte September 11th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

Sorry Bill, I disagree. He is still not qualified. Obama has thrown away half of the base and is book smart, common sense stupid. i will not vote for this shell of a man."

Charlotte, you are a sad sad person. I am hoping that you are a man but I've never met a man named Charlotte. Palin is no Hillary. They agree on nothing! Palin is a woman, helping a man, who votes against women. She hates herself and she hates you and me too.

    Obama/Biden '08....Clinton/Clinton '16 (I don't think that there's a rule saying a former president can't be a VP

I WAS COMMENTING WHAT THE OBAMA CAMP IS NOW USING TO
PUT OBAMA BACK ON TRACK AFTER WINDING DOWNN THE ROAD NOWHERE SINCE THE NATIONAL CONVENTIONS.
THEY NOW WANT TO USE BILL AND HILLARY CLINTON TO GO OUR THERE ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL AND REVERSE THE NEGATIVE TRENDS ON OBAMA'S POLLING NUMBERS.
AFTER THE TREATMENT THEY GACE HILLARY DURING THE PRIMARIES AND THEIR COMMENTS ABOUT BILL CLINTON BEING A PROBLEM FOR OBAMA. THEY HAVE REVERSED COURSE AND ARE TRYING TO PUSH THE CLINTONS TO THE FOREFRONT OF THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN..

I've always been a Clinton fan through thick/thin, and I'm glad to see him on the road for Obama. When Hillary gets into the act, this will be a formidable trio.

Bill may not be as cutesy acting as Palin but he's a lot more politically savvy than she is and has FAR MORE EXPERIENCE. He's probably forgotten more about politics than she will ever know.

When Hillary gets on the podium and speaks about the important issues, being far more knowledgeable and politically experienced, within a few weeks, voters will be asking "Sarah who?"

Add Biden to the mix and HOO, BOY! Dynamite team!

OBAMA/HILLARY, BILL AND JOE, IS A FORMIDABLE TEAM THAT WILL TAKE THE DEMOCRATS STRAIGHT TO 1600 PENNSYLVANIA.

The GOP has done more damage to this country than al qaeda.

Mothers who vote for Sarah Palin will be voting against their own child's best interests. As the last dollars of the supplement check disappear into the already late mortgage, mothers will once again pay attention to issues.

The last eight years have been nothing short of the sickest get rich scheme in the history of the United States.

    Sarah Palin= abuser of power

In the letter, written before Sen. John McCain picked the Alaska governor as his running mate, former U.S. Attorney Wevley Shea warned Gov. Palin that "the situation is now grave" and recommended that she and her husband, Todd Palin, apologize for "overreaching or perceived overreaching" for using her position to try to get Trooper Mike Wooten fired from the force.
